Beer Study-Durham

This place has some good beer. I tried 4 beers and loved all of them. There Hefe is awesome. Prices are also pretty reasonable. They even have beer and wine to shop. This establishment is connected with another establishment where you can get some food and they have a bar too. Service was quick and good. Ambiance inside is pretty huge and could have been decorated more nicely. But overall it's good. They have an awesome outside seating too.

In town for training and looking for place with a good selection of brews and a bite to eat. This checked all those boxes and on top of that they had a bottle shop included. Great collaborative space with quirky eclectic atmosphere. Good spot for kicking it back with friends and coworkers alike to enjoy a relaxed time. Cheers!!

Soccer lovers destination. All of the games and fantastic food to go with it. Seats and tv's inside and out with a very steady flow of families, dogs and soccer fans. The food is spot on! Everything from appetizers, salads, burgers and sandwiches. I am so happy chef Matt kept the salmon bacon. Crispy and delicious and works wonderfully on a BLT with the salty, tangy dill mayo. Energetic and friendly bartenders, and the astounding collection of beers on tap is varied enough for everyone to find something they like. I Also love that they have a nice wine selection. Plenty of outdoor seating, and food is available next door at the Boot Room!

There are plenty of drink options, lots of tables both indoors and outdoors, and plenty of parking space. I tried a drink with THC.

Good beer selection in a decent environment and location. Dog friendly and family friendly but gets crowded because of limited space and seating. Dog owners feel a bit too comfortable with their dogs in this place so if you don't like dogs be prepared to be annoyed. Look up menu on your phone because you'll need a telescope to read the tiny text on their screens behind the bar.

Great staff and amazing beer. It was the perfect lunch: sandwiches from Foster?s and Starpoint brews at Beer Study. And as an added bonus my son had a blast in the game room. I wish I had a Beer Study near me at home.

I've been coming to Beer Study for years now. I was so excited when they opened the branch in Durham and now this is my favorite spot to have a date with my husband. We've watched it grow over the years and I love the atmosphere and what they've done with the place. If you want a fancy cocktail bar and to dress up, this ain't it. Great place with a large selection of beers. Connected to a food place so you can eat, drink, and play arcade games all in the same place. The only small annoyance I have is that they say no samples. When there's 30+ taps you need a sample or two to narrow down what you want.

This place is wonderful and has a very communal vibe. The beer selection is out of this world and there's tons of space to hang out indoors and outside on the patio.

Fantastic beer bar. Hipster quality without the pretentious air. Arcade in the back is cheap and everything works. The selection will satisfy every taste and style. Knowledgeable and friendly staff as well as a great selection of four and six-packs. If your favorite beer isn't in a can or bottle fear not for they will can anything you want so you can take it home and show off your impeccable tastes. Favorite spot it all of Durham.

Fantastic scene. Great selection on tap. Awesome to-go options from local, national, and international breweries. Bar snacks (cheese, crackers, hummus, pretzels, etc...) to nosh on while sipping some tasty beer. Check out the arcade in back. You will definitely find some fun favorites from growing. If you're here during the day, you may catch the brewery at Starpoint working on some great beer. Waft the delicious aromas and bask in awesome company. The bartenders and staff are all amazing.

The selection was amazing with all types of beer available. I had a wonderful pilsner and my wife enjoyed a local IPA. There are plenty of food options around and thr patio has a great vibe.

Amazing selection of beers on tap and to go beers. Counter serve, so find a seat where you can. They do not offer flights, but you can get multiple 10oz pours.

The woman behind the bar was terribly unfriendly, but then maybe she's shy, or was having a bad day? Now that that's been said... Everything else about this place is great. I had been warned about Beer Study - Durham, that the beer is great but the service is very sketchy. I just went there and I get it! I got a beer and the guy serving me was very friendly. But when I went to pay, it was a different guy and a totally different experience. There were ten people in line and all I needed to do is close out. I asked the guy in the front of the one if minded me jumping in to close out, and he said it was fine. But the guy at the till refused to close me out and told me to get at t

Great prices for good beer! There's a cool arcade in the back, a nice sized tv to watch games and movies on the front. The scene is very chill with cool artwork along the walls. This evening they a had a DJ that played a pretty dope set. They allow you to bring in food to enjoy with your beer. They also have a great selection of beer to buy and take home if you don't have the time to sit and chill there.

I've been wanting to try this place out. The ambiance seems super cool and they have a ton of beers on tap. However I was very disappointed in the service. It wasn't super packed, but they only had one person working behind the counter. She wasn't very friendly or helpful. She had a bit of an attitude. It just have been because she didn't have any help! There are too many other great breweries in the area. Glad I checked the box on my list, but definitely won't be back.

Beer Study is awesome!! This was my first time here and I can confidently state that I'll be back here again and again. They have a cool vibe going with great music and awesome beer! The staff is super nice and knowledgeable and will help you out with tastings or a general knowledge dump. They also have a bottle shop where you'll find great beers. They allowed you to bring food in from outside which is cool!

The beer's pretty good. But ... whenever I go up to order, I feel like I'm inconveniencing the staff. One guy called my choice "boring." It was a beer they made, lol. On another visit, when my wife couldn't read the small font on the menu and asked a question: (eye roll) "Just read the menu." It's a good spot and the beer is tasty, but be prepared for the ordering to be a socially awkward experience.

This place is fantastic! Baristas really know their beers, and have quite a variety on tap or available. One fun aspect is that the beers on tap change in price/cost as the keg gets closer to empty (which is also displayed on the large TV screens). Fun and open place to hangout with friends. Had no trouble hearing my buddy across the table.

Nice selection. However, bartender was less than helpful. After asking a few questions we asked for a taste of the one we were considering. We were told, "We don't give samples." Didn't seem to be interested in our business so we left.

