Reviews Summary

This arcade is praised for its unique Japanese game selection, especially rhythm and fighting games, with well-maintained machines and reasonable prices. The friendly, welcoming staff and cozy atmosphere are highlights. However, some note issues like occasional strong odors, limited space, and a few broken machines. While most love the niche appeal, a few find it too crowded or lacking variety compared to larger arcades. Overall, it’s a gem for enthusiasts but may not suit everyone.

I love this place and it's location up here instead of being close to the downtown area. Lots of decent interesting games. I will have to agree with other reviewers on the stank. I guess the Pump It Up and In the Groove crowd be working up a sweat or something. The smell was a bit too much. Need to employ a commercial air deodorizer or purifier in that area. Gagged upon walking in but had endured anyway. Crane game was lacking in interesting prizes. Asian crowds just can't help ourselves to them but this

One of the top traditional Japanese-style arcades in Austin, Texas, this spot is a must-visit for fans of fighting games and dance/rhythm games. Recently relocated to a new, larger space, it offers an unforgettable gaming experience and is definitely worth checking out when you're in town.

initial d, marvel vs Capcom, street fighter 3, Tetris VS, and the train conductor game you've never seen anything like in your life. + A billion other games, all at super reasonable prices. $10 goes a long way Good times and pocari sweat. It doesn't get much better than this

We brought a big party late on a Friday night, the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. I would recommend this to any arcade lovers in the area. The machines are all extremely well maintained and all the staff are wonderful people.

Amazing Japanese-style arcade with decent cabinet selection for rhythm and fighting games specifically. Been going here since the original opened up years ago on campus and never really stopped.

Saw this online and I was surprised how much fun I had. I am an OG gamer and I really enjoyed the retro games at this location. The location is small but it's very welcoming. Location is great for adults and teens. Worth the try.

Brought the kiddos out to try this place. We spent a lot of time here and really enjoyed everything about it. It is a small place, but it has plenty of games. I loved that though it was mostly adults, not one person was bothered by young children. Lovely atmosphere.

A relaxing atmosphere with a friendly staff. Drinks can be brought in. However, the sit down arcades are basically just PS4 consoles with a fancy interface. It gave me sort of a cookie cutter vibe. Place is very small. I didn't quite get the value that you can get at other nearby establishments. All in all, not a bad experience though.

Really cute place hidden in a shopping center with friendly staff and lots of fun games to play. I was a little unsure at first, because I had never been in a Japanese arcade before, but all of the games were entertaining. Took someone for their birthday and we had a blast!

From Maryland and the staff there were very welcoming and even gave me a free souvenir to take back with me. Would definitely recommend this place if you like playing arcade games, especially the rhythm ones

The rhythm games here are so fun! I've also always had a nice experience here; the other arcade goers are super nice.

Awesome arcade if you're into rhythm games like Jubeat, Beatmania, Chunithm, Sound Voltex. Seems like the fighting game cabinets are super well kept as well. Staff is very nice. Long live the Japanese arcade!

Great place! May be a bit on the small side but the arcade machines are in absolute great state. The pump it up machine is latest version and connected to the internet. 1 dollar for 4 songs. Initial D machine is also connected and recognized my Aime card I brought from Japan! Pretty cheap, clean, fun. Highly recommended

Fun little place to play some arcade games. Well stocked for a place this small .There were about 20 cabinets with even more games (staff switches between different games on cabinets on demand). Was happy that masking is enforced and sanitizer was made available in the main and side rooms.

Update: New location is great, more room and new machines, keep up the great work! Great place to experience an authentic Japanese arcade, was def worth the trip to Austin. And affordable, son played for 20 bucks for the whole evening

Good value but alot of console in a arcade cabinet..A good stop not a repeat for me ..Good staff and great variety in a small place..The people there all friendly playing and hanging out was welcoming.

