If you have kids or teens, this is an excellent place for birthday parties! Pedro and the rest of the team are kind and provide great customer service. The laser tag, arcade, bowling, and other attractions are all super fun?and they're always adding new things too!
Very affordable entertainment option if staying at the hotel, local, or traveling through and you need a break. Arcade Games cost an equivalent of about $1. Good food from the snack bar (they serve alcohol too), in fact, the cook actually asked how I liked it?! The great level of service continued when, and I didn't catch his name, another employee generously rounded up his ticket redemption for some prizes. There are certainly many great casinos along the CA coast, but the BRFEC made staying at Bear River
Great family fun and employees that seems to care, unlike the rest of this place.
Love this place! The pizza is yummy and it's tons of fun. There's lots to do for those who do not want to bowl as well.
What a fantastic time we had perfect place for family fun Can't not beat it anywhere Thank you!!!
Had to wait approximately 40min to get a bowling lane but there was a kid's party going on so maybe it was too full the day we went. There aren't many arcade machines and some are broken or missing things but it was fun anyway!
This is a cool location and I'm glad to have it in Humboldt but I was a tiny bit disappointed as an adult! We went mainly for the arcade but it was primarily just games of chance (not a surprise at a casino!), And they were all just ticket games. Kids'll like that, but I was hoping for some better arcade games. A few classics and hopefully some modern ones... maybe a Japanese import or two. (No DDR? Can you even be called an arcade without it?!) The Crane games were BS, just like always. But really it was
Great place for birthdays. Staff are super friendly and helpful.
Loads of fun for the family. Arcade is a bit expensive, but still a fun treat for the kids
The building istelf is really nice and newer which can be a vit of a let down once you actually get inside as the experience is fairly lack luster and leaves a lot to be desired. Very small aracde area & The 2 of the best arcade games are almost always out of order, which for such a small arcade it really can't be like that. It really limits the kids. Its nice to have the option of going here for us families with little kids, as we dont have a tone of places like this in our area for the kids, but they real
We had lots of fun and on Tuesdays its only $2 a game per person
Not well organized, forgot to reserve a table for the birthday party we made a month in advance reservations for. Food was terrible and the lemonade was mixed with Pepsi. They just dumped food on the table, didn't check to see if anything was needed. Far too expensive for the service promised and vastly lacked.
I wasn't there personally. My caregiver took my son for a birthday party. He had a great time, but he lost his phone. People stayed way after the birthday party searching but they couldn't find it. Later that day we got a call because they had found a phone. They asked my son some questions and he determined that it wasn't his. We waited and waited. We called a few times. We finally gave up and got him a new phone. They called 3 days later. They had found his phone under one of the bowling lanes. I ve
The snack has excellent customer service would recommend to all my friends and they have amazing food
Great bar, great atmosphere. 10 lanes and lots of big screens to watch the game. But been there twice and found out the lanes get oiled just a measly 3 times a week. It should be at least once a day. Don't count on your normal roll to do what you think it will do.
My Son wanted to have a party Here with his friends. They had a blast. The place is ultra clean too.
Got rid of the multitude of fun, beloved arcade games and replaced them with much fewer, cookie cutter and bland new games that cost WAYY more credits to use (8-15 now vs 3-8 before) with seemingly no cost difference so for the same price you can play only 2 or 3 games instead of 10-15!!! Also there didn't appear to be any prizes you could redeem for the tickets you earned so the ~1000 tickets I had saved up are useless now. Extremely disappointing to see the fall of my former favorite arcade in the area.
Great place to go with the family. I love that they open at 10am on Sundays.
Half the arcade was down for repair is off for some reason. There was 4 separate kids birthday parties, I was attending one. There is a bowling alley, which is affordable if your kids like to do that. I didn't get to try the laser tag, but they had that too. The food sales portion, half the staff were on their phones just spacing out. But the prices and efficiency was good. Cheap fountain drinks and popcorn.
I'd like to give them a 5 star but there new arcade is horrible. I get going with new aged stuff but the prices are way to high now(cost like $30 for 10min of games). Also all the basketball machines gone. The bowling here is the best thing they have for sure!
I went there for my grandson's 13th birthday party. There's nothing like watching 13-year-old boys bowl and eat! I saw and ate pizza. Nothing to ride home about but it was good enough. I also saw mozzarella sticks and french fries. So it's kid-oriented. If you want something better you can go to the restaurant in the casino or even better would be the snack bar. They make a pretty good cheeseburger combo. People are always friendly everywhere at Bear River. This place has video games and it's out of the wa
We just celebrated a 9 year olds birthday party with the lazer tag theme. Also purchased 2 extra lazer tag missions. Kids could only handle 2 missions, adults took the 3rd. Everything was clean, worked and the staff was pleasant. We had a blast and enjoyed the experience. Thank you Bear River for building the beautiful facility for everyone to enjoy.
Went for my Grandsons Birthday Party ....what a surprisingly Big Family Big Fun Nifty place!!! Ty 2 those that work there!!
Everybody had a great time! They have all kinds of games for young and old! And there is a place to get some fast food I think! Like pizza, nachos, and alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks.
