Reviews Summary

Most reviews praise the arcade's friendly, helpful staff and clean facility, with many enjoying the fun atmosphere and family-friendly experience. Several mention good deals like Groupons. However, a common complaint is that many games were broken or out of order, leading to frustration. While some had minor issues, others found it a major drawback. Positive experiences often highlight staff generosity with tickets or refunds for faulty games. Overall, it's seen as a solid choice for families, but maintenance could improve consistency.

Walked off the street looking for some skiball. Was not disappointed! The wife and I had lots of fun on 20$ as you get a few bucks free when you spend certain amounts. We were out of credit and the guy that was there swooped in to save our game by loading a few bucks onto our zombie shooter! What a lovely arcade with a bunch of options. Looks like they purchased the area expanding to the next building and hopefully an upstairs be made as well, as it looks to be under construction.

Worst arcade I've ever been to. A lot of the machines are broken, the ones that are there aren't that fun. Points run out VERY quickly. Employee didn't help much either. Don't go here.

This the biggest and best arcade I've? ever been too.I couldn't believe how many different and wide assortment of games they had here. Everything was in there from the popular 80s games such as Space Invaders and Ms.Pac to The Walking Dead and so much more. The most vibrant colors, and lights flashing you've ever seen. Makes you feel like a kid again for a while.

This is a huge arcade but we were there on a Saturday afternoon in July and half of the machines were not working. It was boring and difficult for us to spend our $50 card that we had bought. Owner needs to work on running all the machines once again.

They may have over 100 arcade games but over 50 of them are broken down completely or partially broken. At least the tokens are really cheap and the few that are working are pretty cool, new and rare machines like digital coin pushers and virtual bowling. A few classic multicades for fighting games and the classics. This place could be so much more if they could just keep these machines up, every time I'm at the beach I make sure to go out of my way to come here because of the cool selection but every time

It was a nice thing to do to get out of the heat. Staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, half of the machine were not working so we just played the same few things over and over until we had finished the play card. We ended up with not that many tickets either as the machines did not pay out much. Not really worth the money or time.

A nice arcade with better ticket prizes (and ticket prices) than the other options that are nearby. We stumbled upon a few random things like the bumblebee statue and things that seem to just take up space. I guess that some of it may be related to the pending spring break though. A nice way to wait out the rain with the kids either way.

Awful. Over half the games are broke. This place is badly in need of care. Half machines are off saying broke. And the ones that are on dont work either. Spoke to the lively gentleman up fromt and all he could say was did u try over there and that was it. Came on vacation and haft to say dont waste ur money here

5 STARS and all these stars are for the Rep. I intended to buy only a $20 card but the service and games were great I ended up spending an extra $75. Beautiful arcade and I told the REP I was going to write a long review about him but he insisted I only write about how great the arcade is, he didn't want any credit. We will definitely visit next year and we hope to see you again Jay thank you and thank you Beach Arcade Virginia :-)

It was entertaining for a couple hours. I spotted a Groupon deal and got $50 cards for less than half price. I figured, why not? I knocked off a star because several games we wanted to try were out of order. The staff were nice. We hit several jackpots. That had my daughter all excited. We'd go again. Hopefully some of those games are fixed next time.

Good selection of games for all ages. Open doors allowed for air circulation. One whole section was closed off, which was disappointing. Not very crowded in the middle of the day. Super chill staff though. Would probably visit again and hope the other side is open.

Nothing works, don't purchase a card! Half the machines are broke. The ones still taking credits from your card, don't function properly. Stay clear!

If I could give it a 0, I would rigged claw machines, no restrooms, rude people, broken games, horrible prices, just don't go save your money and please do not go to beach arcade.

The staff was extremely sweet! They made our experience so heartfelt and family oriented! We initially came just to play a few games and April gave a few race cars to our kids to make them feel accepted and at home. This place is so family oriented and I would strongly recommend to come back again!! ??????

Seemed like half the games were broken. Some had signs saying they were being programmed, several took my credits but then didn't work or I couldn't tell if they put any tickets on my account. It was a big disappointment. Definitely recommend walking around to see if the games you want are running before buying credits.

