Reviews Summary

The consensus from reviews is mixed, with ratings ranging from 1 to 5 stars. Positive feedback highlights fun atmosphere, clean lanes, and friendly staff, especially for events or group outings. Many enjoy the arcade and bowling options, though some find pricing high. Negative points focus on poor service, slow food/drink delivery, and understaffing, leading to frustration. Several mention overpriced items and limited food/drink choices. While some patrons had great experiences and plan to return, others left disappointed due to mismanagement or unmet expectations. Customer Reviews

Just had my son?s 12th birthday there. The boys all had so much fun! We ordered the birthday package and the food was actually very good and they keep refilling the food tray! Although it seemed very busy but Ivy our server (and all other servers I asked) did a great job to satisfy all our needs.

i come here often, the girl helps me get the lane, she serves very well. the space is nice and spacious, everything is good, they often have promotions, and just 1 thing i wish they could change the music to be more exciting like EDM. because like i said i come many times and the songs are the same but it's not exciting enough. anyway i love this place.

Terribly oiled lanes, WAY too overpriced if you're coming with more than 2 people. It's $12.99/PERSON/LANE. If you play 3 games with 3 people it's 12.99 * 9 = $117. There are other alleys I've been to in the city that are $30/lane, ANY amount of people. Also, the lane was one of the most uneven I've played on. The left side was devoid of oil and the right half was covered, making curving extremely inconsistent. Not coming back.

The lanes and balls are solid. The automated pins and bumpers are pretty fool-proof and only failed once in 2 hours. The place was mostly clean and not too busy on a weekday afternoon in the Sunmer. The shoes were very beat up but fine. We didnt get food or drinks as theyre overpriced. A huge downside is that it is extremely loud, and the video screens are insanely distracting. Overall, it's very fun bowling but it could be better, especially for people sensitive to loud sounds and flashing lights/screens.

Had our twins' birthday party here. The food was very slow to arrive and the staff was very slow to refill the kids' food. We had to ask several times to get pizza and fries that we paid for as part of the birthday party package. Wasn't fun to answer 20 kids who kept coming around asking for pizza and fries.

I recently visited Bowlero on Thornwood Dr. with my partner, our kids, and our niece on a busy Saturday night. While some aspects of our experience were positive, the waiter service was extremely disappointing, especially considering how much we paid. The evening started off well?the gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and even gave us a game card with 10 credits for the kids to play while we waited for a lane, which was a nice gesture. We only waited about 10 minutes before starting our three-gam

Bowling is ok, but service is terrible, I don't think they have enough staff. Basically waited forever for our order that never came, When I finally asked to get it to go because kids were done, they came back saying they just put the pizza in... I just had it cancelled altogether. Then trying to leave, no one was there for checkout out, waited a bit and basically left. So yeah, if you go just for bowling, might be ok, but don't expect to make it an outing or something. BTW, this was the second chance we we

I hosted my daughter's birthday here and it went off without a hitch at a med-low average price per kid compared to other venues. Our servers were attentive, the cookie cake, pizza, fries and chicken strips were well liked, and the fruit plate was a hit. Nachos are also pretty good. We did 2hrs (which is about 2 rounds with 5-6 on a lane) plus 10 credit arcade cards per kid. Bumpers were easy to put up, and you could order from your lane. We went around lunchtime. If you are looking for a fun activity wi

We had a really wonderful time celebrating our son?s birthday at Bowlero San Jose today. The staff was really helpful. I was able to use Groupons that I bought earlier this week on 3 lanes. We got there in the afternoon and there were plenty of lanes available. Our server Angelina was really nice and attentive. Thank you for making our experience so seamless and fun! We had a great time and we will definitely be back!

Had a great time bowling Saturday. A bit of a wait but not bad. Lanes are in pretty good shape. Approach to lane was pretty dirty. Server was on point this time bringing our food order fast. French fries and bread sticks were great and hot. We go alot and enjoy every visit. Our grandson celebrated his 8th Birthday not too long ago. Everybody had a great time.

