Arrowhead Lanes

Arrowhead Lanes

Reviews Summary

This bowling alley receives mixed reviews, with strong polarization between positive and negative experiences. Many praise the old-school atmosphere, friendly staff, and fun activities like cosmic bowling and mini-golf. However, numerous complaints highlight poor maintenance, rude employees, overpricing, hygiene issues, and malfunctioning equipment. Several reviewers mention unsafe conditions, racism concerns with decor, and accessibility problems. While some customers love the nostalgic vibe and return regularly, others vow never to visit again due to terrible service, high costs, and unhygienic practices. The most consistent negatives involve pricing structure, staff attitude, and facility upkeep.

Customer Reviews

We played 1 game and it was 75 dollars. The game froze 4 or 5 times so it took us like 2 hours to play 1 game. Then we couldn't use a green bowling ball because it was just for kids. I couldn't bowl with the kids because there land had bumpers. If I paid 75 dollars I should be able to do what I want. It was very micromanaged. Very disappointing

Went there to play mini golf. It was really great. I can't believe we waited so long to go there. The grandkids were very impressed as well and that is what matters to me. We'll be back when we get the kids next month.

I was surprised with the black light mini-golf. It was cool. My family and I really enjoyed it. The staff was nice. The only downside was that a couple of the games in the "arcade" area were broken/didn't allow regular play. For example, one of the claw machines had something broken above the track, so you couldn't mice it very far to the right. Overall, it was neat. Might try bowling next time.

This is a very old location in a bad area of champaign. I was there 3 times and each time multiple gun shots heard outside. I don't feel safe here. Sorry just being honest.

The old ass woman was rude they charge 55 plus for an hour and didn't even let us finish 1 game they scam you out your money and it smelled so foul in there we will never go back again

Bowling lane broke down multiple times. Switched lanes, broke again. Asked to mini golf instead and the owner told me to kick rocks and thanks for my donation. Safe to say, I'm never coming back to this classless establishment EVER again..

It's a good, older bowling alley. It's well maintained and loved by the staff. I only think the place is a little too big for the number of staff they have. Not everything is going to be attended to, so you have to be patient if you want the full experience. I agree with a lot of the other reviews with the price and heaviness of the balls. If you want long term fun at this location, I would recommend having your preferred gear brought to the site. It's what all the regulars do.

Tried calling to reserve a spot for 11pm and the guy there told us we couldn't because it closes in an hour then hung up on me after. They also lock the doors an hour early so no one can get in. Would rate lower if I could.

So much to do at Arrowhead Lanes. Bowling lanes and equipment are top notch and maintained very well. They have a wide variety of video games along with a well stocked and organized snack bar area, and a full bar with pool tables and also gambling machines. I have personally met the owner and know that he really cares about your experience at Arrowhead Lanes. Forgot to mention they have moonlight/black light putt putt golf, which is very cool.

Went and played mini golf and had a great time. Whole family loved it

Wonderful experience. Lisa was so kind and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our time there.

Horrible place balls get lost in walls while mini golf then have hoodlum children running around doing what they want writing on walls and spitting ect. will never go etc. to this place

Super nice place to bowl. Dave does a great job! Go to him for all your ball drilling.

Great time at league night! And David Bolt pro shop recommended the right bowling ball for me, to allow me to roll a 595 3 game series, despite only bowling twice this year!

This bowling alley is amazing. It's been so much fun going there! This is definitely a place that is worth checking out!

It's an okay place to bowl. $50 an hour covers 6 people with shoes... not bad at all. The service, however, can use some improvement. The owner is not always nice. She's a grumpy lady and takes it out on the very people who are spending money at her establishment. There is a cash bar, but you have to wait forever for overpriced drinks.

Went here for my sister's bachelorette party and had a great time! Everything was very clean and our service was great.

I really enjoy bowling at Arrowhead and Western. The staff are friendly and helpful. Equipment from the Pro Shop is competitively priced, and Dave Bolt is very knowledgeable, whether it be to help choose the correct equipment or give advice on your game. For 2024, they have an unbeatable Summer Pass, and the short season leagues are a lot of fun. Cosmic Bowling is always a great time, with good music and fun under the black lights! I highly recommend checking out both Arrowhead Lanes and Western Bowl!

