Customer Reviews

Gonna say this place is wonderful. Two levels of gaming & arcade space for friends & family. Kid friendly for those with littles.

This is our favorite place to visit as a family. It has games we all love, one kid loves classic pinball while the other likes console games. The place feels endless and huge. Compared to the downtown pinball museum it is a bargain. I tell all of our friends visiting town to bring their kids here. It's an amazing place and an even better value for the entry fee.

This place is so fun! You can get some great drinks (non-alcoholic too) and enjoy a lot of fun games. It's a chill, laid back atmosphere for adults and kids. Just a great place to have a good time.

This place is amazing! Not only is it affordable, so are the food and drinks. My kids had a blast here and I will definitely be taking them back!

Aaron at the front was a gem, bar tender was also on point! (didnt get his name) love the atmosphere and variety of games, though the DDR machine is wayy too low volume. I understand wanting to keep the main music playing louder but has to be turned up a bit almost impossible to play! Hopefully when i come back the owner will allow for the machine to be turned up a bit. The main bar music is so loud turning up machine would not effect!

Definitely my favorite spot to chill and play pinball/arcade for the day. $10 is amazing since you get all day play for that! They also allow outside food to be delivered which is great as well. Love Cirqus Voltaire and hope they keep it there!

This place is fire ! Super clean and the games are so fun. Lots of variety. Very awesome recreational spot in Asheville.

Lots of games, $10 play all you want. Lots of fun.

We had such a blast at this spot! Kicked off our bachelor getaway here since my buddies were keen on diving into some video games or bar games and savoring exceptional beers. The array of coffee, beers, and appetizers was top-notch, and the prices were quite fair. We had a great time hanging out here for a while, playing for about 3 to 4 hours. After filling up on delicious food, we headed off to our next escapade. We tried our hand at a variety of games like pinball, snooker, biking, bowling, dancing, air

First time visiting was today and definitely will return. Loved playing the arcade games from my childhood. Bar and bar food are available. Very clean place. Staff were all friendly.

I just can't keep going here. I have a lot of fond memories of this place, but now it's such a bust. Clearly this place is just a bar, not a retro arcade. I don't know who's idea it was to swap out all the CRT screens for the wrong ratio, laggy LCD panels; but nearly every classic machine in the whole place has been totally destroyed and isn't worth playing. Some games that were designed with LCDs are cool, but they are few and far between (and often broken). If you like pinball they have a few classic mach

Great place for adults and kids. Retro arcade machines from the early 80's plus tons of old school pinball machines. Over 21 after a certain time of night, serve adult beverages. Really good pricing with unlimited play.

What a cool little spot! $10 at the door gets you free play on what must be 100+ machines. Two floors of arcade games. From pinball machines to classic 80s and 90s arcades to racing and shooting games. They also have a pool table and air hockey. They serve beer on tap and have some food options. It can be a bit crowded and noisy. But hey, it's an arcade!

The place is fun on Thursday nights it's ladies night $5 all day play. The bar is full stocked. The ambiance is fun! We went with a group. It was a blast. The restrooms are super interesting

Had a really good time at the Asheville retrocade. It was late but they stayed open and accommodated us allowing me to play pinball on just about any machine they had. They have killer Queen which is a fun game for a whole bunch of people to play. Make sure you visit downstairs because there's lots of other games and skee ball. Can't wait to visit Asheville so I can play on those machines again. I'm not sure that the food is very good, but they have drinks and fun games so it's worth a visit. The people wer

Excellent and fun place to go out with friends, family, and dates. The cover fee is only $10, and it gives you access to both floors that are full of games ranging from classic arcade machines to pinball and to more modern console games. The staff, while busy, are quick to help you, and the food and drinks come out pretty quickly. Refreshments are reasonably priced, and there is a good variety of beer and wine available at the bar. Unfortunately, it does get a bit cramped at times, but that's only at peak h

