Great game shop to come by and by older games. I see they have video game tournaments? looks cool unfortunately I don't have the time to participate. But any video game fan will love this shop. Great customer service that makes u feel welcomed and prices are at market value. But lots of older games prices are very reasonable Will recommend to any video game lover??

The one thing that I will miss most is the many Japanese anime fighting games, especially my all time favorite BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma, and with that in mind, I never lost a single match with my favorite character in the game. Sweet memories indeed. And I hope one day in the near future that another fgc style arcade will open right here in the heart of Brooklyn.??

Very clean. Superbly friendly staff. Machines are clearly shown good care and love as they're all working and clean. Frequent themed events. Everyone that goes is friendly and in a good mood. This is one of the few Arcade Style places left in New York. They deserve your business and support. If you're looking for a nice spot to hang out and jump back in time a few years with some games this is where you wanna go. Saturdays for extra incentive: the family brings in some Empanadas with an absolutely amazi

I can't say how amazing this place really is. If you're a fan of fighting games and just games in general man. Always hosting tournaments and you can host events there as well. Steve is the owner and he's just the nicest dude. Do yourself a favor and if you're in the area then obviously stop by to say what's up and play some games.

Super location. $16 entry for all night games. Byob. The sell snacks and some food items. They have collector items for sale up front.

Not a single word in any language in the world can describe how great this place is. If you are a fan of retro games and/or love playing fighting arcade games, this is the place for you! If you are ever in Brooklyn (for whatever reason) and have $5 to spare, have some fun at the arcade for an hour. Honestly, it's an amazing place to be and I look forward to coming here more and more!

Best place for retro arcade and they also have games consoles and accessories for sale. Bottom line cool people great food and always you can find someone that plays your games with.

Yes yes yes yes it's giving your best friend's basement but no BO, clean bathroom, no one passed out in the corner, etc. HUGE selection of games. Went with girlfriends and still a great time

I came here right after checking out Chinatown Fair Family Fun Center with the hope of actually finding fighting games, and I was not disappointed. Their selections were top-notch and covered multiple generations of gaming on both floors, and the pricing for playtime felt very worthwhile, especially if I were to plan to stay for 3 or more hours. There are also quite a few other customers willing to play with you, so there aren't any negatives to coming with friends or just by yourself.

This review comes from the heart. I have met some incredibly kind , professional, knowledgeable, people at Brooklyn Games Arcade and their sister store Brooklyn video games. This is a must go to for Retro video games . Great fair prices and good environment. Great selection of video games and arcades . You can even see some beautiful pvms. This review does not do it justice you have to come in and see for your self !!

This place really had such cool different arcade machines to play including almost every console too if your a nostalgia gamer like I am then this place is definitely the place to go too I'd definitely would go again

The second store to an already legendary Retro Gaming location in Brooklyn. They have gaming cabinets and other setups available to play for a cheap venue fee. Make sure to check them out when you come to Brooklyn, great way to kill an afternoon

Great, but the sticks for Third Strike were kind of clunky. (4 gate joysticks)

If you love old school retro gaming this is the place. Staff is very knowledgeable on the culture and tech specs. Quality selection for old school collectors.

Great spot. GF and I came by wanting to play a pretty obscure game and they helped us out a bunch! Tons of fun!

This place is great. They have great inventory for sale from consoles, to games, and other video game related merchandise. They have a great selection of games to play with something for EVERYONE. There is a wide variety of skill level players from beginners to professionals. They host multiple tournaments a month. The employees are EXTREMELY knowledgeable and the crowd is VERY friendly. If you are a fan of video games you will love this place!

One of the few legitimate arcade setups left in the city. Very affordable especially if you get the $15 all day pass.