Amazing collection of Japanese arcade games. Fighting games, initial D, and rhythm games! DDR and Pump, DJ, Pop'n, and most importantly, Jubeat. Every cabinet I played functioned extremely well: these machines are well taken care of and serviced properly. Games range between $0.50-$1.50. A $20 card will be hours of entertainment and worth every penny. Staff was nice as well. This isn't your standard arcade. You won't find games you're likely familiar with from arcades like Dave & Buster's. It's an arcade s

Great selection of cabinets especially the rhythm games. They have a fighting game side too with consoles available as well. Would recommend stopping by if you have the itch to go to a proper arcade.

Really awesome place if you need to get your Japanese arcade game fix! It's small, but they have a wide variety of games to choose from. Hopefully they can expand in the years to come! I will definitely be coming back whenever I have a free night!

Y?ALL GOT PUYO PUYO FEVER HERE I LITERALLY LOVE Y?ALL SO MUCH FOR THINKING ABOUT THE GAME ON THE NAOMI CABINETS And whoever thought of the game to be put in the list of games, you're literally so cool LMAO (And for people who do wanna play this game or the other Naomi games listed on their website, the cabinet has a little flyer ontop that tells you that you can change the game by request & they'll swap the game for you) REALLY fun & chill, everyone seems kind too. Best arcade 10/10

Small but good selection of Japanese arcade games!

Had the chance of visiting this cute arcade for a last minute birthday outing and my group had so much fun!! I'm now addicted to the piano air gesture rhythm game that was invigorating.

This place is my go to for rhythm games and initial D. Friendly staff, amazing games, great atmosphere!

Great game selection and very nice staff but, very obvious and repugnant odor coming from the fighting game side of this establishment. Maybe a bring deodorant policy? It smells real bad sometimes but great place

This is the only arcade I've been to that has Cave games (Deathsmiles and Dodonpachi). Tons of fighting games too, and a rotation of more obscure games.

Awesome arcade, super friendly and helpful workers there too. Just a cool laid back spot to game and meet people. Really enjoyed this spot.

My all time favorite place in Austin to visit. If you're a fan of fighting games, rhythm games (some similar to ddr and guitar hero, most are unique Japanese rhythm games), or even just a fun late night out on a Saturday, UFO is your spot ????

Absolutely the place to be if you're looking for the best rhythm, fighting, or even just general gaming experience. Cabs are kept in the best shape and the folks who work here support its excellent atmosphere 24/7. Easily accessible via MoPac, 183, and Burnet with a substantial upgrade to parking relative to the old location. GO HERE!

Really cool arcade with a good amount of games. Also good prices, put 20 dollars on a play card left with 13 credits. They never expire. Also the games are 0.50 to 1.00 to play, some are a lil more. The guys there are cool and friendly.

I have been here many times. The guy James is one of the owners. He is pretty helpful. I like the fighting games. My friends and I like this place. Great hangout for Saturday nights

This arcade is small and their parking lot is small too, but they have some popular games from Japan and South Korea. It's mostly for older kids and adults.

love the atmosphere and heart for rhythm games coming from phoenix az ??

Great Pricing, Amazing Selection of games , smells absolutely abysmal me and my mates stopped by to play some epic arcade games but were met with toxic sweat fumes they could really use sum a/c and a shower policy

visited from London, UK, and was mainly looking for rhythm games (DDR/ITG, Pump, Gitadora, jubeat). was really pleased with the selection here. machines are well-maintained and there are fans in appropriate spots. i just wished it was open earlier in the day!

awesome arcade atmosphere. has the "hole in the wall" type of feel which is good, great place for people to come together and relax instead of staying at home and playing online games. good and helpful customer service. Overall if your a gamer and like to get out this is the arcade for you!

Extremely cozy arcade with amazing games imported from Japan! I highly recommend this place for a unique arcade experience.

A bird gave me a card that had a bunch of credits on it. Thank you kind bird.