This retro style bar caters to game lovers of all styles! A bank Of awesome pinball, massive tvs for Console gaming along the bar, and the downstairs is stocked with fantastic retro console arcade options, skee ball, air hockey, and multiplayer game options. After 9pm it is 21+ only, so you have a kid friendly option during the day and a more adult oriented atmosphere in the evenings. Late night game play sometimes aS late as 2am! Sunday evening is industry night, they were offering a discount when we went

We had so much fun here! For $10, you get unlimited play on all the games. It's super fun trying out all the different pinball machines. We especially enjoyed playing mario kart on the TV while sipping on mimosas at the bar. Very limited menu, but good snacking options! Will definitely be back

Been here twice and it doesn't disappoint! $10 play for access to a huge arcade 2 floors and 3 rooms! So many fun classic games to play- from pinball, cars/motorcycle, Mario, street fighting, ninja turtles, pac man - this is worth a stop!

The service was on point. My beer was spilled on accident and I got another immediately. I asked to put my bag behind the bar and they kindly did it. The games were fun and I had a blast playing all the pinball. Especially Rick and Morty lol. Y?all are killing the game keep it up.

Incredibly fun! We spent 6 hours here and could have easily spent longer if we didn't need to head home! They had such a good selection of games, pinball machines, all the video game consoles, ski ball, air hockey, arcade games! It was well put together. $10 for lots of fun! We will be back when in the area!

I went here with my teenage son and we had a good time playing some of the arcade games many of which are geared towards playing with or against other people. They do have a limited menu of food but it was mostly the type of food you would get at a carnival. The servers were friendly. It's worth going to check out and enjoy yourself.

Went on a whim during a rainy day and really enjoyed this place. It was crowded but we didn't have to wait long for any games and the price was affordable. I totally lost track of time because we having such a great time there. I loved all the old school games!

We love this place! We had been coming here for years, but moved away and had kids. We recently visited again and were able to bring both of our kids with us. They had a blast!! They ask us all the time if we can go back there!

Great place to play games. However the worst service I encountered my entire visit to Asheville. The bartender cooked 2 separate pizzas and then a corn dog with his back turned to the bar guests just watching the oven count down instead of helping patrons. We stood there for over 10 minutes without even a hello. He was constantly on his phone, he couldn't even put it down while he was running our cards. Very unprofessional.

Pay one price pinball and 80's video games. Has a bar, which is cool. Some of the pinball machines were "stuck", in other words, the active ball got jammed somewhere on the play field. There were no technicians around that I saw to have them fix it.

Wonderful atmosphere and awesome people. The whole place was so chill and laid back. Folks playing video games on the TVs, pinball tournament going downstairs, and the bar even gave out free drink tickets just because. The pinball machines were in good condition too, with a rockin? selection of mostly 90s and later machines.

This place was clean and a lot of fun. The staff was super helpful and friendly and fun! Definitely found my new favorite spot!

My family had an amazing time here. We spent 3 hours playing games. Our favorite games were Skee Ball, Mario Kart, Dr. Mario, Q-Bert, and PAC Man.

On date nights sometimes my husband and I will go here. Definitely a good atmosphere, we really enjoy all the games they have to offer both upstairs and downstairs.

One of the better barcades that I've been to. You pay a flat fee and get access to all of the games. There's an upstairs, and a downstairs with a lot of variety. Several games are multi-player which was perfect for the group of 4 we had. All of the workers were very nice and helpful. You can also order drinks at the bar (beer, wine and liquor - pay as you go).

So much fun, a blast from the past! 10.00 for unlimited play all day, you get an armband and can come and go. Food and beer and wine. Play games or just hang out. Masks required. The only downside to this location is the lack of parking options. The only parking is whatever you can find on the main road.

We liked this arcade! You pay $10 to play all day (you get wristbands in case you want to leave and come back.) This had some great games to play. The drawback is there is loud background music along with the individual noise from some of the games so it can be overstimulating for some.

