New York, New York 10003
Cool place. Lots of different games, plenty of space, and machines are taken better care of than Salisbury Beach. Kitchen closes at 12am at this place I think so plan according. Splatterhouse is a good game ??
Barcade on St. Marks Place is hands down one of my favorite spots in NYC, especially for a fun date night. As soon as you walk in, you're hit with this amazing retro vibe?classic arcade games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong line the walls, and everything?s in great shape, ready for some friendly competition. The drink menu is impressive too, with a solid lineup of craft beers, unique seasonal brews, and cocktails. The staff is super friendly and quick, even when it's packed, and they really know their stuff w
Holy crap, we had such a good time here. The barkeeps are great, they have a nice beer selection, and the crowd was friendly and just the right size. Was so happy to have access to a fun selection of pinball machines that were well-maintained, whether they were older machines or brand-new ones. If I lived closer, I would be here every night.
Prefer the midtown location. More open space, and seemingly more games. Most arcades token operated...taking 1-2 tokens for most games. Tokens can be purchased from machines throughout the space at 0.25 cents each.. (4/$1, 20/$5...). Service at the bar and front door were good. Our ID's were checked upon entering at 3:30pm. Not sure if this was for all locations, or specfically for downtown as our ID's were NOT checked in midtown earlier that day. Great beer selection. Beer prices were fair (for NYC) at
I have an odd schedule so I'm usually not busy on weekdays. I came here on Tuesday a few weeks ago and st Patrick?s day after the parade and both times I found your amazing bartender Aliyah behind the bar. Genuinely one of the best bartenders I've ever had, Protect at all costs
I've been to all the locations in manhattan and Jersey city one too. I loved all the locations. I come to St.Marks location the most. It has always nice and vibrant atmosphere. I loved their new pinball machines! I like their bar too. It's always a fun place!
Forcing me to throw out my water bottle on a 95 degree day last summer wouldn't change whether or not I will order your alcoholic beverages. It will, however, cause me to walk away and never enter your establishment and warn my friends and family to never come here. So pick your poison. Security is incredibly rude at this location. I recommend the other two Barcade locations.
I've been a few times and it is a fun and exciting atmosphere. If you are a retro gamer, you'll feel at home, and if you come with friends it's even better. Service can be slower during busy hours but overall great experience.
Definitely the oddest barcade experience I've ever had, and I've been to quite a few. I don't want to sound like a Karen, but here's a heads up: if you have an Indiana ID, you might not be allowed in, and the staff may not be particularly kind about it. My friends and I were excited to check this place out. We'd heard good things about the games, but we didn't even make it inside. One friend, who lives in Indiana and has an Indiana ID, was stopped at the door. The bouncer asked for a passport, and when my
Bartenders are superb. SUPERB! Some of the games went from one token to two in the past I guess 2 years or so but always a great time. Great selection. Been part of and seen some catering/events and it always seems worth it. Good for 10 minutes or 3 hours.
Bouncer terribly rude when entering establishment. He asked us ?what the hell are you guys holding the door for? when we held the door open for less than 10 seconds for our party to come in and hand him the ID while hes busy sketching. He asked one of the girls in our party to smile for him and when she didnt he became upset and kicked us out. Definitely not coming back. Thank you to the manager that had to come out and apologies for him having to deal with our attitude but we were really upset the way we w
insanely rude security bouncer. Denied me due to problem with ?CA? IDs, which is definitely on their end not on mine. My entire group is from California and had just graduated college to come here to celebrate - you guys just lost a bunch of service. Thank your bouncer for being kind- will not be returning.
I really love the midtown Barcade but this location was a bit underwhelming. I was here a few weeks ago and all of our food was burnt. My friends and I ordered at two different times during that night and both orders were burnt. Fun selection of video games. The space is smaller than some of the other locations so they make it work with the space. Given the location I was expecting it to be a bit more crowded on a Friday night and was relieved that we were able to get seating. Service was a bit slow but t
This joint is so nice for gamers. Drinks, games and chill atmosphere. They told us they hve many locations around and you can see where and what games they have on the website. This is a true gamers haven. If you love that old school nostalgic gamin experience with that new school drink you are in for a treat! The staff was very nice and informative and we loved the environment during the evening hours.
