I couldn't wait to check this spot out. It was a lot of fun, Hello old school gamers. This place has arcade games, pac-man, pin ball, Mortal kombat, shooting games, and driving games. I didn't try the food since I just went to a restaurant up the street, but the drinks were good, different types of beers, really cool.

Liam and Sophia were absolutely amazing! Came here for a pick me up with my sister and was BLOWN AWAY! Food was outstanding - delectable KISSES TO THE CHEF from this picky eater. This is what bar food is SUPPOSED TO BE We had the wings, tots and a burger every bit was fantastic. Insane selection of craft beer and the cocktails were amazing. Please don't miss out if you're in the area - GO! I will be back! Did I mention the game selection ! Let's say it together V - I - N - T - A - G - E nothing but vintage

Great classic games, great selection of beer, friendly staff!

Randomly came upon this place while walking around New Haven and it is such a gem! So many cool games and unlimited pinball machines. Games were pretty cheap so we ended up staying there for over an hour just playing around. Drinks were good too, though we did end up losing a beer and could not find it. We kept bringing out drinks with us so I don't know if someone ended up snatching it or if any of the staff thought it was unattended because we were too focused on the games lol. Really good atmosphere ever

The selection of classic cabinets from the 1980s, combined with arcade style competitive/cooperative video games, along with individual pinball tables both old and new, creates a setting that is becoming less and less common and more difficult to find as establishments like this continue to shutter. While the food can be a bit messy at times, the staff have always been cool, and the selection of games varies every so often. A good choice for a quick visit alone or with friends, whenever the mood strikes fo

Great nostalgia ! Great classic games but I have to mention how cool the pinball machines were especially the Halloween pinball making it's theme movie music was great ! Good beer on tap, delicious finger foods too.

Can't believe I never wrote a review for Barcade. I moved to New Haven 3 years ago and I've consistently been to Barcade over and over and over again. I've been to multiple barcades in different cities, and this one is my absolute favorite. First of all, the vibes here are fantastic. I love the casual feel of the bar. They have a good selection of pinball and cabinets. Their beer menu is expansive and has something for everyone. Also, the staff all around are some of the friendliest people I've met. And on

Finally visited this Barcade location! What a great place. The ambiance is great - there's plenty of games but also adequate room to hang out without feeling squished into the place. Their beer list was also awesome - a good variety! They also had a non-alcoholic beer (or was it a cider?). Love that! Of course the games were amazing - we had a great time. An unexpected surprise for me was how good their food was! And I think quite a good deal for the price. I have some tokens left over so DEFINITELY will

Great selection of my childhood games. Games aren't expensive with 20 bucks you can play around 1 hour and have so much fun. They also have an amazing variety of beers. I didn't try the food but smelled good. Staff were dope.

Nice relaxed atmosphere. Great if your a gamer or just want some good old fashion fun. I had the mac cheese bite with beer cheese dip it was delicious. Food came in a excellent time [we went on a tuesday Night] The drinks where ok not strong enough for me.staff was friendly. Bathrooms where clean.

Take a quick look at my picture. It's terrible. I moved and took it on a quick whim. Mostly because I was pissed off. This image is like this establishment. I remember coming to this place during launch week. The ambience was awesome and it looked to quickly establish itself as a staple in the community. That all went away a couple nights ago. I won't be coming back here on simple principle. It seems there's no management here, just some employees working a job. It seems the ownership is making some solid m

I enjoy barcade, but I'm writing this review to thank the kind bouncer who was working tonight. He brought me tissues and escorted me back to my car after I had been harassed on the street and felt unsafe. I'm very grateful for him going above and beyond to help.

Really cool place! Incredible nostalgic selection of arcade games and classics. The vibe was friendly and welcoming and the prices to play were really affordable. beer menu was impressive too and they have a huge selection.

Great spot to relax, grab a bite to eat and play some old school games. Pomegranate cider was amazing. Came here on a Monday and there weren't many people

Awesome & unique little joint! Amazing selection of arcade games with some real classics. Brought back some good memories. Good selection of drinks, food was OK & your typical bar fare

The games aren't overpriced like some other barcades I have been to, many only cost a token. There is a good variety of gamesbut not an extreme number of machines I will say. The cocktails and beer selection were surprisingly great. I especially recomend the Rose Blood. There is a hysterical Japanese, 3 player game called Bishi Bashi that was extremely fun full of mini games. Lots of pinball, classics, racing, and fighting games.

