The worst food I have ever seen even at a bowling place: garlic fries were swimming in oil, pizza and other fried stuff took almost an hour to come out, but I can't really blame the staff - it seems like there was only one person working in the kitchen cooking, taking orders and doing everything else. It is also scorching hot in the playing area.
If want good bowling, this is the place to be. The alley is so nice: a small class of bowling students frequents the establishment. Friendly staff. Well-maintained equipment. On certain days/nights you can do 'all-you-can-bowl'. The 'party lights' are often on in only a portion of the alley. The music is not too loud; staff seems to set the music to cater to the majority of those bowling. Now that Bowlero owns Bowl America, the menu is limited - no fish, no lettuce, no tomato, no salad. The Flatbrea
First, I was told that unless there is reservation, we cannot take up more than 2-3? lanes (12 people max)? We were a party of 18. This is after I showed my groupon discounted vouchers. Second, I was told that my son's license, because it was vertically aligned, means that he cannot drink alcohol even though the ID clearly shows that he is way past 21. Third, I was not able to order both alcohol and lemonade because I don''t have reservation? Maybe I misunderstood something and I am sure the staff is fol
Coming from Falls Church Bowlero there is no comparison. Fairfax is much cleaner, the approaches are much better and they put out a good shot. I am very happy. Also all of the equipment works!
I really don't understand why the reviews are as low as they are. You just have to go at the right time so that it's not expensive and crowded. We went on a Thursday night and got unlimited bowling ?? with shoes ?? included for like $16 per person. We ended up playing like 10 games. It was so worth it.
Guest service here just sucks, especially the food. It takes FOREVER to get your food and the salespeople have THE worst attitudes towards you and always seem angry. This needs to be fixed!
Overall, my husband and I had fun. Our lane had a technical issue that they had to fix. We sat there about 10 minutes waiting for a go ahead, but the lady went a back way to go to the front desk. I wish she had let us know we could resume instead of us going to find her to make sure it was safe to continue. My husband went and we had the same issue again. We then had to requeste a new lane.
Bowling is always a family fun but, can be annoying if the system doesnt work properly. The place is old with likely no upgrades in multiple decades. The screens and the interactive board inputs had the 80s/ 90s feel. The lanea given to us froze after 10 minutes. And wont reset by the attendents efforts, then they moved us to other lanes. Whicg had a scoring issue which the attndents coundt explain and had to reset again. Howevwr they didnt reset the times appropriately. And the stop and go messed up the mo
This place is very much outdated, tv screens display only 4 count, no animation, even adding name feel like working on ancient computers, but the lanes are good we had fun time with friends, we used Groupon voucher it good for the price, but it has day and time restrictions please check conditions.
Big fun! Purchased through Groupon. 2 hours plus shoe rental for 2 people $23. Staff was pleasant and got us checked in fast. The location is clean and has a great atmosphere. Will go again.
Went for my daughter's class trip. The staff was not use to small children, but the overall experience was good.
Great time and no one here this morning! Check out the prices on food to include the team platters. Only $3.95 a game duing the week until 6pm and then it goes up 3 bucks. So get the kids here early to take advantage of the open lanes!
I grew up coming here when I was a kid just like my daughter has since she was born in 2018! Place is full of memories, actually good food, and fun for anyone who loves to bowl! I love the place!
Very shady about pricing. Asked upfront if you pay per hour and they said yes. You actually pay per game per person and not per lane per hour like most places. The price per game per person is not on their sheet of prices. Everything worked but it is pretty dated.
Everything is ancient, and our score machine kept glitching and reseting on us. It could be turned in to kind of a fun retro bowling ally, but the systems in place need to be functional, and things need to be cleaned up a bit. Overall the vibes were just off. Shockingly overpriced as well.
The service here is bad and honestly just weird. My friends booked a party for 5 people and it was way overpriced and very strict on timing. The website said 2 hours but we were only given 90 minutes. When we asked to extend they said it would be $30 for 30 more minutes. We didn't even finish 2 games and paid a lot. The staff came over while we were singing happy birthday to talk to us about paying? it was pretty careless and rude. Then we were told we won a bowling pin that said happy birthday, but in real
Fun place to bowl but awful service and management. Came here on my buddies birthday and they cut us off after two pitchers between 5 people for no reason. The bartender is was particularly rude about it as well. Had two beers and was cut off for absolutely no reason whatsoever. If you wanna have a good time I would recommend going to the million other bowlero owned alleys around nova. Would not return under any circumstances.