I had an awesome experience here! It really felt like I was in an arcade in Japan again. The prices for each play are very reasonable, and they have a good selection of games to play. Although it's not the biggest space, they definitely make the most out of what they have and utilize it well! I would highly recommend people to come try it out if they're looking to play some Japanese rhythm arcade games.

The arcade of my dreams. Never seen so many fighting game cabinets in one place, as well as games I'd never seen in the states before. Also got to play on a true quality Initial D cabinet which is extremely rare to come across. Staff were really chill and helpful as well. Really wish there was one of these in my area back home in Houston. Maybe a new location here in the future? :)

A very fun and nice arcade. Retro gamers will love this arcade and there are games for everyone.

I'm visiting Austin and I decided to go here. Best decision of the year so far. Dude at the desk was super helpful to me and my friend. Game selection is small but it's all top tier stuff and looks like it's imported from Japan. Remember how arcades used to be, well this place is that but in the modern day. So much fun I didn't even realize I spent multiple hours playing. Games are cheap as well so you're definitely getting your money?s worth. The atmosphere was also perfect; especially when the place gets

Has Pump It Up (newer generation), DDR, piano, DJ, drums, guitar hero, modern games (Pokemon fights) and classics (street fighters II, '98). PS5 and other consoles. Not crowded usually. Plenty of parking which is a big upgrade over the old location on campus. Not too loud. Kids friendly as far as I could tell.

Fun little spot in austin for rhythm games!

Been going here since I was a teen just to play Initial D. Great ppl. Nice meeting ppl with similar interests when gaming normally keeps you in the house

Great Prices, Great People, Great Games! More of a teen / adult environment. If you want to take a young kid to an arcade I suggest pinballz as it has tickets and prizes as-well as more kid friendly games. This arcade has mostly skill based fighting / rhythm games.

Such a great hangout spot. Lots of Japanese import games that put Round1 to shame. Great friendly people running the show, always welcome to help you get started. Most (if not all) of the games are catered towards teens/young adults so it may not be a spot to bring the kids. Definitely a place you MUST visit in Austin if you're into gaming.

Outside of the surrounding neighborhood looking a little bit sketchy. I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was a lot better than I thought. A lot of regular customers were very nice and polite. The staff was quick to help us with a machine that wasn't working properly and gave us some credits back. I don't live in Austin but if I did I would be going to this arcade a lot.

This place is the closest you may get to a "Japanese game center"-style arcade without going to an anime convention (or to California). And in that regard, it's fantastic: you can find Beatmania, Jubeat, Pop'n Music, Sound Voltex, Gitadora (both guitar and drums!), Chunythm, Initial D, and more here. The venue is generally clean, all machines I've tried have well kept controllers, and even support network play! All for $0.50~1.50 per play. This place keeps a low profile and doesn't look like much from the o

I absolutely LOVED this place cause it has so many games that never saw a American release so it was nice playing these games for the first time. Definitely will come back when i return to Austin!

I literally love this place. I come at least twice a week to play jubeat! Everyone has been so nice in teaching me how to play. George is also the sweetest person, always a great help! It feels like original austin.

I first went here yesterday(I was the guy in the Iron Maiden shirt). I had read about this place when it was located off of Speedway. The recent move to this location makes it a little closer to home. Always wanted to check it out. And, I'm glad I did. I was pretty stoked to see a Touhou arcade machine. I also got to try out rhythm games I had seen from vids, but, not in person. JuBeat & Nostalgia ended up being the main rhythm games I tried out. Definitely would come back again for the welcome reprieve fro

Great selection of fighting and rhythm games. Helpful staff. Largely reasonable prices - 50 cents per 10 minutes on the PS4 machines. Some of the other games can get a bit pricy, however - the Initial D racing game is $1.25 per session.

Welcoming group you can tell it's a set group that goes and they are all super nice and welcoming

My go-to hangout spot with my friends! Never dissatisfied with the experience and after a hard week? Definitely needed these days. Classic arcade games like Tekken Tag, Melty Blood, In The Groove, and japan imports such as Initial D or Ju-beat! Perfect arcade right here! Amazing people too! Always fun to talk about the little machines they got and play a few rounds.

