What a cool little spot for kids and for kids at heart! ;) They have a good variety of games in this small space, extremely friendly and welcoming vibe, along with a good selection cold beverages and hot snacks! I love that you can pop in an enjoy a cold draft while your kids play where you can see them all for a very reasonable price! This will definitely be a regular stop when we're in the area. *BONUS* The might we came in, they were doing a bingo fundraiser and I won an awesome, all-natural goody gift b
The little fam and I stopped in after an amazing hike on the Washington side of bridge of gods. My seven year old was stoked for the arcade games! The owner was so friendly and kind. He even washed my babies bottle himself! He played multiple games with my oldest. Awesome service and conversation. Will 100% be returning, and recommend this cute spot for a nice break and cold drink. Thank you!
This place is so neat. It gave me Sub Shop 15 vibes from way back in the day up there on the heights of Hood. It's a snug little den filled with games. My boys had a great time. He really does gauge you on the snack prices though so make sure your kids eat beforehand unless you're planning on snacking there. Pretty brilliant move though, I mean kids gotta eat. The owner was super friendly and his place was just immaculate. It was a fun day trip I'm glad we went.
What a great treat in Cascade Locks for the kids (and parents)! The boys (7yo and 8yo) almost never get video games, so the ability to explore and play a host of games was amazing. The owner is a beer connoisseur and had a great choice of beers for adults. Must do for families!
Buddy's is a welcome addition to Cascade Locks. Indoor activities for bad weather days can be hard to come by. Great selection of games, good snack options, enough taps and cans to keep it interesting, friendly staff, and a real sense of community.
Cascade Locks is an amazing stop on the way to Hood River -- and I always check out Buddy's Beer Arcade. I love the games, the beer, the people, and the owners! NBA Jam, X-Men, and IPAs?! Great place to bring kids or to just act like one.
What a wonderful experience! Plenty of super fun (and nostalgic) games to play. I wasn't expecting there to be 50+ games in such a small space, so I was pleasantly surprised. The owner is super personable, friendly and very knowledgeable about every game in that place. Very family-friendly!! You can get your kids a soda and some goldfish, while you enjoy an ice cold beer and some goldfish. You check-in upon arrival and you basically open a tab. All drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), snacks, and the time
Awesome arcade with a good selection of beers, ciders, and light snacks. The perfect place for gen X parents and their kids to bond and have a great time.
Great atmosphere and cold brews! Lots of video games and family friendly.
I came here from SC and this place is awesome. Great mix of football, games, and tap beer. Came here with family and young kids and we had a blast.
This place is awesome! Great people- kids will love it!!
Great place for arcade games & friendly owners. Next time we will make it an official stop on our trip.
The owner was is so friendly and invited my pup and I in for cold ciders and AC on a super hot day! Will definitely return for the hospitality, games and drinks!
Great little hang out! Friendly staff.
Cool place to play arcade games and drink beer
Best business is the gorge! Great games, beers and the owner is awesome!
Great local beer and fun arcade games that are free to play. It's a good time!
Great place. I love the games and good beer too.
What a unique place! Small, but packs a punch.....wonder, wonder, wonder, or check it out!
Great little arcade plus beer!
Cool and friendly owner.
Lots of friendly nostalgia!
This is my son?s (and my) favorite spot in Cascade Locks! Great games, cold drinks and the friendliest atmosphere in town!
Awesome place! Clean. Great value and the root beer float was amazing!
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