This arcade was a little underwhelming. Most of the games didn't work and the prizes weren't that great to be honest. I think this place would be cool for kids, but not really for adults. This arcade is also quite small, so just keep that in mind when you go. Not sure how the prices were for the game cards, but I wouldn't spend much on one if you get one. Definitely check out the whole arcade first before deciding to purchase a card to play.

My family and I came to visit some family around VA and we stumbled across this arcade. Super nice & friendly staff. Hand sanitizer is provided & masks are enforced. Very nice establishment and fun for the whole family.

My family and I have been to many game rooms like this, and it is by far the worst I have seen. You get higher than usual credits per dollar, but the games are 4 and 8 tickets to play and they are nearly impossible to win. All of the claw machines open up before they reach the top and never pay out. We had one card with 260 credits and ended up with 7 tickets and nothing else to show for it. All of the better games that pay more tickets are conveniently out of order. These places are obviously designed to

It's not the biggest arcade but it definitely got the job done for me and my fiancee I would recommend this place to any one and the stuff is awesome

Actually pretty fun. Yea, some games didn't work, but all in all, we had a blast & it was more affordable than the other VB arcade. Our family enjoyed it.

great arcade. lots of new games and amazing staff. I used work there and it was a great environment. definitely recommend. last time i went i got this big bear

All the games work. Had a good selection. Tickets go to your card so no need to try and hold on to them and no waste of paper. Employees very nice. My card was stolen (by a grown woman right in front of me) and I told them. They were very helpful - I told them my card number and they put my points on to my husband's card. I would definitely go here again

Went there last week with my kid, even though some of the games don't work the nice guy at the counter wasted no time to refund us credits and fixed the game. It's a nice little spot for the kids

The beach arcade is ok!! But we weren't at arcade we were on sidewalk for The Virginia Beach Christmas Parade at the Oceanfront!

Beach Arcade is a true gem along the shore! The vibrant atmosphere and variety of arcade games create an enjoyable and nostalgic experience. The arcade is well-maintained, and the selection of games caters to all ages, ensuring everyone has a fantastic time. The staff is friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall positive vibe. Whether you're a family looking for wholesome fun or a group of friends seeking entertainment, Beach Arcade is the perfect destination.

Watch the machines.. many don't operate the way they claim and many seem to be rigged.

Great atmosphere! Awesome staff and cool birthday party's :)

First the claw machines are worst than most out there. We picked some little things up with claw fully wrapped around went up moved some and fell. Made to fall. Never waste your time unless burning cards out. Most good games are broken. I saw some games have left over credits some don't notice player one side is broken but player two side works like the terminator game. 1st time going they had 3 air hokey tables only one works, last time I went 1 was taken away but still only 1 works. I saw a recent pos

To be fair, I didn't spend a whole lot of time. Just walked in to check it out. I did like the fact that they had Pac Man

The employees here could not be better. Super sweet, attentive and really charismatic. My husband and I enjoyed the arcade so much our first night in VA Beach, we came back. They had a really awesome "power hour" promo where it was unlimited play for an hour (no tickets awarded and no claw machines) the hour flew by we were having so much fun. I definitely recommend stopping by if you are in town and have some time to enjoy yourself.

Took my son here Saturday night while on vacation at Virginia Beach to play a few games, paid $10 for card credits then $20 then we left, Monday evening the charges doubled on my card so it went from $30 to $60. If you're reading this please be aware !

It was hot inside. The machines kept breaking down. A lot of the machines didn't work. The services at the ticket counter finished his text while we stood there waiting for 5 mins. Won't go back.

1 star is too many stars. -80% of the games are broken. -No A/C or moving air of any kind in the place. Really makes you want to continue playing. -Spent $40 for my kids to play the 3 games that actually worked and they turned that into approximately 25 tickets which, no lie, "earned" my son one dum-dum lollipop. The attendant generously gave my 4 year-old daughter a dum-dum as well, so that's a win, I guess. -Do yourself a favor and avoid this dump at all costs.

Wish we would've seen how many games were out of order before putting credits on our card. Games are either out of order completely or it takes your credits and doesn't let you play. And of course there isn't an employee to be seen. Such a disappointment! Do not enter. Waste of time and money!!

