We went here for the first time recently to celebrate the kid's finished school year. We rented a lane for two hours and had four of us bowling. The staff was very friendly and helped us get the bumpers up. The kids really enjoyed it!
Booked a party for a my teen son the day before the actual event. The lady I spoke to that helped me decide on the party was very helpful and patient. It was so easy. Everything was set up for the teenagers when they arrived. The food table/buffet was nice and food was brought out at the time I requested. It was the easiest party I think I have ever done. The manager, personally introduced himself, and made sure I knew that he would help in any way needed.
AMF Lynchburg offers entertainment for the entire family. It is a unique location to host birthday parties ?? for the kids and grandkids.
Hours are listed but not followed. They close at 11pm and I arrived at 10:10pm. I walked in to see several groups enjoying beverages and food. I was told sorry but we just closed. It took me 15 minutes to walk from my hotel! If your hours are posted, keep to them or change them. Thanks for the exercise but I'm still hungry!
I used to like coming here but the guy working today is incompetent. My son his friend and I bowled 3 games and on the screen it said bowl 2 games and the 3rd is 50% off. So we bowled 3 games, went to pay and he said you didn't ask for the special. I should have asked him he didn't asked to be special either but here we are. If the kids wouldn't have been with me we would've had words.! Won't be coming back!
Unfortunately we had a bad experience. We had several students college playing next to our bowling lane, they were reckless throwing the bowling balls, at some point one of them threw the ball that got into our lane and hit the bar that brings the pins into the machine. I reported the incident but nothing was done from management.
Kids had such a great time. Kids Fest was an awesome event. I wish there were more games in the game room. The cookies were huge and they were only $1.00, the drinks were $1.00 as well. It was several lanes in between each bowling party due to Covid. I will definitely be back in the future. Great customer service, every single employee was kind and informative. This was my 1st time back since Covid and it was still as I remembered. The sanitizer the balls between customers and wiped down the tables.
My son and myself were thrilled that they are open during the Christmas holiday so that we actually had something fun to do The guy that was working the area that you rent the bowling shoes from was extremely helpful and very nice! We will be back! *I have learned that the awesome man behind the counter is named Steven! He was a blast! He taught both myself and my son on what we needed to do. ??
We had my daughter's 6th birthday party here and the kids had a blast! Everyone was so friendly and eager to help. We will host parties here in the future!
The food here is fantastic!! People are nice, the rented shoes are clean and comfortable, and the lanes are smooth. They even have a really fun arcade. I will be back here!
We had my daughters 8th birthday party at AMF, We had plenty of space and privacy. Every staff member we came into contact with was wonderful and we were very well taken care of. The food was good as well as punctual. We will be returning.
When we came in, I told Steven "we have 5 people to bowl one game each, and we need 3 shoe rentals, us two adults have our own bowling shoes." He says "I accidentally rang you up for 5 rentals of shoes, wheb you check out a manager will have to fix it." We bowl our one game, and go tocheckout one hour later and I ask if he can get a manager to take the 2 shoe rentals off. He says "I didn't charge you for 5 rentals." I asked him to look it up, he did. He says he can't fix it and proceeds to do nothing. I ask
Fun place, drinks are pretty expensive but thats just the name of the game for entertainment joints. Will come again.
This is the first time I been here. We had my son's birthday party here and it was great. Everyone had alot of fun. The employees were great and very friendly. I was surprised by just how much food you get with the party package. The food tasted really good. We were surprised because most times food is only ok at places like this. We will definitely be coming back and probably have another party there. I gave it 4 stars only because I think they should of have a few more employees working with it being busy
Visited with a large group a few weeks ago and was very pleased. While we had to wait a while for lanes to come available, mainly due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, it was a nice evening. The place was fairly well clean, and the food that was ordered was out fast. Staff was also very friendly and willing to help us when we had an issue with the lane not resetting. Overall I cannot say too much bad. Very well run AMF.
Was a clean environment, had fun and would go back.
The workers there that make the food were very very kind! The food is amazing, it's worth going there.
For bowling it can't be beat. As for "billiards", there IS one, sad $1 a game table. You have to ask for the cues and, for heaven's sake, bring your own cue chalk! The "arcade" is a sorry collection of, maybe, 6 machines in the same alcove as the pool table, 2 of which are actual video games, 2 are claw machines, and one is a key game scam. If you want to bowl with friends, come here. Plenty of lanes...just make sure the kiddies are down for the night. The bar is a bit pricy but a decent selection to choos
We had a birthday party for my granddaughter. It was wonderful. The food was delicious and plenty of it. We really had a wonderful time. Thanks to the staff for such a wonderful time.