Has always been a good bowling alley.
$9 a hame and $6 for shoes. A family of 5 to bowl two games cost over $125. For elite bowling alleys this would be high and this place doesn't even have water fountains that work.
Great place to have a kids birthday party. The crew was very patient as we hosted 18 kids 5 and under.
Reasonable rates, clean alley and good fun for families.
Always have a fun time here, ever since I can remember. Food is actually decent for a bowling alley as well. Definitely a good place to take your mind off things with a friend or two, or even alone.
Went here for our 7 yo, friends birthday party. There were 2 other kids birthday parties there and the staff was kind, patient and willing to help everyone as quickly as possible. The staff at the snack bar was so nice and quick with all the food orders too. Really great local spot and will be back especially during these cold winter months.
Went to this Bowl America and it was fun we went on a Friday night and we ordered food but it came out kinda late and we had bowled for 2 rounds already. The shoes there are rent but you can bring your own shoes. The night was pretty solid but definitely could have gotten better service
This was our first time here. Great staff. We had parked in the back, not aware of the parking in front of the building. Destani was very nice and walk with and unlocked the back door for us. My nephew had a blast and bowled his best game. The lanes are well taken care of. We will be back.
The oldest bowling alley I've seen in the last decade - which would be fine, except it's about as clean as a gas station bathroom.
Have been to this location and falls church one many times over last decade. Brought my daughter here and we were the only people in the entire building. Staff tried to scam us into some unlimited play thing and insisted we used their shoes, despite having our own. Manager was NASTY and didn't care my daughter cried. Gave me a refund with a snear and not a word. Never again and will let all area families we know to avoid this business. Doesn't look like they will be around much longer anyway.
We paid for all you can bowl on Friday night. The service of the manager was terrible. I called to get service on the bowling pins and she told me not to call. How else are we supposed to get the pins fixed. The intercom is terrible. Basically, Bowl America Fairfax or Bowlero robbed us out of our money, time and fun.
Friendly people, good lane conditions, good lane equipment. I have not seen a mechanical lane problem in 1/2 year! (that is VERY good). The flatbread pizza is very good. Yes, the scoring display is old. However, it accurately records everything!
Its pretty dated, lol, and I suck at bowling but it was a fun first experience for my daughter. She was very excited.
Staff is a joke, lazy and have no clue of what customer service is. If you like getting eyes rolled at you and a -sigh- to follow this is the place. Seen better customer service at a McDonald's. Take out the disrespectful staff from the equation and bowling is not that bad. I wanted to give this place a try regardless of the low reviews and regret it. I would highly recommend "Bowlero Annandale". Longer travel, but staff is more friendly there.
They had a dark side of lanes durning the day
The place was a mess. The women's restroom only had one stall with toilet paper. All the soap dispenser were out. Then when we went to pay, they said the system was down. We told them we had to leave to pick up our kids and it magically worked. There were dirty dishes everywhere. My opinion is it's over priced for the filthy environment.
It's a hidden lanes that one should try to go to. They go out of their way to make sure you are having a good time.
Decent place for bowling. The food and beer were alright. I'd suggest getting unlimited games option. The screens and the systems are pretty old but tbh, i kinda like it, gives it a retro look.
Bad experience at this bowling alley. Our group of 6 requested 2 lanes, which they begrudgingly gave us, but went out of their way to space them far apart. (soon after we started they placed another bowler in the open lane next to us). When the lane on the other side opened up, we asked to move lanes. The cashier was very rude, but eventually moved us. To top it off, the drinking fountain was out of order, but when we asked for a cup of water they instead tried to force us buy bottled water instead.
Updating below a bit post COVID, I suspect the business is struggling a bit but I love having this option still. Food orders can be slow at times and staff can get a little stressed, but my family and I still have fun here. Great bad weather option. It's an old divey alley, so be clear on that expectation, but the staff is usually very friendly. It's not annoyingly overcrowded all the time. They do a good job with reasonably priced kid birthday parties, and their summer blast pass deal is awesome. Kids ge
Very disappointed with this location. It used to be Bowl America, but it's now $53 if you want to rent a bowling lane for about 2 hours. They blast the music so loud that you can't focus. It can also be quite overwhelming.