Y'all need to stop whatever tf you're doing RIGHT NOW and get yourself here. One entry fee gets you a bracelet for UNLIMITED game play. They have over a dozen pinball machines (don't worry, I'm attaching photos of every one). Granted one here and there may not have the best trigger response, or it may be a bit unbalanced - BUT ITS FREE so play the game next to it twice to make yourself feel better. What's even better? They serve beer. They've also got a Pacman game, tvs you can play consoles on, and other a

Not the best barcade I've been to, but probably the best one in Asheville. Loved the Initial D game. But a Japanese rhythm game or 2 wouldn't go amiss.

They have a great selection of about 15 or so mostly current games. The few Classics that they have were excellent choices and for their age and reasonably good condition. It's a little small and a little bit noisy but kind of unavoidable in an arcade environment. Went on a Wednesday afternoon, the place was fairly full but didn't have any trouble getting to play games.

truly excellent 80s style retro arcade. you can tell the owner really takes pride in the small details. they have rare and classic games and you get to play all of them for one price. they also keep tabs on capacity so it doesn't get overly crowded. that being said expect there to be a minor weight if you come during a busy period. it won't take long though.

Great place for youth and adults. You can play and drink here. Food was good. Incredible prices. Loved it. And connects to a Cafe place which is good too. I visited both. Couldn't complaint.

What a fun place. The have pinball, Skee-Ball, arcade and video games. This is definitely a fun spot to come hang out with the whole family. if your big into pinball they host a tournament every Wednesday night at 8pm.

I took my kids here for the first time today and we all loved it. It was crowded and hot but totally worth it. So many fun games. We didn't get any drinks or food but you really can't beat hours of old school game fun for $10 a head. The pinball machines were my favorite. I also like that the patio areas were roomy and easy to access when you need to step out for a breather or a smoke.

Had around 50 arcade machines. Good selection of pinball upstairs and arcade machines downstairs. Played crusin word and Rick & Morty pinball most. $10 for a wrist band, unlimited play, hard to beat.

Really fun arcade. Good atmosphere. Good deal; $10 for all you want play. Friendly staff. Clean. Family friendly. Bar available. Snacks and soft drinks available.

my favorite place to take my son to hangout. Unlimited play, he can run around and play the arcade games or the console games on one of the tvs behind the bar while I play pinball. It's nice because they stay open so late, and I like that it is kid-free after 9pm.

Awesome place to drink and play games with others, went on a monday night not expecting many souls to be present but it was packed, had many good conversations. It was fun.

I think a question that comes up often is what makes this arcade different from the other options in the area. Here are the highlights! -Open earlier and later than other options. -Has TWO floors of arcade games -Nice layout, even when it's packed it doesn't feel claustrophobic and has a good flow. -has outdoor balcony where you can smoke/vape. -has both upstairs and downstairs bathroom. -has just about everything you can think of, pinball, arcade cabinets, skee ball, air hockey, ddr, etc! -employees are

What an awesome place! Lots of pinball machines. They have DDR!!! Unlimited play for $10 which is great! Beer selection is good! I only wish it was a bigger place because I had such a great time here. Absolutely would recommend! No kids after 9pm which I GREATLY appreciate, but this would be a great afternoon spent with kids if you have em!

A great place to go with friends. It's very reasonably priced: $10 for all day gaming fun. They have pinball machines, Pacman, and console games. They don't have ping pong, table shuffleboard or those types of games. Fun environment and atmosphere.

This place is awesome (would recommend the down stairs it air hocey ski ball racing games +more ) the staff was incredibly nice and overall a good hang out or date

I went with my husband and it was so much fun!! We weren't expecting to have as much as we did! Cant wait to go back

Didn't have the best experience. My boyfriend had his military uniform on and got harassed by two guys here that were customers. So scary.

Perfect place for a date night. The entry fee is $10 which means you can play all day. The pinball collection is big. They have old school arcade games as well as consoles. Family friendly as well.

