Classic Bowling Lanes

Reviews Summary

Overall, this bowling alley receives mostly positive reviews (averaging around 4.5 stars) for its fun atmosphere, clean lanes, and family-friendly activities like arcades and pool tables. Many praise the affordable pricing, friendly staff (especially Scott and Connie), and enjoyable birthday party experiences. However, some note inconsistent service, limited food options, occasional overcrowding during league nights, and cleanliness issues (like cigarette butts outside or dirty bathrooms). Very well maintained bowling center. 32 lanes have a wonderful game room for the kids. and a bunch of crane games a small bar and a small snack bar and a pro shop. Was fun bowling here they even have a 25 cent a game day I think is Wednesday ?? And they had pool tables which is rare at bowling centers these days

Great big fun! Has a blast! Great service!

We took a field trip there with our 4th graders and they were great!!! They opened early for us and were super accommodating! They took care of everything quickly. They were also reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend!

Love classic lanes. Finally got my daughter and boyfriend to pacify my love for bowling, and had a lovely time. Scott, the attendee was very friendly?he even let us finish up even though our game ran over. We will always come back!!!!!

First off I want to state that I'm a very avid league and tournament bowler and travel to a lot of centers. My fianc? and I were in the area and wanted to go bowling. We were put on lane 11 at around 430pm 2/23/25. THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE LANES AT ALL!! The lanes were so dry that even trying to play different parts of the lane it was impossible! We paid for 3 games each and bowled them but the lanes left very bad rub marks on our bowling balls from being all friction and little to no oil. Luckily I was able

All the smokers gather at the door?must brave the gauntlet before entry. Once inside it's great.

First I want to say my family loves the bowling alley. But, I truly hope the owners read this: the gal that works the snack bar sometimes with glasses and long hair, she worked NYE, is SO RUDE it actually makes me not want to interact with her ever again. Normally other family members order and they told me she is always a nasty person to them, like she is annoyed or bothered someone is ordering. Tonight was my first time to experience it. Please, if she doesn't want to work there, get rid of her or give he

Had a lot of fun when I went, they have a bunch of arcade games to do while you're waiting for your turn

Won't be returning. First their atm didn't work so we couldn't use the arcade during our 30 minutes wait. Second they didn't have any bowling bowls under 9 pounds for our 6 yr old to use. And third, I chipped a nail down to my nail bed while using their bowling ball, which shouldn't be a huge issue, but two days later my finger is now severely swollen, sore and has pus? it's a staph infection. Yeah won't be returning.

Classic Bowling Lanes is a well ran, very upbeat and busy bowling alley near IU in Bloomington, IN. For a college town bowling venue it is orderly, well kept and clean! The lane conditions overall are great and everything pretty much works on the lanes. The modernized arcade is a nice addition and adds class and attractiveness to the place. The staff are professional, hard workers and makes sure you are taken care of. I would recommend this bowling alley if you are a college student at IU looking for someth

This bowling alley is a great place to have fun with the family. The bowling is very affordable, and there is an arcade and snack bar inside. It can be very packed in the evening, but we always have fun.

Always love taking my boy to have some good pl fashion fun!

What a fun time, we did our child's birthday party and they had so much fun! The staff was friendly and helpful. We go pizza there and it was tasty too.

Great place to take kids for a family fun night.

Our church planned a bowling night and this place was so easy to work with! The bowling alleys were nice, with "glow" bowling being a really nice touch! We had lots of fun and will be returning for our next bowling trip! Highly recommend!!

It was fun and I love that I got to spend time with my kids. Staff was friendly except for guy running register & they have a cute little arcade, but the reason for 2 stars is the price& not so nice guy at register. For 2 games of 4 people it was $53. And 2 were kids. I probably won't be back.

Friendly staff good bar tender snack bar is good and reasonable priced several arcade games to choose from the only downfall is the bathrooms (mens) was disgusting

"Classic" is a succinct description of this place. It is the Everytown, USA Bowling joint. Little arcade, pro shop, greasy spoon food. Great experience!