Nice bowling center. Has not had air condition all year. Humidity in center makes lanes sticky.
Kids had a great time with bumpers and the ramp. In fact adults have a better time with those two options also.
Great, had a great time. Especially joined a league several of times before ??, met allot of new friends and people. I really wanted to thank 1 of my friends who I use to work with invited me to join a league with all of them. Thanks.
My friends and I had a great experience here. The staff was friendly and helpful (shout out to Nick). Not gonna lie, we had a couple lane problems but Nick was always nearby to help. He also told us about the student discount which is helpful for us college kids trying to save money (me irl). Prices are good. Friday night, which is when we went was all night bowing for 15 a person which is not bad. Overall I would say that my friends and I had a blast and would definitely come back soon.
Went there today with the family. After the game the lady at the counter did a check out and swiped my credit card for 6PM to 9 PM rate and as she gave me the credit card receipt to sign I noticed the price was not right and brought this to her attention that we started the game before 5:30 PM and without checking the system she said no we didn't start at 5:30 but after 6 PM. As I stood my ground about the time, she called a gentlemen to check the system and realised that we did start before 5:30 PM. They
Large bowling alley in Fairfax. Decent prices for bowling. Special pricing on weekends after 10:30 PM. The place has a small arcade and a little eatery. Food is burgers, pizza, fries, hot dogs, etc. They also serve beer for the adults. The restrooms were clean. Overall, we had a nice time.
Worst experience ever. The management do not care or cannot seem to understand the problem. The bowling scoreboard did not match with the pin cycles and we complained once. They told us it was fixed but it continued to malfunction. We finished the game and we looked for compensation at their overpriced total. Their feeble excuse was that we had not COMPLAINED ENOUGH. Also there was an older gentlemen just watching three boys play without a break in his glance. Really awkward. TL;DR don't go here.
We showed up for a birthday party, that had been paid for, and confirmed; we had receipts. The family showed up early to get set up and the woman would not let them in. She said she had no record of the booking and instead of even an apology for the mix up or offering to phone a manager to work it out, she phoned 911. I do not think it was accidental this family are Ethiopian, that she escalated the situation so quickly and called the cops on them. This company is racist and I will Never take my kids to thi
Fun place to go with the family. The games aren't too expensive and everyone has a good time. The food isn't something to get excited about but it's there. Call ahead first to see if there are tournaments or league nights happening because you might get stuck waiting for a lane to open up. Brings me back to when I used to go bowling as a kid...because not much has changed.
When I was younger, I came here for the fun birthday parties. Now, with my friends, I came back here thanks to the central location. Unfortunately I am no longer a patron of this location--save yourself some hassle and frustration and go to Burke, if you are further south (wonderful management) or Falls Church if you are further north (great facility). The facility is mediocre and although there are 48 lanes, they don't seem to want to use more than maybe 10 at a time. We waited for an hour at the request
Just finished bowling here w my lovely sister. Everyone was so helpful and fun! Great experience. I finally beat my sister at bowling after 45 years! :) good day!