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Half the machines were broken and the options for ticketed games were limited. Furthermore, the amount of tickets you got per game was very low, so unless you're staying at VA Beach for a week and spending hundreds of dollars there, forget getting a decent prize. I got 3 pieces of Starburst after the $10 I spent which probably cost 3 cents, if that. What's really sad is that my kids love arcades when we go to the beach, and apart from a motorcycle game, were disa

We enjoyed ourselves. Definitely not over priced you can get a card for 20 bucks and get 100 credit. The guys who worked there hooked us up. We had like 400 close to 500 tickets, so they rounded it up to an even 500. They were very nice and caring to us as customers. Will always stop here when on oceanfront with the kids????

What a waste of money . Most of the games don't work .

Around half of the games are broken and the AC is definitely broken, insanely hot. The e-ticket system is very inconsistent. After $25 I got 15 individually wrapped star bursts for my kid. My advice, do a once around to see if things are working before buying "credits."

Don't waste your time! 0 stars if it was possible. More than half the games are broken completely, missing parts (such as knobs) or "programming", prizes are insanely priced, and the place is overcrowded with machines (working and broken). If you are looking to get quick tickets to buy a small stuffed animal for 1000 tickets, then your best bet is the game where you drop 50 balls into the cups. Don't even attempt the claw machines, rigged so bad the claw never closes on half of them. What a dump!!!!! Wa

This arcade is the cheaper of the 2 we passed, it has a great variety of games and the staff were helpful. Like any arcade you pay more for the prizes than you would normally right out of pocket but that's kind of the point right? As a family we had fun, despite a few games being down. This arcade was worth our 15 block walk vs the other arcade simply for the price.

2024 Edit: Somehow worse? Came back here some years later and staff just doesn't care. Literally have not fixed anything, and the house of the dead machine is broken now :( They act like it's crazy and full of pinball machines but there's literally only one. 50% of the machines are broken. I understand how people mistreat them, but that's just ridiculous. Don't bother. Flipper McCoys is still immensely better. Eh. Broken machines everywhere. People who really don't care working there. Mostly money Grabber

The kids had a decent time. But some of the employees were messing with machines and plugging new stuff up, and unplugged games my son was playing multiple times. Nearly half of the arcade was already out of order as is. But it was a pretty decent stop for some indoor fun after an afternoon at the beach.

Great place my 10 year old loves it!!

Visited here on an impromptu run away trip. I give it 5 stars solely because of the staff. They were incredible. I was gonna do 4, only because a few games we wanted to play were out of order or missing some items needed to play. It is kinda small as well. However, we still improvised easily and had a blast. The staff helped with an issue i had with a game. Oh and groupon has an incredible deal! Whats not to love? Thanks guys for the night, great mood lifter. ??

My daughter's birthday party was held here and it was great! Everyone had a wonderful time. All the staff members were kind and helpful!

The staff was excellent. They were friendly and engaging with my nieces and nephews. The prices are very reasonable and the games were fun and functional, I didn't see any that were out of order.

My family used to love this arcade. But now, half the machines are shut down, and half the ones that are on don't work correctly. Maintenance is a real problem. Also, while I understand that ?skill? games are always rigged, the ones at this arcade are particularly bad. They take money with absolutely no chance of a win.

A nice stop on the strip, fun for the whole family. Took my 3 year old, he liked whack a mole and the ball drop game. We didn't have a ton of tickets, but they had mystery bag options. My little guy made out very well with the mystery bag.

The place is great the staff was super helpful and even was upfront and saving me about 25 bucks what you don't get very often down at the oceanfront along with the fact that it's not as expensive and much cleaner than some of the other arcades down at the beach like flipper McCoys. It's a place that I have before and will continue to feel comfortable taking my five-year-old to have a good time. Thank you to their staff for providing a fun safe and clean environment that people can take their kids dow

Me and my partner love to travel and play arcades wherever we go. So we know a good arcade when we play one. This isn't a good arcade at all. More than half of the machines were broken. We had to continually swipe our cards because the magnetic strip readers suck. The prizes are overvalued for the difficulty of the games. And it's pretty much impossible to earn points on the games. One of my favorite games is the coin shooter game. Well, the Wizard of Oz coin shooter didn't even have any tokens or cards t

It's a nice little break from the boardwalk. People there were nice but a lot of the games were down.