We have the getoutpass. Classic Lanes is on it. We are on Fall Break with the kids and wanted to do some stuff for free with them. Went in here and showed them our pass. Said they would have a lane open for us in an hour. We told them we lived 2 hours away, but had a hotel and would go to our hotel and come back. Came back just to be told they wouldn't honor our pass. Wasted our time and disappointed our kids. We had the money to pay for a round, but the principal at this point won and I refused to give th

Had a blast. Played pool while we waited for Lane. Not a long wait. Has a snack bar and a bar for alcohol. Reasonably priced. Clean bowling alley

Pretty good place to bowl a game or two for beginners and for more experienced bowlers! And there is food !

Bowling is always a fun time however the staff here is limited and when you have an issue there isn't always someone to help fix it. Totally not staffs fault with so few staff on the clock it seemed but hard when you have to take care of it yourself after waiting a while.

My brother and I love Classic Lanes because they help make it possible for indiana's Monroe County Special Olympic athletes to participate in their bowling league at a reduced price. And that makes a big difference to those who couldn't afford it otherwise. Classic Lane's support of Special Olympics is a very generous, socially conscious thing to do. And that's why they're the best!!!!!

Nice place to go spend time with my family

Had my toddlers birthday here on 2/24. Everything went great. The staff was very helpful. Everyone had a good time. Huge thank you to Scott who helped us out and was very kind and on top of it in spite of it being a busy day.

Very nice place to come and have a good time bowling with family/friends in a clean nicely kept bowling alley!

Had fun and every seen to work. But customer service and friendly staff needs to be improved.

Two lanes, 6 people, = loads of fun. Godkids had a blast and learned they could bowl better than they originally thought. I hadn't bowled in 30 years but it came back naturally. The desk clerk and personal working the refreshment counter were both super friendly and helpful. Ton of fun laughing at the visual displays after each ball. Super cute to see all of the superimposed photos added to cartoons just made it very entertaining.

We had so much fun! Great family place!

Wonderful time here. Hosted a kids birthday party, and everyone had a blast. Great service from both the front manager (Scott?) and food manager (Connie?). Pizza dough was perfect! FYI: If hosting a weekend bday party right when the place opens, keep in mind they can at most (depending) let you in about ten minutes early, but not always. If we did it again and planned on setting up table decorations, balloons, etc., we would probably have the party start about 30 minutes after the place opens.

I recently had a fantastic experience at the bowling lane. The facility was well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The bowling equipment was in good condition, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable game. The atmosphere was lively, and the lane setup made it easy for both casual and serious bowlers to have a great time. Overall, it's a great place for bowling enthusiasts or those looking for a fun and social outing with friends and family.

Been coming here since I was like 7 or 8 and have always had a blast! Arcade machines, pool tables, a jukebox and of course bowling! They serve beer as well as fair food/bar food/snacks and other refreshments! Be sure to check them out for a great evening out with friends or family!

Funtimes family bowling with our 5 Year old daughter, we all had a blast!

Had my sons birthday party here and for the price you can't beat it - Scott (manager i think?) is great, he helped me plan the party but he was on vacation on the day of and it didn't feel like the other staff knew what they were doing as much?although very nice, nobody really did anything to facilitate, like I'm pretty sure they were supposed to give us a bowling pin for the kids to sign and they didn't BUT again, for the price of the party i can live with it. I should?ve asked for one and I'm sure they w

Very good energy and lots of fun!

Great place to bowl with friends and family.

Big fun bowling with the kids. A long wait on a Sunday afternoon but they were entertained by the arcade.

Had lots of fun here twice. About 30 lanes to bowl and we'll stocked with shoes and bowling balls with weight between 9-15 lbs. The shoes I got were like new and well kept, no funky smells. The lanes are well waxed and the balls fly nicely. There is a snack bar and a bar inside so food and alcohol can be purchased. The price is fair I thought overall. Fun cartoon animations on the screens.

