I really enjoyed visiting Chinatown Fair Family Fun Center. It was a fun and unique experience. I loved how it felt different from other arcades, and it was nice to see a bit of the local culture. The staff was super friendly and told me about the famous Tic-Tac-Toe Chicken. That story made the place feel even more special. I didn't get to play with the chicken, but just hearing about it was fun. Overall, it's a cool spot to hang out, especially if you want to see something different in the city. I'd defini
Crazy how in a couple of years this place went from 5 stars to barely 1 star. Most of the games don't work. They took away the bathroom. A lot of the games seem to be bootleg. And the worse part? $30 game card gets you 5 games. That's insane. Dave and Busters in the middle of Times Square isn't this expensive. Sucks to see what happened to this place. Crazy how they can charge so much for games and still can't afford to clean the place up and replace letters on the sign. Hopefully someone buys this place an
This place is a fun video arcade! ??? Chinatown Fair Family Fun Center is a great spot to enjoy some classic arcade games ?? like Mario Kart ???, pinball ?, shooter, Dance Dance Revolution ??, Air Hockey ??, and so much more! You can buy a game card ?? and load it with credits through the self-service kiosk ?? using cash ?? or credit. ?? The staff is super friendly and helpful! I wish I came here more often!
This is a damn shame. This arcade, a once highly regarded, extremely well known staple of NY, is now a sick joke, reduced to an absolute shell of its former self. I used to come here back in the day and it was amazing. Had such a neat underground vibe to it. Nowadays, barely anyone comes here, and whenever I do go, its almost completely empty each time. People probably realized they were getting scammed, and that they could get significantly better bang for their buck at Round1 or even crappy Dave and Buste
My kids had fun. Aside from the worker who was acting like he ain't wnat to work or answer questions it was. A throwback experience we enjoyed! My kids really enjoyed it. There's no food there it's really small, it was not crowded at all at it cost about 25 dollars for a few coins on the card so it ends up being a bit expensive.
The arcade was air conditioned which was great esp on such a hot day. You will be comfortable as you play. It is clean inside and all the machines seem to work. There are rhythm games like ddr and jubeat. It would be great if they had maimai someday??. I hope this local arcade can be supported and stay in business !
Went here with a great friend for the first time and let me tell you I had a blast. It was on a Tuesday night, the place itself was pretty full, but not packed. The games are good and so is the atmosphere.
Small but mighty. Old school arcade vibe with DDR and fun new games all in good working order. Open til 2 am but the kids working clearly wanted to close early. Try the Godzilla VR game!
Small but with great variety and good picks of arcade games. Guitar Hero with working guitars; quite a few dancing machines including DDR, and Mario Kart . Only problem is it's a little expensive, 20$ will let you play about 5 games. Still pretty good for a quick good time.
COMPLETE RIP-OFF. $10 card paid for one game of 2-player Space Invaders. So that's about $5 per play!!! I reloaded $20 on the card and that covered one game of air hockey, one game of 2-player StepManiaX (dance step game), and one 1-player game of Mario Kart. After spending $30 on these games, the card had accumulated a measly 4 points. The lowest item you can redeem for a prize is 10 points.
Unique experience. Took my fianc?s niece and nephews ages 9-18 because we were in the area. They had a lot of fun. The arcade is small and walkways are tiny. A few games don't work. Feels like a forgotten space that won't be around too much longer. Glad to have been once.
With a focus on racing, rhythm, ticket-collecting, and novelty type games, Family Fun Center offers a good variety of machines. There is a large focus on two-player games, so visiting here as a couple or even a small group is ideal. At times, prices seem affordable such as in regards to their numerous dance machines, but in many other circumstances credits are spent much too fast as required credit amount to play is high.
Came here on a Saturday night to reminisce the old days. You buy a card and charge up money with cash or credit card. Once it's charged you can start playing games which differ in credit that you need. The breaking bad zombie game was really fun, so as the other games. They all work perfectly fine. Kind of expensive per game, and you have to pay per person if two players are required. Some regulars playing the dance revolution was mesmerizing!
Joseph was super helpful and kept the place running well. I had a Groupon and the process was smooth. Thanks for a good experience! We will bring our friends.
Kids had a great time. Brought a large group in to celebrate my 10 year olds birthday. Decent games and fair prices. Wished more games gave out tickets. But other than that good experience. The staff member on Saturday was very nice and helpful.
