This is one of those places you hang out with your buddies and have a great time playing classic arcade with your favorite drink. Their drinks menu is rich, and beer options are ample. If you're one of the arcade lovers, you're gonna love this place. What deserves a special mention? Their classic game collection is rich and the vibe is retro. What could be better? Their service and hygiene standards.
I absolutely love this bar! Every time I come to nyc it is a must. The games are so fun an inexpensive. The drinks are always great! The bartenders are THE BEST, especially the two Joes. I go to nyc maybe 3 times a year, but they always remeber me and my bf and they hook us up every time! We were just here this past Feb. for a concert and had Joe as our bartender and he is such a nice guy. I love all locations but the Brooklyn one holds a special place in my heart. Thanks for always being so great! Any time
I came in just to enjoy some alone time gaming and the bartenders took extreme care of me. Probably the best bartender service I've had in all of NYC in a hot minute. I didn't get the name of my first bartender but my second bartender, Joe, was the GOAT! Super sweet, attentive, communicative, the whole nine yards. Incredibly impressed! The game selection was great too. I feel like so much a has changed since the last time I was here about 8-10 years ago. They really dusted off their shoulders and really i
Brought a crew there after a show in the area. I love barcade. This is the second one I've been too. The one in Philadelphia is bigger and has a kitchen. So the philly one is superior. Would still go to this one if I'm in the area
Maddie is hands down one of the best bartenders I've ever met. Not only did she make great drinks, but she also gave some of the most genuine, thoughtful life advice I've heard in a long time. It felt like talking to a friend who actually listens and cares. She brought good energy, made everyone feel welcome, and really helped turn my night around. Barcade is lucky to have someone like her behind the bar.
Super great experience from the moment we walked in. Bouncer was super cool. Music was perfect, drinks on point and all the fun nostalgic games! We will definitely be back.
I had an absolutely terrible experience at this bar. From the moment I approached the bartender to order a drink, I was met with outright hostility. The bartender was not only extremely rude but also displayed aggressive and racist behavior toward me, completely unprovoked. When I attempted to place my order, I was literally yelled at. Concerned for my safety and dignity, I had to involve security to de-escalate the situation and bring management into the matter. Unfortunately, the manager was no better?un
Barcade is always a great time. Great selection of games. They have Crazy Taxi there which I'm not gonna lie, almost made me cry because I grew up on that game. The pinball machines are great, I wish they didn't cost 3 tokens though. They have ATMs there to pull out cash to exchange into tokens. The drinks are great and reasonably priced. Great place to hang out and play some games
Fun barcade to get a drink and play some cool retro arcade games & pinball machines.
Awesome bar with a great collection of old school cabinets. I've got all these games at home. I've got a full assortment of liquor at home too. So why am I here? The draw of a recreation of the old school arcade experience, which is rapidly disappearing sadly. Will a younger crowd that grew up before the arcade heydey of the 80s and 90s enjoy it as much? This old man can't tell you, you'll have to find out for yourself.
Good amount of vintage arcade games especially shooting and pinball. I easily spent 1.5hrs by myself with $10 in tokens. Games are at least 50c a play. Definitely try Quick & Crash or BishiBashi with friends. Make sure to bring cash.
I haven't tried the food, and the atmosphere would have been better for me if I was able to hear myself think or even speak, the music was just too loud for me. Other wise it's a cool place to go if you don't mind the loud music ?? and don't go on the weekend if you don't want to be in a crowded bar.
Drink prices are decent. Games are fun but sometimes eat coins (staff will help you if so). Music seemed extra loud, tough to sit and chat.
Friendly and fun. NBA jam ate two tokens. So I ate the Mavericks.
Good spot to relax, have fun and play some classic arcade games! Drinks are descent, more of a pub vibe of course. Always a good spot for friends or a date.
Barcade is cool. Decent selection of beers and other drinks available. They have snacks, but no kitchen. So there's not much food. However, they have a cool atmosphere with a bunch of classic arcade games. I apparently suck epically at Asteroid, but I got 3rd place on the high scores for Tetris. So, at least I have that going for me, which is nice. If you want a cool place to hang out and have some fun, this is a great option.
This bar takes you back to the 80s-90s. Not sure how long they would survive as the new generation don't really appreciate the arcades. But I would do anything to keep this place running forever. The collection of beer is great. I love Brooklyn!
I'm so glad I found this place! Great selection of retro arcade games (especially the pinball), fun people, incredibly friendly staff, good food and drinks, everything!! My only note for improvement is the loud music. I have to SCREAM at the person next to me just to even try and hear them (PLEASE LOWER THE VOLUME). Other than that, definitely one of my go to spots for fun.