Brought my 2 kids here while visiting Asheville for thanksgiving week. 10/person for unlimited games. They have a great selection of pinball on the main level along with the classic arcade games. Think of galaga centipede etc. Also on the main level they have modern console games (Xbox PS4) so you can play on a big screen at the bar. The lower level has the shoot em up games, pool, air hockey. Also the group driving games are down there. Each level has bathrooms. They serve beer and have a great sel

The boys had a great time! You have to buy a pass and then you get to play non-stop for a limited amount of time. No quarters for the machines, all free play after the purchase of a bracelet.

So much fun for all ages! Plenty of games. Pinball, Foosball, air hockey, video games. Even an old Pac-Man. Kid and adult friendly. $10/person. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Some food. Very crowded on a warm, non-school day afternoon. Great activity for 2 seniors and a 6 year old grand.

Family was hesitant to go here. But we loved it!! If they could have more of the team games fixed that would be great. All in all. We had two hours of fun for $10 each

This place is quite possibly the best barcade and arcade in all of North Carolina. 100/10!

$10 for all day all games on free play. Variety of games and lots of fun. Great selection of pinball and pinball tournaments on Wednesdays. Medieval Madness, Monster Bash, Adam's Family, Guardians of the Galaxy, Twilight Zone Pinball and many more at this time. Open during the afternoon, appropriate for kids and parents. After 9pm the arcade is 21+ only and it's open till 2am like a real bar. Domestic beer, craft beers, ciders, wine, and lots of drinks on tap. No liquor unfortunately. If you're in the area

Killer hangout has tons of retro games like Tekken 3, Marvel vs Capcom etc. Can play PS5 on the big screens as well

Those man work in the bar was nice but the mock tail that my girlfriend and I got absolutely tasted like toxic water. It was terrible half the games are trashed so you're basically paying $10 for nothing per person literally half the games that would be fun do not work do not go there. Do not waste your money. I mean if I was an alcoholic and drunk, it might would?ve been an OK experience but as a sober couple of my girlfriend and I did not enjoy the experience I felt like it was a complete waste of money.

My partner and I had so a blast! It was easy to spend over 4 hours there! They had a great beer selection, great game selection, and atmosphere! I definitely will be back! From arcade to console, we had a blast!

A really fun spot with cool old arcade and pinball games, and a bar. Pay $10 at the door and open a tab for the bar, then okay all the games you want for free.

Lots of wonderful, well maintained pinball machines, wonderful bar experience. Lots and lots of different arcade style games and consoles. Wonderful experience!

Fun spot for kids and adults, time flies here, there's so much to play.

Staff very friendly and there's a diverse crowd of ppl playin free old school arcade games( $10 door fee ) with alcoholic drinks and light snacks.had an awesome time! Prices for food and drinks were actually descent!

Great experience but a couple issues with the pinball machines. It was super fun, super loud and like walking back into 1980. It was amazing seeing all the kids listening to music from 1980s and just excited about everything from playing switch to air hockey. I can to play pinball and they had some really nice ones with the music turned up which is super awesome. Some of the machines se med to be monied to make the. Look cooler but balls tended to get stuck in about half the machines. I highly recommend goi

I had a lot of fun playing with all the different games and all the pinball machines. Its tight quarters and there were a suprising number of unsupervised minors running around. It was a lot more enjoyable after a lot of the kids cleared out. My only real issue was finding parking. I didn't see anything on the website for suggested parking, and not being from the area I had some trouble finding a spot.

This place was great! All you can play games for $10! Wish I had one closer to home! They had all the old school and some of the new school. They had a wide variety of beverages and they are fairly priced. I will definitely visit this place every time I'm in Asheville!

Very fun place and some really great games. It is like going back in time. Good beer selection as well.

In Ashville playing baseball at Bob Lewis Park we took several of our 9 year old baseball players there after our morning games. Perfect entertainment for them $10 all you can play!