The cosmic bowling is so much fun! The kids had a great time!

Lots of fun bowling on Sundays with the bowling league always get treated well when we are there.

Bowled a couple games. Wasn't to expensive. There's also an indoor Putt-Putt golf

Mixed reviews here...giving the good and bad I've never been to Arrowhead before, I knew nothing of what to expect but my daughter wanted to bowl for her birthday party... First, the positive. I called two weeks ago, to reserve a birthday package. It was 200.00 Allows 8 to mini golf, 8 to bowl, show rental and 2 pitchers of soda 2 cheese pizzas. They were friendly. They were easy going about what time I wanted (some have leagues on weekends) some have restrictions. When we got there, they tended to us rig

I'm always treated well by staff weather it be bowling, Trivia, or bingo Elisa and Dave are always checking on us and just coming to speak with us!

1. They don't have a good variety of balls. Our lane only had the super heavy 13-14 numbered balls. 2. They didn't have correct size shoe. 3. The staff was unhelpful ans unfriendly. 4. The machine is also, the balls come back after a long wait (4-5 shots). Overall a bad experience for the price paid. Never coming back here again. The worst thing is they charged us as soon as we went to the counter, and they have a big note places saying no refunds for any reason. So we had to make do with whatever shoes,

This bowling alley is way overpriced...And the guy was so pushy with everything so we opted out of bowling and did the mini golf instead !

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I have never felt so disrespected as much as when THE OWNER of this establishment spoke to me/others with me. The charge for the event we had planned somehow, between setting a reservation and arriving, far exceeded my understanding. But instead of trying to compromise with us and/or be understanding, the Owner thought it would be better to make sarcastic comments to my face. I will say she didn't charge us the reservation fee...That was the nicest thing that was done for u

Our first experience. We loved the indoor glow in the dark put put! The only issue we had was hole 8 is just a ramp with a hole at the top that drops the ball to lower level. You can't really see the hole while putting.

this place is so bad it's getting my only review ever. went here with 4 friends and you pay to bowl by half hour/hour instead of by game. It costed us $70 to bowl one and a half games. half the arcade games are broke and most of the balls are chipped. about 5 people complained about something being wrong with their lane or the ball return as we arrived. anyone rating this above 2 is blinded by nostalgia

It was a delicious lunch,I loved both the light and delicious soup and chicken salad, the price was cheaper than I thought, thanks for tea and the friendly team?????? This is a place I go to all the time. If I don't stop by once a month, I feel incomplete. I think they add love to their food, that's the secret.

Honestly I hate to leave anyone a bad review but there were just too many issues to ignore. For one, we lost one lane we reserved out of nowhere. And there were such long lines to just get shoes we ended up sharing with each other or wearing socks for awhile just to play. Also there was only one guy (I felt so sorry for him!) working in both the bar and making pizzas. Prices for both were a bit too steep, and at one point they ran out of trays and pitchers so one of the ladies working was scrambling to run

Came in to bowl when a different place was full and WOW. Drew and Elisa were amazing!! Drew explained so much to us beginners, and even got us to join a beginners league. We love coming to Arrowhead lanes.

Super great family bowling time! Was not super busy at all, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. This has been here for my entire life. I imagine it has changed owners many times and they still maintain that old school bowling alley atmosphere(maybe cause that will Never change)

I regret to inform you that my recent bowling experience was exceptionally unsatisfactory. The pricing structure, which is based on a per-minute charge rather than a per-game basis, coupled with the absence of staff to provide clear explanations, resulted in an excessive financial burden. Furthermore, the individual preparing my pizza exhibited a lack of adherence to proper hygiene protocols, handling cash without gloves and subsequently touching the food without washing his hands. Additionally, he was obse

The 2 elder ladies are very rude. The 1 guy who works the bar and the food area . Can't keep up. The bowling ball are mostly chipped and it needs an update badly. Cosmic bowling during the night is about the only thing that's cool but. You don't want to pay money just for the lights.