They open and close late. It looks a lot different than it did before, when I was in a league. The staff were much friendlier then, which you won't expect from the younger generation. Everything is overpriced and virtual bowling is a better option if you prefer that type of atmosphere and experience, rather than wasting your time and money here. If you receive an invitation to go here or for a party, there are more interesting places to visit instead, such as the mall across the street. When you drive by th

My family got the summer pass. It's totally worth it. A few down sides: you can not bring your own water canister, and they offer you tap in a plastic cup. You can not bring healthy snacks for kids, and they offer only junky/greasy food items on the menu.

We celebrated our friend's birthday here. This is a great place to hang out with family and friends. Lots of parking space. The food is good. Music is awesome. The service was fast and superb! The sales representative, Stephanie, helped us through the reservation process. She was patient and took care of a payment issue over the phone. Our host that night is Felipe. He was enthusiastic and helpful. Will definitely come back and recommend this place to others.

Too much hype. We had and okay time but they will not let us combine our point cards. What a stupid policy. Will never go back. So much money for not enough fun. Just skip.

Good parking, lot of lanes. Clean places. However, it is expensive. One lane for 3 people costs 50$. So, 50$ for 20 minutes is not for everyone. Another thing that bothered me was that there were a lot of lanes not used and we were stuck next to other folks. We asked to be moved, they refused. That is directly at COVID time. We played and these lanes never got used. There is not small bowls for kids but an automatic bumbers that raises when it is a child turn, so that is good.

I usually go on Fridays or Mondays when there is unlimited bowling. I get there about 20-30 minutes before it starts in order to not have to wait longer. The food usually doesn't take long but I've ordered drinks from the bar at the lane that sometimes takes up to 30 minutes to be delivered. If you want drinks you're better off getting them yourself. Everything else here is awesome though.

I truly cannot say thank you enough to all of the staff that worked with Singh (the night of 1/18/25)!!! Singh-You good sir, are a rockstar!! And I am truly grateful that you helped me & my son to have an amazing night for his 18th birthday ?? ???????? (& kudos to the event scheduler Nicole as well??) Thank you all so much && I look forward to my family, and I are coming back very soon - I highly recommend this bowling alley ? it's very clean and very fun! ?? ?? ??

Only came here for drinks at the bar. It was my first time here. It was decently busy at the lanes but the bar area was pretty empty. The service was fast and the bartender was kind. The beers were a good size too which is always an added bonus. Everyone seemed to be having a good time bowling. I plan to come back and actually bowl next time. Only gave 4 stars bcuz I only went to the bar and their beer selection was limited. Will be back soon.

I had a great time but my only issue with the wait time was that there were a lot of lanes that were not being used yet I still had to wait an hour. I think there should be at least a rough estimate of how long the average weight would be when you give them your phone number. The staff were very polite and even though it was a very busy Saturday night they were attentive. Also I think that the sodas were a little overpriced. I ordered a diet Coke and it was $4.50

Overpriced. Not efficient payment system. Reserved a lane online. Awesome. Bought a drink. Had to pay separately and have details entered manually? which took too much time. And then to add a tip had to go thru another system. I felt bad ? didn't have time to go thru this step

It was one of the best bowling in San Jose. It's much better than Round One. Clean, many lanes, plus, they offer season passes

Simple facts Do not bring your own equipment as the ball return will destroy your ball. The lanes are very oily. Over priced Food and drink orders were constantly an issue. The lanes are very darkly lit making aiming very difficult. Summary. 20 games, 3 shoe rentals, 3 pitchers of beer and two milkshakes cost over $325. Ouch. Way too expensive especially since it destroyed my new ball. See the before and after pictures

Review Update* - Bowlero deserves credit for not only suggesting I reach out to guest services to share my concerns, but meaningfully helping resolve those concerns how they could (after the fact). As a result, this location warrants an improved rating (3 to 4 stars). --- Going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume we went on an off night. They were stretched way too thin on staff; felt like a self service free for all. I ran back and forth so much to get forks, cups, plates, etc, that other p

