Had my daughter's 8th birthday there. Great price for a party you only need a cake or cupcakes. No decorations to buy or games to organize. Easiest party to throw and kids have a great time. When I need to have another kids party will book again and highly recommend.
My daughter has a blast every time we visit! We were just there tonight. It was still fun and welcoming. They have lots of special songs as well as popular ones.
Great prices and a friendly staff, we will definitely be back again for open skate times!
We had our daughters? joint birthday party at City Skate, and it was a great success! The facility is clean, secure, and well maintained. The other parents were happy that we were the only group at the facility, and you had to get buzzed in to enter. We opted for the party package that allowed us to bring our own food. Having Dominoes across the parking lot was very convenient. The music selection was spot on, and the kids had a wonderful time. All in all, we were pleased. Thank you, City Skate!
Yeah this place is a little weird I went into the bathroom and there was shit smeared all over the walls and it was giving off a bad smell also the employees are kind of rude some times. Wouldn't recommend
It just brings back soooo many memories!!! I feel like a kid again going with my young nieces and nephews and my little
Lots of fun. Clean. Great prices on snacks and drinks. Fast service at the snack bar. The older gentleman that manages the place needs to be a little calmer when he's dealing with the kids. Great place for family entertainment. The staff behind the skate counter couldn't be any nicer. So friendly and accommodating.
Hosted my daughters birthday here. We had a great time! The owners were friendly and accommodating, and the young lady playing music did a great job..yes the place is outdated but I love it! It's nostalgic and reminds me of my childhood. Thanks again!
We love this place! Every week we go! Nice staff! Kids ??
Everything is always good. We have previously rented out the rink to ourselves in February of 2023 for my twins birthday party. Very accommodating. Definitely a privately and locally small owned business. Wouldn't let me bring my own sprite in, just a mom there with my kids, I was/do not skating(skate). Owners are very kind. Smaller than most skating rinks. Needs more diversity in the music played.
What a great place. Very happy to have a place like this.
Staff is rude, and the facilities is poorly maintained. Despite a school event, we were treated like nuisances. Would have left 10 minutes in if it weren't for my kid having fun with friends.
We looked for a fun family thing to do on a Saturday afternoon, and we had so much fun. Brought my husband and I back to when we were younger. I spoke with the owner and I could tell she genuinely loves doing this for the kids. Can't wait to go back!
Went with my friends here for the first time and let's just say, it's not good. First of all parking lot is tiny, to many people here, rude staff, and overpriced. The woman who was running the concession stand seemed rude and seems to like to gossip, I could hear her talking about other customers, and seems to not care about customers since she was talking to one of her coworkers for a bit and a boy that was trying to order food said can I get service she yelled at him saying ?I'm talking don't interrupt me
Oh, I love ?? ?? this place and it's neat. Although they were strict if you're not skating (you cannot enter the ring without roller skates) and I have my kids falling back and forth in there. But it's was nice though and the staff seems friendly.
Perfectly preserved "roller rink" feeling. Little pricey but understandably so, given the current economic climate. Staff is friendly and personable. Will be my go-to rink from this point on
Good Pricing. Very disorderly and rude owner/staff due to the business and them being overwhelmed. They did not have food available for paying customers. If you can't run a fast paced business, don't buy one. They were understaffed and just had a couple teenage girls running the food. 2 bday parties at one time and 0 timing to get the food to the parties within an hour. The kids finally ate at nearly 3 o clock when the party began at 1. I do not recommend having a bday party at this spot.
Awesome place!!!!!! The owners and the staff are wonderful people!!! My daughter and myself have the best time always. So if you use common sense, plus safety and you don't take what's not yours. I'm sure you'll have a great time too.
Love this place!! My family and I will be returning for sure.
So happy to see this place thriving! I started coming here as a kid, and took my little one here recently and it was hopping! Super friendly staff and owners, we'll be coming here regularly!