WAY too loud. This place would be great, but they insist on blasting the music. You have to yell to hear other people in here. I started wearing earplugs whenever I come, which is ridiculous that it's necessary. You can have music, just turn it down to a reasonable level! Many people complain about this and yet nothing is done - please listen to your customers.
This place brings me back to my childhood. It has an awesome 80s vibe complete with old school arcades such as Mortal Kombat, Pac-man and Centipede, etc. The pinball games were super cool. It's an awesome place to catch up with friends if you want to have some drinks and some fun. Keep in mind that this bar doesn't serve food, but does have small snacks in a bag you can purchase at the bar. Their drinks kicks a punch though with a friendly bartender. Definitely will return to this place for more vintage fun
(Nov 2014) Love it Love Love it! Big open warehouse lined with old skool video games (late 80?s latest?). I'm very excited.....I just spotted Ghost & Goblins. 28 taps, all US and good variety. Lower abv stuff about $7 a pint. Would love to bring my 6yr and 5yr here...just to show them what real video games are like. Glad I made the effort to come.
What a fun place. My wife and I (gen X?) arrived and we were carded at the door. We had a laugh with the guy, since we're a couple grey haired 50 year-olds getting ID?d. We had a beer from an awesome selection. There are token machines to get your bills into tokens, and then we played video games. Galaga, Donkey Kong, PAC Man and others. We had a blast. Chill vibe, great staff, and the best video games. Highly recommend!
My new favorite bar in Williamsburg, especially for date night. My boyfriend and I were so excited to try out Barcade after it recently reopened post-COVID. Inside were a number of retro arcade games and a full service bar with a number of beers and ciders on tap, not to mention specialty cocktails and a wine selection. Essentially, there are machines inside to give you tokens. We opted for about 40 tokens and had fun for a solid hour and a half at $10. You really can't beat that price AND we laughed so ha
Great staff, large variety of beer on tap, good variety of liquor. Awesome variety of games, especially pool tables. It got crowded, but there were still open machines.
Love the idea of a bar and arcade. Games are varied and cost 50 cents to play most of them. Only reason the place is not higher for me is that the beer selection just wasn't it for me. Great concept though
The people here are great, the games are old-school and fun. I lost my phone and someone returned it to me when they noticed I was looking for it! Was so grateful. Good crowd of people, I'll be back
Had loads of fun here. They have a great selection of 80's and 90's arcade games. I liked the high scoring chalkboard. Arcades are paid with tokens. The beers are very good! We conquered Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ??
Awesome verity of drinks and games. All your classics are here especially street fighters turbo. The drinks are to die for. The springsdale spritz with its fruity taste and the Victory Berry Monkey with its delicious sour taste make the night. Bar tenders are awesome and gave good recommendations will come again
Had a fantastic first-time experience at this location. I brought my dad here to celebrate his birthday and he loved it. Classic games and pinball machines that he grew up on, as well as games I loved as a kid. $20 in tokens nearly gets you at least 1-2 plays (or more) on everything they have. The bartender (dude with the long hair)is super nice and accommodating. Overall great time! Highly RECOMMENDED!!
Great and friendly service! Good and well upkept games. Really nice welcome and Great service with a smile! Would recommend for sure!
Super super fun, good drinks and decent food prices. Only complaint was the size of the bar. Some of the games are in a corner which makes it hard to get to or get out of once done. Will recommend.
A great vibe and good music. Quality beers that are affordable. And the games are great!! The space is a little small but it's a good time. Definitely grab a drink and play some games!
Games are usually in good working order, beer is great and so is the service
It is hard to believe seeing so many original videogame classics in one place. You can play asteroids, donkey kong, arkanoid or galaga for 25c! Some other games and flippers are 50 or 75.
chill games, they added some non alc and vegan options recently which bumps them to 5 stars for me. i wish they had skee ball though!
Great place, great staff, great games but the music is usually waaaay too loud! Help a fella out, i can't hear a damn word I'M saying
Arguably the best bar in brooklyn. Beer list is too long to taste everything, atmosphere is great, but the best thing is bartenders - you guys are awesome!
One of my favorite spots in North Brooklyn - always great and extensive beer selection and tons of 80s video games, still just a quarter!
Fun little spot! My boyfriend and I go here when we visit from NC to get away from family and it's the perfect setting to chill out and play some old school video games! Drinks are good, bartenders are nice and they offer bagged snacks as well.