Had a blast at this Barcade with my husband and his family for Father's Day. There are so many beers and games to choose from! I really enjoyed playing 4P Pacman. Beers vary in alcohol percentage. I personally love the Abita strawberry. Love the pretty street this bar is on and the big windows that allow you to look out onto it. Also, the staff is awesome! It was super quiet, given that it's a Sunday and a holiday, but I can see it getting really busy on Saturday nights. It's a good thing there's some nice

Cool place to have a drink and play some games. Food is decent.

Amazing selection of beer! Bar snacks where delicious, bartender was friendly and there is SO many games. Have been to 3 bars with this vibe but here blows away everywhere. Absolutely love the old school games!

Awesome local bar with delicious food, great drinks and lots of entertainment. Located on quaint center street with plenty of on street parking, which is free after 5pm. There are plenty of arcade games to enjoy, from asteroids to donkey Kong. There are also several pinball machines as well. The bartender and staff are all very friendly and welcoming adding to your positive experiance. A definite must try!

Between the Buffalo (hot) and the dry ranch wings the cook back there did his/hers Thang. Thinking about becoming a regular just becuse the vibe that comes with the food and the area?????????? and the loaded fries is a always must have when I pop up now

Super fun spot the drinks are strong and the games are fun and the food is amazing especially their chilli dog. 10/10 recommended spots to visit.

I could literally spend all day here! This place is well appointed with all of your favorite arcade and pinball machine that you used to enjoy in the good ole days. All of the arcade shelves look and function just like they did back in the 80's. Action RPG's, side-scrollers, 2D fighting, and of course all the classics. Enjoy a few pints of delicious craft beer, slide a few bucks into the coin machine and just have a fun sophisticated afternoon or night out. Please open more locations soon! I miss it already

Great selection at the bar, great food and lots of old favorite arcade games

Went at 5pm on Saturday with a group of 10 including 2 kids, about 5-10 people inside, told that it's 21+ and that we should have checked the website. Nothing on the website that I can find

I don't get how my gf only bought one drink there May 12th and she just now May 23rd, got 3 charges to her account almost $60.

The food is amazing, I'm celiac and I promise you that the gluten free food is Delicious! Also great prices!

Wasn't there to party or anything not my scene never been inside pickup a friend, damm them kids wear absolutely nothing parading downtown

Can't speak to the bar since I don't drink, but the Pinball here is hit and miss. The machines are in very good condition, but are pay to play, and are somewhat expensive. The White Water machine also reset on me twice due to an error. Other than that it's the best condition White Water I've seen. I wouldn't come here specifically for pinball, but the other arcade machines seem solid and well maintained. Atmosphere is pretty great, if a little loud for my taste.

Reasonable drinks great game selection most games were in great shape

Really cool place with friendly staff. The food was so good, and the beers available means everyone will have some they will enjoy. The games are a great throwback and would definitely recommend spending at least an hour going through some old favourites

yo this burger was nasty fr? but the pretzel dippers? mmmm? to die for. also they dont have skeeball weird af for an arcade!

Great staff, AMAZING beer selection, and so many classic games and more recent favorites! My fav has got to be the Turbo Ms Pac Man. Joust, Tapper, Asteroids..... oh, and the music is on point as a great mix of 80s, 90s, and modern tracks from goth, to shoegaze, to punk, to rock.

Fun place. Great selection of old school arcade games. Great selection of beer.

not worth it and small inside . Not many games . Bathroom had tons of graffiti and dirty .

An outpost of the Barcades in NYC, it has a good selection of craft beers. The burger was very good with a tasty bun, but had the smallest side salad of just arugula. Avoid the pickled hop shoots...they themselves are tasty enough, but are not served on a bed of veggies as the menu indicates (see pic) and are mostly just dripping in pickle juice.