Really cool Japanese games you don't often see.

I went here a few days ago and as soon as I walked in knew something was off. Nobody at the front just people in the back playing a few of the games. I didn't know you needed some kind of company card to put money on so I can play the games. And the machine that puts money on cards was "out of order" so I wonder how there was people playing the games... Not a very good looking place either. There are other arcades in the Austin and surrounding areas that have way more games anyway.

I love this super cool arcade!! Staff is awesome and friendly. Lots of Japanese games that you rarely see in the US. Intriguing place. I will definitely be back - wish I lived closer!! Thank you for being a unique, local one of a kind business in Austin!

Super cool Japanese arcade tucked away off Burnet road. There's a whole sub culture here, and that makes it even cooler. First time I've been, but won't be the last

Great place! They host fighting game tournaments and have lots of interesting rhythm games that you typically can't get anywhere else. The place is well managed and the place has a nice, cozy vibe.

This place is great. A solid arcade filled with loads of different machines and even obscure, rarely seen or played games. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, and the prices per play can ensure that $10 spells hours of entertainment.

I love playing my game pump it up im korean so it makes me happy i recommended anyone who loves japanese and korean games to come here

Cheap, 50 cents gets you 10 minutes on most games. Others are still only $1 for things like dancing/racing. Super chill atmosphere, plenty of fans for the gamer sweats lol. Cool people too! Can't go wrong with arcade ufo

Press buttons, stomp feet, throw punches, be happy. They take good care of you here.

As a fan of Japanese rhythm games, this place is a hidden gem within Austin. With a custom In The Groove machine and one of the latest Pump It Up machines, there is a massive catalog of songs to move your arrow stomping feet to. Throw in the selection of fighting games and a few old school beat em ups and you have yourself a wonderful time. The prices are incredibly fair and reasonable!

Amazing games, staff and atmosphere. Highly reccomend.

It's an underground arcade filled with Japanese fighting and rhythm games. If that's your thing, this place is perfect. The people who run this place are super friendly and will help you out on your journey to ruining your life being addicted to these games. They run the place out of passion, not for money.

Had a great time. Definite stop for arcade gamers, though it was a bit crammed and with limited parking. Machines were well maintained and the staff helpful. I also appreciated their website which included their current game list.

Super fun arcade. Nice and small. Wasn't very busy on a Sunday night. Some games have instructions only in Japanese.

Really enjoy coming here. I play the rhythm games, which I can't find anywhere else. The staff is really cool and often way good at the games, so they're fun to watch. Small, so you might miss it but worth coming if that's something you enjoy.

Small and crowded. Really was expecting more options other JUST fighting games I felt. Better time with the wife at Pinballz. Sad after I dropped $20 on a card expecting more. Now it's been sitting in my wallet for almost 2 months.

After reading some of the (few) negative reviews, I just wanted to provide some context on what this place is and isn't. Ask yourself the following questions. Are you: - Looking for a place like Chuck E. Cheese to entertain your little kids for the afternoon? - A basic Chad who wants to slam IPAs at a ?barcade,? wandering over periodically to play some Arcade 1Up machines in the corner for five minutes at a time? - A middle aged individual hoping to bask in the warm glow of 80s nostalgia, immersing yoursel

Best japanrese arcade I've been to in the US in modern times. Top notch games and very well maintained. Also, kudos to whoever put Pocari Sweat into vending machine. Nice touch.

I play Marvel versus Capcom 2. The dude working there was nice enough to temporarily put it on a machine for my friends and I to play for 8 hours. The place isn't big, but if there's a game that you want to play that's not on display, just ask, the might be able to hook you up.

