I can't believe it took us 3 years to find this spot, but very glad we did! The food is so flavorful ??, the cocktails and mocktails refreshing ????, and the service is absolutely phenomenal! It's the perfect spot to meet up with friends ?? we will be back soon! Dreaming of that Kimchi Slaw ??
This place is an *amazing* little gem in Red Bank! My best friend and I went for some drinks and early dinner, and I was so pleasantly surprised by how good the food was, the selection of craft beer, and the incredible bartender, Shea! She let me sample a few beers to see which one I liked, gave us great suggestions for the menu, and made us feel like we were right at home. The arcade and sitting area downstairs is so cute and welcoming, and the atmosphere of the whole place makes you want to become a regul
This place is fantastic! Shea and Kimberly took great care of us and were so friendly and fun. We came for nachos and ice cream and left with a tattoo!! Thank you - we shall return! ??
Food was delicious, & Kayla was delightful. The only problem we had was we were told that during Happy Hour, draft beers were $4, but on our bill they were $8 each. When we asked, she explained that the $4 HH beers applied only to one light lager that we didn't order. Oops! But we'd definitely go back & order that Kim-cheese steak again!
Really cool place if you looking for a fun place to get a drink. The staff was over the top trained and nice and fun to talk to. The food is above your average bar food, so that's good. The place that was here before this place the frog or something was not so good haha, so if you still have that bad taste in your mouth of the stale beer come on down and try some good beers and cocktails.
Was our first time here and it left a lot to be desired. We ordered two cocktails- one cost $11 to add a shot of rum to which is outrageous. We had two burgers, a hoagie and a kids meal and with tip it cost $120. The burgers were charred and we ordered one with a gluten free bun and the waitress even noted the allergy and when it came out it looked like all the others. We sent it back and they definitely missed the note about an allergy so good thing we were paying attention. The only thing we liked and wou
Instantly a huge fan of this place. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the lovely bartender, Shea. She made us feel right at home and gave us all the best suggestions on where to start as newcomers. The food was AMAZING (the Kimchi slaw is heavenly,) the drinks were fantastic, there are fun arcade games downstairs, and we had such an awesome time just hanging out and talking with Shea. We're definitely coming back.
I'm not trying to hate here but I just had my first experience w clvr's food truck and I'm irritated.. please understand, I work 3 pt jobs to barely afford life for my son and myself. I went to the red bank 70th fest mostly to support the community but also just so my son could go a little crazy. Food trucks in my opinion are all overpriced, and rarely do they ever sucker me into buying something, but when I passed clever I noticed there was literally no one there!.. so I felt bad and decided to throw him
I think I might have had an anomaly of an experience, I know it was busy because of burger week. I ordered online at 6:30 and the time it said to pick up my burger was 6:52. My burger wasn't ready until 7:45, which was obviously a bit disappointing after waiting for almost an hour. I'm sure burger week added more to the schedule but it was a little frustrating for my first experience with them.
Clever is right! Tucked away nicely in Redbank. Really interesting choice of foods and drink. Vegan options. You will have fun reading the menu and matching the name to the tv show! Didn't get a pic, but the John Belushi was a delicious variation of a G & T
Only had drinks, but the bar tender is so friendly . The vibes were immaculate. It's a nice chill space to have a few pints . And Wednesdays they have trivia!
The food was so good! I got the Noodle, Basil, Noodle and wow, incredible. The beer selection is awesome too. Went a second time, just as good as the first.
We go here almost weekly now, so impressed with their food and drinks!!! There are so many to choose from and always delicious. These are kimchi nachos and my other favorite is the sausage and cheese ramen ?? happy to have Clever Alehouse in Red Bank!
Tasty food, plenty of drink options and very chill vibe with good music playing at a nice volume that isn't overbearing. They have a basement with sofas and chairs along with an outdoor seating area. A few arcade games as well. Very comfortable spot will definitely go back.
Had the Rocko's Modern Tacos (pictured) and ate on the back patio with my dog. Staff was very friendly and the service was insanely fast. On this visit, I felt like the music was slightly loud for me, but that is highly subjective and a personal preference. It did not significantly impact my experience.
We had so much fun here. We tried food, cocktails, and beer. The food was fresh and delicious, and the staff was so kind (helped lactose-intolerant-me determine what I could eat without dairy). They also had options to eat dishes with meat or with a vegetarian meat substitute. I'll absolutely be visiting often.