Horrible customer service. If I could give negative stars, I would. Absolutely nothing great about this place or experience. I booked a corporate event to celebrate the holiday and encourage team bonding. I had 35 staff members pumped and excited for the bowling fun and competition. Sadly, our party and event was ruined by the unprofessional and awful manager on duty, an old male claiming to be the highest level of management available. We paid over $1000.00 for 1 game of bowling, 7 pizzas, and petite
Bowl America Fairfax brings back memories of suburban group outings, birthday parties, and high school date nights. This Bowl America looks a bit ghetto from the outside, located in the backside of a Korean grocery store (Lotte) and some other Korean shops. The inside looks like it hasn't been renovated since the late '70s and gives off a retro feel. Prices are fairly cheap compared to other bowling alleys though. My boyfriend and I decided to have a suburban date night not too long ago and we went on a Fr
Experience was very bad .staff does not care about the guest what they have to say. We had issue with lane which was giving an error while playing . When we told this to staff three times but they do not care about the it. We asked that we don't want to play and we don't want to play but they charged for the whole game what we didn't have play. They don't want to know what's happening. I had guest and it was very embarrassing. I will never go there even if I am getting it free.so embarrassing
Had a weird glitch where the lane next to us was affecting our score, also they threw away my soft drink even though it was still full, annoyed me a bit but it was near closing so I guess they just wanted us out soon. Otherwise it was aight, after the glitch, games went smoothly
Will not come back here the staff is RUDE. Trying to have a good time with my kids and my teen daughter is not the best bowler. We asked them to put the rails up for her after the ball got stuck in the gutter and she was totally embarrassed (like a teen girl would be) and were just flat out told NO by the manager. The manager wouldn't even give me a reason. When I asked the cashier she said ?They're for little kids. How old is your daughter?? Does it really matter? Are we competing with the other people her
Before going here I read the reviews, but I still gave them the benefit of doubt and went. Their customer service was terrible!!! It's embarrassing to have this bad of customer service in this area. Beth, the manager is a total embarrassment for this bowling alley. Long story short, I my husband ordered food, they messed up his order. At that point he didn't want it anymore, and wanted to be issued a refund, but Beth didn't give it. We didn't get the food or our money back. On top of it all she was trying
Will never be returning to this place. Whatever manager or asst. manager was working on Friday, November 23, was the rudest person I have ever dealt with. My friends and I were looking forward to seeing each other over the Thanksgiving holiday and a few of us showed up early and asked for two lanes next to each other. We prepaid for two games on one lane and the remaining friends all came in and requested lanes 29 and 30 for two games each. At the end of the night, they charged us for two additional gam
Great no frills old school bowling alley. The Friday night special is a great value for the area and they recently upgraded their food offerings. Always a fun time.
As of yesterday when I most recently bowled, every thing was great. Management on top of all aspects of my experience. Pin setters worked without fail. Looking forward to next week.
Tonight I had a wonderful time at Bowl America Fairfax with my family. I've been coming here for 10 years and have never encountered bad service. The staff was also very accommodating with my sisterss anxiety as well. I would recommend them to everyone looking for great bowling and a great experience.
I've been bowling here for years. The lanes are usually in pretty good shape. The staff has been good even with some change over the years. Food is typical bowling alley fare. The price M-Th to bowl unlimited is very cheap.
The absolute WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my ENTIRE life. There is not an ounce of my being that would recommend this bowling alley to anyone. The way this staff treats paying customers is a total disgrace and no one should be treated the way I was today. I will NEVER return to this bowling alley and would strongly suggest you take your money and business to people that actually deserve it. This place is disgusting. If I could give negative stars I would. They should all be ashamed.
We had a large party of children with lots of energy. The staff was accommodating, courteous and patient. Great service. Definitely visit again.
Don't bowl here. The staff is awful and this place hasn't be update since 1970, they still use cathode ray tube displays. They lie about the prices and take a credit card up front before you begin to make you believe you're prepaying. They charge per game per person so a 2 person hour rental comes out to $50.
People rude, bowling lanes not good, their games keep loosing track of the score and keep resetting on their own. When this happened multiple times we were wanting to cancel the game and they were rude and made us pay for all games. So please avoid until there is no other option and you really want to bowl!!
Haven't bowled for many years and felt very comfortable and welcome for various reasons! One of them being Nick, who helped out my family with shoes + our lane. Will definitely be coming back to this Bowl America!
We come to this alley every monday. The extremely friendly staff knows us by name and is what keeps us coming back. The lanes get oiled regularly, TV's between the lanes, clean bathrooms and best of all only $7.49 + shoes all you can bowl 9pm-12 during weeknights. Definitely a spot for bowlers rather than the glamor of an alley like pinstripes in Georgetown.
Well, I have to admit, I've been there twice, but it's kinda weird there. First, it has an amazing vibe to it, like an old time-y one. Music is amazing! The guy at the shoe thing seems like her hates his life, but ehh. Bowling is so much fun there! I feel so happy when I go there! I've read the bad reviews, and I made sure I didn't eat anything? but like? ehh? whatevs. They've been nice to me so far so? yeah. And lastly, I think I've had more fun there, then anywhere else! Rating: 4/5
Worst bowling place I've ever gone to. Customer treatment is the worst I've ever seen. Our game broke and workers told us it is fixed (which was not) we continued playing until it finished. We went up to pay and the total went from 12$ to 48$! The workers response said that we did NOT COMPLAIN ENOUGH! This is bs. bowling is supposed to brighten the mood however this experience worsened it tremendously. If I could give negative stars to this place I'd do -100
Be bowled over and enjoy the interactions with bowler's of different skill levels!