WOW??, This place was ?AWESOME?. I took my wife and daughter just to check out a rink other than United, and I was awesomely surprised at the family atmosphere, the floor was huge and they actually had activities which made it that much more exciting. The staff was friendly and very personable. If you are looking for a ?AWESOME? time, where you can take the whole family and NOT break the bank. This is the place. CLEVELAND?S BEST KEPT SECRET.
I love this rink so much that we will travel over an hour to skate here. The owner's are absolutely the best. They have such a warm welcoming attitude and their daughter (who also works there) is great with my children. They encourage families to spend time with one another by NOT CHARGING PARENTS during certain hours. You don't find that very often. Yes there are rules but they exist for a reason. Safety is paramount. I highly recommend this rink to everyone!
Staff and facility itself is fine. The parking lot, or lack thereof is the problem. When it rains, the lot of mud is one giant puddle. Not only did we ruin all of our shoes, but had to buy more socks before skating
The owners and workers are the absolute sweetest. It can be a little crazy with the amount of people sometimes but it's really enjoyable skating around here. I've been to other skating rinks before and this is by far the the best I've ever been too. Greatly recommended!
Staff is extremely aggressive. They basically all just yell at you instead of communicating . They're enforcing rules with threats. Some of the rules they are enforcing would be resolved if they had more equipment for new skaters ( the carts ) In the first 40 mins here someone ( employee ) asked me if I was ? stupid? and another person threatened to call the police on a different customer for legitimately questioning him about the shoe policy ( as in how can she safely teach her small kid to skate if they
They did a great job with my daughter's birthday, were great with the kids, and super helpful making the plans and keeping then. They even let me change the date without any hassle. And who knew I could learn how to skate at 39?! We had fun! Thank you!
My son loves it, however I am not a fan. His school parties are here and they have a great time, but the speaker systems are terrible, of course overpriced concession food, and there is an exit door which kids grab onto for support, but it flies open (and kids do too if they want). I had to get up and close it, only to be "told" over the loud system the main lady was on her way, I was just trying to help ??. NBD that little kids use the wall then the door handle for support then fly out that door because t
It was my first time taking my grandson (was a birthday party for a school mate) he had so much fun..... He wanted to go the following day???? makes me happy to see my grand kids interact with other kids instead of being on those games and phones.....
This is what the owner did to my daughter and she was the one that was being jumped, he held her down on the ground got 7.5 minutes, even though she told him she couldn't breathe. My son tried to get her and he told my son no he was not letting her up, she was screaming and crying, I had to take her to the hospital because he almost broke her arm. And the other people she was fighting with where never touched, seen them in the video drinking their drinks laughing and all. They where never touched when the f
Fabulous place to skate!! If you are ald skool like me, they have a lot of pieces on their rink from other area rinks that don't exist anymore! Great maple floor.
Don't waste your hard earned money or time. The owners and staff are rude and downright mean. I took my daughter's to skate for the evening. The owner told my daughter "I'm watching you" and then proceeded to accuse her and a friend of being a drug dealer! Seriously?!? There is by far better places to take your child for a evening of fun. I will never set foot in there again. I'll spend my $ elsewhere.
Such a nice skating atmosphere
What a great rink! Nice sized floor, super friendly owners, great amenities (party area, etc). They have poured a ton of money and work into this place, so if you haven't been here in a while or thought it was closed down (which it was for a while), you need to visit again. Once the floor is recoated in a few weeks, I will probably be able to rate it "excellent".
Worst experience ever! A group of my friends and I went there thinking we would have a great time but as soon as we got there we asked if one person in our group had to pay to just be in there because she had a boot on. She was already handing the owner the money when this was asked and so the owner took the money and a few dollars out of it and told the girl to come around to talk to her. The owner told another worker that she would be able to stay and watch while the rest of the group skated, but she rude
Awful experience. I am normally not picky about places, but the attitude of the older lady who I assume owns the place pushed me over the edge. The skates were outdated; I had to exchange several pairs because either the wheels or the plastic were broken. They ran out of pizza, and microwaved the pretzels and nacho cheese to a bare minimum luke warm. I was not allowed to take two drinks past the "snack area" and there was no where to sit in said area. I told the woman there were no seats, so she made a man
Brought my kids here for the first time this evening. It's clean, affordable, and fun! The staff was very kind as well.