The way I did it ended up being 3 games for $20. Seems overpriced to me. A lot of the games are ticket based games which are great for kids. However, for how expensive it was I am not sure how you'd ever get enough tickets to redeem. See if there are Groupons or some other deal that will get you more credits for less money and then it could be a good spot.
Unless you use their (limited) Groupon offer for credits, CTF is usually a bit pricey. The service is fine, but the staff may be missing for an extended period of time doing god knows what. When they are present, they are extremely friendly and accommodating. The machines are extremely well maintained. I personally recommend the Pump It Up and the Sound Voltex machines, or Dance Dance Revolution if you prefer an alternative to PiU.
Had a fun 13th birthday party in this old school arcade. There's a mix of kids and adults so not a place to drop little ones off solo. But if you want to play some games at a fair price in a vintage ny setting go here.
Cool spot. I went with my wife over the weekend. We had fun and I would definitely take my son back there and my grandkids.
Quick. Imagine this. Imagine if this opened around 2015 / 2016 with the standard American Arcade games, and Sound Voltex, Dance Dance Revolution, and In The Groove. now today it's Sound Voltex, Dance Dance Revolution, Pump it up, and Jubeat. This is the only arcade in Manhattan that has SDVX, Jubeat, and Pump it Up XX To my knowledge. Then bring back the other bits. All they did was start catering to a different genre of gamer. The Rhythm Gamer. Now ask me, a new person to the RG Scene about this place.
No worker to be found. The games are incredibly expensive and the DDR machine pretty much took our money and we didn't play. You are better off going to dave and busters
The guy at the front desk was on his phone the whole time, there were machines that needed to be fixed but the guy just sat there. Pretty small arcade, games are hella expensive ngl.
It's small. It's cramped. It's a freakin arcade in Chinatown and it's been there forever! Sadly you can't still play tic-tac-toe with a live chicken, but if you want to find the only foreign rhythm games anywhere around, this is the place! Some cool old timey stuff like Knock Down the Clown mixed in with lots of ddr types and some racing and shooting games. Fun weird prizes like you remember from childhood too!
This place used to be iconic with classic arcade games like Robotron, Pinball and Galaga maybe 20 years ago. They've been replaced with modern games, the magic is gone.
Great place for all age groups. I went with my 7 YO and he had a blast. You can play video games or win tickets for prizes. The staff was really awesome - despite being a hoppin Sat night, the staff let my son hem and haw on which toys he wanted when exchanging his tickets. They have some great prizes - stuffies, toys and smaller stuff so everyone feels like they ?win? something. Thanks for staying around for so many years!
Love the selection of games here, lots of great rhythm games. If you come here, make sure you come in an even numbered group because no games are 3 players, unless one is okay rocking it solo. My personal favorite is Wangan Midnight. Staff are always nice, its fun to see them play as well.
They have Guitar hero.. ?? being back to the 90's when everything was more fun. I will be back...??????
Love this place, have been going here for years. I love the nostalgia ?? and will continue to support the last of our era gaming entertainment ??
Good selection of rhythm arcades but bummed that I couldn't get the discount that they offer online. Went there for sound voltex and yes, they also have jubeats and many dancing arcades. Machines are working and most look new.
best place in manhattan for rhythm games. has ddr, guitar hero, sdvx and a couple other things. manager and people there are super friendly
Good game selection, but man is this place expensive. Like $4 per game expensive. They also make you load money onto a card for credits, the machines don't take cash. The credits system also doesn't make any sense. I loaded $10 onto a card, but each machine takes something like 13.7 credits. I have no idea how much $10 gets you in credits, and was surprised when I was only able to play like 2 games with that. I won't be back, and I love arcades
It was a fun time. The game do take alot of credits but it's exciting for the experience.
The service is horrible, front desk wasn't helpful at all, the guy was sort of annoyed, they don't even want to talk, they just point at things.
Just save your money go to max funland in Brooklyn instead. This place is small and over priced.
had fun for what it was, but honestly doubt i'll return. the space is tight, when getting a card you think hmm not bad for $20 you get around 100 something credits.. wrong ALL the games have a weird credit system and the cheapest credit for a game in there was 14.7 and the prizes are wack. you can have a good time just be ready to spend and run into people if it's busy
Incredibly fun arcade center in the center of Chinatown. Not super loud, which I appreciate. Features air hockey, Mario cart, basketball shooting games and a lot more. Fairly pricey, but always a great time. Takes all kinds of major credit cards including Amex, however I believe it's physical cards only. Don't think there's staff on site to help out etc, or at least they're not always there. Generally a clean place.
