My friend suggested Burger Barge. He used to go there like 30 years ago while in college. He's told me about it several times but I rarely get down that way. I happened to be in the area Friday with another friend and got a call asking where I was so I told him and he reminded me of the Barge. To shut him up I went there and I'm so glad I did. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was really cool!!! I'd absolutely go back!
Good place for kids. The food was decent. Shared the fish bowl with one other person and it was good at first but then very syrupy. We finished the whole thing and didn't even catch a buzz and made my stomach hurt. Pretty sure there was not any alcohol in it! I would take the kids there again just not order the fish bowl or any of the fufu drinks, stick to beer!
The food's delicious flavors were a true delight to experience. The attentive service provided an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. The atmosphere created a welcoming and memorable ambiance. The variety of activities available added to the overall appeal. It was a truly wonderful experience.
We sat in the bar area which had our preferred laid back, funky vibe. The food and drinks were both fantastic. Waiter was super friendly and happy to help. Will definitely go back.
Again updating my review again. Stopped in again. Keeps getting better as time passes, drinks are better for sure and the burger is always good for sure. Well, I'm upgrading my review today. We ate in the game room since the tikibar was pretty warm. Our waiter was awesome. He was attentive and took care of us very well. Food was way better today and was like the old Barge.
We loved this restaurant! We went here wet and cold with hungry kids. It was perfect, the decor was fun and interesting to look at. Service was great, burgers were huge and came out fast. The kiddos loved everything, they ate their fried fish, and part of my burgers and a ton of fries. It's very kid friendly with booths or tables to choose from and coloring books. The bathroom was clean, so was the whole restaurant. We loved it, prices were great. Highly recommend going here with the family.
I was looking forward to eating here for so long based on the photos online. They must have great social media marketing skills on their team, because it was nothing like what was posted. It was run down, work surfaces cluttered, tables were noticeably dirty, and just generally unkempt. The food was okay, but not great and not as enticing as pictured online. The service was terrible. There was no one else in the restaurant, yet we had to flag down the server who was playing on her phone or walking into the
Not bad! The food and drinks arrived in a timely manner and the staff was kind. The burger was very filling (which is good). We got onion rings as our appetizer and they were great with the sauces they came with. This restaurant had a Hawaii vibe to it, a good selection of games, and I even got to listen to my favorite song on the jukebox! I only gave it 4 stars because our server didn't come back to check on us, and I had to look for napkins- which I found in the beer box they use for the condiments. Ours
The Tavern Burger and $2 blueberry margaritas were amazing. The $3 Bloody Mary bar looked delicious. Will definitely try that next time.
We love coming here on Sundays for the bloody mary bar. Great seclection of unique burgers and a whole lot more. We are always trying something new. Never had a bad time at the Burger Barge.
Pretty decent place to eat. Looking at the place it looks like a place you would want to skip. Don't let looks deceive you. Pretty decent burgers, pricing wasn't too bad either. Very big burgers. The river chips are awesome. Staff seemed pretty friendly when we where there and it was pretty busy being a Saturday noontime lunch rush. I would recommend checking them out.
So, this place has been on my foodie bucketlist for awhile now. Everytime we are close to this area, someone has always picked somewhere else to eat. So, we were in the vacinity today, and we thought well great, we'll meet up with some of our friends, and try it out. We were seated fairly fast, around 12:30, our waitress had our drinks out quickly, our food was super fast and both our waitress and server were extremely nice and friendly. The place was completely filled by 1pm. Not to hot inside. The temp wa
The chili cheese fries are really good, but the burgers patties are barely seasoned, so the burgers are pretty bland. This makes it pretty overpriced for what you get. It's a mid burger joint with the Wish version of Margaritaville esthetic. Probably won't go back, as there are a hand full of better, cheaper burger joints, closer.
This place needs a review from Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives! Huge burgers and great fries! The staff is friendly and the family friendly atmosphere is awesome! Definitely will be back when we are in the area.
