Bowlero Wallingford

Reviews Summary

Bowlero receives mixed reviews, with many praising its modern facilities, cleanliness, and friendly staff, particularly for parties and group events. Positive mentions highlight good food, attentive service, and fun atmosphere. However, criticisms focus on inconsistent service, rude staff (especially at the front desk), high prices, and poor lane availability. Some bowlers complain about dark lanes, excessive oil, and lack of heavier ball options. While many enjoy their experience, others face disorganization, long waits, and unmet expectations, particularly for birthday parties. Customer Reviews

We go to this location quite a bit. We purchased the summer season pass which has already paid for itself. Two games and shoes are included in the pass which is more than enough. The check in staff are very friendly and the wait staff are also very nice. We go here with our teenager and her friend. It is always a nice time.

Absolutely worst experience i?ve had out in a longgg time. My friend group of 5 went out for my friends 21st birthday. two of us ( over 21) ordered drinks and when the server came over she asked for our ids. one of us newly 21 still had a vertical id and she said it was corporate policy to not accept it. whatever, that's fine. she comes back to the table with our food and says in order to refund the drink she needs to take the card that paid for the order, refund the entire thing, and reorder it all again.

I've bowled at many alleys across Connecticut, and unfortunately, this was by far the worst experience I've had. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I decided to try this location based on a recommendation from someone in a previous league. I came with three others to use some prepaid league games. At first, we were given two lanes, but then another staff member came over and said it was store policy not to give two lanes on weekends. This was confusing because if we'd just walked in separately, we

I am astonished with the experience I had at this location. I applied for a sever job, came in and waited for 40 minutes just for an employee (who was very nice) to come and tell me they were not even hiring for waitress positions and that the manager was currently on the phone. Why would you post applications for a job that is not even available? I wasted over 1 hour total on this pointless endeavor driving and waiting there. I cannot believe the management is so poor that it was both posted as the wrong

This place has gone down hill real fast. Been coming here for the past couple of years and it has been fine. Lately though, the lanes have been atrocious. My 190 average is down to a 110 if lucky. It doesn't matter what day of the week you come or the time of day, the lane conditions are always lousy. It appears they oil the lanes for the leagues. I can no longer recommend the facility for public bowling.

Awesome time. Great atmosphere. Took my boys and nephew to bowl while being on spring break on a Thursday, and it was awesome time. Wish cost was a little cheaper but other than that everything was awesome. Very clean and great service from the lady at the front counter. Highly recommended.

Went there for a birthday party. Great fun, decent food. I wasn't paying so I'm not sure how affordable it was but they seemed to have all kinds of deals and specials during the week posted. Plenty of parking and pretty conveniently located on rt. 5 in wallingford

This place is fantastic! I scored a Groupon for 2 hrs of bowling including shoes and my kids had such a great time. The music was great, the place was clean and enjoyed the food. Only taking 1 star away, because the kids liked the small arcade, but the prize machine was broken. Really looking forwards to coming back here.

Our lane bumper wouldn't come up all the way for the kids, the light over pins didn't work and the score screen would only count strikes after one ball was thrown lane 27. Asked for help after the first round and was told they didnt know why and to try and pull up on the bumper. After the second round, I went back to the counter and had to wait for about 10mins ( it was busy) Then got moved to a new lane after I requested to move. New lane had us on the third round and we finished playing ( I didnt want to

Older lady at the front desk/shoe rental area is extremely rude for no reason. Other reviews say the same exact thing so I know it's not just me. Otherwise the bowling alley is very nice and clean. They just have a miserable old lady ruining the experience for everyone.

They pushed us the unlimited bowing at 7 .. mind you we got there at 6.. and they failed to mentioned that they close 8 .. kitchen and bar closed at 730 .. why have unlimited bowing at 7 .. we didnt even finish one game never again goin to this location

Booked an event for 14 people, called to reserve the lanes, Francesca answered immediately, drafted up the invoice within five minutes and answered all my questions through email in a timely fashion. Very patient and kind to customers. Thank you!

Worst bowling alley I've ever been to and will never be back first when we got there the blonde girl in the front was extremely rude and then we tried to ask her how much it was before we bowled and she wouldn't tell us she just kept saying she won't know until we finishing bowling please learn your prices but then she put our card on file and after we finished bowling it was $136 for 4 people on 2 lanes which was absolutely absurd could of went to spare time and payed half the price

Clean and updated bowling alley! Super friendly and caring staff! Went to a work outing and we had a great time. Would absolutely recommend for a fun outing for family, friends, or work. The manager Trish was very sweet and super attentive! She was great to work with.