I've been coming here for a long time, and I always have an exceptionally wonderful time. The staff are some of my favorite people in general, absolutely fantastic people. The game selection is a blast, and the drinks are great. My only complaint (and I had to really really think about this), is that the music has been increasingly unnecessarily loud (I find it hard to hear what my friends sitting next to me are saying). Otherwise my experience is perfect (and Pinty is my best friend)!
Pretty busy spot, loved It for the games and the wide range of beers available.
Don't go on the Budweiser game, because it's my favorite! This place is awesome and feel lucky it's in the neighborhood
Out for a night of drinks and fun, we decided to stop by Barcade. Loved the atmosphere. Decent drink prices, and of course, the games. It was fairly packed, but it wasn't usually a long wait to get into a game.
~40 retro arcade games and a good selection of craft beer on tap. A must-go for everyone born in the 80s. Can get very busy so avoid peak hours.
Great atmosphere, affordable drinks, and friendly staff! The selection of games is amazing, I lost my husband for a good while and watched his nerd face light up as he slid tokens in several old school arcade games. The door man was friendly and social, 5he bar staff efficient! Cant wait to come back!
Excellent beer selection, crowd, games, and staff (best bouncers and by far the best bartenders, bar none). I've been coming here for about a decade, meeting up with friends and regulars several times a week; always super fun. Recently, the music has been far too loud though. I come often to play games, but also to converse. It sometimes gives me a headache or I'll leave the bar with my throat hurting from having to shout for a few hours to have a conversation. At times, it's _that_ loud.
If you love beer and you love video games then this is a sick spot to check out. They have all the old school games and its inexpensive to get tokens to go and play.
LOVE ???? THIS ???? PLACE ???? Barcade is a straight up iconic institution. I've been going to this location for over 6 years and Barcade (Williamsburg) has a fantastic layout with the most lovely staff. The bartenders are always helpful and fast, and the game selection is to die for. It's crowded on Friday & Saturday nights, but rightfully so for creating a space that provides such a wonderful outing.
I adore Barcade; it's a fantastic place to unwind and have some fun late at night. The service is quite satisfactory, ensuring you always get a great drink. The bartenders tend to pour generously, so if you have a lower tolerance, one or two drinks should suffice while you enjoy the classic arcade games. I particularly enjoy visiting after a nice dinner or an evening of dancing. It's a relaxed venue with friendly folks.
It's a great place to spend time with friends. They have bunch of games like other barcade locations but they also have Gundam game unlike others. It was very fun and i?d love to visit again soon??
This place is so dive-y and humble. The games are reasonably priced and the beers on tap are plentiful. It's a chill place to get your game on with friends. The pinball machines are sometimes under repair, but other than that point, this place is a favorite.
The manager had got the security to kick me and my boyfriend out for no reason discrimination and it was embarrassing because we was the only black couple I would never tell nobody to go there .
Always have loved the concept and this place did not disappoint. Kinda bummed it was not free play as other places I've been. I would?ve spent some more time there.
It's a good place in a very good location. One issue I'd say is the arcades could have had more time per token range, would hold the crowd in and make it even more lively. I'm saying that cause Some places have full on free arcades with drinks in the neighborhood, so good competition is there ????
Great experience. They have an awesome selection of beers on tap, and a great selection of retro games. The games range in price from one token ($.25) to 3 tokens ($.75). My partner and I went there and with $20 between us for games, spent like over 5 hours there (by the end it was us just wasting tokens on the more expensive games, because there are no refunds on tokens).
First time coming back to barcade Brooklyn since before the pandemic. Still enjoy my time there as I did before. As rules go (for now) limited number of people to inside at once and drinks must be kept at tables an not at games. Photo is straight Bluecoat gin with ice water om the side.
It was so retro. It's like a time machine seeing all of those arcade games that used to be in almost every story, back when I was growing up.
Dive bar feel, lots of old school arcades, get a lot of tokens for your money! The drinks are creative and strong, and the staff is the best! This is my new hang out spot
Just a cool space where you can have lots of fun for little money. We went on a Thursday and could play anything we want, no waiting.
I love you guys! You are the best! But please turn down the volume. I can't order proper any longer. Even if I am there earlier I can barely hear a game(that is part of the fun). Please for everyone?s ears let's have a bar not a concert hall volume place. Volume to back to regular levels. Thank you.