Wanted to stop here while in Asheville because we love old school arcade games. For only $10 a piece figured why not try it out. First, they only sell beer and no alcohol. Missed that when checking out their website. So that is reason for 4 stars. Most likely due to so many children not worth risk. I understand that. But still was small letdown. Other than that staff were great. Most of the games were functional which some reviews complained about. It was a one and done for me. Probably wouldn't go back ag

Love the Retrograde!!!! Fun! Fun! Fun! Upstairs and downstairs gaming! Grab some brews and loosen up y?all! Game on! So much fun

Great place. All you can play for $10. Games were enjoyable. A few suggestions. Get a Ninja Air Fryer for your food instead of using a microwave. You'll get better consistency and the food will taste better. Also, have someone wipe down and clean all the machines about every half an hour. It'll give people more ease of mind and keep things cleaner. A nice place to hang out.

We've stopped here every time we're in town. Our kids love the game selection even though some of these games are four decades older than they are, and the nostalgia for me hooks me right away. Beer selection is great, and the prices aren't bad at all for everything. My kids can burn through as many games as they want, and there's an air hockey table downstairs!

Who doesn't love playing arcade games? Some old, some new, some a little janky, but most in great shape. $10pp is totally fair for what most likely will be a couple hours of fun. They also have a varied selection of drinks and a few snacks to hold you over till your next meal. Odds cafe and Asheville Sandwich are on either side of the arcade, so fuel up and get back at it quick.

Fun place for sure! $10 for all day play makes it a great place to take kids on a rainy day. Decent selection of games. Only suggestion I'd have is to try and figure out more chairs/tables for parents who aren't playing just paying for kids to play. Also, there is zero wifi/cell phone reception in their downstairs so just a heads up.

Awesome place! Pinball machines on the upper floor, arcade games on the lower. Drinks available. Home console games too.

An incredible selection of games! You pay one time and you get unlimited access all day long. They have a great drink selection and let you bring in outside food.

Very fun. Just ten bucks to get in and unlimited games after that. Good selection of retro arcade games, but the place gets a bit crowded in the evening. There are modern game consoles for the smaller kids who don't like retro games. Overall, a very fun experience.

My son took me here for my birthday and we weren't told that in under an hour and a half it was switching to 21 and up. If this was my only experience here, my rating would be 1 star. Unfortunately, it was his first experience there and since he paid he has no desire to go back.

soooooo much fun! Locals seem to enjoy it too. $10 per person for all you can play. Amazing. They also have nintendo switch, XBOX, playstation at the bar.

It was clean, the service was great and the machines were all in working order and we had a great time.

This place is the best. My family loves coming here on a rainy day and staying for hours.

Gaming price is excellent. Beer prices are where they make it up. But beer and games what can you ask for. A lot of game bodies have multiple games on them .

It seems as though no matter what day I've been here its crowded, but other than that it is pretty fun. Inexpensive and enjoyable with old and new games. My 12 year old brother's favorite place in Asheville.

Always loved Retrocade. Has arcade games, pool, skeeball, air hockey, console games...everything. They also have a great drink selection. I've been 3 or 4 times and it's always been a blast.

One door guy was like I'm the king of the nerds and you can't get in here without paying to play games...dude...I'm 40 years old...I don't play video games ok? I'm here for a date. And to get a drink. Sure I'll pay your cover but you suck as a human you know that right?

Never even made it inside this place. Drove to Asheville just to check it out. As we arrived we noticed it was in a tiny little storefront building no way they can fit many people inside without everyone running into each other and we drove around in circles for 15 minutes trying to find a place to park. We called the store 4 times with no answer and voice mail box full to ask where the customers park. We find a place down the street but parking is $13 and limited to 3 hours. We had planned to spend the day

Perfect way to spend a couple hours on a rainy day during our vacation! Can't beat a $10/person entry fee for hours of fun. Kids and adults loved it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pinball tables still good in this modern age?

Yes, pinball tables in arcades remain a blast. Their hands-on, skill-driven gameplay delivers a thrill digital games can’t match, blending nostalgia with modern flair. Newer tables from Stern and Jersey Jack feature LCD screens and themes like Avengers or Stranger Things, keeping things exciting. Arcades are seeing a pinball resurgence with vibrant scenes and tournaments like IFPA events drawing crowds. Though less common than video games, pinball’s tactile charm and community vibe make it a standout arcade experience in 2025.

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