Food is fire; love the buffalo chicken tenders and the PB & J chicken sandwich, as well as specialty glizzies ?? and fries ?? out of this world; great beers ?? and actually great cocktails ?? despite it not being a craft cocktail bar like others in NH; games are fun of course; patrons are chill and good natured, which tbh is hard to come by; amazing staff?they are CRANKING when it's busy and do a great job; ?? Barcade

Video games delicious beer and tasty snacks, 90s babies best hang out

Nice selection of beers and fun games. Great playlist as well.

Awesome place to hang out with a big group of friends! I've gone multiple times, and each time the games, food, and drinks were great. The tater tots are awesome, and they always have a variety of beers on tap. Fun to go with a big group so that people can branch off and play games but come together for food, but it also seems like a great place to have fun alone. Would highly recommend!

If your a gamer this low key spot is the place to be stopped by on my birthday had a blast playing the old school games definitely brought me back enjoyed myself with few friends.

Great vibes and drinks. If you're into co-op games I'd check out the Japanese game The BishBashi for sure ??

Lots of fun, great place for a birthday party or meet up.

This place goes back to my childhood with some of the nostalgic games they have. Beer tap list is awesome changes daily food is good too. All and all a great place to chill, hang and have a good night out

Super fun! Staff was quick and friendly, we mostly were served by Ryan behind the bar. Prices were really awesome as well. Most of the drinks are around $9 which is unheard of in New Haven lol. We were worried the games were gonna cost a lot of tokens but they are all between 1-4 tokens and you get a TON of tokens for $20. Games were fun and all in working order. I appreciated the little wooden tables next to all of them to hold your drink. Can't wait to come back!

Amazing spot. Great staff and wild games. Got to play Joust for 1 token!!! Street Fighter II was only 2 tokens!!! Perfect place and the food is great also. New menu items were hitting last night while I was there. Go now and tip generously!

THE FRENCH ONIONE BURGER is the best burger I've ever had in my life! The seasoning is top notch. The atmosphere is awesome very welcoming and the service is very attentive! Best burgers honestly I travel 35+mins just for the food!

Barcade is exactly what the name implies, an arcade with a full bar. They also serve bar/pub style food. Fun place to pop in and play some arcade games. We like that they focus more on retro/antique games from the 80s and 90s like Frogger, Mappy, Mrs. Pacman, and plenty of pinball machines. Games are token-operated and you can buy tokens starting at $1 for 4. Craft beer selection is pretty extensive. Ample paid street parking.

Barcade is an awesome spot for anyone in the area looking for a more entertaining bar experience. On the bar side of things, they have a great beer selection and the mix drinks we got were made really well. They offered snacks as well which looked very good. As for their main attraction, the selection of arcade games is pretty widely varied, and I would say they probably have at least 1 game to suit most people's interests. The general atmosphere was nice as well with great music and a relatively laid back

The burgers with tots are absolutely amazing!! Drinks are fire and the games are all super fun! I love bringing friends there and I had an amazing date night there with my girl! This is definitely a great spot to go for some fun in New Haven especially if you love burgers!! The cheeseburger is to die for!

Fun games, fast bar service and clean restrooms.

This is a fun retro place to go for drinks and nostalgia. It was one of the first places I visited when I first moved here. It's small and you don't always get to play all the games you want but is very fun none the less. The selection of beer, cider, and more is very good as well. The bartenders are busy a lot but always nice and accommodating.

Greg was awesome. great vibes, good drinks, and fun games!

Awesome place! New and old pinball machines. The 4 player Pac-Man is really cool.

Food is great, the drinks are awesome, and the bartenders are some of the friendliest I've ever met

Great place to hang with friends, even if you don't drink. The beer selection is fantastic and the food is amazing. Definitely a place worth checking out. My compliments to whoever picks the beer and whoever makes the menu. The bartenders are friendly and helpful. I can't say enough positive things about this place. 11/10 stars

awesome spot would love to see more games though.