This is a chill hangout spot. A small arcade that's not pretentious like Dave and busters. Although they have fun games, many are constantly broken. Just wish they could invest a little more in their equipment. Would definitely make a big difference.
Went here mostly to play DDR and ITG while staying in Manhattan. It's a pretty good place, Pump it up and StepManiaX are in a better condition and they had Pump it Up Phoenix, which was still pretty new at the time of my visit (Nov 2023). The DDR is a white cab, pretty rare to see outside of D&B or Round1 but could use some work. The panels had a lot of movement and the pads weren't leveled properly so they were shaky, it was better than the average random DDR but worse than Round1 or typical modded pads. T
Very fun, nostalgic spot with a decent variety of rhythm games like DDR and Guitar Hero. Not as many games were you could win points however, which may disappoint some kids. Honestly, it's not really geared towards young kids (compared to other arcades). Lots of adult gamers but folks were chill. Minus one star for the cramped location, lack of point/ticket games , and no wear to sit down other than some awkwardly placed chairs.
Clean, and adequate game selection, but the prices are a little steep. Air hockey costs like 5 full dollars. We had a lot more fun at Stanley?s Claw Machines, even though it's also a little pricey.
Very clean place with quick and easy access to playing games. However, the selection is quite underwhelming for their prices, except for a couple of unexpected games like VR Godzilla. There are no longer any fighting game cabinets, so don't come with the expectations of what some people said this place was years ago.
I used the Groupon and brought a group of kids to play last week. They were so nice and kind, gave us extra tokens, and ensured each child got a cool prize at the end! Would definitely recommend!
Good for DDR and shooting games. They have a couple of driving games in the back including Mario Kart (wish they would just make all Mario Kart). They have prizes too based on tickets loaded onto the card. You can load the game card via a credit, debit, or cash. Some of the games just ate our game credits. If that happens go to prize counter and tell them it happened. They'll remove the swipe and you'll get your credits back.
Went here when I was a teen. Continuing the tradition with my niece. She had a fun time, they use preloaded cards now; no more tokens. You swipe at games to spend credits the sum of your tickets adds directly to the card. Exchange for your gifts at the counter. Theres a lot of newer fair style games but they still have 2 DDR machines and Tekken. And yes, there's still a line for DDR 18yrs later. Love it.
As an arcade owner, I would recommend this historic arcade. Great collection of redemption, rhythm, and fighting games. They use a card system that can be reloaded. Easy to find on Mott St. In Chinatown in NYC. Highly recommend this as a stop for anyone passing through NYC or locals.
This place is honestly a total gem! Very fun and cute traditional arcade with a ton of different games. A bit pricey but a very good date spot or even if you just want to hang out.
Took fiancee here to enjoy some games after ramen next door and some drinks. It is a fun arcade, and they have many Japanese games actually from Japan. They also have a PURI photo booth, which is always fun. There is a card system similar to Dave and Busters to recharge and spend on games. The only real drawback to this place was that there wasn't a bathroom.
Perfect place for pump it up players ???? They've got the newest version "Phoenix 2023" and the machine is super well taken care of!! Totally recommend it!!
Small place tucked into the heart of chinatown. Despite the small size, it still does a good job carrying a wide arrange of video games. Some games are DDR, table hockey, shooting games, basketball shooting games, and more. The prices are fair. If you are new to the arcade, you input money into a machine that generates a card just like in Dave&Busters that has tokens. If you are a returning customer, you can always refill your card once empty. There are some fun toys and more interesting ones if you get a l
i really love this arcade! it is in a convenient location and has so many great games.
It's a very small place, but that's Manhattan, selection for the size of the place isn't bad
Updated review for 2023: I have been going to this arcade for several years and while the games are great, the prices are insane. The cost of playing any game has more than doubled since I first started started coming here in 2017. However the price at which you buy credits is the same. If you were to put $20 of arcade credit on a card now, you could play two games. Two!! Best to save your money and not go here. Old review: I can't believe I don't have a single good photo of this place, but it's a really
Small and friendly arcade that's packed with a lot games. A few games were out of service.