The floor is really nice, I thought the owners were really nice to my family. I come here on occasion. I think it would be nice if you added an adult only skate night .
Rink is really small, floor isn't smooth. Saw a male staff member push a child down punitively. Felt like I was in a daycare. Never going again.
So much fun!!! Used to go when I was a teenager and definitely will be taking my kids every weekend. Very clean facility and friendly staff!
What a dump. The skates we rented should have been thrown out 5 years ago. The quad skates were torn and I got serious attitude when I asked for different skates. The blades were so worn out none of the ratcheting buckles worked. It is not fun to skate when the skates won't even stay on your feet. They have attitude and rules about shoes and coats in the room were rented for a party. They even sent so far as to claim fake health department rules. No, you want to rent lockers. The kids didn't hate it, bu
Much better than I remember very nice floor now. Update: We skate here weekly absolutely awesome family friendly place. Family owners try to keep it safe and family friendly. No craziness ever, much better than United Skate fights of America
City Skate Center in Painesville is a great place to take your family. It's not overcrowded, the place is clean, and the staff is pleasant. The grandchildren had a good time. Can't wait to take them back again!!!
This a fun place for a birthday party or just to spend a few hours. It's a little dated so it basically feels like a skating rink should feel like. They are sticklers for outside food but the food served there is good so you don't mind it so much.
My children love skating here. The owners are great as well as the staff. If you have a bad review maybe you should teach your children some common manners and sense.
Great place to come hang out with kids 4 and up I want to say. I recently found out that they have this type of walker for skating. It's a great tool to help those new to skating and/or young ones. They have a concession stand with snacks to enjoy while you're there. They also have an arcade area that has lockers available for renting to leave personal objects. Just wish all their games worked and that all the skates are fully functional. Aside from that, it's a nice family place.
The owners are very nice and really enjoy being a part of the community. I live very far away. But I would love to visit anytime I can.
Excellent experience for my children?s birthday parties. Great price and awesome service from the staff. Highly recommend for parties or any occasion.
We had my son's 7th Birthday party here. He had a blast with his friends! Staff is very friendly and great service!
From 3 stars to 5 stars is a hard climb for me. That is how my post started a year ago when we started looking for skating rinks and getting into skating. It followed with some criticisms founded by a frustrating time locating the place and inexperience concerning rinks. I wish I knew how to leave the old comment here so a person could see the difference between now and then. I had given 3 stars then, I've upped it a star. Over the last year I've been to private owned rinks all around the area and some big
Friendly staff. Reasonable prices on food, drinks and candy. Well kept rink and clean tables.
Be aware, they're closed on Saturdays even though the website says 1 - 4 PM.
Had the best time at city skate!!! We had our daughters birthday party there!! We had so much fun!! Staff very friendly!! Would definitely recommend to family and friends!!!
review number two I have no clue how this place is still in business. Literally just wanted to have a good day with my sister and the family owned business owned by donkeys were extremely rude started with the skates then they wouldn't let me step out for a smoke and finally served me sour water calling it lemonade and refused to change it
This place is so much better than it used to be! I went here as a kid and as an adult, it's really awesome to see it updated and cleaned up
We celebrated our kiddos birthday party over the weekend and had an absolute blast! The floor is awesome, the staff was fantastic, and everyone was so helpful!
Nice family who owns and operates the rink. It does have a skate shop. large floor is nice, smooth and well maintained. Games and snack bar also open to host parties in the party are
The owners stole my daughter-in-law?s Penguin plushie. she cried for weeks on end. She still crying to this day she just called for 2 hours because she missed her penguin donte. she is heartbroken all because the owners so for penguin plushy. they never gave Dante back. my poor daughter-in-law never saw Dante again. Dante was her best friend and only friend. and now Dante is kidnapped by some fifth grader who is Dantes ex they dated for three months they have for kids
Friendly staff on my visit. Lively music. Snack bar, game room. Very reasonably priced. The minus is that the parking lot is not asphalt/cement.