Chain bar with arcade games. Checks all the boxes with classic games and good pinball selections. It's weird how a place like this could seem corporate, but it doesn't seem to have any real soul to it. Loved the craft beer selection, but if they wanted to go authentic. Needed to pump in cigarette smoke and make the floors sticky to capture the 80s correctly. Maybe a random 3$ beers would seal the deal.
Very rude and ignorant security guy who's familiar with USA vaccination cards only!! Needed Manager?s opinion on my Pfizer vaccine which I got abroad and literally pushed me to the side while attending new customers. Once I took my ID back from his hand he recognized me as rude and told that to a Manager, who didn't want to share his name, but just started his shift around 7pm, today 9/18/21, ?will go with what his security guy concluded? and said ?doesn't want my business there?. No explanation given. Just
It's always a great place for beer and great old-school video games
Really fun spot! Excellent drink selection and the bartender is a total sweetie :)) my favorite game is crazy taxi!!!
Amazing bar with the best bartenders, and a ton of fun arcade games! Can get very crowded on the weekend, but that's to be expected. I also respect that they're environmentally conscious (no cans, only drafts, and they are fully wind-powered). Don't sleep on the picklebacks, they're delicious!
Great rotating selection of beers, good bar food, super friendly service! You can currently play games inside, they monitor the capacity to keep everyone safe.
I love Barcade! I love video games and I love beer, what could be better than combining the two?! Their beer selection on draft is massive, about 20 different beers and all craft.
The first time here brings back memories of the arcade game. I will definitely come back
This place is amazing! They have a good rotating selection of beers, arcade games and pinball machines. Highly recommended!
Why does it have to be so loud? An otherwise amazing experience made frustrating by the noise level. Service was perfect (when they could hear me) and the games were on point but I had to yell through a nearly impenetrable wall of sound the entire night. Ringing ears and a raspy voice has me hesitant to visit again.
Above average classic arcade games, 90s arcades needed work some, limted pinball selection with all machines needing some tweaking and attention.
If you love video games and are over 21 this is the spot. You must have a valid ID, they do not accept NYCID I've tried. Perfect place for a first date or group of friends as they have plenty of games to play. If you want to get to play till you're bored weekdays and Sunday nights it's your best bet as Saturday is packed with people.
Lots of cool games, tmnt. Metal slug, indiaba jones bartender was really sweet. Cool drinks too I had the Apple cider beer
So fun and the bartenders were so nice and great! We loved Joe and Garrett!! The blonde bar back was pretty mean and dismissive to us, I think she misheard what I said but it did not warrant her rude response. I hope she has a better night and learns to not take her anger out on others. If you avoid her the bar is AMAZING!! ??
Great place. It's like stepping back in time. A good selection of arcade classics. Good bar set-up as well.
Going back soon ! Love the atmosphere and the drinks are good . The staff is very nice and I will be returning for another great time with friends
Had such a blast catching up with old friends here. Even though my friends were never big gamers, we all had a great time going around playing each game and sipping some tasty brews
Funny place with lots of arcade machines. Amazing to go back to 80s with a nice craft beer!
I come here to play pinball every week, and each week the volume is so unbearably loud that we can't hear people right next to us, and you can't hear the games you're playing. I've loved playing here the last few years but i don't think I will come back anymore. It feels almost hostile to be in somewhere so loud.
Had so much fun playing my favorite retro games with a drink in hand. Will definitely come back!
Fun games but awful service. A bartender came out from the back room and stood in front of where we were sitting, as we waiting for our order to be taken and ignored us to start cutting limes. She did not acknowledge us in any way and it didn't help that she was blocking the other bartender's view of the bar section we were at for the other bartenders to help us.
Great place. It's also a great place to chat with random ppl.
Great cocktails! The cucumber mint gimlet was perfectly crafted. The bartender was very friendly and helpful explaining the drinks. Great service! Highly recommend :)
THE Barcade! Great beer selection and arcades are maintained! Wish they had a burger time arcade but many classics are here!
The beer geek in me loves the wide beer selection at Barcade. The game geek in me loves the on point selection of 80s and 90s coin op games at Barcade. I guess what I'm saying is I love this place! I visited on a Saturday afternoon with friends and spent a good couple of hours revisiting some classic games (Galaga, Missle Command), some genre defining games (Daytona, Final Fight, Street Fighter II) and discovering some future classic brews.
Great atmosphere and drinks. I love the selection of arcade cabinets it has something for everyone. My favorite is definitely the Godzilla pinball machine.
Great place to chill, have a drink and some classic arcade games.
Amazing experience. Great drinks. Cool old school games. Can't go wrong.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