Spoiler alert, since you step in you gotta deal with racist idiots like the security guy, so, if you're foreigner, better not come here, also, they don't accept passport pic, for some stupid reason, and they won't doubt to make you feel awful. I was looking for a good pinball place and found a disgusting one. So if you're not white and with ID from here, better look for another place.
Cool place to go after work. Many throwback arcade games. The food is good. Big portions and drinks are strong !
Bouncer was really rude. They weren't accepting any California ID?s because ?their system isn't supporting them.? We're all over 21 and his scanner was showing that our IDs were valid. Started yelling and threatening us to leave. Horrible experience.
Would?ve loved this place?great vibe and RK?but the bartenders really ruined it. Not only were they unfriendly, but the tipping system is sketchy. They automatically add a tip without saying anything, and when you tip again, you're double-dipping without realizing it. A beer that should be $10-$11 ends up costing $14-$16, which is just way too much for subpar service. Won't be back unless they fix this scam.
bouncer wouldn't let our group enter because i didn't want to smile for him. he was already rude yelling at our group for holding the door open. the entranceway is tiny and we're a group of 6 people. five which are men and im a woman. his small sensitive ego was hurt because i didn't want to smile when he asked me to? imagine kicking an entire group out because a fragile and delicate bouncer couldn't handle a woman not smiling for him.
They have the love of my life, Jaws pinball, but it needs serious work. Off balance and titled too far forward and weak flippers. Couldn't get the ball up a critical ramp. I know I know... Nerdy complaints, but other machines had the same level of maintenance. Good for a spot to kill a few minutes
This spot is so fun!!! The staff was welcoming and nice as well. The manager gave me some free tokens which was a nice surprise. You can come solo or with a group of friends. The bar is stocked and I saw ppl eating so thats cool too. All the old games are here as well; pacman, mortal combat, frogger. Come get your arcade fix, I will definitely be back!
This is a busy bar and arcade that is frequented by a lot of NYU students. They've got a variety of classic games and pinball machines. It's a neat place, albeit small.
I love this place. Nice selection of beers. Mostly craft, but a good selection. The staff there are awesome as well. Everytime I visit NY, I go there. Plus a ton of awesome restaurants across the street.
I found it weird how many people were mostly nerds lol but my gf and I still went in. The menu is weird and had these different odd names on their drinks but there was one beer that had me done on the first drink lol. At first there were not many people but after being there a couple hours and being tipsy, a lot of people showed up out of no where. They only serve beers which was strange. The games are awesome and is a must go to visit any of these place because they have more around the city of NY.
They have a 3rd Strike that works. Nobody bothered me about buying a drink. They just let me game in peace. I didn't get anything to eat so I don't know about the food. They use tokesn, but otherwise this place is perfect.
I didn't realize WHAT a good time I would have here! $10-20 in tokens can go a LONG way for 2 people, each one is 25c and a machine at most wants 3 per person, mostly 1-2 tokens. I would recommend starting with $5-10 because there are no refunds and arcade games take ENERGY! Drinks are great, the place packs up at night, came in early and enjoyed myself!
It was my first time at Barcade. I never been to a bar where you can drink liquor and play video games. Hence the name Barcade. Drinks are reasonable. Bartender is great. The Burger and Fries I had with my drink tasted awesome! The atmosphere in the place was very friendly. It's a cool place to visit if you're in the city.
It's your Local Visitor Guy Naszy, I went there for first time for my boi secret engagement. When I went out there security all good energy there as soon you walk in there alot of games and if you like to drink, please get a drink. Furthermore, I have more review check out when I go back but so far I enjoyed it and I like it.
Total great time Cute unique date idea Nostalgic gaming opportunity The other location has more gaming options and space yet if you live in the LES it's a quick fun stop by if it's not too packed ! Bring your id of course alcohol is served as we didn't hit the bar but I've had their fries and they were classic bar bites if you're interested! Surprisingly clean bathrooms which is a plus for me
Favorite nyc location is still Chelsea but st. Mark's is still a lot of fun and home to Pacman Battle and Speed Racer which are both super fun. Also strange they have a Street Fighter 1 cab, terrible game of course but pretty rare to actually play it. Great beer selection
Love it! Games are cheap and super fun and varied. Great atmosphere. As of right now, they're requesting vaccination proof.