Wonderful place! Small on claw machines but 20 bucks for 2 hours of fun was worth it!! *Machines can vary from 25 cents a play and a max of 1 dollar from what we played* Parking isnt that great so be careful!!

The only place where you gonna be able to find Initial D cabinet in Austin and it's very well-maintained and great place to hang out in a great community. There will always love this place.

Great arcade with a good variety of rhythm and fighting games. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is super helpful and kind!

They have a Dance Dance Revolution (In The Groove) cabinet modded with tons of custom songs and charts on top of every DDR and ITG mix. $1.00 for 4 songs and the pads are in excellent shape. They also have Pump It Up, IIDX (didn't check the mix), and a bunch of fighting games. I'm really glad to see a rhythm/bemani gaming arcade in Austin. Awesome place with nice staff!

Cool experience. Some truely diehard gamers there. They took up a lot of the games so I only got to play a few. Small place so it made it hard to move around. Also their AC isnt able to keep up with the heat from games n that many people. Still I'd go back again. The man on staff was friendly and so was everyone there. Seems like this is a hang out spot for the area as most people seemed to know each other.

Crisp PIU pads, very rhythm game player friendly setup. Rare to find arcades like this nowadays (and I check in every city I visit). Happy to see it doing well.

We were visiting Austin from the next city over and found this arcade. It was pretty cool, had a great selection of games and the staff was very friendly! My favorites there are Jubeat (running Clan), Pop?n Music (running Peace with a new cabinet), Sound Voltex (Heavenly Haven) and Nostalgia Forte which they just added and I played for the first time yesterday (we visited Tuesday and Friday). Some other games are ITG and Pump It Up Prime 2. They have a vending machine with snacks and drinks, and a machine s

Awesome arcade games, with a focus on fighting games and rhythm games. They have a few SHMUPs by CAVE and a few other odds and ends. The prices are competitive, for an hour and a half I payed 10 dollars! Great stuff.

I don't really review stuff but I feel like people who have never been there need this information. First the customer service is not that great, they can't really help you if you were trying to get a 5$ card to play games and wanted to cancel leaving you to only lose whatever money you put it. Next the games are okay but if it's broken or out of order you just waste your money on a game because there is no sign or notice but the scanner will still take your money. And lastly there is not a large amount of

I wanted to like this place, but it was hard to because it was filthy, unkept, smelly and many of the machines are only in Japanese, which made it impossible to know which options I was picking. They had Tetris and Street Fighter, but all other games were foreign. The two side by side racing games don't connect with two players, which was unexpected.

Came here with a friend and spent a least forty bucks trying almost every single thing once. The best way to get here is by bike (there is a dedicated bike lane on Speedway) or taking the IF or #5. There is very little parking.

great games in good condition not too expensive

I've wanted to play Spica Adventure ever since it came out in 2005 and it was unfortunately left in Japan. This may be the only arcade in the US to have this great game! Nice candy cab selection to play on and a good mix of Japanese shooters, puzzle games (Azumanga Daioh Puzzle Bobble was another pleasant surprise), fighters, and music games. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for a slice of Akiba in Texas!

Small one room arcade with some fun games. We had a great time for about an hour and $10. One (double) DDR, one off brand "DDR" I hadn't seen before but looked fun! Plenty of street parking in the area.

Great local arcade with lots of fighting games, classics and recent ones! Friendly people and cheap rechargeable cards to play the games. Definitely a highlight in my visit to Austin!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are retro games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.

Are rhythm games in arcades still good in this modern age?

Yes, rhythm games in arcades are a vibrant hit in 2025! Titles like Dance Dance Revolution and Beatmania deliver high-energy fun, blending music, movement, and precision. Modern machines boast vivid displays, booming sound systems, and diverse song libraries, from J-pop to EDM. They challenge reflexes and rhythm, with competitive leaderboards and tournaments fostering a lively community. Arcade dance floors are regularly packed, proving rhythm games’ immersive, physical thrill keeps them a standout in today’s gaming scene.
