I'm not super sure how I feel about my visit here, some positives and negatives. Firstly, the service was exceptional. Staff were extremely friendly to us and I definitely felt they cared about our experience. We did not get food, however the bartender was quick and attentive. Secondly, I will say - the bowling itself was pretty fun. Shoes weren't old or smelly. Lanes/pins were definitely good quality. The only con in my opinion is the price. I understand they can charge what they charge as it's the only
Amazing experience!! Very friendly employees!! We came here on a Saturday evening and it was busy.. almost a wait of 1.5 hours. But we were able to use the time to get a couple of drinks and sit by the fire!! $ 60 hr for bowling for 2 people... Not sure if it's by person or time.. Call and check. Free Parking!!
I've been here before and absolutely loved it. This recent visit however, my cousin and I walked out after getting served our soft drinks and not having our order taken for over 15 minutes. There appeared to be only one person working who was trending bar primarily. After bringing our drinks and menus, he just never came back. We watched him just continue to take care of everyone at the bar and patrons that were newly there coming in from outside... for at least 15 (or more) minutes. Giving 3 stars because
Wow! I have been to a lot of bowling alleys. This place is my new favorite!! There has been a lot of work put into this facility. This place is more than just a bowling alley. It truly feels like a great place to hang out. Lots of fun to be had. New friends to be made. Great food and drinks available. They even have live bands to listen to while you are hanging out with friends! I can't wait to visit again!
Excellent experience at Big Z?s! My husband and I went in last minute to try to watch the Super Bowl and saw a promotion for their Super Bowl party. We were immediately greeted by their friendly staff who made a huge effort to accommodate us. When I asked if there was any seating in the party room the staff went and got us a table from another room and carried it in! It was so kind as they were having a very busy night. For $25 a person got you a drink and unlimited buffet. They did an amazing job keeping i
Went there the first time and loved it. Decided to try again. Order was wrong so I brought it back ( Big mistake). Old order sat at the hostess stand. Waited 10 minutes or so for new order. Hostess came out with food. Put new food in old food containers. Kept the same fries in old box. Got home and burger bun was so greasy and unedible. Burger was supposed to be well done and was meduim rare and super greasy. Definitely won't try a third time.
Wow!! What an amazing job the new owners did renovating the old tired alley that had been there before!! It's modern, clean and has a great vibe. There are 8 alleys for bowling pleasure and a new bar area with 3 TV's, seated tables for about 25 and additional 10 at the bar. The most exciting part is the Game Room area that is not yet finished!!! It will have an additional bar with games such as pool, shuffle board, virtual golf , punching bag and much more. They've even made a space for future live music!!
We reserved 3 lanes ahead of time. On the day of (wasn't overly busy) we only ended up needing 2 lanes. They told me they would refund the cost of the lane we never used. After several calls no follow through from management and no one picks up. There goes almost 100 $. While we were there one of the lanes went down and had to move our party, bowling took us an extra 45 mins.
Fun little eatery with live music on certain nights, plenty of fun for kids of all ages and bowling food was pretty tasty too
TLDR: Don't come here if you are hungry. Cool place and good food- BUT they clearly have no handle on service. We came twice: Once in the summer of 2023 and again in the winter of 2024. They a use a self-serve kiosk ordering system so there are no actual servers. The first time it took well over an hour for our food to arrive. This time- we are still waiting as I type this and we're approaching 1h 40min. We asked the manager and they admitted they lost the order- UNREAL! The manager and runners surfa
This place is awesome. Issac and the crew here make you feel at home. The lanes are very new and fast, too. Plus the beer selection is good. This bowling alley is a great place for a date night or a night out with the kids!
Brought my kids here during a rainy day of our vacation to the area. The kids had so much fun. The prices are very reasonable. The drinks and food were excellent. Definitely a great place to hang out with friends and/or family. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Good food, fun place to hang out with friends and family. You really can't go wrong, has something for everyone.
My friends and I ventured into Big Z's this past Saturday and it did not disappoint! The place has it all - from the bowling lanes, to pool and other bar games, to live music and TVs - there is family fun for everyone! There is ample amount of space and seating and we never had to wait long for a drink at the bar (espresso martinis did not disappoint). The staff was very friendly and welcoming - they were able to handle our rowdy friend group with ease. Food was great - definitely should try out the pimento
On Tuesday at noon there was not many casual restaurants open for lunch. I walked past it a few times. The patio and restaurant looked very inviting but I didn't expect it to be so good. The bartender/server was really pleasant. The chef accommodated my request. Good portion is good for 3 meals. Icing on top, free parking right in front of the restaurant on Main Street.