The pit is functional and the bowling it decent but it is not very clean at all. I saw ants on the snack bar table. I don't have much to say about the snack bar as after that incident I didn't eat anything from it. The bathrooms were pretty gross too. Edit: I forgot to mention, but I also saw lots of broken glass and arguing in the parking lot. Yikes

The lanes are in great condition and always oiled well. This bowling alley is very old and has been around a long time. It definitely not the most up to date except for the lanes. Have a little patience as they seem to be a little under staffed. Bowling prices are very fair. The restrooms definitely need remodeling and the snackbar, bar, and mini golf could definitely use some help also. I go mainly for bowling and appreciate the well kept lanes.

The place has absolutely rude employees. We asked them a couple of time for lighter weight balls - They told us to find one yourself, with indifference. Then I tried looking for and could found any and then then they said we dont have lighter weight balls and dont come to us every 5 minutes. There are many reasons to NOT be at this venue for bowling 1. Costly compared to Illini Union -50 dollars an hour and 4 dollars a shoe 2. Rude employees 3. Not enough 6-10 lbs balls with varied finger tips size 4. No w

From the moment you walk in, this place smells so dirty. We still pushed through it and went ahead and got a lane to bowl. We had 4 adults and 2 children. The elderly lady (who was so unprofessional, very aggressive and spoke loudly) proceeded to explain that children and adults can not bowl together so we would we need to get two lanes, ?no problem? we said and paid her the $41 she required for two lanes. Later on when we were getting our shoes and wanted to pay for an extra pair of shoes she wanted to lie

Came here for a small work get together and we had a blast. The people in the alley (both customers and workers) were super friendly and social with us. We had a fun time and we played a couple of games and had a couple drinks at the bar too! I like the system they have for keeping track of the scores it is pretty fun.

So overpriced!!!! Payed $26 just for two people to mini golf! I tripped over every single hole, not safe for kids, it was very creepy. We finished within 5 minutes, it was so bad I wanted to ask for a refund. Definitely would not recommend. Go somewhere else, and save your money!

Demoralizing. Greeted with a demand to know how many games we were going to play. The website did not indicate it was league night (I checked). Shoes didn't fit, ball selection limited. I'm small and could not find a ball to fit my fingers. The bar was hard to find (a deserted second one reminded me of The Last of Us) and had limited beer options. When I asked for bumpers (I'm still learning) I was told anyone over the age of 12 can't have them. The bathroom?s trash lacked a bottom so personal items fall on

Badly malfunctioning and over oiled lanes, awful food, everything overpriced, rude staff. Kids got ripped off by the quarter machines, but i just wanted to get out of there. Just a horrible experience.

We played miniature golf. The balls were hard to distinguish. They were all white with some kind of minor paint splatter to tell them apart. The clubs were dirty. It took us about 10 minutes or longer standing at the desk to get waited on. It was $53 for the 4 of us and the course is small. The place is run down and over priced.

So disappointed. $32.00 for 2 adults and one child to play a round of mini golf. Course is covered in graffiti. Ramps are broken. No place to put score cards. Downright eerie being back there unattended with no sounds or music or anything. They do not appear to serve food anymore. Their game room is just a bunch of non-games where you slide tokens around. Prize machine ate tickets without giving us credit for them. They need to give up and sell the place if they're not going to maintain or staff it.

They wouldn't put the bumpers up for us. Our game kept glitching. This place needs a whole new remodel. It looks like it did in the 80s.

Decent lanes, not usually a wait even on Friday nights. Not a great ball selection, so you usually have to go with a ball that's out of your comfort zone. Good specials, though you have to ask for them. If your group could get the same thing at a cheaper price, they won't actually tell you that. They'll let you pay the higher price and you'll notice later that a combo or special would have made it cheaper. Not great, not horrible, so I have it a 3 star rating.

I paid for 30 minutes and the number I was on got stuck in the machine for about 15 minutes and they told me they were only going to add 5 minutes, very bad service and the lady was arrogant.

Was there for a tournament. This is an older building and a bit small. There's no handicap parking. There's an old handicap ramp that is crumbling at the bottom. There is nothing remotely resembling a handicap accessible bathroom stall in the women's restroom that I entered. As a person recovering from surgery, I found those issues the most important.

The staff is nice and I loved the black light mini golf. Only complaint would be about other customers who were disrespectful. They left beer bottles and trash on the course and their kids would plow through the course without letting other groups of people go first. I thought 'its ok, theyre just kids, they dont know' but then the parents were rude also. I might come back at a time where less people are there.