Was charged $75 for 3 games with two people bowling. When initially getting to the bowling alley I was told they hold your card and then charge you per game at the end. Was not informed that you pay per person not per lane, so $10 per person per game. Was told I had to give my card in order to play. Meanwhile they have a sign right behind the register saying ?play two games get the third 50% off?. What they don't tell you is that you have to request this special when you give your card initially. So they ha

Brought my son here for his birthday tonight to go bowling. Imagine my surprise when we walked in and were told all of the lanes in the whole place are reserved for leagues from 6pm on. That's absolutely ridiculous and it says nothing about that on their website or on their listed hours. Now we're having to cart a bunch of upset kids home on my sons birthday.

Definitely one of the nicer alleys I've been to. Had a birthday party with 17 kids, 20 adults and they all had a blast. It was very well organized, the food came out on time and was replenished on time. Also pleasantly surprised with the food quality. Staff was helpful and attentive. Highly recommend their party package.

Pro shop with Gary was a great experience, will leave a separate review for that. Alley looked nice but they had a league that night and I was unable to get a lane to test my newly drilled ball before league started. Edit: have come here two more times and each time I have been told there are no lanes available. See my photo for the crowd there. Not one person was bowling either night. I can't give it any better than a 1 star because I literally am not allowed to pay to play a game here.

Bowlero is a nice, state of the art facility with a very friendly staff. The lanes were clean, the house balls were plentiful, and the tech was everywhere. However, I am a bit old school and found the flashing tvs quite a distraction. The lighting was low on the lanes. As a straight bowler, with the brightness of the tvs glaring off the oil, I could not see the arrows much of the time, which was frustrating for me. Staff, five stars. Cleanliness, five stars. Food, four stars. Lanes, three stars (too dark, a

Talk about fun experience. The place is big, the atmosphere in clean, on top of bowling, there is an arcade, all the staff are friendly Trisha left an amazing heart warming feeling on us like she was part of our family. Def. worth the trip. Thank you to all the staff for leaving a positive experience for us.

Good experience. Clean facility and updated with digital screens and accurate pin count when playing. Asking for a tip at a bowling alley is crazy. I paid for the experience in the game charge and the shoe rental. What above and beyond service do you get at a bowling alley that warrants additional money outside of the service?? The answer is nothing. The system is fully automated. Tipping culture is beyond out of control.

We had so much fun and the lady at the front desk was so nice and funny! We will definitely be back

Very family friendly and staff behind the counter very nice , it will be a place for me to go more often

The bowling was fine but the prices are OUTRAGEOUS. $5 for a soda, $10+ for a cocktail that, as a bartender, tasted like it had a spritz of alcohol in it, and over $26 for 6, bone in, wings and a literal hand full of fries. They won't give pitchers of soda (unless you buy a pizza?) or water (after we already bought other food and beverages), and getting cups of water was like pulling teeth. We were already paying a ridiculous amount, per game, per person, to be there bowling! $100 just for 5 people to bowl

We had a company outing at this location. It was a great experience! Trish, the manager was very accommodating and helpful. Great time and great atmosphere

Great place to bowl. I'm on the Barbara Fox league. This season has been going very well. The change in staff was an excellent improvement. Lanes are oiled before everyone gets there. Food and drinks are coming out in a timely manner.

Nicely done, clean and comfortable. Only complaint was there were no heavier balls with smaller grips as an option. My grip is smaller (medium according to their current spacing), but I prefer a 12 or 14 pound ball, which only seemed available for a large or extra large grip. It made it difficult to grip comfortably. I don't play enough to justify getting my own ball unfortunately

I should've checked the reviews before coming in!! Lady at the front counter was VERY RUDE!! Treated my family frankly disgusting. Her tone of voice, lack of respect. And then has the audacity to laugh at the situation.aweful experience from the second we walked in. (It was giving racism) Cost wouldve been $190 to play 2 games for my family... We left in shock and disgust. Called another place $12 bucks shoes included 3 hr bowl open till 11! We payed $120 and had a blast.. U do the math

So many lanes so much fun

Pro Shop: not good. Took 2months to not have equipment ordered delivered. Overpriced. Bowling Alley: okay. Staff alright.

Don't use the online option to make a reservation! I made it for 6 people, but 2 people couldn't attend due to COVID. Staff at front desk told me to email customer service and I would be refunded the difference. Had an awful experience with customer service. They wouldn't even give a credit in place of a refund. Not only that, but they charge a ridiculous event fee when placing a reservation online. I've been here many times and seem to have an issue with one thing or another. Last time it was that I couldn

The games were good but we wanted the 7:00 unlimited bowling and the lady in the front gave us an attitude because apparently we were supposed to ask when they are the ones who are supposed to ask. It's their job not ours. Common sense to go with the unlimited games if it's available.