Bouncer doesn't accept out of state ids and is extremely rude. Would?ve gone in if it wasn't for that degrading experience
This is my favorite downtown bar. Great beer selection, especially during the late-summer and autumn seasons, and incredibly friendly and helpful bartenders. It rarely gets annoyingly crowded, but the indie rock can drown out good conversation.
Love that this place exists, with a good selection of original arcade cabinets from a classic 1980s period including Galaga, Ms Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Bubble Bobble and Outrun. Best of all, most games are only a quarter a go, just like when they first came out! Retro heaven!
Came here for the first time with my friends and it was such a fun experience. There are a ton if different games to play and they're all very cheap when it comes to tokens. Definitely coming back here again soon and try out more games. It does get crowded very quick so best to arrive earlier.
Smug and condescending bartender refused to serve us drinks last night and stated we had to wait another hour before we could order another round of watered down and overpriced lemon drops?? Really weird interaction and have never experienced this before in my life. Wondering if this is establishment policy or discrimination. Horrible location, will not be returning
It was OK. Not what expected. Pretty old arcade games, some throwbacks missing that should be there. Food was good. Service is slightly slow. Very busy for a week day. Drinks were good. Tokens are affordable and so are games. Plenty of gaming for $20 of Tokens. Make sure to have your I.D. no entry without valid ID of 21+.
Boy, did this bring me back to the 80s. Played Frogger, Pinball, etc.....ordered craft beer and fries, service was fast. polite staff, the bathroom was small but so cool with the graffiti. see pics
There's a bartender here that deserves a raise, if he's not already the manager. I came with my boyfriend on Saturday 9/28 around 7:30 pm. He was maybe in his early to mid 30s, tall white guy with the absolute best attitude. The bar was busy so I didn't expect to be noticed right away, he immediately came up to me with the biggest smile and asked what I wanted. It wasn't what he did, but just how he did it. Kind people like this man are the ones that save peoples? lives and don't even know about it. To w
Neat bar to stop in and get some drinks and play old school arcade games and pinball machines. My only gripe was the beer was really overpriced.
So fun. Great place to hang out. Great service and great cocktail. but I had a stomachache after I grab some food here.
Recently went to celebrate my cousins birthday and it is very unlikely that I'll go back . I walked in was greeted by the security who was friendly and that's the only nice thing I can say about my experience. When I went to the bar the bartenders took a period time too assist with seeing if I was ready to order and sure I would need time to think about what I would like . But since bartender 1 was busy entertaining a couple + bartender 2 walked off so bartender #1 did ask me what would i'd like and I aske
after passing this place for years with my little brother before turning 21, i was finally able to take him for his 21st birthday and we had a groovy time! bouncing from The House of the Dead, Super Monkey Ball, Mrs. Pac-man, and the Michael Jackson-IM BAD game(yes mj) we kept feeding $5 bills into the machines haha. drinks are strong like the vibes inside but i will tell you the floors are mad sticky, doesn't stop me from going stupid killing zombies
Classic arcade games from Pac man, Frogger, Galaxy, Terminator, Dig Dug, Street Fighter and more. Must purchase in game store coins first to play.
I visited on a Tuesday night after work just to pass some time and check out the spot as my friends had mentioned it to me before. I had the pleasure of being greeted by a very friendly bartender by the name of Aliyah, I believe she is one of the managers as well. Her service was impeccable! Very on top of things while still being friendly and laid back all still while finding time to make friendly conversation. I will definitely be going back!!
that pink haired girl is the soul reason me and my friends are coming back! insanely dope service and a night to remember.
Love this place for a night out with friends! The bartender, Aliyah, is always freaking great. Honestly one of my favorites, she always takes care of us and makes us want to come back ?? Food is good, but could be better
So many old school 80s fun..but bring your ID. Drinks inside!! It was like going into a time machine. Street fighter, Pac-Man, pinball.