Barcade a great an safe night out with friends or date night! Food was surprisingly well done! Five guy style fries but on the healthier side! Not so salty an the fried chicken sandwich had a great crunch an flavor to it! Great pickles as well! Start a tab by taking card an ID! Can order tokens at the bar an have it go on the tab! Real easy access to have fun! Notice the coat hooks all around the bar. Leave the coat, have pockets or a cute purse an enjoy your night out! Most games are two player at a tim

Went there for the first time for a friends Birthday. Bartender was nice, manager was a little jumpy, but we had a good time thanx to the bartender!!!!

A pretty chill place. Staff was friendly, and there was a neat selection of games. Would've been five stars, but the only Ninja Turtles game there was the original, not Turtles in Time.

My second time visiting. First time I went was for a friends birthday party and it was really fun. The music was great, atmosphere was friendly and there's a great pizza place around the corner that we went to with huge slices, very good. I noticed this visit that they removed two large tables that used to be towards the center of the bar and replaced them with more arcade games though. I mean, having a wide selection is great but the lack of seating is kind of annoying, especially if the place is packed.

Friends and I came here at 1:30am for a last drink. After we all paid, they proceeded to try and throw us almost immediately (before 2am). I told them to chill out, since I just ordered a beer and planned to finish it before closing, and that I (jokingly) didn't want to rush and get alcohol poisoning at 1:50am. The bartender took the final third of my beer away from me and told me to get out. I've been going to bars for 20+ years and I have NEVER seen anyone so gung-ho to close up by 2am that they took my p

New beer list every night, I love the ciders. Not too crowded, Fun games & awesome bathroom graffiti!

Saturday evening around 6pm was our first time at Barcade. There were three of us and we sat at the bar. There were not many people there at this time but as the evening went on, more people arrived but it was never crowded or uncomfortable. The food selection is not extensive but there is something for everyone and all three of our meals were excellent - way better than expected. The bartender was knowledgable about the beer selection and offered us tastes which was nice. The games are old-school and

Good beer selection and snacks. The game selection is pretty decent with some light rotation, but the machines could be maintained better. Lots of barely working joysticks and eaten tokens. Pinball machines always seem to be in good shape, though. Still a good place to spend a night.

From classic arcade cabinets to Stern pinball tables, bucket seat racing games and standing shoot em' up games! There's so many games to play here, on top of actually having both a bar and food options, it feels like you have the best of so many worlds here! Everything's reasonably priced, the games are well maintained, decent music choice, and the venue is in a great location that's easily within walking distance to many other downtown spots! I'll definitely keep coming back, even just for the games!

This was the exact place we were hoping for. Lots of different games to play. The pinball is hard with most of them not level. We stayed for a bite and the food was great. What we kept noticing was people not tipping the two bartenders. There was just two bartenders and a bar back working hard to keep drinks up, the place clean of random glasses and running out food. Tip your bartenders and servers, they are working hard to make sure you have a good experience! If we are in the area, we will be back!

Old-school arcade games at a very affordable price! You can have fun with there rotating selection of pinball to pacman to King Kong games and many more! And there's a bar if you'd appreciate a drink or few! Absolutely love this place. Highly recommend!!

It's crazy that there aren't more of these around! Maybe I'm just dating myself by loving this atmosphere...but totally chill place and lots of fun with the old school games and some great drinks!

This place is pretty great. Awesome beer selection, the food is delicious. I have had the fish tacos on a couple of occasions and loved them. They also have a taco Tuesday after 4pm where they have dollar tacos And drink specials. The bartenders are awesome. Also, They have about 60 different arcade games and 5 or 6 pinball machines. It's a total game geek Mecca. (Barcaide... get it?)

Great selection of retro games and a stockpile of beer on tap! Food choices went beyond standard bar food and tasted great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Games were priced perfectly. Personally I would have liked to see some more arcade games from the early 90's but that's just me!

Fun, but imo a bit pricey. The craft selection is nice, but the allure fades quickly as the check stacks up on pricey 10oz pours and 50 cent machines. I'd really like to see more value here such as some cheaper beer and a few free tokens for those of us who don't want to drop $60+ in one night for beer and games. Also, if you end a promotion, please replace it with something else or black it out on your menus until the next update!

Had a blast. I didn't drink while my friends and I were there, but the bar looked like it had a decent selection. They have a lot of older games and some newer ones, so there's something for everyone.