I have been wanting o try this place for a while and it did not disappoint. I love the atmosphere, simple menu but good food, great service. Plenty of space to hang out with friends and just enjoy the evening. A very good addition to the local scene.
This is one of my new favorite places to go. I love the vibe inside and cant say enough about the food!!
Just happened upon them gem in Red Bank. The area is really progressing to have this chill eatery/lounge. - Laid back crowd with good food. The burger especially since I challenged them on the quality and definitely showed me up. Will have to try the other food. - Downstairs area with couches, board games (request for Connect 4), and even newish arcade games I've never seen. Good outside area with lights overhead to eat too. Winning combo of an establishment and I'll be back for burgers and more food.
Very cool little spot, super helpful and friendly employees everywhere.the parking situation was a bit tricky but worth the experience. A lot more pricey than I was expecting. We got a mixed drink, a beer, two shots, a mug and an order of queso and spent $112. ?? We still had a phenomenal time and will definitely be back. Just probably on more of a monthly basis.
Finally the neighborhood watering hole Red Bank has so desperately longed for! Lots of cozy nooks upstairs, downstairs, and outside to meet up with friends and neighbors over a cold beer. Draft selection, cocktail menu, and food menu are well curated and offer something for everyone. Can't wait to become a regular!
I like going to have beer, but the food is a let down. I paid $10 for some dip and a few veggies (pic included). If you added some burgers and regular stuff I would want to go there more. It also seems like you would want to keep the door closed when it is 40 outside.
Great local spot in Red Bank. Fun menu, great selection of beer and inventive cocktails. Be sure to check out the basement couch seating and patio seating out back.
We stopped in on a weeknight, a party of 6. The bartender was seemingly the only person upstairs. She had 3 or 4 people at the bar but also had 3 other tables. We grabbed menus, and she was so busy that we needed to put in our orders for drinks ourselves at the bar and also for entrees. The food was really stupendous, a little spicy but not insurmountable. Also, by the time we left, the bar area was absolutely packed! I would recommend this place for happy hour and appetizers 100%. For sit-down drinks and d
What a disappointment! I do not believe I have ever seen a restaurant go downhill so fast! This used to be somewhere I enjoyed dining. Not anymore! The overall experience only deserves one star, but the half-portion of Ramen I received was very good so I will give it two stars. Unfortunately, a tasty half-portion of Ramen is the only [half] positive remark I have to offer. We ordered the hummus plate as our appetizer. The bowl of hummus was exactly one-fifth of the way full. Fortunately, the appetizer only
I just happened on this place. It was amazing. Food was great, vibe was nice, people were friendly and Keisha was top tier. I live in the area and this will definitely be a spot I frequent regularly. Definitely a hidden gem!!!
Freind took me hear visiting from out state was nice got to play killer queen
We just busted the other night, my son and I. Food was bar food, but GOOOD. Very well done, thoughtful, and satisfying. Yes, it was bar food, salty, greasy and outstandingly delicious. I got the loaded Tots, my boy got the Korean style nachos. Both were fantastic, and the arcade cabinets were so very fun to play. The staff was very professional, knowledgeable about the drink menu and food, and they crafted a stellar MOCKTAIL for my kid. We will definitely be going back!
Had a great time and experience....to be honest Jay the bartender made really great drinks and also ensured we felt welcome. Go see Jay if you want some great drinks and good conversation!!!! 9/10......98%
Its just a five star place all around. The food is exceptional and the best part by far! I'm a burger causeur and I have to say, The Gubernator does not disappoint! The flavors are so robust and unique. Simply delicious and finger licking good.
used to really like it here but the new menu is not very good unfortunately. bring back the noodle basil noodle!!
Chill vibes, great food and drinks. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere!
Great little hole in the wall. Nice atmosphere kid friendly with games downstairs
Space is much bigger inside than the outside suggests. Parking seems odd, but once you figure out where it is, it isn't bad, but lot is small. Nice drink selection - something there for everyone. Downstairs has a cool 80's basement feel with some great selection of arcade games - deathball and killer queen are there which is awesome. Food- the most important part. On point and exceeded my expectations. Tried the hottie totties and definitely recommend. My man on the grill serves then up right. Top 3 I've
Unfortunately, they have gone down hill since first opening. Food is meh now, service is nonexistent unless you sit at the bar top, and cocktails are hit or miss depending on the bartender. I really liked this restaurant when it first opened and felt it was a great addition to Red Bank. I hope they can turn things around, as the community could really benefit from a local hang out.