Mini golf is the worst I've seen. It's hot. Stuffy /mildew smell. Hole 8 is filled in? Most black lights are old and barely working. On top of all that, it's freaking $13 for 18! All other courses give you 36 holes for that amount. Not to mention it's directly in the middle of one of the worst parts of town. The games are mostly broken. Don't waste your money on the tokens. And if you plan on bowling don't. It's league only. The guy said public bowl is down the street at the other lanes they own. Never goin

The bowling area is well kept, but the rest of the facility is rather shabby. I attended a party there, and the service was slow. The staff were nice, but there weren't enough of them. The pizza is nothing special, but it is edible at least. Overall, a "meh" experience.

Spent $240 on 3 lanes for a birthday party and was glared at the entire time by Staff and league?s. No music playing for the entire night (dead silence) Machines for prizes do not work so waste of money buying tokens. Bathrooms dirty and smell like sewer. Spoke to the owner who is very disrespectful and unable to help the situation with machines that don't work. (Should have a OUT OF ORDER SIGN) instead of wasting my money when the kids can't when the prizes they're playing for. Total rip off

Poor service, lady kept snacking and walking around the place making it difficult to find her. Overpriced for both bowling and mini golf. Mini Golf unattended, very creepy. My wife hurt herself twice while we were playing the game, be careful on broken obstacles. Their balls were extremely heavy. You had to sanitize your own stations and even the balls you used. Save your time and money!!!!

We were there around 2 in the afternoon, we were there by ourselves. This made it nice since we hadn't bowled in about 17 years (no one got to see how bad we are!). The manager was very nice and helpful. It was a good time!

Went on a Sunday afternoon. It was dead but took a few minutes before we were helped. Did the indoor minigolf and it was awkwardly quiet. The walls are covered in tags. About 1/4 of the blacklights were burnt out and some of the obstacles for the ball didn't have anything glowing so my date and I tripped on more than one as we followed the ball. Poor experience.

Bowling was great! But the service sucked. There was one man working the entire evening shift. We ordered pizza when we arrived he could not make it because large groups came in he had to assist. Coukd not get drinks at the bar because he coukd not assist again. Needed change for vending machines he ran out of money. Had to call managment to come in bring money and assist with patrons. We spent well over 100 bucks with my party. Was not worth it at all. Thumbs down!!!!

Unless you're prepared to spend an OBNOXIOUS amount of money for "SLIM TO NONE!" service and entertainment, and food you would think was picked from a dumpster, I would not recommend it to anyone! The hot dogs looked like DRIED RAISINS and were $4 a peice... ( I wish I had taken pictures of our meal) ... THE BURGER, a frozen patty, probably microwaved, ...and Chilli cheese fries where you get 5 frozen crinkle fries with week and a half old canned chilly, microwaved like EVERYTHING else... MINI GOLF was our

It was okay but the ball return didn't work very well a lot of wait time or from between walking back n forth to the counter to tell the attendees that the ball was stuck again or had to keep clearing the pins for a new reset. It was a hassle to pay $50 for my 2 kids and I to bowl 2 games.

We had a group of 4. Played 2 games in 1 hour and had a great time. Fast service. Lanes and equipment were good. I had a little trouble finding a ball that was not too heavy, but eventually did.

I truly enjoyed myself and the place wasn't half bad. My only complaint is the machines kept messing up. You need to update your machines other then that it was great. Customer service was fantastic

We had a large family outing. We bowled two games and really had a great time. The one drawback is the snack bar had noone to serve us.

I love Arrowheads! Not only can you bowl, you can play arcades or putt putt golf in the dark! How fun is that? Plus, they have the best food! Like to shoot pool? They have many pool tables and 2 separate bars. A huge basement where they have party's all the time! An all around fun, family businesses

Ripoff. 25 dollars for 2 games with my kid. Bumpers go up manually so if you ask for them, they stay up for the entire duration. Also, it was nice to stand there at the front desk while the employees chatted up their friends while watching us wait. That's always fun. Awful place.