I love this place!! An arcade for adults!! It's like I'm a kid again but at the same time still an adult since I get to play my retro games with a beer in hand. The food is pretty amazing as well. Love the graffiti in the bathroom and the stalls. Can't wait to go here again with a group!

Super cool spot, tucked away from the main street. They have an amazing collection of retro arcade games, enough for hours and hours of nostalgia. Their beer knowledge and selection is superb, and their food is pretty good! Definitely worth a trip for any gamers with a love for the good ole days!

Been to similar bars before. This one had a good beer selection and decent service. The games are from the 80s/Atari era, which is nostalgic, but I don't see myself feeding quarters to play Galaga for the 8,000th time. They did have Bishi Bashi though and that was fun.

Great place to have a beer and relive your childhood. They have a very nice selection of taps that they change regularly with a nice bonus of having a casked beer as well. The food isn't fantastic, but let's face it, you don't come here for the food - you come for the arcade games!! Lots of old favorites, plus some (newly added) pinball machines.

Two things I love, beer and videogames, and this place delivers both. Place is clean, games are well maintained, and the atmosphere is gastro pub meets nerd chic. Staff is very nice, they have a good selection of local and domestic brews, and the food is creative and tasty. Of note, the games are token only. There is a cash exchange machine, but it's cash only. An ATM is available but 2$ charge to use it. I would make sure you bring loose bills so you don't get stuck with the charge. All and all, amazing pl

Medium sized bar with a bunch of older style arcade games. Games arent unreasonable and drinks were great

Friendly staff, great beer selection, and Taco Tuesday special or $1.00 Tacos makes for a fun time. The beer selection is great from 20+ Taps. You can sample beers you want to try or read the nice descriptions. The staff is very friendly and the three bite tacos of your choice of chicken, beef, or pork are delicious. The games are video ones and not mechanical, and have some multiple player ones to play with friends.

Fantastic place. I've become a ?regular?. 1-2 times a week. Wonderful way to spend a few hours from reality. Great selection of beers, food is delicious, staff (Denisha, Jeff, Ryan and Alison) is friendlyand accommodating. Video and pinball games selection is great!

Really nice place to meet up with people. The arcade format really differentiates this from pretty much any bar I've been to. The prices for playing are very reasonable too (unlike Dave and Buster's, which can get expensive very quickly). I would definitely recommend Barcade to anyone looking for a good time.

i've been to Barcade several times now and it's always a great experience. they have an excellent & diverse selection of games to play. the pricing is very reasonable - games are only 1-3 tokens each ($.25-$.75). just exchange your bills for tokens and have fun! i'm not much of a beer drinker myself, but i always go with friends who are, and they love the unique selection of beer on tap. i like the rainbow islands cocktail. i haven't explored much of the food menu yet, but i enjoyed the soft pretzel and my

Great assortment of games new and old, ranging from 25? to $1 to play. Much more affordable than similar modern arcade restaurants that use a swipe card system. Good beer selection.

Great atmosphere, great variety of drinks, not badly priced. Even if you're not that into the games this seems like a great place to hang out or meet up with friends. The games themselves were largely 25 or 50 cents each. A good mix of classics and favorites, the majority (id say 75%) appear to be from the 80s/ very early 90s. Only a handful from late 90s/00s.

Great Beer selection in games are really funny. Staff is also really nice when the machines eat your coins they'll help you out and give you more coins. Or when you're one coin short and the pacman machine is about to start without your friend joining. Love coming here.

My grown up kids took me to the New Haven Barcade on Father's Day. What a blast! They bought $20 bucks of tokens and the three of us played for hours! I highly recommend the Mayflower Porter. It was yummy. Music they played was good. And they have food, too. Awesome. Gave 4 stars because many of the pinball machines were unplayable due to not being setup properly - too steep, or not level. But I nearly gave myself tendonitis playing so long the good ones!

Excellent beer menu with a wide range of styles and flavor profiles. Video games are so much fun...I was a kid again. Food was okay. The fries were the standout item that I tried. I would go again for the beers and games.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pinball tables still good in this modern age?

Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