My grandmother brought me here when they were visiting. Most of the games were down and the ones they had running weren't that great. There were a lot of homeless people hanging around too. flipper McCoys is better of your at the beach.

We had a good time at the arcade. We had a Groupon for a $25 card and two of us got to play lots of games. There is a variety of games, including video games, classic video games, ski ball, whack-a-mole, air hockey and others. The air hockey game wasn't blowing air at either end, but it was still playable. It was fun turning in our electronic tickets for a prize, too. The staff were friendly.

We visited Beach Arcade while on a camping trip at the VA Beach KOA with our two kids (7 and 5). We had a wonderful experience. The gentleman who helped us cash in our tickets (I am assuming he and the others behind the counter were owners) was generous and playful with our kids, demonstrating some of the toys they had to choose from and rounding up when they were a little bit short. It was a very clean facility. I would recommend to anyone with kids for sure.

This is my first time going to the beach arcade they had a lot of games but a lot of them was not working like one of their basketball game I used my card on it and the game started but it gave me no ball to play the game with and more games had signs saying still being programmed and some games I couldn't tell if it put tickets on my card or not but the employees were nice I had some fun there and will try again next summer to see if it will be like the last time I went

Awesome staff! Can't wait for the new games to be available!

I would absolutely return to this arcade when revisiting VA Beach due to the fact that the staff was beyond friendly and there was one gentleman (who's name I can't remember) but he was the supervisor I believe and he took very good care of us. He was beyond nice to our kids and ensured they had a great time while playing there. There was also a nice Groupon deal I purchased for $23 that gave you $50 in arcade credit. The arcade is small but good.

Fun stop for all ages while walking down the strip. The whole family had a great time and the service is amazing. Thank you April for introducing my 10 year old to the magic eight ball!

The arcade is divided into two section. At the moment you can only use your card in one side due to some change they're doing. The side we were using had like 10 games out of order. Games would deduct the credit but then not work. The staff was friendly enough and would help resolve the issue but it was an inconvenience with kids to have to go back to the counter. Maybe under normal circumstances it is better but we were disappointed and my children were bored within minutes which is unusual for an arcade.

Had such an amazing time here today! I didn't realize that my game card that I"ve been using for almost 3 years was "outdated" ?? so I totally got the new Shark ?? game card, and did I mention that the staff are phenomenal! Like always, this school teacher cashed in his tickets and won a whole bunch of giant plushies, which are going right into my classroom for my students to enjoy!

Great environment, Amazing staff, so welcoming and loving. Will be back every time we are in VA Beach

OK. We had a good time. A lot of the games were broken. One game took our money, but the attendant was quick to refund us

Took my 5 kids today and the 2 gentlemen that were there were very friendly! The arcade is very clean and we encountered 1 machine that didn't work properly and the guy working the counter immediately came and took care of it. Very satisfied and will return!

It's an arcade, what most would think. Games, we were not happy, seeing the games we wanted to play were out of order. Then after spending 30.00. the game tickets we won were worth only 6 small pieces of candy! But it was exactly what most would think an arcade would be.

Didn't enjoy this spot too crowded ??

My grandson had a good time but it was very costly! There were many games out of order. A little to crowded with COVID around. After spending 70.00 dollars the prizes were very cheap. We only won 1040 credits which was ridiculous for the amount of money spent.

Small and rundown for a beach arcade. The good news is the staff at the counter were great with my son while he was using up his tickets to select a whoopee cushion and Pokemon stuff thing. Overall we had fun and would return but kind of underwhelming when compared to arcades at the Maryland or New Jersey beaches.

One star for the staff, because they are nice as all get up. Negative infinity stars for the actual arcade. Open to the elements. Games are in poor state, and some are broken. They put most of the rejects they can't sell in Sunsations in the claw machines, card readers are loose, games are dirty, some don't work with cards, you need actual quarters, the prizes are outdated. Stay away!

