Incredible, community driven arcade! This is a very special place. Araiguma is an amalgamation of the hardcore game center/arcade cultures of the east and west. It's difficult to articulate the passion, dedication and expertise that emanates from this place, much like the glow of the meticulously designed and installed LED lighting. Araiguma embodies the spirit of the arcade gamer with core values such as dedication, consistency, selflessness, empathy, and both the sharing and hunger for knowledge. In the
I have only been here once. And I can already say this is one of the most important spots for arcade culture in this area. The energy here is lovely and it was a treat to step in and see what felt like a gallery of pure passion radiate throughout the whole venue. If you love fighting games, make sure to pay a visit to the strongest arcade.
Been attending events with the organization for almost two years, and it's legitimately changed my life. Cool people, great setups and games, and always growing and trying new things. It really is the most powerful arcade in the world!
Araiguma is the greatest place in Champaign Urbana, the community are the coolest, nicest people in the world and the competition is fierce! Fighting game lovers will be right at home here, and you can find people to play most any fighting game on a Saturday night.
Had no idea this was here and just stumbled in on it. Be sure to leave a donation
Friendly community & fun events. There is stuff beyond arcade games to play too!
Went here with a few friends to check it out. Definitely worth the visit. Everyone was very friendly and the owner showed us the building. They were super supportive of helping out newer players and getting us comfortable with the area.
Araiguma has been the best part of my life since I arrived. An amazing place, with amazing people. Stop by even if you're not that into fighting games.
The people here are wonderful, and the experience is a joy. If you are in the area and love fighting games, this is the place to go!!
Cool space but more importantly cool people keeping FGC arcades up and running ????

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