Food and bartender service was amazing Trish and the kitchen staff made amazing food can't wait to get come back ??

Kids had a great time! No stress just knocking down pins.

Some great leagues here that have been around for half a century, but still accept us young guns. Nice facility too, well maintained lanes, bar, grill, arcade, pro shop. It's a good house.

Went here this past Sunday with a few friends and we all had an enjoyable time! Even though we only played one game, we had a lot of fun and plan to come back sometime soon! This bowling alley is spacious and very clean. Everything here is reasonably priced as well. And s/o to the staff who made our experience a very pleasant one. Definitely among the best Bowlero locations I have visited.

We went on a Saturday night and discovered that this is not a family oriented bowling alley. You are greeted by two security guards who immediately ask ?are you planned on drinking tonight?. The music being played was inappropriate for children (cursing and content wise) and it was being played loudest right at the check in counter so we couldn't avoid it. While bowling, the system stopped working multiple times- and when continuing to another game it combined all our scores. We couldn't get help because th

Aww, man, where on my long list of things do I actually start? This Bowlero is the absolute WORST one in the world I'm convinced. The staff was terrible, I came here with 5 children and my wife. They shut down our bowling experience all because she chose to have her own drink instead of paying the 200% markup price. Instead of giving a warning, we were shut down. We ordered wings that took almost an hour long, and when I received them, I asked for blue cheese. The guy said, " No problem and sorry for the wa

Ordered over $300 worth of food that took over 2 hours to START getting served. Staff was very apologetic about the delay but nothing was done to help the situation. When we finished our games (after reserving 3 lanes), we were forced to find other tables as new customers were assigned to our lanes. We still had food being served 3 hours after our first order. The manager refused to refund our orders so our food and drinks were getting delivered to new customers on our old lanes.

Older woman at front counter was extremely rude regarding shoe sizes and pricing. After me and my girlfriend walked towards the lane we booked she made rude remarks about us to the SAME PEOPLE WE WERE BOWLING WITH!! Also extremely overpriced ($30 per person for unlimited bowling) compared to AMF in East Haven.

Do not come here. They did not give us discount that was written with big letters on wall. Lady was dumber than an infant and charged us three times as much as we actually bowled at an overpriced $90.00. They took our credit card and rung it up with tons of random stuff that inaccurate. Promised an arcade card and 6$ off and gave us nothing. All staff are morons. Never coming back again. Woman?s excuse was the buttons to give the discount is not there at the moment.

Plenty of parking. Nice atmosphere. Don't go on Fridays, it's for league only lol

Manager acts like she's defending the coast, never stepping foot here again

Fun atmosphere, average pricing. The lanes are a bit slick, but otherwise a good experience.

I wish I could give this place only one star. The worst bowling place me and my family have been too. To start I went with my family and we didnt know we had to pay by person, we thought that it was by hour. The person at the front didnt show any patience nor any desire to explain how they work. They were extremely expensive and when the woman gave us our lane I asked for help setting up the rails on the side, and her response was ?you can do it yourself in the screen? instead of offering assistance. Severa

Didn't like it at all. Issues with a promotion they had, which was misleading.. then they didn't want to refund me and were all inexperienced with the cashier. I personally wouldn't go again

Very fun atmosphere. Get there early! Gets really packed on a saturday. Clean, great bar service. Went for a birthday party and food was amazing!! Sliders, and fresh fruit stood out to me the most. Would definitely go back for leisure

It was a quiet night. We were a group of 18 and were easily accommodated. The kitchen delivered a buffet table behind our lanes of diy tortilla fixings (beef & chicken). All went well without any hiccups. The kitchen was quick to resupply the buffet as we under estimated. Great time.

This bowling alley is fantastic! The people that work here are super nice and extremely accommodating! Highly recommend! (Fun decent size arcade as well!)

Very nice, friendly staff. There is not much separation between lanes. The food was a bit overpriced but the appetizer platter was delicious ($33 or $38, can't completely remember).

The place to be, I haven't been since the remolded, until I walk in there on Saturday and was amazed by the ambience . The lady at the desk was ? well she could?ve done a better job welcoming us,?. The pizza wasn't bad. The guy in the kitchen was great. We came there to bowl , and we enjoyed it!!