Awesome bar with a good selection of arcade games!
Barcade is my favorite bar in the del marks area, it's great. Stop in for beer, food, or games, as all are really on point. I'm a big fan of the Fry's, and the star wars Ping pong. Other notable games include: Street fighter, marvel vs Capcom, Terminator 2, and killer instinct.
lots of beer options and retro arcade games you can't beat it
Nice place where drink very good beers and have fun with old glories of arcades history. staff super ! thanks
SO GOOD!! All the video games you grew up with and more!!! Good beer and an even better neighborhood! A can't miss spot!
Fun, no frills, dive bar in the east village with old school arcade games. We stopped while we were in town and had some time to kill on a rainy day. Lots of games to choose from and a fun walk down memory lane. Cheap drinks, full bar, lots of beers on tap and bar food available.
My favorite bar in NY. It has a great selection of arcades and great beer.
A simple experience: get a drink, play some arcade games, have fun with friends. If that sounds like a good time to you, visit a Barcade.
The place is a great vibe , lots of different arcade games and the drinks were delicious.Bartender was so attentive and friendly, and she made us feel so welcomed . See you next time Aliyah.
Super place to stop for a drink and some cool arcade gaming!
Very cool bar with a great selection and cool bartenders. A group of "streamers" came in obnoxiously harassing my friends and I and the bartender stood up for me and broke the guys selfie stick. My friends and I all have autism so it was a very scary situation, but the staff were great.
Being a long time gamer I had to come here, I legit did not pay much on food and drinks than I did for the games. It's my dream come true, I miss the arcade scene so to be able to relive my childhood playing arcade games was a treat! For tokens you can insert bills from $5 - $20 and honestly, I think it's fair. I spent a lot on the fighting games as they're my favorite type of video games. I will say, for the machine of Marvel vs Capcom 2; the joystick for player 1 is a little wonky as I couldn't crouch dow
Chain of bars that also doubles as a retro 80's full size arcade, I actually anticipated I would have more fun than I actually experienced, nothing wrong with the place, but I became bored pretty quickly ...
I didn't eat anything, so no rating for food. Staff here are great and friendly. I'm a huge Street Fighter fan, so playing that again was amazing. It's fun, dark, and quite a variety of the classics and pinball.
I actually just had to use bathroom but I got a drink because it's polite. Aliyahwas the bartender. What a gem. She is knowledgeable, friendly, fun, and has a really welcoming smile. The bathroom was spotless. It is clear that the company works hard to provide a clean and safe environment. I was a little surprised that my bag got searched by security when I arrived but I guess that speaks to the bar wanting to keep us safe! Chris also chatted with me and he's a highly skilled and knowledgeable veteran behin
I visited on the night of October 27th. Friendly and welcoming bartender, very affordable priced drinks, and the quesadilla was excellent. The games are reasonably priced and are well kept up.
Great music Great vibes for about half an hour. Not sure about the music though.
If you love retro games you'll like this place. It's a comfortable environment and everyone I've met there has been as friendly as they can come. You buy tokens to use the machines giving you that old school feel; If you're like me and love playing pinball there are tons of machines for that here as well and they're all well maintained
Good place to hang out. Play old retro games and meet new people to get tips on landing major combos in some these games. The Simpsons machine need to fix it's taking coins but not starting and buttons dont work that's why I'm giving this star.
Thank you Barcade at St.Marks for hosting my boyfriend's birthday !!! I surprised him with all 10 of his friends in attendance. The coordinator was straight forward with all the pricing and expectations. Food was very filling, left with lots of leftovers! The best part was the brownies!! Made from scratch and sooooo chocolatey!! Definitely coming back for another night out.
rolled in with a large crew after our staff holiday party and Rick the bartender took such great care of us - we had a fantastic time and everyone on staff was so welcoming. so many fun classic arcade games + great drinks!
Its a nice little spot to enjoy some drinks with friends and also explore with ms. Nostalgia. The bartender was really fast and attentive as well
Rude, huge ego and bad attitude male bartender(and maybe racists). Made ordering drinks extremely unpleasant and unsafe.