My two grandsons and I had a great time. We lived the atmosphere. The guy helping us was great, too. We spent over an hour here and spent less than two meals at fast food.
In most ways it's a bowling alley, right, so not a lot to review, but the game room, it is really nice, and the staff are phenomenal and for an amf, the food is actually cooked right? It doesn't taste like the floor of my mechanic shop.
Clean, modern atmosphere. Good bowling experience. Very expensive though ? it cost $46.81 for my husband and I to rent shoes and bowl two games. Food was okay but portions felt small for the price (in addition to the $46.81 for bowling, it was $7.81 for a handful of fries and two average size chicken strips)
Fairly inexpensive for an evening out
Very clean, fun, staff was incredibly nice and helpful.
If you're looking for a one-stop-shop to throw a birthday party, I highly recommend AMF! We had my son?s 10th birthday party there this afternoon, and it was a great experience. The cost ended up being pretty comparable to the jump park or skating rink, coming in at about $370 for 10 bowlers. We booked a package that included everything we needed for 7 crazy boys and a few good-sport parents (actually MORE than we needed!): shoes for 10, 2 hours of bowling, pizzas, a pile of chicken tenders and fries, unli
Had a great time. The place was clean and fun.
Had a very good time, great family oriented.
Great place, food was quick and hot. Overall great night
Staff was lovely. There was a team of two working the food service with multiple simultaneous parties on a weekday afternoon, but they were cheerful and working as fast as they could. We had a great time.
1 star only because i have to. I heard from a few people that the Lburg AMF was no good but decided to try them out anyway. Should have listened. The food was not good and they gave us the wrong drinks. They argued with us about the drinks. I heard them say "the dude in the green hat is a troublemaker, hes making things hard for me." I was the only "dude" in a green hat and if she thinks i am a troublemaker then she has no idea...because i spoke politely, i did not raise my voice and remained nice despite h
Walking in I was a little confused. I didnt fully understand what was the desk to start a game. The shoes were true size. The kitchen staff was POOR. We ordered food before we started a game. The lady that took our order was distracted by what was going on around her so placing the order was frustrating. Our mixed drinks were good, but food came out when we were on our last bowl. I had asked halfway through the bowl about the food and the chef said "We will bring it to you"
Very clean, but very expensive. But still had fun.
This is my second disappointing experience here. The first time, we had signed up for a special which was 2 hours of bowling. Our lanes continuously messed up and the mechanic who was sitting in the snack bar repeatedly ignored the calls for help or took an exceptionally long time unblocking our pins. The front desk person would move our lanes. Complete waste of money. This time the snack bar personnel was extremely rude. I ordered a pizza, fries, and a pitcher of soda. The lady said she couldn't sell me a
The staff was fantastic. They have updated the place and is really nice. The food is typical ally food. Nothing special. Its pricier than other places in the area. But much nicer.
Classic bowling ally, everything you would expect. Local leagues and tournaments are held here at this location. Facility is clean and well kept.
I haven't been bowling in over 18 months. I was surprised to see the new renovations, much better food, and great service. The staff is friendly and the bowling was fun!
Place looks great, but didn't wanna wait 45 minutes, so we went to Fort Hill Bowling... No wait.
Wanted to write a longer review but not worth my time. Long story short, prices are way to high, customer service was horrible, and they handled a situation in the worst way possible which embarrassed my family and I. Management gave a young lady too much control and power, which she abused when training another young lady. They call themselves a family place but it's not family oriented at all. I've never seen a bowling alley that charges $7 for shoes and $7 per game for each person. Also, a pitcher of bee
Nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, good food. Wheelchair friendly
Twas lovely. Staff was friendly & accommodating. The seating is arranged oddly like Covid times... if there's 2 parties sharing the same control board, the party on the left has their table & chairs arranged normal; whilst the party on the right has all their seats & table like 10ft+ further back. Tis inconvenient to carry on normal chatter cuz If ur by the ball return u can't make out what anyone is trying to say, they'd have to get up & walk up to u. Everyone has that person in their party that never pays
We attended an event at this location and while the event organizers are to be greatly appreciated they couldn't have pulled it off without the support of a great staff here at the venue! Food was great! Staff was friendly and professional and it's definitely a place we will visit again to enjoy the bowling as a family!