Pleasant and very well put together

Paid for a 2 hour reservation. We were only able to get though 1 full game and were on the last frame of the second game when our reservations was cut off. Had it not been for the long wait to order the mandatory food and drink that is required to make a reservation, we would have easily finished both games. We asked if we could pay to finish one frame and were told our only option was to pay full price to start an entirely new game. We were willing to pay to finish our game, but literally couldn't. There n

Nice bowling alley. I can tell the place was updated/renovated relatively recently. The staff was nice at the front desk but the real gem was the wait staff at the bar/grill. They'll food service was speedy, accurate, and considerate. My only complaints things that I consider reasonable on the side if bowlers but understandable from a business standpoint. And they are that 1. There were plenty of lanes available and its clear I was there to practice. Why did I end up with a party of 4 one one side and a par

My host Trevaya Marrow was fantastic. All of my guest were so grateful and had so much fun. I made plans to come back soon. My daughter said she had so much fun.

Why this old lady at the front desk with the nasty attitude charge me for two games which is what I wanted then we played the first game and ended. When I went up to her then she tells me she charged me one game a person meaning two on the same lane is one game. Total rip off of $25 for one game was there for 15 mins

Are you ready for a supreme excellence bowling experience with great food and drink? Well don't come to this bowlero. It's got the supreme high prices figured out. But not good service, lanes, or house balls. If you're not into competitive bowling, throw up the bumpers and blow money, it's cleaner than some alleys. I expected about half the price for the experience, and when we finished bowling they sent more people to the same bumpy uneven lane while we were finishing our food, so we had to move. They only

Had a birthday party there for my son but the service and experience was lacking. It was very unorganized. Timing was terrible half my guests left before they brought out the make your own ice cream sundae cups. No knife for the cake or candles for him to blow out. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend for a party. The arcade cards were not loaded with money for the kids. The $5 gift card for them to return was expired 6 months ago. This was all a part of the package. When I needed help I could nev

We had a birthday party here yesterday and the manager and staff were really wonderful and accommodating. They were a little slow bringing out the pizzas so they gave us an extra pitcher of beer (for the parents) which was nice. After having parties at places like Pump It Up and Skyzone where everything is so controlled and the kids are herded from room too room like cattle and then taken into a sterile room for pizza - this felt more free and relaxing. The parents had fun too. Would do it again.

The renovations look really nice and we had a great time. My only issues are with the customer service and the lack of pricing posted. The service when we arrived was horrible. We waited for 10 minutes before someone behind the counter acknowledged us and when they did it was in annoyance and she used a harsh tone and clipped words. She said "you got a card?" And proceeded to swipe the card without telling us the total or what she was doing. Come to find out we get charged at the end. We were a bit blindsid

Got a Groupon thought it has a bigger arcade but just a few games. Groupon made it look like a lot. Really just nice bowling alley nice staff

Played a free game with the bestie last week (Promo from T-Mobile Tuesdays). It was a nice time. They have discounts different days of the week, so check it out if you're looking for a fun night out. I plan to come back with the family.

Always a great time at Bowler-o!

Absolutely LOVED my experience here. Drinks were ON POINT, staff was SUPER friendly and it was worth the almost two hour drive to check this place out. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good time.

I really like how they have I'm pretty sure on Fridays they have like glow-in-the-dark and of like that cool like party stuff. The only thing that I think that is changed this their service like for food because it's really slow. I think that they need more people at the front desk right when they walk in because so, the one guy that was there had to keep walking around to everyone that had trouble.

The pro shop here is great and they entire staff is amazing. Had 2 balls fitted to my hand and was only planning on a game or two for the afternoon. My son was having so much fun we played 4 games and ate lots of mozzarella sticks.

My wife and I used to come to this bowling alley all the time and always had a great experience. One recent night, I went there with my 8 year old daughter as she was super excited to try bowling for the first time. I checked their website in advance to make sure they were open and she wouldn't be disappointed. We arrived around 4pm to start our bowling only to be told they had three leagues that night and every single lane was going to be occupied. My daughter was naturally distraught and unhappy. I asked

it was fun. it's big, so lots of lanes. great for bday parties, especially for children. food and drinks, even alcoholic beverages for the adults. Prices are not bad

Awful since Bowlero chain took over. The hours are ridiculous and the place is very loud. I decided to go elsewhere and I won't be back. If you're looking to host a child's birthday party you'll probably be very happy with your experience. That's what this place is for now. I miss Colony Lanes and the family ownership.