Came in from out of town and at first glance was very unimpressed the outside and inside it's very rundown looking and dirty like they don't do alot of maintenance and really makes you question what the kitchen looks like since general maintenance and cleaning seemed to be thrown aside for a long time. ALL THAT ASIDE.. the food was fair priced and absolutely delicious. I got the Philly steak and my fiance got the IL burger and we both left very happy with our meals!
I had wings, shrimp skewers, and a burger. Everything was very good. Nice place for a walk. Friendly people. Seems to only be open on the weekend, but I'm glad I stopped in. Food was great, and the site was cool to see. I highly recommend checking this place out when in the Peoria area!
First off, if you're looking for an upscale ritzy place... This ain't it! But if you're looking for an unassuming no frills place with awesome food and atmosphere, this is the place! Service is ok but did I mention the awesome food! Prices are fair for quality and portion size. We will definitely be back!
One of my favorite stops for dinner. I wish they were open more days during the week though. Jeff and the crew are always smiling and happy. I have not one bad thing to say. See you guys soon.
Our first time there. Food was amazing! We'll definitely be back
Review Visit: April 12th, 2012 The Burger Barge is not actually on a barge. But it is a next to a river that has a riverboat casino and plenty of traffic going up and down the waterway. Burger Barge is a staple of dining in the East Peoria area. It's just one that you would never know is there due to it's location. So, you can consider it a hidden gem of sorts. The place is located off one of those access roads that runs parallel to the main road. Not only that but it's about 25 feet lower than the main
The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. They have adult sections as well as family sections. And a few games to play for the kids while waiting for food
Miss the old place on the river. The menu seemed smaller then before too. Husband had the Tavern Burger and enjoyed it. Comes with an egg on it. If you like a runny yolk, tell them otherwise they cook the egg hard. Also tell them not to put a knife in it! I had the New Steak and Egg Burger. It is suppose to have Rib Eye steak on it. Yea you guessed it. It was more like processed roast beef lunch meat. To be more exact Steakums! The hamburger was cooked good and the mushrooms were good too which we
Honestly walking in you already know its an escape from traditional dining. This gives Bay area vibes. The music the art on the wall rest assured you're in for a treat especially if you are celebrating and would like a great mixed drink there is definately great options here. First of all the burgers are so DELICIOUS??!! The food portion is perfect. The fried pickles were also real good. Im not easily impressed but when the waiter doesn't even ask me how I want my patty and later proceeds to serve me a Juic
Awesome food!!! Started with the cheesy fries, perfect app to share. Burgers tasted amazing, perfectly cooked. Service was great and attentive. Laid back ambiance, will definitely come back.
Kahuna hamburgers ?? are HUGE!! And they are absolutely delicious! The drink were good! Will definitely go there again when in the area!
Don't make it here often, but when we do, It's a super fantastic restaurant!!Waitress on spot, food service fast, The flavors are the Best!!!I would recommend Burger Barge to anyone ??
My butterfly shrimp was slightly overdone. I would recommend the buttered shrimp. I got the 3 shrimp combo.
This was our first visit and they did not disappoint. Wonderful selection of burgers, and it was $2 raspberry margaritas day, yummy. Just an FYI, the big Kahuna burger was as round as my big German noggN (maybe not but it was big). You can definitely split it. Fried clams were good too. Be careful women when using the restroom, you may get stuck in there as the door seems to stick. Makes for a funny story though. We will definitely be back
Went here last year for the first time when I was pregnant and thought it was amazing. Now I've gone back since having my baby and it was just ok. I can tell that the beef is of a better quality but there was this after taste that didn't set well with me. My husband had a upset stomach the entire 45min drive home. The onion rings and fries were amazing. Service was decent. The outside is relaxing and chill BUT you get the sense that the entire restaurant hasn't been cleaned or dusted in YEARS and that got m
The staff was very friendly. The Burgers was tasty. The ambient was special and nice music was playing in the background.