This is our first time in here. There are more games not working than there are games working. You have kids running around trying to find games to play, the ones that work are pretty much to big for the little ones. The middle part of the arcade isn't part of the Beach Arcade so you can't play those games without spending more money. There are games on the other side which isn't even open. Just a disappointment for the kids.

Lots of fun!! Takes me back to being a kid. Plenty of game selection. Biggest downfall is the amount that has to be spent to win something decent, but hey it is an arcade lol Love the convenience of the play card and refill options just swipe and play its all stored on the card.

Most games are broken and it's not that good, Some of the few workers working don't care of the people. We lost a purple blanket so called multiple times, From 3 different numbers and no answer.

4.5 real rating. My 9yr old son had so much fun! We bought a Groupon for $25 worth $50 of credits. So we had 200 credits. Many games are 2-6 credits per play and some are 8 credits like the walking dead crossbow shooting game. There is also a picture booth for 20 credits. Lots of these games are newer but not all were working. To play games buy a card with credits then swipe it in slot to play. There will be a display showing how many credits you have left. All games earn tickets that are saved in the car

We had a groupon, amazing deal! So glad we went. Would go again with or without the groupon. Great environment, inviting decor. All the games were decently priced, worked and were so fun to play! The attendant was very friendly, welcoming and helpful! Prizes were awesome with virginia beach themed ones too!

A few of the games weren't working. The arcade seemed really packed due to the layout. Many of the games were over priced compared to the other arcades in the area. Many of the prizes were toys you could by at a nearby sunsations. They did have a good variety of games and the prize counter employee was very nice. This place is a card based arcade, so you do need to purchase a card to play the games. The card is only a dollar, like many other places.

Supper bummed I got a VB hot deal offer and had my kids who are older go and it was very limited on games not at all what we expected. It was like they are not done with it yet the only reason I give it 3 stars was for the prizes they offer down side you lucky if you can play enough to get anything.

Most of the games don't work :( but at least I really had fun with the Ghosbusters pinball machine and crossy road one ! Got some prices too with the tickets I won ! Hopefully all the machines will be up and running soon !

This was the best arcade at va beach. Not only are the employees absolutely amazing. But we had a blast. They actually have games that pay out, so my kid was abel to actually win something cool. She choose Jerry the stuffed animal. From Tom & jerry...Witch was 3000 points. Way way way better then the other arcades.

Wasn't too crowded and noisy as the other arcade which we liked. Bummer lots games were out of order. Did hit a jackpot though!

Made a quick stop as an activity for our sons birthday. Great selection of games and great customer service. Manager Connor made sure our kids were well taken care of. TY

i do not recommend this arcade to anyone. majority of the machines were down. a lot of the machines would take your money & not let you pay. worst of all, all the ski ball machines were down.

I had lots of fun with my 18 year old son. It was a small arcade located near the beach. We got a Groupon which made it half price. Most of the games were geared towards the younger kids, but we still made it fun! The prizes were the regular little kid ones that most arcades have. Would go again with the Groupon!

This arcade is so fun, I took my family here while we were strolling the boardwalk. My little brothers loved it! The manager, Derek, was super cool and friendly. Kids loved it, great family place, 10/10 will come again.

Great staff, friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. This place is not too big or too small. Great for the kids. And there's a Jamaican food eatery across the mall with good food and good service. I'll be Back.

Half the machines are down. Some that aren't down will accept your money but not actually let you play it. 2 stars cause I won a cool monkey.

Most of the games are working fine, but there were a few they are working on to get up and running. A Great place to enjoy your day

Great little nook with just the right selection of games. Will definitely be back as an alternative to the big expensive places. This place is halfway between the big commercial chain amusement centers and the old fashioned 80's arcades. It's small and personal but the games are modern. It's just right.

Fun place! Would give five stars if not for the amount of games that were down for no reason. Also all of the cards in the wizard of oz coin pusher were in the side that was down.

By far the best place we could find on the strip. The prices were far for the games and you dont feel like you are being taken advantage of. Like most places the prizes were small and cheap. But all the games worked and if you have a problem the employees were quick to help and make it right. We spent both nights there and hours at a time. Highly reccomend you will not be disappointed!!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