Called and got static and then they hung up. I literally heard them pick up an then hang up. So I called back and a very rude lady informed me if I call and don't say anything she's hanging up, so I told her oh I'm sorry I was saying things but couldn't hear a reply and then they hung up, and then I asked if they had open bowling and she hung up AGAIN, now she's answering and hanging up immediately

Me and friends went. Lanes were cool and affordable and it was fun, but food took forever because they've only got one worker. That's not right. And the food is overpriced.

Horrible. Smells rude employees, bathroom looks like it had never been cleaned. Shoes where nasty smelling sweat stained and poor fitting. Thugs hanging outside selling drugs. Will never go back. Very expensive an not worth the price. Save your money an bowl on the Wii.

Only came for the mini golf and it could really use some love. A handful of blacklights were out so it was very dark in spots. A little expensive for the quality of the current experience.

The mini golf is overpriced and it isn't even fun. There was a wad of chewed gum by the putters, and he walls are wrtiiem all over. I looks like they put together to golf area in a day, and they put no effort in to making the course any fun. The bowling isn't as bad, but the mini golf ruined this place for me.

Did the Cosmic Bowling and will not return! $50 for one hour and not many bowling balls to choose from. Over all we had a great time but that was due to the people we bowled with NOT AT ALL THE ARROWHEAD STAFF!

Do not come to this location ? they are not accepting or willing to help facilitate people with disabilities! The staff at this location is not friendly and did not treat my disabled sister well. My sister had a very negative experience at this location and I am writing a review on her behalf. My sister has a disability (Down Syndrome) and when you meet her, you can clearly tell that she has a disability despite the fact that she is 23. Her friend took her to this location on October 20th for a fun after

Horribly over priced, tripping hazards everywhere, very creepy and not fun to do. Absolutely on no circumstances recommend. Couldn't even make my 5 year old happy

Suppose to close at 11pm on Saturday, but when I called on, October 21, 2023, they said they closed at 10pm. There times are never not up-to-date online. It is a major inconvenience.

$39 for 3 people to play mini golf. Not really worth it for the short course that it is. Please fix your air conditioning. Also had a weird smell

Pretty cool place, not too clean our table had a lot of dust power on it and not many varies of bowling ball sizes I had to play with a size 13 which was too heavy for me

Never fails. The owner is always rude. Overpriced food. Watered down drinks.

Wonderful friendly and caring people . So much fun to be had there. The mini golf course has a wild neon design. It is very cool

This place is Disgusting it was over price and screen was frozen the whole time, we went up to the counter to tell someone we were at counter for about 10 mins waiting for someone the lighting was horrible. I would not recommend anyone to go here

The entire theme of this place is racist. There is weird and appropriative faux Native American designs on the walls, and the bathrooms are labeled ?braves? and ?squaws? which are overtly racist names. No one should support or patron this business until there is a complete overall of this anti-indigenous imagery

We really enjoyed our self can't wait to go back price was great and the golf was awesome i really loved my drinks and bowling as well great customer service keep up the awesome work guys.

Piss poor service. Balls constantly stuck when paying per hour. Place has went downhill bad. Will never spend a dime there again.

It's not the cleanest bowling alley...The shoes need to be replaced. Otherwise, I had a good time here. The woman working the bar when I went was rude.

Fun times, but they need new shoes for kids and more people working the kitchen.

Drinks were overpriced, and we had to find somebody to take our drink order. On the flip side, cosmic bowling is always fun, and the lanes and common areas were clean and well maintained.

Worst Experience I have had, First they're bowling balls were to heavy for my kids, they just played pool while waiting for the pizza, which they screwed up the order, we dont eat sasuage and guess what they put? sasuage. We ended up going to jimmy johns. Do NOT Waste your money

Went on a Saturday. Poor Customer Service, Equipment faulty. Pool table didn't work. They need to Upgrade that place .. ?? Won't be returning

Mini-Golf is absolutely awesome! Bowling was so much fun. Video games a blast, and the pizza was delicious. Thanks so much for a fun night and wonderful hospitality. ?

Great place to bowl!! They have bowling, food, adult beverages, food and indoor mini golf!! Awesome place to take a family out for a night of fun!!

I love arrowhead lanes. I really appreciate the workers. I go bowling very often. I love that they love bowling as much as I do. I bought my bowling ball from arrowhead and I will return to buy again. I think that the building needs to be renovated, however. :)

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