I can see how this place could get better reviews, but our experience was awful. We came at a slow time (3/4:00 on a weekend). There were only two other customers. We ordered a kid's mac and cheese for our daughters, and it was really bad- the sauce was broken and so heavy on garlic that it was inedible. $8 for gritty noodles. After dropping off our food, nobody came to check on us, including what I'm guessing was the manager who walked by us 5+ times. I ordered an Aperol spritz, and the bartender didn't
Hole in the wall. This place is a perfect choice for any outting or date night. Very nice, modern design throughout the entire building. Food was delicious, and the menu items were well thought out. The arcsde area in the basement is super neat too. Will be coming back for sure.
I didn't want to do this review because it's such a cool vibe atmosphere. Dined on a Saturday night around 7pm it was basically empty maybe 2 other customers. Should have been first warning sign. Ordered Piminto cheese appetizer to get started and it was probably the worst Piminto cheese I've ever ate I've had better at a Baptist bible study luncheon made by someone's grandma who believes mirical whip is a staple in their kitchen. For my entree I ordered a noodle bowl and added the steak protein, well the n
Love the vibe of this cozy hometown spot! I'm a big fan of the outdoor seating and the menu variety, but the servers are extra special! Shout out to Sydney who makes you feel welcome and like you're right where you belong! Grateful this is in the Red Bank/ Chattanooga area!
Clever was the first stop on our weekend away in Chattanooga, and it was 100% the best move possible!! Sydney was our bartender?her knowledge behind the bar was incredible, not to mention she made the best espresso martini I've ever had. Also, the ?Kim-Cheesesteak? was divine. 10/10 would visit here again, thanks Sydney!!
We loved our last minute date night at Clever. It was the perfect place to get a refreshing cocktail and beer in this hot Chattanooga summer heat. The staff is friendly and helpful. The upstairs is perfect for an intimate conversation while the downstairs and patio are great to hang out with a larger group of friends. We loved that we were encouraged to access the different areas of the bar and not be tied down to one table. We can't wait to come back with our friends!
Going to the Clever is always a good time. I suggest going on Wednesday night when they do trivia. Great food, amazing staff, and the perfect atmosphere. Outside seating is fantastic and the lower level could h area is great for spending time with the community.
Got the honey gochujang chicken tenders and tots from their food truck and they were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. BUT the thing that really made me want to leave a review was seeing one of the best employees give a meal to a homeless person in the cold. I thought that was super kind and made me feel good about supporting this business! Please try their food!
The people are so kind and the space itself is awesome as well as having a fantastic beer menu. Unfortunately, the food is honestly just not very good. I might have caught them on a bad night or something but my ramen was lukewarm when it came out and tasted like it was served in leftover pasta water. Super disappointing from the people who gave us Bitter Alibi and Daily Ration. I will come back but only to drink and hang, won't be getting food next time.
The staff were super nice and attentive. The food was super bland. For $14, I expected this ramen to at least be better than the instant packs. Unfortunately it was not. Absolutely no flavor and was expensive for being so mediocre. I'd definitely be down to come again and order something else.
We had 3 kids with us who all ordered the ramen and cheese from the kids menu. All three orders were untouched. The server didn't check to see if the kids were happy with their orders, which was disappointing since it was obvious they weren't eating theirs food. The sandwich that my husband and I split was also underwhelming. We love the Daily Ration and Bitter Alibi so we were expecting to enjoy this experience, but unfortunately we will not be returning to the Clever Ale House.
The food is excellent and mid-range in price. The drinks can up a bill quickly. Lol
Very cool little bar/restaurant that we just discovered that has great elevated bar food, a good selection of drinks & friendly staff. Lots of vegetarian selections as well!
So glad Red Bank is growing and restaurants like this are finding a foothold in the community. Finally stopped in for some to go. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had tacos, ramen and the pimento cheese app. All were super tasty. I do wish, however, that the ramen was more brothy. I was wanting to slurp some noodles and drink the broth. I definitely recommend and will be going back.
Great spot! We were staying in Red Bank for a weekend and found this place near our AirBnb. Bartender was fabulous! Full of personality, super attentive and a great mixologist (sorry I don't remember his name, but it was a Sat. nite). Also had the Ramen and loved that. Can't wait to go back next time here. Thanks!