Great place to bowl at! Nice dark atmosphere and good music selection. Seems a little pricey, unless you wait until 9pm for unlimited bowling. I am not blaming this place, but I haven't used my CC anywhere else outside my normal routine and I don't buy gas anymore. But in the early AM after visiting, I got an alert from chase saying my card was trying to be used on a website at 3am. I'm just posting this in case it's a reoccurring issue people have after visiting this location. Update, they commented on m

Got the summer pass and Fall pass so been getting my worth. It was great fun and the food is actually good. It comes out hot and all shareable. We will order the Tower of Power (Beer) and the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and sampler. The staff is great, they took care of us, even when the my friends balls was damaged the manager stepped in and took care of it.

Awful service - we waited more than 40 minutes for just one milkshake we ordered for our kid. Gave up and left even though we paid for it.

Pricey and bad food/bar service. Why have it if it's not reliable, when it gets busy you abandon it and not convenient. It's just a huge waste of space during the day. Asked manager if it was open, he said yes but they are busy and ended up sitting there for 30 minutes.

The place was clean and very spacious. We enjoyed some appetizers and drinks while we played bowling. We prefer to go mid-week to avoid crowds. Restrooms were in great shape. Some arcade games need maintenance or repair. Plenty of parking.

Bowlero provides a great bowling experience with its well-maintained lanes, fun atmosphere, and delicious food and drinks. It's a fantastic spot for a fun night out with friends or family.

Had a work function in the VIP room. Had a blast. They were not officially open so we had the place to ourselves.

This is a very cool bowling alley. It has a nice arcade with lots of games. On many days there are discounts on the arcade and bowling. Lots of great food as well! I recommend the cheesy dippers appetizer. Great place for a birthday party too!

Came to bowl in San Jose for the first time and it was much better then the other bowling alleys around the area? food was amazing but that heartthrob margarita was the hit

Apr 17 UPDATE: There continues to be radio silence from management. Their lack of effort is very telling. Jan 25 UPDATE: The dispute has since been resolved in my favor by my credit card company. Still there has been ZERO communication by Bowlero management to contact me. Paid for a children's birthday party, which should have had unlimited children's food, consisting of mediocre cheese pizza and chicken tenders. They did not honor replenishing this food. After getting no satisfaction nor response from th

Really fun environment. Especially during New Year's 2019 party. Staff was fast, fun and friendly. Bowling and video games were a blast, especially the big crane game. Won a big fluffy bear. Definitely recommend this place to everyone!????????????

My teenage son (15) wanted to take his friends bowling. They allow 6 per lane, but I don't think thats a hard rule - I saw a family of 7 in the next lane. I was there to book a lane + shoes, and they kept my card on file - please see prices in the attached picture. It was a weekday, and there were quite a few lanes that were available. Overall quite a nice ambience - I dropped them off, and picked them once they are done. They played 3 games, and for 6 players, it came under $200. Kids ordered food by thems

Superb! My wife and I hosted one of two post-Covid wedding "after parties" here in their VIP room (think wedding reception + dinner). We chose this location as it was near our west coast family and appeared to have everything needed to have a great time. We threw a wrench in the mix by requesting a buffet of vegan food for dinner. They worked with us to tweak the menu so our meat-loving loved ones were also satisfied with the meal (they couldn't believe the food lacked carnage). The way they decorated the V

They misspelled word ?suck?. While bowling is fun and shoes are decent, it took them 30 minutes to bring first drinks, 40 minutes to bring food. When we asked for the refund for drinks we never got, because we waited for them for a long time, they got surprised and we had to wait like 10 minutes more to get it. It should not take 40 minutes to bring soda. Seriously.

Very bad service, we had to wait 30 min for drinks and when we complained they said talk to the manager for a discount. At checkout we had to wait for 15 min for manager and then they couldn't even say when manager would be available, so we ended up paying full price?never coming back here

The check in line on 11/11 was over an hour for a game, there were only two employees visible in the entire establishment. For a school holiday with several parties + walk in groups this is absolutely ridiculous. Our group left the line without even bowling as the wait was too long.

