Claw Cade Northtown Mall

Reviews Summary

The arcade receives mixed reviews, with many praising its unique game selection (especially DDR and Taiko No Tatsujin), friendly staff, and nostalgic atmosphere. However, frequent complaints cite broken machines, stolen quarters, poor maintenance, and lack of staff assistance. Customer Reviews

What a load of crap this place is! Wow. Just a few machines are operating and all others aren't working , dysfunctional and really just a bad look on the mall. Now step next door in the other room and everything looks great - machines are operating normally. Why don't you shut operations down next door or at least provide routine ordinary maintenance? waisted my money on machines that do not work and pretty obvious you don't care to service those specific machines

A good portion of the machines were not working. Also, some of the claw machines barely had any items to get . Also, the change machine was not working. I definitely do not recommend it.

The games all have a mind of there own. I played Initial D series and all the things steer on their own, it almost broke my thumb due to the steering wheel turning left on its own while I was steering right.

Fun place!!! Machines need to be filled up though.

I've been waiting so long for Taiko No Tatsujin! Such a great game and it's functional! Thank you!!

First the quarter machine took my $20 and only gave me $10 in quarters. I waited for a minute and it never spit the rest out. Then we tried to play Mario carts and it ate 50 cents. After we got it running, we found its all in Korean, I don't read that particular language. We weren't able to race each other and my sons car was nearly undriveable. Then we tried the air hockey and the return on one side was broken. We tried DDR and it too was not in English. Before we left, we played the claw game with the egg

We put money in the hockey machine and the disc wouldn't come out so we couldn't play the hockey machine game and we lost our money from it. We tried getting help/services but no one was around and we were told to knock on the door and no one responded and we tried calling and yet still no service. They really need to have people to help with the arcade room. Just lost money and couldn't get my money back.

What a disappointment. The quarter machine was off/out of service and there was no one there to give change. Only one of the machines took bills and all the bills i tried in it did not work. It was a total waste of our gas getting there and our time. I am absolutely floored that they could get a 5 star rating. Seems to me the rating they currently have was probably influenced by someone close to owner because i did not see one person who was actually having fun. Kids kept asking their parents for quarters a

The quarter machine is kept functional and tidy, the stickers/Pokemon card machines slap, and the selection of games can't be beat. The owner seems pretty mysterious, I have yet to see them at the arcade despite how well maintained they keep it. Cool arcade, great time killer. Also they have DDR in 2022. That's craaaazy.

Tried to get a sticker and it was either empty ir broken. Also input coins into a game and it did not give any time or give our quarters back. The Dance Dance Revolution game is also broken and only the second player works.

Honestly a sad excuse for an arcade. Don't come here with the expectation that you'll win anything lol & a lot of machines were out of order. Just disappointed overall.

Unless your favorite game is putting a quarter in the machine and getting nothing in return, then pass on this. Way too many broken games and quarter stealers. Not only that but there is no staff you can contact to get your money back. 100% ripoff.

I love this arcade. It has a great selection of games, and despite the quality of some machines suffering, it is always a must-visit when i am in Northtown. Highly Recommend!

Machines down, ate our quarters, didn't see a quarter exchanger, small & crowded... wasn't horrible.. just should have someone coming to fix machines and an atm/xchanger, and an easy way to resolve machines eating coins :/

Been coming here for a while now but just getting to leaving a review, pretty nice selection of games to play considering how small the actual area is including DDR Extreme and Jubeat (Main two I've been playing when I go), and the owners are usually on top of when things happen like a machine not taking coins/change machine goes out when you let them know!

Man, these guys are always nice to me. Extremely responsive to any issues I've had. They also have DDR so that's a huge plus!

Been stopping by multiple times a week just for Dance Dance Revolution. I'm psyched there's a place in Spokane to play DDR in 2021!

Please get a modern DDR machine that would be awesome! Current one sucks

Best place around! The staff is super helpful and actually enjoy their job! The kids loved all the games!

Funny for my kids they had a good time playing plus is cheap I like that

Love the place so many great games! Initial D is my favorite!

Had so much fun there. Owners are really nice. Can't wait to go back

Lots of fun and awesome unique games. Can't wait to see what they bring next!

this place was fun!! reminds me of the downstairs one back in the day just not as big lol

Every single gotcha- gotcha machine stole our money and didn't spit anything out.

Friendly staff and super fun games highly recommend

Game were mostly brocken

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