Will give this 5 star if the arcade have 4 cabinets instead of 3 for Maximum Tune 5dx+. If there was 4 then it will attract a lot of players to create a competitive scene and potential tournaments which will help the business. Nonetheless I'm a satisfy patron as long as the arcade have Maximum Tune ??
A little expensive but not crowded and a fun experience you will always remember ??
Seems clean, games are pretty fun but some games give you points others don't, we should be a clear sign stating which ones you get points with. And they should really have a bathroom even if you have to ask the worker for the key to use it, at the time me and my friend went there wasn't an actual work attendant, she came in every 15 to 20 minutes looked around and left again.
This is an awesome indoor arcade in Chinatown that has been around for YEARS! Lots of new immersive games and lots of AC! Two DDR platforms. Tons of fun! It's a place to meet a lot of interesting people and amazing video gamers to this centralized area.
Dingey and sometimes a bit dangerous. Small Arcade. Have been frequenting, since 1991.
This place is so fun!! There's a great variety packed into a relatively small place: something for everyone. The ticket payouts are fair and there are some decent prizes. The staff seemed cool and much of it is self-serve for getting cards loaded, etc. They're open late, so get your dim sum and then play it off.
honestly one of the worst arcade experiences you could imagine. it's small, hot, and overpriced. as if the credits weren't expensive enough as is, games will double charge you on top of being 19 credits. no hospitality from the one staff member with headphones on and his head down on the counter, who conveniently went missing after i was robbed by the games, half of which are out of order by the way. honestly just please don't come here, don't believe all the tiktok hype. your time and money are much better
Very few arcades left in the city. Was fun to take my niece and play for a bit. Expect to spend around 30 bucks per person. When I went the card machines were having issues taking payments so there was a bit of a backup to be able to play. Games are fun. They have some old stuff as well as some new stuff.
over $2 per game on most machines! :c it got too expensive. too bad it's the only arcade in Manhattan with a variety of music game cabs :v still has like best music games in Manhattan
This place isn't the same without the chicken. If you don't know what I'm talking about, that's okay. There's a lot of what you would expect from a video game place made these days. Although strangely a lot of DDR, perhaps they're catering to the neighborhood. I didn't see any video games from yesteryear. The place was better lit than it was in decades past and a lot cleaner and everybody seemed younger. I guess that's how it goes.
One of NYC's best gems. Imported Japanese rhythm games heaven ???? (check their website for list of cabinets)
A shell of its former self. A smaller Dave and busters. Not a single fighting game in the entire place as of February 2024. I understand wanting to cater to a newer audience but don't forget about us folk who come to places like this looking for that experience.
I used to come here all the time with my friend to play DDR but now they've doubled the prices making it impossible for us to afford playing. We unfortunately won't be coming back. There's really great french toast around the corner which made us feel a little better but we still can't play DDR here anymore!!!
Ive been going to Chinatown Fair for years. Love linking up with old and new friends and playing dance games all day. Lately, the prices on all the dance games have been increasing and its getting way out of hand. 13.7 credits is ridiculous. If you're not paying $100 for the "bonus" credits, that's about 3.50 a game. I'm giving this TWO stars only because I really like the staff and the community that hangs out there. Good vibes. Please fix this!
I don't know why people love this place. This is literally a cramped, small, overpriced version of Dave and Buster?s in Times Square. Here at Chinatown my date and I paid $40 for 210 chips and games were around 13-15 chips each per person (some of them higher). That's literally 7 games we could play as a couple. We ran out of chips after just 30 minutes. That's just too expensive for such a small, uncomfortably cramped and weirdly located place. In Times Square (Dave and Buster?s), otherwise, you can get 27
I have 2 sons both 8 years old who wanted to go this place as it seemed so exciting. However when I entered the staff was extremely rude to my family. My son was in the verge of tears however he held it back in. This place was something else. Never come here unless you want to waste your money.
Honestly not what I expected. Despite being labeled the "biggest arcade", it's a small place with maybe 20 total machines. Not super clean, I felt bad for the staff, and priced high (easily $5/play on many of the games, so be prepared to wipe out $20 in minutes). That being said there isn't many arcades that aren't bars around here so might be worth it for kids or if you're in the area.
I love this place! There's air conditioner and their games are so much fun. I only gave it a star less because maybe one or two machines might not be repaired so you could end up losing a credit on the dancing machine since the foot pads don't work and there's not a lot of space to walk around. But you can definitely not die of heat and the games are pretty good. Hockey table is a must try!