City Skate Center in Painesville is a diamond in hiding! Don't let the tricky driveway and lack of street signage deter you from finding the best place to skate in Ashtabula County! Clean, big and family-run and oriented, the City Skate Center surpassed our expectations as a venue for my son's eighth birthday party. The party room was well-decorated with a table already set up for cake, treat bags and presents, and family members served our party pizza and refreshments. We were graciously told not to wor
Food is very inexpensive! $3.50 for a piece of pizza which is pretty big, a small icee and a ring pop. What a deal! Unbeatable prices in 2022!
Absolutely love coming here made us feel right at home . The staff is very helpful ,friendly atmosphere, very clean reasonable prices. ??
2 stars is being generous. So many rules, made it really hard to have fun with the kids. None of the arcade games worked.
We had a blast with our 2 yr old. We were there for a birthday party. It was perfectly nostalgic.
We were there for a birthday party and had so much fun!! My little is 3 and they had skates to fit and a "walker" to help him skate (with Dads help of course!) Everyone was very friendly and helpful!
Affordable fun for the whole family. It's one of the remaining places that I used to go as a kid, and now my kid loves it there. Nostalgic
Great floor to skate on. Had a great time with my kid and his friends. Staff made the time very enjoyable time. Skating not over crowded. Great time.
Good people, great kids environment! Adult as well. Would recommend it to a friend.
This rink is large and the floors are in great shape. I'm a seasoned skater and good floors are a must. Outside could use a bit of sprucing up and they need better signage.
Somehow, City Skate has become Unpopular. I suggest on my side, not to go here,Citizens Of Painesville. Surprisingly, due to their "Policy", Kids are not allowed to "Hang Out" in the rink seats (Next to the Concession stand). Want to know why? He said I could cause Vandalism. 1 Person. How? Plus, I don't like skating in the First place. I had just gone to Watch and Take care Of my Brother. Think Twice before heading here...I would call this "Policy" A Crappy one. EXAMPLE: SCORES FUN CENTER Clerk:Hi you w
Took the kids to celebrate first week of school completion .very friendly staff and all the more advanced skaters gave good advice to my 4 year old that gets discouraged that he's not great at skating yet.. very impressed
I go here every week and I love it so much because it's a great place to hang out with friends
Great, inexpensive way to spend an afternoon with the kids! Love this place!
The floor here is amAzzzing! Silky smooth fresh coat!! The owners are friendly and they really care about their skaters. Its worth it to roll around at City Skate Center. CLEEEAN! ALLLL-SK8
Great place to have birthday party! The Little's do a fantastic job.
It's amazing I go every day and am going tonight they are nice and have very cheap snacks that are gooddd
Prices fair- kids all skated until they could skate no more! Party room has been reserved for 7yr old birthday woot woot!
Great place for family fun!! Staff is very friendly and the prices are great!
I've been taking my kids here for years
Had my kids bday party here. Real fun and fair prices. Will be back soon.
Awesome seating rink! Great family fun for a great price! Perfect option for kids birthday.
The Male Staff were very rude to parents as well as children very nit picky. children that can't skate but were trying not allowed to hold on to the railings for support never seen anything like it.
Had my son's birthday party here. Great place
Awesome rink, floor is in great shape and the owners truly care about the skating community. They have classes you can take and an awesome speed skating team that competes often and nationally.
Welcoming environment for all ages! We look forward to coming here each week
Excellent spot....May I recommend a weekly adult skate, 21 and over...until then, Tue and thur at pla mor is the spot...less excellent rink, but no kids in the way! Lol
Always have a great experience at city skate center . My family and I come every Saturday night and have grown a great relationship with the owners of the skate rink.
My son and I just started going, went as a kid all the time happy its still there for him to enjoy
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