This is the worst bowling alley I have ever been to. It costs an insane $60 to bowl for one hour and 20 minutes of that hour was waiting for the StringPins to untangle.
Super place to unwind, loved the shuffle board and the table hockey
Fun for kids and adults. Went on a beautiful day after a long hike with a bunch of kids. The staff was super friendly. As the adults we could sit outside and enjoy the day with a beer. Fries was delicious.
My friends and I stopped by Big Z?s for some drinks and bowling but we stayed for the people and fun! We ordered cocktails and enjoyed the live music until it was time for us to bowl. We had such a blast dancing and singing with the band. After a while, we took our lanes and had the best time playing. We enjoyed some snacks such as the hot dogs, turkey club, Mediterranean salad, Mac and cheese and much more! Beyond the bowling, food, and drinks, the vibe and people are what make this place special. I can't
This is a great place to grab a drink, watch the game, play some pool, or bowl a few frames. Comparatively to the rest of the places in town, there is a lot more elbow room in the bar and pool room. But, it's a smaller bowling alley with 4 seating areas, each set up with two lanes. The seating is a little close quarters, so be sure to only take your bestest of friends??. It's set up well if you are going with a small group. We went on a Sunday night in the off-season(beginning of January), and there were on
We have hosted and attended birthday parties here for little kids and it is great! The kids had a great time and it felt very family friendly! They allow you to decorate and have your own space without being shoved in a corner! Food and drinks are also great ?? I've been dreaming of their chicken wings since Saturday! Staff is super friendly and helpful too! Definitely worth checking out the new space!
Had a good time tonight at Big Z?s. We wanted a casual dinner and got so much more. The food came out quick and hot. Rob?s spicy chicken was money. So good! I had a special, brisket Mac and cheese. And?there is plenty to keep the family busy. Video games, Connect 4, Jenga, pool, and so much more. Really was a great experience.
I never thought I'd be a person who regularly hung out at a bowling alley?but this one has a pleasant vibe. Food is great for bar snacks, there's pick-up bowling leagues, shuffleboard, darts, pool and jenga. The staff is wonderful. The owner is a genuine guy?and fun to bowl with. The locals are welcoming and easy to talk to.
Clean, good food, friendly and accommodating staff! Definitely check it out
Big Z's is AWESOME! We went over the weekend with our family of four and five additional kids of all ages, and we all had a blast. The bowling was fun and everywhere inside was extremely clean! Staff was friendly and eager to help. Amongst the 9 of us, we ordered almost everything on the menu and found the food to be reasonably priced and delicious. We had a great first experience and will definitely be back very soon!
Best spot in placid Great pool tables..lots of games..New bowling lanes. The simulator is brand new. The choice of golf courses they provide is excellent. They have great pub grub. Lots of TV showing all sports Live music also Fun for everyone
I wanted to get an order to go and the hostess said they were too busy and understaffed to do a takeout order (I've never heard of a restaurant saying no to takeout - it's easy money with no extra staff necessary)
Loved the atmosphere. Very cool bowling alley.
On Tuesday night, I went bowling with some friends, and we had a great time. Later, I headed to the bar to order beers for my friend and me. Unfortunately, the lady at the bar seemed consistently upset and was not accommodating, mirroring my previous experience. About an hour later, my girlfriend and I decided to grab a hot dog. I ordered one with tomatoes, mushrooms, and saut?ed onions. However, when the food arrived, the hot dog lacked mushrooms, the onions weren't saut?ed as specified in the menu, and t
OMG! Went here on St. Patrick?s Day. I'm a ?part time local? and I had been there when it was pretty much just the bowling alley before. I was a bit skeptical of spending the holiday at a new place but let me tell you, the bar scene was fantastic. Totally festive but also chill at the same time. Really cool vibe. The corn beef and cabbage was TO DIE FOR. Staff was friendly and service was great. The renovation looks awesome and between the bar, litany of arcade games, bubble hockey, etc my quick drink turn
One the best places to go out and have fun in lake placid. Games and activities throughout the entire establishment with two bars and a great menu. Burgers, sandwiches, wings everything we've ordered tasted great with exceptional customer service. Manager was super friendly and helpful with the everything. Also a great place to bring kids!!