I've never really went here other than to buy the occasional funko pop until as of recently, and I have to say : this is probably the last legit arcade in NYC. With a first floor of beautiful Japanese arcade cabinets with almost every game imaginable to a second floor with home consoles that will transport you back to your childhood: this is definitely a hidden gem in NYC that is worth writing home about. You don't even need game tokens . 5 dollars an hour or 15 for the whole day is a great deal especially

It's a very nice place- I've been on multiple dates to there. A large group of regulars, they have everything from vintage games and streaming sites. Only issue I've ever had was a controller didn't work and they couldn't replace it- but even then I rate it highly.

Great little spot on 4th Ave to play some games and buy retro gaming!

Small place with few games nothing crazy but finding retro games getting hard ??

Best video game store ever I went today and Has not my type but very good retro oldies :) And mr Sosa if your watching this I really appreciate it - Ardit Berisha

Absolutely phenomenal. How is this even better than the first? The first one was very nice, and the second one, while having more people, has an arcade in the store. Always hosting tournaments, great retro games.

When the owners up this second location to their growing business I was extremely excited and happy for their success. The owner and the workers are all very chill. And it's a great atmosphere to be in. Very knowledgeable about all things Video games and gaming related. Be sure to follow them on Instagram at the same name and see Check them out if you're in Brooklyn.

Truly astonishing how many video games are on offer. Staff was extremely friendly and the place never fails to provide a good time.

There is nothing like this store anywhere else in NYC. Esteban (the proprietor) is endlessly professional and personable, a joy to deal with. He prices games fairly, buys your used games at a great price, and his stock rotation is godly. He posts daily on social media and I find myself needing to mute his posts lest I spend all my paycheck on retro game goodness.

Stumbled upon this place last July and somehow completely forgot to add a review. This place is a haven for the FGC, and preserves the arcade culture like nowhere else. Nothing else compares. So grateful for everyone here, and the fantastic community.

Heaven on earth. If ur a gamer this is definitely the place to go. The employees and owner are amazing. Their knowledge in gaming is indescribable. I come here couple times a month. I live in queens btw. It's a long trip but definitely worth it. Atmosphere is amazing too.

very good retro gaming store if you're a retro purist, lots of arcade cabinets you could play in and prices are really good. although the staff is very knowledgeable, they were unprofessional. I visited there for q's and guy in the counter kept going on his phone and it made me feel very dismissed. I'd go back if staff made me feel more attentive and welcomed.

Do not trust negative reviews. Fantastic setup . Amazed at how its setup for people to not just buy games but play them. Store is growing fast and they got some really good stuff including Sega Saturn stuff. Just like there first location all the staff is welcoming and chill. If you visit one location its worth it to make the trip to both. Less than a 1 minute away from train N and R to 59th Street in Brooklyn. Follow them on instagram and twitter for updates on stock. You will not be disappointed, I forese

This is the best place to go if you enjoy arcade and if you like retro / modern games. Esteban is knowledgeable of current trends. Bring your family and they'll have a blast playing the arcades. I live in the Bronx but, I will definitely come back again with my cousins to play the arcades. Do yourself a favor and come to Brooklyn Games & Arcade! By the community, for the community.

Very courteous and professional staff, nicely located about two blocks away from the 59th Street Brooklyn station, has a wide variety of items, consoles, and arcade games; the monthly events never disappointed as a lot of town come from all around; be on the lookout for their get togethers Friday and Saturdays for every game of choice. Just don't damage the cabs and you'll do fine.

I've stopped by a couple of times now since their grand opening last month and it's been a fantastic experience! They've continued to expand their inventory selection by now adding a big Funko Pop wall of figures for sale and even more arcade machines downstairs (MvC was their newest cab addition). Esteban, Andy, and the rest of the team are super helpful and friendly as always. Overall, the top retro gaming store in NYC, a must to check out!

Very helpful to those who have been out of the game for a bit. Excellent haven of games new and old, they have built an Excellent community that is welcoming to all.

Very fun place to explore your favorite arcade/console games. The store staff show great service and are very inviting. You can't get most of these system setups at home. Always a great selection of games for sale here.