Great cosmic bowling and arcade? pinball and two person walking dead shooter game!!

GarOnteed good times, unless you're lookin' for fancy. Lane quality? A-OK. Shoes? Kinda funky, but hey, they work. Food? Greasy burgers and questionable pizza, just like mom used to make (if yer mom, like mine, accidentally lit the Easy Mac on fire cuz she was paintin' clown figurines). They got sweet video games and a claw machine full of stuffed animals wearing tiny bowling shoes. Plus, the dude behind the counter looks like a retired wrestler. Me and the wife bowled a killer game here. We even almost w

Lots of lanes, nice snack bar good times

Took the family bowling on a Saturday evening, place was very busy! We had fun and eventually they did the cosmic bowling which was a great surprise for the kids. Also they offer a snack bar with lots of yummy foods. Our overall experience was great. Also the gentleman working the counter was very friendly and helpful.

We had a blast! The food and beer was good. When our time was up, he even let us finish our game with 6 turns left. Pool only cost a dollar. Lots of different things to do besides bowl. I definitely recommend this place. Friendly environment and workers.

It's a very good place to bowl and has equipment available that you might need for your game. Good people ??

Facilities are typically not very clean, but the price is right! Usually no longer than a 15 minute wait. Good seating

Yeah the people that bowl and work there are very exclusive, they are not tolerant of many different people that want to show up and bowl. I 100% do not recommend, not a hospitable environment and a toxic place of business and pleasure. Do not go.

Very fun. Great food and drinks. Wait very short. Highly recommend

Great place, hardworking staff. Everything always goes very smooth, and it's a lot of fun. 5 stars

The staff here are always friendly, the prices are reasonable, especially with their week night specials. Never a single technical difficulty (I bowl here basically weekly), and the cocktails are surprisingly decent. A gem of a bowling alley in central Indiana.

Good clean smoke free bowling alley. Rates are reasonable and staff was friendly. Only downside, the music was too loud, but that could be due to our lanes location.

Went to Play a few games of pool on their pool tables. They have 2 VERY nice coin operated Pool Tables. Have to give cashier at main desk a card for collateral in order to rent the pool sticks & cue ball (rental is free)

Great bowling alley which always provides a good time. Whether you are there with friends, family, or are in the bowling league; your options for entertainment are pretty broad. They have bowling (of course), a bar, pool tables, air hockey, even an arcade. This place has something that anyone can enjoy. The crowd reflects this as well. I have generally gone on Wednesdays and Thursdays and it has usually been pretty packed (also something to consider these days). I have never had a bad time at these bowling

Better job of clients social distancing. 2 games for $7.50 seems high. Snack bar has some good stuff and some lousy. Their ssteak or waffle fries are great. Skip the poppers. All comfort food. New memes on screen with bowlers faces are great. Really a hoot. Great new program. Big hugs of sanitizer. Watch the ticket scam. In the game room. I know someone who spent $40 in quarters getting tickets to pick out a $5 pillow

Amazing customer service always a great time with the family. Just wish they would have the restaurant and bar open more often. If you can't bring it outside food drinks and at least have someplace inside that you can get food and drinks. Every time we all try to order snacks they're always understaffed and no one able to go over there and make anything

I go bowling weekly with my Papaw and Dad, and we have grown to love this place very much. It's given us a space to learn and have fun! The staff is wonderful and has been so much help!! When my papaw fell on the lane last week they were nice to rush over and get ice and Advil and help make sure he was okay! (He is fine now, just a scare) the food is good, and they make it pretty fast, considering it's usually pretty packed!! Alongside with the bowling lanes they have an arcade area, claw machines, pool, an

The bowling alley is great in many ways.. It's well kept inside. The outside needs cleaned up with all the cigarettes butts every where, but overall the build seems well kept. They have a bar and a snack counter. Kids have the arcade games center. The jukebox is expensive. Most songs cost 50 cents to play. The food is typical with burgers and French fries, etc. Some of the food runs on the high end. It's a fun atmosphere and all ages can enjoy

Decently maintained bowling alley with a solid grill and cafe. Equipment seems up to date and the entire place is clean. Staff are usually friendly though not always fast. Overall, you can get a good amount of entertainment for your buck.