Not the best burger I ever had?. Service was not that great waiter barely checked on us never got us refills asked multiple times for silverware never got any until our food came had to ask for ketchup 3 times no one ever asked how our food was or if we needed anything we had to ask for it the fries were very very salty asked if the had cherry pepsi was told yea to find out it's is not it is pepsi with cherry grenadine in it that is not cherry pepsi there is a difference had to wait for our check to be b
This place was great, just shanty at the end of the road. Food was really good, the burgers are absolutely huge. Had a very comfortable feel to the place. Anytime we are in town, we will be stopping in!
Very awesome atmosphere. Happy hour is great as well! Best burger I think I have ever had.
I can't believe I haven't reviewed the Burger Barge yet. TLDR, best burgers I have had. Go there. Read for more.... I found the burger barge in Peoria when I was there for a week in 2012. The burgers were so good, and the location so neat, that I ate there most every night for a week. I've bragged to my kids about the Burger Barge for 8 years. We'll have a burger locally, and there are some I really like, but I'll nearly always add, ?But it isn't the Burger Barge?. Fast forward to Covid 2020. My son and I
If you're hungry for a great burger in downtown Peoria or East Peoria, the Burger Barge is the place to go! If you're looking for fine dining, this won't be your place! If you're looking for a great place in a casual and relaxed atmosphere, this is your place! The servers and bartenders are very friendly and the food and beer is as good as you'll find anywhere! If I'm thinking of having a burger and a beer, the Burger Barge is my place! :)
The first time being there, food was good, the service was awesome, and the prices were a little high. But besides that recommended.
A bit outdated. A cute theme, but maybe it's time to modernize. The meat to bun ratio was disappointing, with the bun being way too big. In essence, it's a burger. The dock sauce needs to be more spicy or have a bigger kick, it was tastless. The staff was good, service time was reasonable. The fried cheese blobs were actually pretty good. However, I'm sure there are better burger places in town.
Burgers are really really good. Staff is nice. Fun place to hang. Indoor and out door seating. Gaming. Kids welcome
It was good. The inside has a bit of a Sponge Bob feel. There are quite a few arcade machines and games on the inside, so it definitely has a family-friendly vibe. We went on a Sat for lunch; it seemed relatively busy with several larger groups. Our order was taken pretty promptly, but took quite a while (maybe a bit more than average for a sit down burger place) to get our food. But, as I said, there were about 2-3 larger groups of 7-9 people. Once their food came out, the other orders seemed to come out p
The food was delicious. You can tell they use quality ingredients. Jessica, our server, was very attentive and very kind. This was our first visit to this location and we definitely plan on returning
Great food and a fun atmosphere. It was great with kids, lots of cheap games for them to play.
Okaaaay what's not to like?? It has a vaguely dirty vibe, but once you suck down one (or two???) of their unbelievably cheap happy hour drinks (dollar margaritas, eh?), sit back and look out over the water toward that classic Peoria skyline, and finish off that giant tenderloin sandwich...well---it's hard not to be at least a little happy. I'm a fan.
The food here is great plus the view is a winner. Great bloody Mary bar too. We've been coming here for years and we always enjoy it. The menu had a lot to choose from and they have so many ways of ordering a burger you might be surprised what they offer. I tried the Moo Shroom burger and my husband had the Buy the Farm. Great food, nice employees and a fantastic outdoor area to sit with a covered area, one with sun shades and another out in the open. Looking forward to going again when we are in the a
At first it is unassuming but you walk in and it is a light fun environment. The service was great but the nail thing was the food I had the Andre burger big Kahana and it was the most juicy burger that I've had in a while.
Burgers!! They have a big variety and are delicious ??.. fries were also good.. all employees were very welcoming to me..even though my order was to go... the server made sure to pack my things very well and made sure my order was right... looks are deceiving..when I drove up and walked inside, I was like , hmmmm... place is older and decorations everywhere..