Loved the Asian nachos(may not always be available). Really enjoyed the Clever Ale (very smooth). Wait staff was quick, efficient and alternative. We sat outside which was very pleasant.
The vegetarian options were great! Cocktails were interesting and clever!!! We sat at the bar. The staff was friendly and helpful for recommendations. I wished I lived in Red Bank for this great neighborhood spot.
Delicious food and a really fun, neighborhood bar atmosphere. We almost skipped it because nobody was there, but it is an undiscovered gem! Great casual dinner and really amazing food!
Wife had the noodle bowl with pork belly, she loved it. I had the cheesesteak sandwich and it was great. Great service and beer selections.
Cool new spot with good beers and an awesome atmosphere! Food was good and they seem like they have food trucks coming in periodically for some different food than just there limited menu. Couches downstairs and big screens. Nice spot to chill and watch sports!
Might be the best cheese burger in Chattanooga. Kids love the arcade games downstairs. Awesome place all around.
Had the Heisenberg Ram'n Cheese. It was amazing. The picture is all that was left. The service was awesome.
What wonderful staff! Everyone was so sweet and helpful. Cool vibes in the basement especially. All new businesses have a couple hiccups and the AC couldn't keep up with our 105 F heat index today but it's being worked on they said! Def coming back <3
Quirky food, excellent service, clever vibes!
Vibe was great. I really enjoyed our visit - the servers were friendly and engaging. The food was good as well - especially the queso. I'll be back to try some more food from the menu.
Great service, the food was delicious and the drinks are super yummy. Loved it for our first time!
Good food. Plenty of seating. Mini arcade downstairs- moved due to it being loud. Will be visiting again.
I've been here a few times and got something different each time. All of the food is amazing and unique. They also have a large selection of beers and cocktails.
After figuring out of parking we walked in downstairs to the district and strong smells of smoking. We turned around and left. We had been looking forward to trying this place.
So nice to have a pub just down the street. The food options are eclectic and fun. A variety of beers - including local! Could use some porter & stout options. Friendly service.
Great atmosphere, drinks, and food! Love having this place just down the street. Can't wait for it to cool down a bit to enjoy the patio seating out the back.
What a fantastic local hang out with amazing food and unique drinks! They have a nice back patio, parking in front or to the side (plenty of it), and a laid-back atmosphere.
Probably one of my favorite spots in Red Bank. The tots and burger and cheese steak are ????
Congrats on a cool new space and watering hole! So great to cool of inside your space and enjoy friends in Red Bank! Keep up the awesome service, love your style:)
To be a neighborhood bar it doesn't have a very neighborly feel. Food was subpar for what we paid. Stop and have a beer but eat elsewhere. It's a "Meh" kinda place.
Great place to hang with friends and grab food and drinks. The food is excellent and the Tots are the best around.
Good food and cocktails. Good beer selection and decent selection in cans. Can get a little loud inside but still an awesome little bar in redbank
A relaxed atmosphere, great drinks, and perhaps the greatest sandwich I've ever eaten in my life live in this place. I could not recommend this place more.
Ehhhhh. Nothing special. Very red bank. Very low effort. Lots of tvs?
Got Donna's Spicy Ramen, was absolutely perfect, went great with the Clever Fox Lager, friendly and helpful staff, couldnt ask for more.
Had a great time. Came in late, still got served with a smile and the food was excellent. Will definitely be going back
Amazing service. Pokey was phenomenal and a wonderful tender. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a laid back atmosphere to hang out
Ate outside...I had the Black Bean Burger with Kimchi Slaw & Wildberry Sour Beer. Great Combo - ??
Always a great time with great food! The nachos are crazy good!!
Great crew, great atmosphere. Lots of veggie options. The new AC units are a real game changer.
The salad was delicious. Server was attentive. Small place but warm inside.
Good food with creative recipes. Limited menu keeps things simple. Casual atmosphere.
Great good, lots of options (beer, cocktails, etc), and awesome service. Really glad to have this spot in Red Bank!
Great spot. Some of the best food in Chattanooga
Didn't eat, but enjoyed beer and trivia!
cool neighborhood bar! nice beer selection, cocktails and fun fusion bar type food.
Raman and Beer, great people and atmosphere. Always a fun time and trivia is our weekly thing
Great spot for local hangout!
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