Fun and busy atmosphere! Definitely didn't feel empty like some bowling alleys do. Lanes and balls are in good conditions and not a long wait time to get in. Plenty of parking as well. Definitely a great bowling alley.

We played one game with a group of 6. We had a great time. The facility was clean, the lanes were glossy and their balls were smooth to the touch. If you want to enjoy a few game, give them a try!

Right before the pandemic, we participated in our elementary school?s PTA fundraiser and won a party bowling pass to Classic Lanes. We waited more than a year to try and redeem it, but they were wonderful about helping us figure it out and made sure we had an excellent bowling night. Thank you, folks at Classic, so much for supporting our community by partnering with the PTA and then for going above and beyond in providing excellent customer service!

We came on a league night and it was really busy but they helped was greatly my husband can't bowl do to his cancer but our son and his wife and I did and had a great time food is good my husband said the beer was cold and our son and his wife said the mixed drinks they had was made just right the staff made us feel welcome and even offered my husband help if he wanted to try and bowl it's very family friendly 5stars all the way

32 Basic bowling lanes; we came on a Saturday and there was no wait. Family had a great time. Would recommend. However, bathrooms were somewhat crude, specifically the stall doors. They locked but the rod went into the wall. No big deal.

We had a great time. Excellent venue for a birthday party. My son's 13th birthday was a hot

Loved bowling here. Everything is good and nice about this place. A lot of tables to sit if you are in a group. Have pool tables and games too. Only think I did not like was there is hardly any good food items if you want to eat there and service at bar is very slow. The toilets were not managed, no toilet papers in any of them and water from taps was burning hot, you cant wash hands directly under tap. I even told the staff about it so that accidently any kid doesnt burn their hands. The bowling part was go

This bowling alley is pretty awesome. There's plenty to do aside from bowling. There's pool tables, air hockey, a few arcade games, concession stand, a fully stocked bar, plus updated bowling screens. I've been here a few times and I always have a blast. The prices are pretty reasonable and the staff is friendly. I've been here on a date night with my husband and I've also been here for some family fun. There's something for everybody! I'd definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Not worth spending money here ! We were told we had 30 minutes to play the game. Stopped half way through. And of course he wanted to be so rude to us about it. Horrible service.

Good place to bowl since renovations. However, league nights tend to be on nights with deals to only allow small amounts of people to get deals. If you wait till 11pm though, you should have no problem getting in.

They are epically uninviting and inhospitable. They kicked my elderly mother, who is handicapped, out of a table because they said there was a party here, and they changed their story and said they didn't want us to be bothered by the party. With employees and managers who lie and push out other customers, especially handicapped ones, I would never, ever recommend the cesspool of a bowling alley. Unless, that is you are white and able-bodied.

When we arrived to bowl at 11pm the front doors were locked, even though when we looked up the hours it said open until 1am every day, which was also posted on the door. Someone let us in under the condition that we were only allowed to bowl one game and the bar was closing and the concession was already closed. We got in, bought drinks, spent about 70 dollars total between all of us for shoes, lanes and drinks for about an hour of fun. Towards the end of our first game I asked if we could go ahead and buy

Did not have much luck Saturday, March 26, 2021, however things did change Sunday as I was able to bowl 61 pins above my average after changing balls. The alleys were very close to the lane conditions at Arrowhead Bowl in my hometown of Lafayette, Indiana. Lanes appeared to be very clean and well maintained.