My wife and I went here for some fun activity to do, since most things in lake placid this time of year are closed. The service was terrible we waited 10 minutes for a kid to come and give us shoes and a lane because he was in bowling himself and wasn't paying attention. We ordered nachos and a pretzel with cheese. The pretzel was fine but the cheese seemed grainy like it's a powder cheese mix and the nachos my wife couldn't eat she ordered them with no tomato?s or onion and the blackened chicken. so I didn
We had a good experience bowling with young children here. It got crowded and chaotic at the end when a big group arrived...not their fault but the other group lacked bowling etiquette. Our lane had an issue with getting a ball stuck and the service was slow; also it is not cheap so lack of value merits the 4 stars instead of 5.
Eww ?? they have ?parmisan truffle fries? on the menu but they don't know what it is. We were served regular fries when we ordered parmesan truffle fries, and then when we told the waiter it's not what we expected, he responded ?that's the oil, and that's the cheese? pointing at (the only) small piece of cheese in the regular fries. also, the nachos were awful, and service is extremely disappointing. Eww??
Was outrageously expensive ($79 for 3 people to play for one hour which amounted to 2.5 games). I hadnt been here since it was bowlwinkles which was both more fun and more affordable. I'm editing this to add in response to the owners reply that while they may feel it's comparable to elsewhere, the 3 of us bowled at the alley in Tupper Lake for almost 3 hours this past weekend on a Saturday and it was only $42 total, shoes included. They also had music, a big arcade area and an entire sports bar section as w
The other night I went bowling with friends and had a disappointing experience with the service at the bar. From the moment we arrived and ordered our first beer, the woman at the bar (a woman with short black hair) was extremely hostile. When we went to order food, it arrived without the additional ingredients we had paid for, and when I politely pointed out the error, the woman became even more agitated for no reason. To make matters worse, when the corrected order arrived, the male staff member who broug
We had our sons 6th birthday party at Big Z?s, it was wonderful!! The space provided for us was spacious and super accommodating. We order pizzas, which fed the kids and left overs for adults. With a party of 14 kids, there was enough shoes (all being similar size). The bowling was long enough but the perfect time frame for that age. The staff was super friendly, helpful and fast to help with lanes when needed. I would highly recommend having a birthday party, going to bowl/play games, or even for a drink.
Went here over the weekend and had a great time! Really nice bowling alley with good food and drinks!
71$ for an hour of bowling is astounding. Any other place is around 10-15$ a game. Lanes were way too oiled, stringed pins, You could barely get 2 games in, when your time runs out it completely shuts down your game. We could never even finish our game.
The new owners are renovating the old tired alley that had been there before!! It's clean, upscale, vibrant and has three garage doors that can open in summer!. There are 8 alleys for bowling. A new bar area with 3 TV's, seated tables for 25 with additional 10 at the bar and full kitchen! The most exciting part......THE GAME ROOM! At the time of this writing, the game room was still not finished yet but the Owners hope to have it ready by February 1, 2023. Amenities include an additional bar, pool tables, "
We stopped in to play some pool, and had a great time. The game room area with pool tables, darts, and video games is updated and is set up really well. The service was also very good.
Big Z?s is an amazing addition to Lake Placid! The food, the drinks, the service all amazing! Not to mention they had a fantastic band the night we went. This place has something for everyone. Can't wait to come back.
Big Z?s is perfect for the whole family. With a great new bowling alley/arcade for the kids and a bar/restaurant for the adults ??
The fireplace outside was cool The guy at the reception desk did not seem interested to answer/help with any questions. The bartender on the band stage side was repulsive and rude. She was drinking before serving patrons, took forever to make drinks, offered me a shot and then when I went to reach for it yanked it back, threw dirty looks and said "what are you doing this is mine!!" And proceeded to drink it.
Walked in staff stated we could sit anywhere. Sat down no service, so we got up and they told us it was it just closed on that side. So we moved as they stated, sat down and still no service after 10 mins. Not impressed, but nice looking place
In town for Ironman so killed a little time at the lanes. Nice place with good drinks, seems very new and clean.
Contacted to book a party of 10 for 2 hours of bowling. Apparently lanes are made of solid gold. Have bowled all over the world and have never seen prices so high anywhere. Overestimating their value is an understatement. Spending no money here.