I always have a great time when I go here. My only complaint is that sometimes the wait staff could be a bit more attentive. They don't want you going up to the counter to order anymore but sometimes it takes 20+ minutes before someone comes over to you. That's even happened when there were only a few people bowling so it wasn't crowded. They could wipe the tables down a bit better. Other than that, they're always pretty friendly and it's mostly clean.
It was okay for the kids and we all didn't have any problems I could see it being hard to find a good ball if it got busy. Food is over priced. There is a full bar though. Nachos is the best bet.. fyi
Had a great time! Friendly service is always a great feeling. Food was as expected. They have awesome deals and packages I wasn't aware of previously making me want to visit again soon.
Me and buddies went bowling here and weren't instructed specifically on how to use coupons so ended up getting charged way more than supposed to . when told military was involved they said the price would remain the same . Manager thought it was wise to instigate and ask if we were ok knowing we were upset and make us more unhappy to the outcome rather than help us . we spent a lot of money on drinks and food and was still not satisfied and hope the manager will improve and disclose information more clearly
I truly wish u could write this review without having to leave a single star! The service I encountered isn't even worth that. My first time at AMF will definitely be the last time. I had a coupon book I bought from a children's fundraiser and when I took the coupon up to the counter to use the girl at the counter said she had to confirm with her manager that they could actually use the coupon because she had never seen them before. She proceeds to come back and tells me they cannot honor the coupon. I aske
I come here once a year for a non-profit fundraiser. When are drinks set on the counter for 10 to 15 minutes while the staff was outside smoking I didn't complain. When two tables got their fried food 10 minutes before we did when I ordered 20 minutes earlier I went up to ask. We finally got it ten minutes later of course the order was wrong. When I went to take it back they slammed in the trash can and the gentleman cooking the food and I use them in lightly started hollerin about how he is having to cook
We had a great experience at AMF in Lynchburg. The staff was very friendly and attentive and immediately took care of an issue we had upon arriving. Their customer service was above and beyond and that is hard to find today! I rarely post comments but I was so pleased with the experience I wanted to share.
Terrible service. Arcade is sad. You have been warned. Went by on a Friday morning right when they opened at 11:00 AM. We were the only people there at the time. Lady at the counter was incredibly hard to understand and didn't seem familiar with anything. Had to put a credit card on hold just to bowl when were going to pay cash? What is this a hotel? It was incredibly dark in there and we asked if they could turn on the lights. Nope, when we asked why it was because it wasn't a league day. C'mon it's 11 AM
Great food and they have updated the lanes since the last time I was there!
Nice bowling alley, but the workers .... Not so much. I went back and January, and everytime I bought food, the guy who worked there wouldn't let me pay right then. He told me I could settle up at the end . I thought it was very strange, because I told him I wanted to pay then . Come to find out he was "up charging" us on our meals. I highly doubt it was an accident , because when my daughter ordered her food, he tried to get her to up grade her meal. When she told him no thanks ,he kept pushing. I told her
I normally don't write reviews, but this was just bad. Most of the staff was incredibly rude, the food was mediocre (and took 20 minutes just to get their attention to order the food) and the lane kept messing up. The only good part about it were the girls at the register, they were kind. As for the rest of the staff, they all seemed to hate their job and were very rude.
We have been going here for a few weeks now. They have Tuesday night drink and cheaper game specials. It is always a good time. Broke my all time best of 181 last time so can't complain. Wish the drinks were a little higher quality but for the price they work.
Great atmosphere for the kids and even better time for parents on date nights
Dude, this place was great! It had way more lanes than the one on Liberty?s campus and most of them were open. Also the employee was nice. I would highly recommend. The prices weren't even that bad. The only thing is that I have a membership to the Liberty one so I will mostly go there because it's free for me.
Lots of fun for affordable prices. The only downside is that they are low staffed... Spent 10 minutes getting shoes upon arrival, 15 minutes for a pitcher of beer to be walked down to us, and 25 minutes trying to pay/leave.