First time me and my friends went there .. typical weekend crowd but the manager was attentive and made sure we were good

I went the other day with a friend and played 4 games, but they charged us for 8 because "its 4 games each person". I have never had a person do that before. But maybe the past 25 years of cashiers were cool and gave me a discount all the sudden? Idk felt like I got ripped of. I have never spend almost 80 dollars on bowling before for 4 games.

Had a good time. But $75 for 3 people with no drinks or food on a Thursday with no prices posted is a bit high ... . We were charged for 9 games. When we only played 3. Only there for an hour and a half. When I questioned the price or where the rates were listed at, he just said that's what it is . I paid it. But likely won't return. We went two months ago at same time and it was less than $40.

It looks bigger on the inside! Pins reset quickly, new arcade games, interesting way on how they do the reserve in the beginning, pay at the end kind of system but it's good!! I only say 4 stars because there's alot of oil on the lanes, other than that it's a very nice place!

Do NOT sign up for a league here. We signed up for a league, got confirmation. Showed up the start date and it was "canceled due to the holiday" (on the weekend before). Odd because they knew the holiday when they scheduled the league. Never recieved any notice. Called and showed up the next week, and "it is canceled" again. Staff have no clue what is going on. One will say whole league is canceled, the next will say just this week. There is no manager and no contact for the league. Very unresponsive and

So you tend to wait for everything. Over all you will enjoy. More expensive than others. I had a great time. Great place for the whole family. Only one problem the 2 young ladies did everything. Cook, waitress, check in and check out.

Horrible service no warning was given to us that all games are cut off at 12. They cut us off mid game and offered no compensation. Waited over an hour for drinks. After recieving our drinks we waited another 20 minutes for an oreo milkshake. Wasted majority of our time waiting for drinks and food. I suggested making a sign saying that games regardless of when being started will be charged to the party even if not finished. The manager said that telling over 100 customers a day that games will be cut off at

Spend your money elsewhere. The price is pathetic, close to $50 per person for 2 hours. Elsewhere you'll easily pay between $10-$20 per person.

Love coming here!! The staff is always friendly and we always have a great time.

On a Friday night, we arrived around 8:30ish, and were told there wouldn't be any lanes available until 11pm. When we came back at 11, we were told they were closing early. Most likely won't be wasting my time like that again.

It's a fun place to bowl. I bowl on a league there and every week the oil pattern is different, it's very difficult to find a consistent shot that works. I wish the oil pattern was semi normal. I also wish that during league nights the arcade would be shut down so that the Loud games aren't so distracting.

You may want to call ahead to make sure they have open lanes. We were unable to bowl tonight due to there being leagues however staff was very friendly. The place was clean and even had an arcade for the kids to play. We had a great time! Will definitely be back.

First time bowling there and the staff isn't that friendly and I don't care to be bowling wedged in between other lanes. I've been to other Allys and you have more space. Also the games in the Arcade are more for winning tickets which is something they don't even do. The pricing was fair though

Was here with my son for his friends birthday. I was surprised and impressed at house it was inside, everything electronic, big screens with tv across the end of the alley. Arcade was good to, kids really enjoyed it

We had a great time. We went on a Saturday afternoon. It was clean, well staffed. Will definitely go again.

POOR SERVICE! Visited here last week with my friends. As we approached the counter, they woman at the front desk insisted that we pay with credit cards. All of us being teenagers had cash, and we stood there blank faced. Eventually we were allowed to pay cash 16.50 for two games and shoes. My friend was greeted with rudeness after being questioned on his size 17 foot, which he had politely asked bowling shoes for. After the paying incident we had a fun two games. The food was sub-par but not terrible. Halfw

Absolute rip off over 106.00$ for 2 people to play 4 games. I had a milk shake and bread sticks, my friend had a drink and a hamburger. They ask for your card then charge it when your done. They charge each person per game so I got charged and she got charged even though your only using one lane. So even though we played 4 games they charge you for 8. I will NEVER go to this place ever again.

We have been bowling here since Covid hit. It is an incredibly fun family place. Between the bowling, the pro shop, the leagues, the gaming center...our family loves it. We usually play three games of bowling and then play Mario Kart for hours!

We had a family Groupon, 2 hours of bowling for 4 people, shoes included. Overall, it was a good time, and the kids had fun. But, my rating comes down to equipment management and people. People: Front desk was friendly and helpful. Food was an issue. Prices for food seem very high, we paid $32 for a flatbread (which is far smaller than a pizza), order of tenders, bag of popcorn and two sodas. Took 30 minutes from ordering to get our food. It wasn't busy, took far too long in my opinion. Went back later for

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Why are arcade prize games so exciting to play?

Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