If you are at high risk for COVID do NOT bowl here. I went with friends recently and the place was filled with unmasked individuals, including workers who wore masks around their chins. When challenged by a friend on these concerns, the company states it's ?not responsible for enforcing masking? although the Monroe County Health Department says otherwise. As someone who's lost significant people in my life to COVID, it's really bothersome that this company refuses to be a part of the solution and instead of

This is a good place. Being new to town we wanted to try bowling. The prices seem a little high compared to what we were used to but not outrageous. The place uses fairly new technology for their screens and player interaction. the place was well lighted and clean and they offered several other things like pool, food, etc. I recommend the place.

The slick looking dude that thinks he's in charge is Rude and Arrogant! I could make a pot roast in the amount of time it takes to get anything from the concession stand and the bar is dirty. I think that about sums up the awful experience! Make the drive to Indy for a much better experience!!!

Old 80s-90s feel and I love that. Being born in 88 I spent alot of time at classic in the middle to late 90s and early 2000s. Only place in Bloomington you can bowl besides the Union and that shift or miss most of the time being crowded with students. Classic still offers that family fun bowling experience that I'll continue to take my family too.

I went here with my friends recently. We thought it would be fun to try the candy claw machine. To our surprise we won a little, but when we went to reach down and get the candy we saw something a little odd. There seemed to be a wooden box collecting ALL the candy. So any child who spent that 50 cents his Mom or Dad gave him so he could go try to win would be very disappointed to know that he or she couldn't win. When I took this up with someone at the front desk they proceeded to tell me that it is a "tra

Loved this place. One of the best bowling alleys I've been to

We come here all the time. Bowling during the week is usually limited to after 9pm due to leagues but it's a great place to go.

Loud, you have to yell to talk. The staff weren't friendly and seemed uninterested in their job. The premises was dirty, food and drinks spilled everywhere and cigarette butts all over the ground upon walking in. Too bad it's the only bowling place in town.

The house was well maintained but while bowling the USBC SENIOR tournament I was surprised the house allowed the organizers to apply a 50 flat shot for a tournament where 90% of the bowlers had the ball speed of 11 mph or less with no reaction until just before the pin deck. So disrespectful to the handicap senior bowlers.

I love that you can pick the format of your screen while you're bowling. The cartoon feature is the best, it uses a few photos that you take and it will keep you giggling! It also gives tips for your second bowl for each frame to help you get strikes!!

Absolutely fantastic bowling alley with games for a good price. Got to Bloomington a way too early before a Monday night basketball game and decided to come here to kill some time. Games were $2.25 and we had the place pretty much to ourselves. Alley has fun bowling screens that let you take a selfie and has dancing characters if you roll a strike/spare. Also have nice pool tables and arcade games.

Took employees bowling around 1pm on a Tuesday . They acted shocked that we just showed up. They said they didn't have food, just vending machines. We ordered pizza from a local pizza place and then were told we couldn't eat it inside...had to stand outside and eat Then saw one of the employees eating a big order of nachos and cheese. Not a good experience.

My family and I went in to bowl on my kiddos birthday and was told that there was priority for leagues and there wouldn't be any lanes available for the public that night. Unfortunately that wasn't listed anywhere on the website. I saw several other families walk out disappointed as well. Should?ve been posted on their website. We took our business to the IMU bowling center and they accommodated us. Also nobody in the entire place was following Monroe county mask mandate.

Clean and fun bowling. Good prices and no wait. Kids had fun, they loved the silly selfies on the screen!

Went for my birthday. Bowlong lanes were great but dont bother playing pool! Tables are filthy and have stuff stuck all over them. Pool cues and balls are old and damaged. Tables lean. It was impossible to even hit the cue ball into the other balls. All the balls rolled to one corner. Was very disappointed.

These guys rock. Tuesday nights is a special night where anyone with disabilities can bowl at discounted rate. The staff is friendly. The snack bar had an excellent tenderloin

It was a reasonable price everything worked we had an awesome time. Thank you, we'll be back.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