I didn't get food during the day time but I was just impressed by the gaming collection and how funny and enjoyable the environment was. From the energy and aura to the bartender Aliyah, she was a funny and energetic person that I just was able to grab a drink and have a laugh from her. She is definitely a good reason on why I would head back there again because of the excellent service with Aliyah!
When looking for a bar to come to as a regular, I look for on that has a great theme, a wide selection of drinks and food, an excellent service. Barcade has hit all of those points with flying colors. The idea of a pub and an arcade in one might sound childish, but this is anything but that with the age minimum and their game selection (which is both diverse and awesome). The selection of drinks is superb and compliments their objective and atmosphere. And finally like the drinks, the games are reasonably p
Its cool, I really liked how theres a spot next to a machine for your drink. My fav game is the zoombie shooting with two players
Haven't tried their food but it does look good. I usually go here once a month after visiting the nearby business. They have a lot of retro games that are fun to try out, my favorite is Streetfighter Third Strike. The controllers for all the games I've tried are very responsive EXCEPT FOR that one machine where you can pick out of a long list of games and you get a short timer to play. I tried to play Super Mario Bros 3 but it was completely unplayable so that was disappointing as I wanted to see how much i
Unfortunately I wouldn't currently recommend this location due to the hostility and overall strangeness of the bouncer who was working 9/24. On previous visits, the beer selection has been solid, bartenders friendly, & of course nostalgic games fun. But my friends & I felt so weird & disrespected that we left right after the aggressive bag search & weird, loud comments from the aforementioned bouncer
Best bartenders around. All of them are fantastic and if you like video games.... this is the place to be. People are friendly and always looking for a player 2. Bonus points since their playlist and beer selection are always fresh and fire too.
Didn't eat here so can't give a review on the food, but I definitely had a great time and they had a fun selection of beer. Played somed games with my buddy and everyone seemed friendly.
Great Lil spot, fun environment, just a Lil dark inside, but otherwise great selection of old arcade games. Had a blast watching friends go at it on old school NBA Jam cabinet!
OK, it's an arcade, not a nightclub. And the Doorman comes off rough because he HAS to; I watched a dozen kids trying to get in without ID. The bartenders are great, the game selection is awesome (pinball!) But {BUT!} whoever coined the ward "dank" had been to ARCADE a few times. Surfaces tend to be sticky.
Will not accept legal id from other countries, so do not come if you are a tourist without a drivers license. We just wanted to play games and have fun.
Great mix of wine and beer. Game selection could be better but is a good night to spend with friends.
Accessibility is better than most bars. There is one low step up to the door and a ramp leading to the main area with a sturdy rail. Enough clearance in the bar and main area for a wheelchair or walker to pass, unobstructed by chairs. The one of two bathrooms I went in (single person with a door, ungendered) was large enough for a wheelchair but did -not- have proper rails. I didn't get to check the other bathroom. Sinks are fairly accessible. There are -no chairs- in the gaming areas. Seating is separate
Despite having worked in the area for years, I went to Barcade for the first time last night. I wish I had gone sooner! The place was very well kept and the games were in great condition. There were plenty of multiplayer games that I could play with my group of friends. Barcade serves mostly beer, but they have some really fantastic options. Plus the food is really delicious.
Security didn't let us in just cause my wife didn't smile back him
This was a surprise to me. I passed this location several times and finally went inside. There are video games from all eras, from 1980s Pac-Man to late 1990s with decent graphics. Even the low res games were fun somehow. And there are several pinball options. For a trip down memory lane or to compete with a friend at pinball, there are options for most people. Bartender service was also prompt.
Went there on a date, not the best option as it was too noisy to hear eachother. The vibe is what you'll expect of an arcade. Don't know much about arcade games but they had a variety of them. And for a first timer, especially at combat games, I had fun when I kept winning ?? but sucked mightily at Mario. Oh, they offer some "special" beer options. Tried a fermented apple and a-bunch-of-other-things one and it was interesting.
I played for about 45 minutes for just 10 bucks! Beer and food is great too and amazing price given the location. Sure to have a good time. Just super crowded during peak hours.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