First of all let me start by saying it was a good experience with good food and the place was clean. I also got a good deal for two hours. But their employees were not kind and were rude. We had a little toddler who fell on the lane by accident. Then they threatened to kick us out and two employees were watching us during our whole experience. I was not comfortable the whole time.

Was pretty good but the service time to get drinks/food could use some improvement. We ordered our drinks and it took over half an hour to get an AMF. Otherwise, it was a pleasant experience!

Slow service, automatic gratuity for parties of 4 I guess? did not see that posted anywhere? poorly mixed cocktails, good food, but it's unhealthy. That part didn't bother us. As far as the bowling waiting times also poor. We put our name on the list said an hour and half, no big deal. Went to check & there was one party ahead of us. We decided to sit at the bar and wait there. Due to poor cell reception we never got the notification our lanes were ready even though we had asked twice about our name. Needl

Not much wait but there is an option to book online which is great! They have arcade as well. They have a lot of lanes.

1. lane kept breaking down 2. boyfriend approached the bar 3 separate times and was ignored by bartender each time 3. another friend approached bar to close out their tab and was also ignored 4. drinks had maybe a half shot of alcohol and just tasted like a $14 juice 5. my boyfriend?s glass had lipstick on it. i don't wear lipstick

I had my kids' birthday party. I purchased some Costco gift cards to use on the party bill. They didn't allow more than 2 gift cards on my bill. The staff was somewhat friendly. The food was pretty good and was kept warm. They should let you know that gift cards are not accepted at parties.

Loved the place, very lively. Our group went in after 11, and the service was not that great. The drinks we ordered didn't come onto the table for long time and also they were under staffed. Apart from that overall it was great experience.

The renovations really improved the vibe of the place. The drinks were good and the arcade was small but had a good variety of games. The pool tables are located in the VIP room. Staff were friendly and wearing masks.

Overpriced! 27$ for small Margaritha drink. I was wondering why the bar was empty. Anyway place not to bad for kids but waaaay overpriced. They make Wholefoods feel like Costco.

My family and I always have a good time here. Highly recommend going with the family, or some friends. Guaranteed to have a good time! Can't help trying to get a higher score on punching bag arcade, lol!

I will not be returning ever to this place. Stay away from this place and try out other Bowlero locations. They pretty much understaffed, don't know how to engage with customers and don't take accountability. They are also not really kids friendly, the bowling session went ok but their arcade machine was broken and they asked us to wait next to the arcade counter for like 20-25 minutes mentioning someone will help out. After patiently waiting for a long time, they finally mentioned yeah no one is coming, ge

Old and dirty. The lane got stuck at least two times per game. Had to manually enter score at times. Kitchen is down so food menu is limited to what they can microwave. Drinks took 30 minutes and then we find out they are out of Dr Pepper. Will not return.

Jamie, you are extraordinary. Every single person working here. Gave such warmth & service like I never felt! Wow just wow. Thank you! We will be back !

Good, fun outing with the wife, plenty to do there, but everything is pricey from bowling to the lane-delivered fried food. I would eat before coming to save some coin and eat a little healthier. *STRIKE

Went here on a Tuesday night when it's $2.22 plus the price of shoes to bowl. I am very bad at bowling but my daughter wanted to go and we all ended up having a great time. There are plenty of lanes and most of the bowling balls are at the lanes but it's no big deal to ask if ppl are using them. I haven't been during a busy time so not sure if everyone is as friendly then.

Great experience, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and always willing to help out!! Rob, Chase, Nicole, Lisa, and Singh are always super friendly with us and their amazing customer service always makes me want to come back!

If you want to wait for 4 hours with other people being let before you when they came later, this is the place for you.