This place is pure fun! Creative, interesting and unique burger menu. If you can't find a burger you like, check your pulse. I am going to try the "Big Kahuna" next time. The service was great. The staff seem to really enjoy their job. Perfect place for lunch after riding along the Illinois River!
Great place. I was excited to try their burgers, they all sound amazing. I took 2 of my boys there for dinner, and the burgers came out cold and dry. I hope it was just a bad night for them, as it could be an amazing place for a great greasy burger that we all can enjoy.
This was not good. I walked in to know one even looking at me. I had never been to this burger barge the old one never this one. It says seat yourself but I'm not sure how that can be when every table was dirty from previous guests. I'm not sure they even got cleaned off the whole hour we were there. Our server was not personable and the other server I asked to help was rude and would not help at all. They brought our food out and never asked if it was ok. It was not correct no one ever asked. My son wanted
Pleasant surprise. Food was very good. I love the chips.
We love a good visit to the burger barge
I've been a lot of places this is by far the worst service I've ever experienced. Our server took 10 minutes to get over to our table, didn't introduce himself when he came over. Took our order and disappeared. Our food came out after about 30 minutes and we still never saw our waiter so I walked over to another server and asked for another drink she said sure let me get your server, 10 more minutes goes by and he finally comes over and asks if we need refills, then you guessed it disappeared again. We aske
Super fun! Can't go wrong for a fun place to eat, drink, and be merry with friends! If you like burgers, check it out. They have a super big burger menu.
Typical Saturday eats in Central Illinois. Tasty food and spectacular river view with a restaurant full of ambience.
Great place to bring the kids as long as you have money for the arcade games. They did seem a bit short staffed though. Their chips over salty but the fries, tortellini salad(side of the day) and coleslaw were good.
I went with some friends and each of us had something different. For appetizers we had mushrooms and pretzel bites. The bites were good but had a bit more salt then one lady liked. She just knocked it off and enjoyed them. Three of us had burgers, they were delicious and large. The fries were a hit. One lady had the pie , I think that was what it was called. It was like a horseshoe style. She kept eating til she said I'm taking the rest home to eat later. A salad with shrimp was enjoyed also. We had a goo
Awesome place and excellent price and get way more food than you pay for
Very nice ambience, delicious burgers and nice music. Manager and staff very friendly. When we arrived the manager made us feel welcomed. Inside looks as if you were inside a barge. They also have a place for children with a full Arcade.
Food was amazing and our waiter was super nice.
i was impressed with the size of there burgers. it had great flavor and was juicy. my only complain would be to keep it a little more clean inside.
Great burger, that's about all you really need to know. Don't let the building fool you, it is absolutely worth checking out.
It's not what it used to be, but we can honestly say that about anywhere. The food is good, they have some great hush puppies for apps, and I can't say enough about the taco chipso burger. Sad to see the OG location go, but the new place is alright, get the old hours back and I feel like it would become great again.
LOVE Burger Barge. The food is Awesome... prices are Fair...service is wonderful. It's an experience you need to experience.
Good service, reasonably priced food! The burgers are fantastic! They have some games there for kids and adults as well. Definitely worth the visit if you are in the area.
Cool place, tons of burgers. We always stop when we drive through.
Meh, haven't been to a Burger Barge in years so figured we'd give it another shot. Make sure you go to the bar area unless you're bringing a bunch of kids. Didn't realize the main area is pretty much a chuck-E-cheese with screaming kids bouncing around although the bar area is a bit more laid back. My wife ordered the aloha burger and I got the tavern burger as well as cheese blobs as a starter. Burgers were slightly burnt and lacked flavor and the cheese curds reminded me of over fried cheese curds you'd f
Food is meh and not worth the price. Games were fun though
This may be the best burger I've ever eaten, it was delicious! Huge variety of different burgers and it was tough to decide on one. This is a place that feels it would've been massively popular 20-30 years ago, but isn't any more. They have games and skee ball and air hockey, but for whatever reason those may not be the draw that they were for earlier generations. Regardless of the atmosphere though, go here for a burger!