Very fun. Obviously the best option for bowling for esthetic reasons. Super busy on the Saturday we went. There was a two hour wait for one lane. The staff seemed all over the place. Like kind of trying to figure out how to deal the the overflow of patrons. But friendly. I'll be going back for sure. Just have to check in then get some food or something.
Has everything you need to keep fit and entertain the family. The arcade is decent. Lots of games although some weren't working as with many arcades. The food is okay as well. The gym is clean and super nice with new equipment.
They don't give tickets but have the coin dozer game and don't list that your not winning nothing when you play. Small area and not very many games. Laser tag was fun.
Wow! What a huge improvement, the games are new and amazing and staff was very nice! Definitely will recommend! I'll be back soon.. good job ??
So much fun for my 4 year old and us! We went mid-day and paid full price for bowling $4/game. I did see they have specials everyday of the week in the evenings on their website. After bowling, we played arcade games. All but one side of one machine were working when we got there. A machine malfunctioned while my husband was playing and the staff offered 400 tickets as compensation. They offer a wide variety of games and we all had a lot of fun. All the staff were very friendly and helpful when needed. We w
Staff was excellent! Manager was very attentive that we had a good time. And we did enjoy bowling while the kids enjoyed the games. The food was outstanding. Their was a variety of items for everyone to choose from. We definitely would come again.
I booked a laser tag party a month in advance with the party room. Specifically with the room because i have 3 littles under 3. A bowling party was obviously scheduled for the same time as us. I reserved the room from 5-7 but wasn't allowed in until 5:05 (even though we showed up at 4:30) because they had already decorated for the little girls bowling party. We got notice at 5:51 that another party started at 6 so we had to leave the room that we had only been in for 45 minutes. Once we were out of the room
The kids had fun because they didn't know how expensive everything was or that the food sucked. Yes, i know the pizza is frozen but does it have to taste bad too. Also, the nachos were bad really greasy and I'm not sure why. Are the already out of the bag tortilla chips deep fried to warm them up? Im not sure. So, $60 in food that was very dissatisfing but the kids had fun.
Bad management. Most of the workers give a horrible impression to new paying customers. Not professional what so ever. The people in charge don't know what they are doing. Would rate it a zero if I could.
Had to rate this place since it's the third time I've come to this place with rude/unprofessional staff who seem to not care about customers and our experiences here. First 2 encouters, I've let it go, gave this place the benefit of the doubt since it seems like a lot of young teens work here, but it has happened too many times. My son (11 years) when picking prizes from points he earned, the rude lady there raised her voice at him!? When he told her he wanted Now & Later (candy) for the rest of the points
We went for bowling and did an hour when we started the kid said we could do more after if we wanted. When we tried to bowl another game he said there was to many people waiting so we had to leave . All in all I spent over $200. And was planning on more trips however I will not ever support a business that has such disregard. I feel part might be the way I look they're not lbgtq friendly
This place is a go to stop every time we come to visit. I've never had any issues at all. Amazing service ?? ?? Great bowling experience ?? . Great food at a good price. Everything in general was a great price?? There is nothing better then to put a smile on your kids face everytime you pull up to this place it's about them ?? ??
Nice facility, but poorly run. Not properly staffed and no help. We also rented a lane for an hour at the end of the hour asked for an extension in order to finish the game. They asked us to switch lanes promising to transfer our scores, but in the move the score was lost and we were able to complete a full game. If you go pay by the game not the time and expect to wait from what is shaping up to be at least a half hour for what little help they can provide. More often than not the bowling gets messed up,
We went there for video-games and laser-tag. The laser tag wasn't open, and several of the video games were out of service. This is usually the case, but it is a somewhat small arcade and a bit more noticeable than what I consider normal. We still had a good time.
A great addition to Humboldt county's lacking drug free rain season fun for kids. My kiddos enjoyed themselves. Cheap food too. We'll try bowling next time. The new build is in a beautiful location.
It is a bit pricey, but definitely a fantastic place to visit for all ages indoor fun. Only arcade in our area, only laser tag as well, and the bowling lanes are pretty nice. My children love going there and will probably be begging me to go again tomorrow.
Soooo disappointed! Went here and no joke 80 percent of machines were out of order, no sign saying it up from so already had added money to a card. 2 more machines didn't work that we let them know about. 3 people just chilling and chatting in the front. Told we were doing laser tag in 10 min, but 25 min later nothing. This place needs to get their stuff together, very disappointing and I go to the casino all the time.
Awesome fun. Everyone has smiles on their faces. Nice arcade, 10 bowling lanes, and snack bar. Great personnel and super clean. Great for families, dates, parties, and fun with friends. Separate building away from the casino and smoke. Great atmosphere.
Super fun for different ages and interests! My kids had fun with the arcade (1-, 6-, 7-years old) and laser tag (6- and 7-year-old). Many of the video games are digital versions of carnival games (shooting paper ducks, basketball, hammer-to-bell strength testing thingy), but others are traditional arcade games (skee ball, first-person shooters, racing, motion simulator). Next time we'll try bowling and billiards. There is a room for special events and party packages; looks like fun!