I was there to celebrate my son's birthday party. as a drop in... I didn't make reservations prior being that it was on a Sunday I was planning to come in as first come first serve. It was a bit difficult having to explain to workers on several different times that I was setting up. I was told by a different workers that reservations we need to be made in order to use a lane. Despite there being several other lanes I continue to put up a few of my decorations for birthday party. Finally I made reservations

If you like a bowling alley in what feels like a lounge/bar environment this is the place. Loud music dark lights bowling food alcohol arcades area nice employees great service! The person that served us at our lane she was amazing, very pleasant, and very patient with a bunch of people who are yelling at each other and not noticing her. Even though I was blind I still had a good time bowling and I didn't get the worst score in our team. Fun place if you want to go have a good time. However if you want a bo

This place has thought of everything. If you want to add a bowler at anytime you can do that. You want bumpers for one person in a group bowling in the same lane that's an option too. We were at a friends birthday party with a 1 year old, 2 year old, and 3 year old. Every kid got a chance to bowl with the awesome bowling ramp for kids who aren't strong enough to lift and throw a ball.

Had a great time bowling. Friendly staff. Clean. Didn't break the bank!

The bowling lanes and arcade area are pretty eye catching and clean. The food is not great, the cocktails are too sweet, and the service is subpar. Try to order using the QR code, the kiosk, or a waiter and you will have to ask multiple times when food or drinks will come. Often you will see people going straight to the bar for soda, water, and liquor and to order food. Ive been multiple times this year and last and the service just sucks. Will not return.

I found it to be an excellent place to release stress, affordable prices, many bowling alleys, good food, atmosphere, plenty of parking, very friendly staff. I really enjoyed my time there.

Dim, loud environment to bowl while watching advertisements all around you. The floor was disgusting!! I imagine they lightly mop once a week, and never under any furniture. Seats are mostly uncomfortable and some have very little padding. Staff is mostly nice and helpful. Unfortunately they don't allow water bottles EVEN FOR BABIES ?? The staff came to tell us that we can't have a baby bottle for our baby ?? Bowling experience was ok. Balls are old and chipping and machines are slow. Fine for fun with fri

They charge 18% mandatory service fee (Tip) on your food and beverages. This credit goes towards the staff, not the company itself. Then they request a gratuity on top on separate receipt. Food menu is not that great either. Atmosphere is pretty nice, nice entertainment, but a bit pricy so watch out.

Decent bar food and drinks. Good amount of space. Wish could waitlist online so can come later for check in. Also good amount of arcade games.

Absolutely loved this place. We had a party there for our 17 year old. Felt it was a bit costly but after we experienced it, it was well worth the coin. Food for the party was delicious and plentiful. Deep fried tenders and fries were fresh and didn't taste like they were cooked in old oil. Half salad was healthy dark leafy greens with carrots and tomato perfect. They were not stingy on the catering. The lanes and booths were spotless. Staff attentive, manager (forgot his name??) was on the ball and had thi

A great place to come bowling? Jamie and his team are amazing I will definitely be coming back?

This place was so much fun and the prices are decent. The best time to go is when there is a sale ordeal going on. I would highly suggest coming to check out this place if you're looking for something fun to do in the area!

I was like a big kid. I attended a company event and it was so much fun. The bartender was fast, efficient and made a great whiskey sour. I wish I could remember her name.

This a great place if your not a serious bowler... for parties and people who've never bowled or bowl occasionally, it's prefect! It's very "social" friendly; easy to snack on your food (or drinks) while enjoying other's company. The only reason is not a 5 star rating... the lanes are never really cleaned. This makes them very sticky and very slide resistant. Which is ironic, since if you bring your own bowling shoes, they check them to make sure they're real bowling shoes. My advice is to rent shoes there

I brought my kids here the other night and had a great experience! Amazing service, great food and drinks. One person that stood out was ransom, he kept checking in to make sure everything was going well. Will definitely come back!!

Kinda pricey, order from QR codes. Should you have to tip?

Used the 2 hr groupon special for 2 people. Had a lot of fun. Lanes are in good condition. Shoes are fine. We plan on coming back again.