Great bartender. Food so in correct. I ordered a simple single burger with jalape?os. Well got a double burger...no jalape?os and with amercan cheese instead of pepper jack. Wow. There were 3 people on the bar. ......why. I'm local.
If you have known this place through the years, you will know that they did an excellent job renovating it. It is now a welcoming family place with a good bar and nightlife for adults as well.
Bowled for an hour with my wife, got in 3 games. There's a bar right there, and they have food.
We had a really fun time with two side by side lanes. One for the little guys and one for adults. The food was very good and large portions. The staff was very helpful!
Great bowling ally in Lake Placid! We were kid free one weekend and it was pouring outside so decided to go bowling:). So much fun. Can't wait for our kids to get a little older so we can take them:)
Good wings and drinks. Games ate great. I'm just really bad a pool ?? ?? but they have connect four so that helps my pride.
Although they weren't able to recore my personal ball, they were very helpful when I took a house ball out in the parking lot and accidentally got it stuck under some ones car.
Best spot in Lake Placid! Big Z?s has tons of activities, great food and great drinks. We recently went, and the lamb and nachos are must-haves. This is an excellent spot for all ages.
Had some great drinks on the dog friendly patio. The owner treated us to some ice cream to help combat the heatwave.
This place is awesome! Nicest bowling alley we've ever been to. Good music and great beer selection. Check it out!
With games like bowling, billiard and arcades, a bar, food and a place to sit. From senior couples to families with young kids. Just a great place to eat, enjoy and hangout!
Fun atmosphere, large portions and friendly staff. Fish and chips were yummy!
Has bowling pool tables other stuff going on a few bar type games. great for adult fun mostly.
This place is great! The employees are great, the place is clean and the drinks are so good! 10/10 recommend this place. Came for our Bach and will def come again
Great experience. They had unique experience. Played Angry Birds bowling and Horse bowling. Good time playing shuffle board, giant Jenga, Darts and foosball.
Great food, great portions, and a great price! Jim and Isaac were super sweet, I wish I lived here just so I could eat here all the time!
Amazing place! Friendly staff, great drinks and fun atmosphere. Will go here any time I visit lake placid. Great place to take the family.
Had a wonderful time bowling here on a Friday night The person at the desk, helping with shoe rentals etc is super friendly and with a great sense of humor.
$60 an hour for bowling, which is $10 a game. No AC, they keep the 3 big doors open, so it is hot.
I did not get the full time I paid for on alley. Manager said he would adjust time but did not. When I brought it to his attention he thought it was close enough and laughed. Very unprofessional.
We love this place! It's welcoming and fun. Bowling is great everything is clean and grave digger is the best
Great place, delicious food!
We are happy that it is open and did have fun but really didn't appreciate being told by the cashier that there was A/C when there wasn't. What is wrong with the truth??
They games they have on the simulator are way off we went back after trying all the games to see if it was just the one game but all games are off go and tell them and they don't care would never recommend this place
Bowling was great. Really fun to get together with family friends
This is out 3rd time here and we love it. We had the pizza today and it was fantastic!
Great Place! Bowling, Golf Simulator, Shuffle Board, Pinball, Food and Drink. Lots of fun. Great staff.
Sick spot hours make 0 sense 5pm till Sunday on a long weekend in a tourist village is wild
Great atmosphere in here. Bar is great, even if you're sober
Awesome place. One of the coolest spots. Kyle was the man and very nice. Highly highly recommend.
Thank you for accommodating us tonight with our boy shadow. We had a lot of fun and are very thankful!!
Not kidding when I say it's the best food in town! The bowling and games? It's the added bonus.
Great atmosphere for drinks/food or fun with the family. Top notch.
Great food and fun atmosphere!!! Very good drink menu
Food was great and if you have kids it's a great place
Employee I encountered today was flexible friendly and more then willing to accommodate. Thank you so much...
Surprisingly fun and equally surprising good food.
Excellent food and service!! Try the sports simulator! It's awesome!!
Best place ever grave digger hosted us and let us bowl after last call.
Lots to do! Love the live music on the weekends
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pool tables in arcades remain a fantastic draw in 2025! Games like 8-ball or 9-ball offer tactile, skill-based fun that blends strategy and precision. Modern tables feature smooth felt, responsive cues, and vibrant designs, enhancing the classic experience. Arcades foster a social vibe with casual matches or competitive tournaments, appealing to all skill levels. Unlike digital games, pool’s physicality—lining up shots, feeling the cue’s weight—keeps it timeless.