Fun for cheap. You can spend all day here and pay less than 20 bucks. Still you will never be able to play everything there so you will always have something different to do when you come back

Revived in me my love for video games (now considered retro cause I'm old). They also have a great selection of newer games. I picked up a PS4 game in pristine condition as well as a few Funko figures. Their arcade/pc set ups have more games than you can even play even with the day pass (which I highly encourage)

If you love fighting games, you need to check this place out. They have dual SFIII Third Strike cabs in great shape, some neo geo cabs and a ton of other amazing games to play. They clearly know their stuff. You can also bring your own arcade stick that's compatible with PC or modern consoles. I traded in some games and what I got for credit was great. The store is new and they are building up stock so definitely bring in some games if you are looking to unload some. I highly recommend this place.

One of the best shops in Brooklyn. Super friendly great game selection in the arcade. Always a tournament going on. O I forgot quick with the response on Instagram and when you call

Great service, have taken my system to get cleaned twice already, apart from the incredible gaming options, can spend hours here before noticing what time it is.

Up and coming. This place rocks. Best prices and are open late. Marvel vs Capcom 2 is what I come for. The tournaments are exciting as well. Come by and check it out. You won't regret it! ??

Walked right in, got what I needed done quickly. No complaints. Will be returning soon. All gamers should stop by, especially if you are a fighting game player

Nice Place, Awesome people, great Time:Play Count Ratio. Compared to CTF, I can get about 5 - 6 games of Jubeat in compared to 2 at CTF. highly recommend for brooklyn locals, especially with the abundance of fighting games there.

Great staff, great atmosphere, clean store. One of the few places where they host tournaments often. Love the community. Go there now!

Amazing customer service! If you're in need you can DM on Instagram and they are super helpful. They do trades for in-store credit which allowed me to buy a switch! Great communication, and great services.

owner is a great guy. appreciated his attitude and the prices/selection is great. also has a real nice looking arcade. definitely a stop in Brooklyn.

Went in and got an awesome collectors edition PS4 controller for only $55! It was so clean you'd think it was new ?? Good people and awesome games!

Got a great deal on some older games (4 for $20 bin) and they even had a great selection of PsVita games. Edit: came again and now the arcade is even better than before! Ps5s, xbox360, sega, ddr on ps2, you name it!

Smells good, got plenty of games, and the staff is friendly. Also the arcade is a gem, full of many classics. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent place to get your game on!

Coolest guy running the store, really helpful with any questions you may have. Can see that he's really passionate about community he developed. Gonna recommend to my friends at work

Real arcade with the realest people. Really fun experiencing tournaments here, and I'm really glad I discovered this spot. FGC heads, this is the place!

10/10 The setups here are well maintained, the staff is great, and the people that show up are top notch. Very grateful to have this in my borough, will continue to show support.

Well worth the trek if you're into fighting games !! Thanks for the lovely energy <3

Haven't been in it but I do know it seems pretty freaking awesome and I hope I get the chance to be in it an try all the old arcades and buy awesome old/new games??

Great spot to play some games and buy some Retro games their prices are great

One of the best place near Manhattan for fighting game station. Staff is awesome, place is really cool and give a nice feeling of community.

I have been trying to find a place where i could go and play some arcade games and this place is amazing with a big game selection and tournaments

The place is nice the basement has alot of game stations and feels cool down there. A nice hang out for retro gamers.

I can't speak to the arcade part of the shop, but the used video game section is just okay. Not a very wide selection at all, and prices are a bit high although not outrageous.

Best place to be. They have arcades, retro games and pop figurines, etc. The owner is a pretty cool guy.

Love the store and I get my funko pops over there the guy is cool and fun love the place arcade is good and everything is cool the games and funkos

Super dope spot. One in a million. Great customer service. Only wish they had more silent hill stuff :( lol

Friendly staff, ?? affordable fun, retro games. Not fancy, but that's something we like.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