Didn't know bowling was so popular. This place was Poppin last night. The workers were so nice. I can't remember the name of the woman who helped us, but she was super helpful and nice. Talia or something like that (apologies for not remembering). It was 5pm on Saturday and she was at the front. They were super crowded and there were lots of people at the desk and she was super cool. At times like that workers can get overwhelmed and rude, but they weren't lots of props to them.

Lanes are in good shape, rental shoes are good, and there are plenty of balls to go around. The food is decent as well. What we didn't like were loud drunk guys with their water cooler full of beer two lanes over, and the fact that at 9:00 they crank the music so loud that my wife, daughter, and I have to scream to hear each other. Don't think we'll be back.

Large venue, very clean and great for groups. Prices are a bit higher than other local bowling places. Also FYI, this place uses string pins instead of free-falling pins. I looked it up and sure enough, effective August 1, 2023 the USBC Certified String Pin Bowling as competition grade bowling. So for all you high level bowlers this place is now certified legit ??

So many lanes! Friendly and accommodating staff. They have food, drinks and music playing. There's also an arcade. I had a blast! Will be going back.

I've been waiting for more than a hour waiting for a bowling spot. According to the front personal, they are reserved. But I haven't seen nobody at any reserved ones... this is fishy... I feel they are doing this hold up so we keep waiting and keep buying beer and other things, so they can nake $$$... this is ridiculous. It's not even busy. And yes I took pictures and doing a timer.

It was a great place to celebrate birthdays. The pizza, and drinks were good. Although the tenders and fries are also good I wouldn't recommend tenders. The bowling and arcade was really fun too!

Went to my niece's 9th birthday party here. We all had a blast. There were about 7 other birthday parties going on at the same time so this place must be very popular. The kids had a great time bowling then after we hit the arcade. My daughter won an elephant from the claw machine. Highlight of her day. This is a great place definitely coming back.

Perfectly fine place to bring the kids. But they should really make you aware that they have Fake Lanes with pins on strings at least before they let you pay for a bunch of games that they will not refund. Again probably a fun place to hang out, just not if you actually bowl

I had a great time until I saw the manager (mike) chew out one of his employees in front if the customers. Not only was int unprofessional but it made me feel very very bad for the employees who have to work under him. I definitely won't ever be returning.. my wife and I were both appalled to say the least

Did the night bowling with family to have some fun. Bowled and played some video games and ate food. Got my receipt they add a service fee after I spent over 200 dollars. I like to tip on service I don't like them adding a service fee.Wish they told me ahead of time . Guess no matter what service they give you good or not you get a service fee. Might be last time I come here.

Good place to relax and have fun, Nice people work there ??

Your business hours suck! Really you don't open until 4pm? Normal bowling alleys open at 9am.....but that's right you aren't a normal bowling alley. When do you have regular bowling? What hours? No music, no lights out, no videos...just bowling! Sorry, but I won't even attempt to go back.....bring back Oakridge lanes!

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Kudos to Liz and Daryl who made every visit here pleasant. As an MVB member, I've been bowling here almost every Wednesday night during their unlimited bowling specials. However, during my visit tonight, 9/6/23, I was sad to hear that they've discontinued their unlimited bowl. They still have specials, but the pricing is nothing compared to their previous unlimited bowl. I probably won't be a regular here any longer until the unlimited bowl is back. Until next time

Why the two managers Lana and Singh became so aggressive when they made a mistake on there behalf and made us pay for it.. we were having a good time bowling until they came up to us complaining about a mistake they made making it seem like it was our fault and ruined our night of ? unlimited bowling? and only played 2 games. Customer service 0 if I really could eliminate that start..

We had an event at the Bowlero, it was a graduation party for about 25 people! And for the price it was a great deal! Everything was clean! And when our food ran out, it was refilled quickly! I wish I could remember the people that helped us that day, because they were fantastic! If you are needing a place to do a kids birthday, a graduation party, or an adults only party, I recommend them!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