Would give negative stars if at all possible. The entire night was a nightmare with the staff. Our entire group paid per game and were fine with that because we weren't sure how much the group wanted to play; however, our games were interrupted 3 times due to the staff saying it was "computer problems". Then Jenny at the front continued to to say we didn't know much about bowling systems or cross bowling; however, I have bowled in league for over a year and her comments became an insult because I knew ev
Really love this bowling alley. It is so throw back, really old score machines and everything but the lanes are fantastic, people are great. Great experience. Best bowling alley in this area.
Absolutely love the music that you can just sing along and the prices aren't that bad. Nicholas was very kind and funny. Definitely would come again with the crew. Will work on becoming a bowling star!
Still as good as it was 35 years ago when I would go with my parents for their league bowling, but better because no one is smoking.
Bad customer service , the old lady was very mean. I paid $25 and I told her can I choose my table and she said no . She gives me a table next to a drunk people?s and I told her I want to change my table before we start playing and she said no . We left and she didn't refund the money for us .
We tried to go bowling at this "establishment" recently with our kids. The person working the desk was extremely rude, refusing to acknowledge our existence for five minutes despite looking up to see we were waiting and me saying "excuse me" politely several times. There was no one else around but he couldn't be bothered. When he finally did come over, he acted like we were inconveniencing him. So far, annoying, but not a huge deal. We went to start bowling (which we never got to do) and I discovered that
Don't even want to "1 star" but I have to. This place is such a rip off. There were no prices for bowling. Such a rip off. Payed $60 and some change for 3 games and it was myself and 1 other. Also pitchers of beer is per 2 people, fine, but when there's 3 people, they wouldn't let us get 2 pitchers....horrible place, people, and prices. I don't recommend to know one
I recently came in here on a Monday night for the ?$7.49 All You Can Bowl? special with some friends who are home from college. The service was great and we had tons of fun! Will be coming back here a lot this summer.
Know that if you simply make a reservation for lane, you are charged an 18% ?event fee? on everything (lane, shoes, food, drinks, etc). Absolutely ridiculous to be charged an additional 18% just to make a lane reservation.
Older bowling alley, but clean and well kept. The only issue we had was that while we bowled, our children would shout ?yay!? Or ?woohoo!? After every turn. We weren't out of control or being overly loud, but management came by our lane to ask our kids to quiet down. Seriously? It's a bowling alley filled with kids. Ours wasn't the only kid cheering. #partypoopers.
Overall good experience and a fun night out for some quick games of bowling. Definitely nothing upgraded to this bowling alley like others I have been to, but if you are just looking to bowl, this is the place to go.
We went today and it was awful, starting with the terrible customer service from the cashier, we order wings which were really cold in the inside it seems like the made the food long before and just reheated, purchased the card for the games but all the machines were broken when asked for a refund they refused and told us to use the card in other locations, most of the screens are quite old and we had to ask for help more than 5 times because the system was frozen and we were unable to play.
Quality of everything is poor. The staff is Un friendly starting at the door to the kitchen staff. The guy behind the bar Mohammad gives un-needed attitude for everything. The guys at the desk want nothing else then to not talk to you. I used to come here a ton before Sean the old manager left now I don't know who runs it but they don't enjoy their job and it shows. Sad to see the only bowling ally for locals of fairfax be so bad. Seems like if you wanna really enjoy a night bowling you have to drive to Res
Staff was friendly, but food was a bit pricey
Very rude and abrasive, was told that the rate was about $5 per game and we ended up getting charged $7 per game because we bowled into 7pm. I would never recommend this place.
Great place to bowl! Nicholas rocks! Love that guy. They put on the disco lights so it's great for kids and teens. I will train to be a bowling master here. Y?all will see me here every night ??
Fun bowling alley in Faifax. The kids love coming here and you can always get a lane.
Some lanes stop working really easily. Whenever I go there I feel like I went back in time to the 80s because of the looks of the place. The service is decent, though it feels a little pricey to play.
After going to the bowling alley in Centreville, I will never come back here. Very limited selection on food/beer and everything is old/run down. When a girl in my group asked for a lighter ball they said it was reserved for children.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