Friend left a wallet there; a very awesome and professional employee ran after us to return it! He gave me his name but i forgot it unfortunately, but it is the male employee who was setting up a new dance machine on 3/17/23 around 5:30pm; thank you so much!
It's really cool to see a arcade in this day and age but the prices was a little high in my opinion, for 10$ you get 40 credits but each game is 5 to 10 credits so you'll only vry to play 3 or 4 games for 10$ if you pick wisely. Also there is a very good crape shop just next door so still a very nice places to stop by.
This is my favorite place in New York. It is a historic landmark, began as an arcade in the 80s. It hasn't run continuously since that time, but since then it has become a great haven for video games. Focusing on Japanese games: musical, fighting, shooting, and Jackpot style, they rotate some out every few months so it's always worth coming back.
I had such a good time! Shout-out to the staff and mgmt; nice assortment of games, and I was beyond thrilled to try the new Stepmania X game. I also noticed the room was cleaner than in years past. Arcade fans seeking an authentic experience will love Chinatown Fair! Comment for improvement: a game/cabinet (or two) should be placed in between the Pump it Up and Stepmania X machines (having them right on top of each other is distracting). Spacing out the dance games and adding acoustic panels to the room/ce
This is a legendary spot I'll definitely be back great selection of arcades loved the racing games one in particular one in front of the counter remind me of Import Tuner for the Xbox 360 & performance games like guitar hero & dance dance revolution to get active????
Pretty run down place. Games are older, but we did have a lot of fun. Air hockey, basketball connect four, unfortunately skeet ball was out of order asking with a couple others. Worth looking on Groupon for a discount, not sure it would be worth full price. Not a ton of games.
The young adults in our group had a wonderful time It's small and cozy and not too noisy, so no sensory overload
As a arcade going Yankee, the pricing on credits is ridiculous. You will save twice the money by buying a ticket to the LIRR to Hicksville and spending 100$ on credits at the Round 1 there then spending 100$ on credits here. Despite the ridiculous prices the rhythm game cabinets (the main reason why the local arcade goers go there) have been properly taken care of by the community; the customized pads on the pump it up and DDR cabinets are second to none and will grant you the best DDR and Pump It Up experi
We stopped after walking through Chinatown and taking pictures. We had two 15 year olds and two adult women. We had a great time. It was a nice stop to take a break from walking and was a lot of fun had by all. Would definitely stopping again if we were in the area.
It's cool but not a place I'd go to just to place some games. The place is small and the games are properly maintained. There's a great selection of games but just not a whole lot. I'm assuming it would take you about an hour to play all the games once. I was kind of hoping CFFFC stuck more to the classic arcade stand up machines and pinball for the go to arcade nostalgia experience.
Great place for kids, although the tab could run pretty high without you noticing so be mindful! Initially I had a hard time understanding the ticket credit system as the machines use fractional credits off of your game card, but eventually I caught on. Would definitely suggest them to move to a simpler system. My kids loved this place. Many awesome games to play. I want bored either as I was fortunate to observe some real crazy experts playing some games at lightning speeds with amazing control! Wow! T
Such a hole in the wall and such a damn treat. It is small, cramped and all of that adds to the atmosphere. The selection of games isn't that grand, but they're all fun as hell and they'll keep you busy for a while. Make sure to be courteous and let people pass or play games if they are waiting! Amazing dance and rhythm games! Open late so make sure you stop by!!!
small and fun and cute. little gem. nice people. I will be back! you can load money onto a gaming card using cash or your credit/debit card. Your tickets earned load to your card automatically. It's a small place but had a good variety of game types inside. Perfect little escape from every day life!
Cool place - a little expensive for tokens though.
Lots of fun games. Great spot for date night. The Downfall is the games are expensive. Maybe for $20 you get to play 10 games. It's a card system so you add credit to your card, and swipe it on the game machines to play. Choose your games wisely. The Mario kart is fun for really novice gamers but there's really no challenge otherwise
Had a great time can't wait to go back
Don't do it unless you have time to spare. Really small place. Kinda smells like stinky teenagers. We burnt through a $30 card in 12 min flat. Had enough tickets to get an invisible pen.... Sad kid then. I would avoid it. But, do eat at the crepe shop next door or the Chinese place across the street.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