When I last went they had 5 lanes reserved for a paett y that was not going to be there for an hour and they would not let us play. So we had to buy cards for my group of 6 friends and we played the arcade insted of bowling Luke we originally planned. But other time I have gone were awesome so it just depends on the day.
The games are fun for a short time.. Not many to play that fully work. Bowling is great. Lazor tag is very fun. Food keeps changing how its made. Started off super yummy.. Now its just meh. If it come to you cold they will argue that they just made it and its fresh...last trip pizza was raw in middle.. Frys cold and hard..chicken strips over cooked. Hope they get this figured out.. The place is much needed for the community.
Kids had a great time. Pizza was not bad, prizes for video game tickets are much better than Chuck e cheeses. Plenty of staff to help us out, we will go again
The Bear River FEC is a great addition to the community. Would recommend for families! Manager is an excellent person and kind.
We had fun but to have a Birthday Party there you should bei aware some stuff people are not informed about what you booked already. Mistakes could happen but the Manager have to have a better management.
We had a great time. Different options for bowling game play. We played quick five frame games that kept everyone engaged and having fun. Thank you!
The atmosphere is fun. Bowling is always a good time... However, don't expect to slide when you let go of your bowling ball... There is absolutely no glide on the release. :/
Great place to hang out with friends and family. The arcade seem to be a little and the expensive side. Bowling was lots of fun. You can pay by the game or by the hour. Food and drinks were good also.
Great place to spend family time! We visited on a week night. The service was great and the pizza was really good too. Can't wait to return.
We waited forever to not be able to go bowling and then while we waited decided to use the arcade but after buying a card/credits found out all the games were either broken or halfway not working.
Bear River Family Ent. is the best destination for kids to have fun in Humboldt County. CA. Thanks for giving our children a safe place to play!! -R. John Duff III
Had lots of fun there were lots af fun games to play. Although it was hard to figure out the bowling. We over all had a great experience.
Customer service is amazing. Food offerings are great. Only wish we had something like this in Crescent City!
Had two of my kids birthday party?s here and they had a blast
Fin, fun, fun. Love the bowling games and games for kids. There is great food and drinks. The staff is outstanding. Thanks for their patience as we learned the bowling system.
fun games but they only play old head rock songs, nothing within the last 10 years lmao
We had our sons son's birthday party there and it was fantastic! Very helpful staff and there was so much for the kids and adults to do. Very worth it
A fun place to go to have fun with the family. They have some games and also bowling.
Horrible service. We were bowling, our (almost full) pizza was in a box behind us, and the employee tossed it in the trash. Employees are not friendly, and not helpful.
Such a blast, super clean, very nice staff, highly recommend lazer tag. Rachel was awesome, so sweet.
Great place! Wasn't to busy on a Saturday. Was surprised. But my kids had a fun time for my daughters birthday.
Good birthday party location... Bowling, arcade and laser tag. Kids lived the VR roller coaster!
Used to have prizes now u can't even use ur tickets for prizes sooo dumb plus 4$ a game??? R u joking?? Not a place I will ever return to at all
First time here and it was better then I expected. I attended my niece's bday party and everyone had a good time adults included.
Good place for kids, some arcade machines were down. I wish they would oil their lanes every once in a while. When asked they couldn't tell me the last time they were.
Bright, clean, fun, and LOUD. Pretty affordable food and games. Excellent laser tag arena!
There was so much to keep my kids entertained and the pizza was amazing we will be going back!
We came here to bowl and had a blast. The staff working was really friendly and seemed to enjoy the job. We loved it!!!
Loved it just what our little community needed. Its fun for all ages. The food was very good also
I am so happy that the bowling is now open, and on top of that they still have great food and super friendly staff. Some of the arcade games dont work, but other than that I would reccomend this place to anyone.
Loved playing here great place to bring family or friends to have a blast
BRFEC is great and a good rate. From the cleanliness, cold beer and friendly staff
didnt have the best experience while bowling here we got moved to three different lanes within like 20 minutes would suggest just driving to harbor lanes in eureka.
It's perfect for a few hours of good fun! We enjoyed it allot. Jp arcade game is the best.
Super great addition to the community. Glad to have laser tag and bowling so close to Fortuna, and your money goes a long way for Arcade Games!
Clean facilities and friendly staff helped to make my son's 11th birthday party a great one.
Good clean place to bowl and get a snack with the family.
Didn't put tickets on my sons card or my nephews. Never received the call back to fix it. Don't go any place that will scam chdren.
Fun place, played a few rounds of bowling. Good pizza. Good for the community, goid place for kids to hang out, gives them something to do.
Fun place to go. The one thing that sucks is everytime we have gone they have a bunch of games out of order. Tonight I'd say half of the games weren't working.
Great place to take the family especially for something to do on a rainy day.
Super friendly staff will definitely return had allot of fun and the kids crashed immediately on the drive home
My family has a good time playing video games, bowling, laser tag , and the pizza is good
Fun place for family night or hanging with friends with state-of-the-art bowling lanes and arcade games and a restaurant
Fun little place. Definitely beats Harbor Lanes for bowling.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