One of my favorite pre-pandemic hang-outs. Inside is cozy, there are plenty of great beers on tap, and it's a killer bottle shop, too! Now that they've added the Boot Room for tasty eats, you can practically live here. The staff are friendly and helpful and this place added online ordering at the start of the pandemic and took things seriously. They really care about their customers and I will continue to support them for it.

Outstanding draft and bottle selection, knowledgeable staff, perfect for enjoying a pint. During warm weather the garage door doors get rollers up. Bonus points for having Starpoint brewing in the back, plenty of old school arcade machines and loads of food options next door/across the street.

Amazing beer options! Bring your dog on a leash. Charge your phone. Bring your own food. Bring your kids. They have an arcade. They have a bit of everything. Outdoor seating is available, too! I have been coming to Beer Study consistently for about a year or so for trivia, and when I just want a good brew. The bartenders are always nice and welcoming, and hands down have the best draft beer selection in Durham. I keep telling friends to come here, and will continue to do so myself for a long time!

Nice casual place to sample a large variety of craft beers and being pet friendly was an added bonus. Parking is free but slightly limited. I had a dark chocolate Porter that was intense. Lots of great conversations about the beers offered and sampled.

I love this beer, kid and dog friendly place. Staff is helpful and nice. Great rotating beer taps and Starpoint brewery selections. Nana Taco, the Q Shack, and The Boot are nearby for carry in eating.

The beer study is a fantastic place to hang out with friends. They have pinball and air hockey. They have comfortable seating accommodations including, benches, couches and an outdoor area. You can bring your dog. They have a wife variety of beers both on tap and in bottles.

Fantastic tap list, and you can drink while you shop. They carry a lot of stuff you just can't find elsewhere, even at some of Durham's other top bottle shops. Also a neat arcade in the back, and a comfortable place to hang out with a laptop for a few hours.

Miss Nico, but still love to go here fror a beer when I'm back in Durham. Super cool place to get a great beer, pet a cute pup, and grab an amazing bottle of wine. Great draft beer selection that you can check online via the digital pour app, impressive bottle and can options to take home, delicious nearby restaurants if you are hungry. Also dog friendly. The arcade games in back are the cherry on the sundae.

Venue is decent. Seems people love to go here and pay a minimum of $7 for a beer and get spoken condescendingly to by the bartender with a beard that is so long he has to hold it out of your drink while he pours it. I can't complain too much about the beer prices because that seems to be the going trend these days and nobody is willing to refuse to overpay. That dude is probably the least friendly bartender I've met though. I thought bartenders needed to be nice as a rule?

I live 0.4 mi away and I LOVE Beer Study!! I just moved to Durham last May and this is the perfect location to meet up with new friends or dates. I bring my handsome German Shepard-Chow chow mix, Dean. People always love commenting on his bright blue mat (I'm sure the owners know who I am saying that. It is great enrichment for him to meet new dogs & people, and great for me because I don't feel like a bad dog-mom leaving him at home! Great place close to home for beer with neighborhood feel. Very laid back. Easy parking. I'm not an expert in beer but I enjoyed everything I had (Grimm's sour and a blood orange cider). I didn't get to enjoy the arcade but plan on taking my son at some point.

There is always something interesting on the rotating taps and there are always good selections from Starpoint. It's a laid back, fun, eclectic atmosphere. I wanted to support a local business and get my beer from a local store, instead of going to the grocery store. I learned recently that City of Durham will be shutting down all breweries, etc., and limiting curbside pickup. Let me re-iterate this. I could have gone to the grocery store. I want to preface this by saying that, I'm not a beer enthusiast as much as I am an arcade enthusiast. I've been here on 2 separate occasions now, both times for play. I found that Beer Study has a selection of Pinball games and so I gave it a shot. My first time there, Ghost Busters pinball had an issue where if you pressed both flipper buttons at the same time, the game shuts off and then reboots. A large, varied tap list, a welcoming environment, arcade games, and racks of bottles to browse and purchase are all great reasons to visit. The draw is not lost on the community, either, as the place became increasingly crowded as the night progressed. Two thumbs up... will return.

Good food. Had an issue with order, some language barrier issues. Atmosphere is good, great appetizers..Cheese Curds were great as well as the Tatter Tots yummy... Cob salad was good and a good portion.

A cool neighborhood place. I do wish the bartenders were a little more helpful and friendly. With such a large menu, it's always nice to have a little guidance on what to get. I also wish smoking wasn't allowed on the outdoor patio space. :(

HQ of the local Starpoint Brewin' and large selection if you are near downtown Durham. Large Events space, and game room space. Expanding currently with a spacious dining area next door and semi acoustic/ performance events space in back. Great spot! This place is family friendly yet great for young singles as well. Food at the adjecant The Boot Room is excellent and you can't beat the beer. We come often.

These guys are thinking outside the box. I love Durham, and I'm crazy for Beer Study-Durham. We can social distance and socialize! Rent a tent for up to 6 people. You bring the people and food. Fantastic spot with so many beers you cannot find at your local Harris Teeter. Everyone that works there is super friendly. Definitely a great spot to hang at with friends.

This bottle shop has the friendliest staff. They listen to what you want and make it happen. Their stock of NA beers is amazing and the prices are fantastic!

They have many different beers on tap but no food. You can go to a restaurant next door and bring it into Beer Study. There is an arcade in the back for kids while parents are studying beer.

I did not appreciate the way the server spoke to me. He was very rude for no reason. Just because someone else ruins your day, doesn't mean ruin someone else. Definitely will never come back.

It's sad when you have a dishonest bartender stiffing the customers. But I guess when the customers are buzzed, it's easier. Lucky for me, I wasn't drinking and called the bearded bartender out. I will never come to this place again.