We enjoyed our burgers and fries. Would have liked an alcoholic beverage but long day in the sun. Decided against it. Some Parents have no damn clue. No need to allow a toddler to run around sheiking the entire time. Other than that the burger hit the spot.
Large burgers with a lot of choices. The original place by the river has a well used feel to it that gives it kinda of a tropical island vibe.
I was really surprised at the way everything was put together. There was something for everyone to do as a family. The food was excellent and the service was great. My granddaughter and I, will definitely be back again.
Not to bad of a place few great foods
Food is great, staff is friendly overall, felt a little rushed out this last time even though we were the only ones outside. The music my group played on touch tunes kept getting skipped and I don't mean fast passed I mean skipped, there was nothing wrong with the music played, kid friendly, no swear words, my credits were used so yea I'm a little annoyed by the skips I've had control of the skip remote too in past work and rarely did I ever do that to customers it's rude even if their music sucks js. Overa
The food was absolutely gross. For a 12 to 15 dollar burger, we'd expect something edible but non of my party could finish their burgers. 2 out of 3 we're feeling sick immediately after eating. The amount of grease produced by the burger seems like the patties are freezer burnt or they place them in the fryer rather than a flat top or stove top. Maybe the grills are just soaked in grease and not scrapped clean. Who knows. For instance, the fried pickles and the anchor meal were sitting in a half inch of gre
Love the anchor. The rusty anchor is also really good. The cocktails were amazing. Every time i go i get something new and have not found anything i dont like. We sat at the bar tonight and Dakota was bartending he was amazing.
I went down at 1:10 PM on a Saturday to place a $100. Pick up order for 5 o'clock and they can't even do that. I was told. never in the history of a restaurant business. I have never heard of a restaurant not being able to handle a time call Used to be a good place years ago I don't know what happened. I was going to call the order in closer to time. But since it's such a big order, I didn't think they would take it without me paying first so I went down to pay for it and was told I could not place it. Good
The double cheeseburger is wonderful. You better be hungry if you order it. And the French fries are great. My family members order different sandwiches and all say they are delicious. The decor could be much better but I didn't go there for swashbuckling atmosphere, I went there to get stuffed with the best cheeseburger in the area.
Perfect little dive bar/grill by the water's edge. Best burger this side of paradise!
Slow service. They got food order wrong, offered to fix, but wait time was long.
Burgers are supposed to be thick and juicy, and the Burger Barge didn't disappoint. Everything was awesome from the food to the service. I'm cheap, so the price was a shocker, but we'll worth it. Service was excellent. Our drinks never saw the bottom of the cup, and the waitress joked with our kids. If you haven't been, you should definitely go.
Delicious food and great service. Can't wait to come back with the family. Great recommendation by a friend ??
You gotta check this place out if you are in town. Great burgers and cold beer. Great view of the Illinois River and outside seating.
Haven't been here in 4 years. Was used to the old location on the river. But this location did not disappoint. Definitely will be back. Great little place for some really good simple food
Loved the food. I ordered the kraken burger big kahuna with the one pound burger and grilled cheese buns. Excellent place
Always 5 star.. 250 mile round trip for a burger. Awesome atmosphere on the river front.
Five stars, the fries were perfect and the burger patty was thick and well cooked. Themed restaurant interior so interior is island/beach.
Not quite the same as the old building. Food was good!
The food was not at all what any of us were expecting. I looked at a sign that said "Best burger this side of paradise" take the sign ???? down ????. I do not like negative reviews but I will never go again. I would literally walk to McDonald's before standing in line for yuck food horrible experience ??
A Great experience all around! Very good burgers!!!!
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
