CargoCade

CargoCade

Reviews Summary

The Cargo Cade offers a fun, nostalgic arcade-bar experience with a lively atmosphere and a variety of games, praised by many for its friendly staff and unique vibe. However, inconsistent service, particularly with ID verification issues and occasional unprofessional behavior, has drawn significant criticism. Some find the game prices high and the noise level overwhelming, while others appreciate the fair pricing and energetic environment. Overall, it’s a polarizing spot—beloved by regulars but frustrating for those who encounter service mishaps.

Customer Reviews

We recently hosted an event at The Cargo Cade, and I truly can't say enough great things about the entire experience! From the very beginning, the process was smooth and stress-free, thanks to the incredible manager, Patrick. He was not only accommodating and responsive, but also genuinely kind and easy to work with. His attention to detail and commitment to making sure everything ran perfectly didn't go unnoticed. The venue itself was a huge hit with our guests?its laid-back, casual vibe combined with the

Very good service and nice bar tender. All the arcade games and other games worked well. I particularly loved the jukebox because those are hard to find these days. Simple drinks at fair prices. I had a great time here! One thing to note is that it's a very loud bar, especially because it has concrete floor, warehouse like walls, and zero rugs or other things to dampen the sound. The furniture is also metal. Some of the games (billiards, air hockey) are so loud that they ping and ring in a painful way. Tha

Super fun place Music was very loud but cool games

I'm a Gen Xer & I've spent double my weight in quarters at arcades growing up. The games here take me back to a different time & era. I can play the games I grew up on & have a beer?! W.O.W.! In the grand scheme of things, the games aren't too expensive & neither are the drinks. I've been a gamer for over 40 years & this is one of the places that reminds my I started gaming on the first place. I started my kid gaming & they absolutely love this place. We play pool, skeeball, FPS games, & race. We can't leav

Great place to hang and the kid was happy! You can eat your food from the restaurants in the area there. They have a full liquor license and several types of arcade games.

Really awesome spot, we saw it across the street from the Alcove Beer Garden (where you can park), and went over. I didn't catch her name, but one of the bartenders made us the BEST Moscow mules and was incredibly sweet. Good variety of games, I don't think the prices are outlandish at all if you've ever been to jungle rapids or the like. Definitely recommend the air hockey and guitar hero. Cute little photo booth too.

Went here when I was visiting my sister from Michigan. The bartender thought my ID was fake and bent it right in front of me. It was a very real ID and I am in my mid-twenties. The bartender was very unapologetic and essentially couldn't have cared less about her mistake. She did not confirm with another bartender or use a scanner before she bent my ID in half on a hunch. Now I have to get through TSA to return home with a creased ID. Not to mention, half of the arcade games charged our cards and didn't wor

Brittany was our bar tender and host for the evening, she made our time special and was sure to tell me the wine and champagne options! Great vibes and drinks, thank you Brittany for showing us a wonderful time, keep being a radiant shine!

I walked in, looked around, and walked right back out. The prices on these games are wild, with everything starting at $1 per play and many of them costing more than that. It was really dark, parking was a pain to find, music was blaring so loud we had to yell, and it definitely felt like more of a bar vibe. The door we entered didn't have a logo or anything on it either... just a blank door. Because of its location in the cargo district, I'm sure it will be popular, but I don't see this being a business th

My friends and I wanted to check it out and get a drink, we are all of age and but two of us don't have NC licenses. They said they had no way of verifying whether or not they were real after bending all three of them (including the NC one?) She also tried to peel the lamination on mine, which I obviously cannot easily replace as I don't live in the state that issued my ID anymore. If you don't have a North Carolina ID and don't look over the age of at least 30, make sure you bring a passport or something (

Had a great time checking this place out. Staff is cool and helpful, and the games are great. Will be back! Brent is a legend!

Had the best afternoon ever after seeing my son with Ruby! Great drinks, wonderful conversation and too notch service. High end bartender at a local joint.

Such a fun bar with the best games! Ruby was so sweet and helpful!!

So fun! Grateful to have you in the neighborhood.

The coolest vibes with the coolest people (I'm in love with Ruby and Clea)

I have honestly never written a bad review of an establishment but after tonight?s experience at the cargocade, I feel compelled to do so. While trying to have a good time with a group of friends, an off duty bartender named Ava started verbal altercations with various members of my party, making us feel completely unwelcome. She was clearly heavily intoxicated and sitting on the bar. The people around her were obviously trying to keep her in check but she made us feel so uneasy that we left the establishme

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