We had 2 adults n 6 kids and played 2 games each. The man that checked us all in was very pleasant. However we had to keep resetting one lane to roll 2nd ball. When we ordered food they were out of mozzarella sticks and were out of one of the drinks we wanted. The food was good, that we did eat. Then the shocker came, it cost us $110 just to bowl. That was ridiculous ?? This was on a Tuesday night not even a weekend. Definitely won't be taken the kids back there.
The family had a blast! Shoe rental was quick and easy and they smelled great. Great family friendly place. Go, create some memories and have a blast!
Bowling seemed like a fun idea to make the best of a Sunday afternoon spent running errands in Lynchburg. The nostalgia I had for bowling as a kid, something I wanted to share with my little ones, quickly dissipated when we started bowling and our lane wouldn't reset all the pins between players. The lane stopped responding all together several times over frames. The place was almost empty. I could see the other group playing was having the same problem with the machine not resetting all the bowling pins b
Worst food service I've ever experienced. You need to hire people who can move faster than a snail. Great front desk girl but the people running the food / bar area need to go. I understand needing a job but if you can move at a pace to keep up with demand think about a career change. And to top it off the lady had a smerk on her face when she was serving it to me. Love the bowling but I'll eat before I come here next time
Absolutely terrible service and customer service. Food they gave us was cold. They decided to remake it but it came within 20 minutes of our time being up. We spent over 200 dollars and wasted time running back and forth trying to figure out what was going on. Manager did nothing besides remake the food. Disgusted and I'll never use an AMC again. Thanks for the experience
We had a company outing there for boyfriend's work and had a great time. Bowling is good exercise and an enjoyable pastime. We had a four hour time frame for food and gaming which meant 4 games each lane and all had an enjoyable time with good food and friendly competition ??.
If you want to pay ridiculous prices this is the place for you. It was almost $100 for four people to bowl for two games. I am an avid bowler and I have NEVER paid anything close to this. Why raise your prices AND ADD A COVID ADMIN FEE ON FOOD AND BOWLING...? We will have to find something more cost effective to do as a family. It is a shame because the food from the grill was actually very good.
Very expensive when it's a cheap dirty looking building and the workers in the kitchen lazy, they didn't even acknowledge us until we said something. Will not come back.
Nice place. I didn't like the lanes Personally but my friends fond it nice
Place has seriously gone down hill! First of all, way, way, way over priced! $11 per person is a bit extreme considering: 1) waited forever to get a lane because they were short staffed 2) original lane we were placed on was non-working 3) moved to another lane where you could literally see the boards of the floor coming up at the foul lane, lane looked like it hasn't been cleaned and waxed in months 4) Covid admin fee?? Seriously?? For what? The staff that's not there? The maintenance that is not happening
The line wasn't long, but the person working was SO slow it took forever to get checked in, and then to buy another game. You had to pay for refreshments at the front too, so that took 20 minutes out of our game just to order. It was very expensive and very disorganized.
Clean lanes and good music. Went there for free because a friend invited me, but didnt explain very well. When we got there, we tried to explain to the staff, who didnt want to help us at all. When we saw our friend, we went to go get him to explain, and the staff followed us like we were about to steal; then when they explained, the staff still kept giving us side eyes while getting our shoes. Had a good time, but really guys? You guys got a problem with people trying to steal games?
I got a last minute invite to a birthday party for my nieces and friends. It was PERFECT. They dimmed the lights and let them go for overtime. It was beautiful. Much love to AMF and staff. I'm crying now typing this, thanks y'all!
First time bowling in at least 10 years. Went for some Christmas entertainment with my ggrandkids. The people were friendly and helpful. I really don't have anything to compare it too but we had fun and I would have trouble recommending this place to you. We had nothing to eat or drink so this recommendation is for the facilities, employees, and bowling only.
This place is always clean and the food selection, while overpriced, has amazing variety. Their prices run pretty average for a game. Also, they have several different accommodation options for your little ones or those with special needs. Overall would recommend.
Very nice bowling alley. My husband brought me here for my birthday and we had a ball. The staff is very friendly. Richard helped us and was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back with friends and family.
We had a good time. Still learning how to bowl.
Wish that I could give zero stars. Waited to be greeted at the counter for close to 10 minutes while the manager joked around with friends. Foods expensive and staff was unfriendly. Asked for a splash of sada water to get a stain out and she tried to charge for a full drink! When I asked for the manager I was met rudeness and attitude as if I had asked for something rediculous. I will never be bowling there again.
Bowling was fun. Food was ok. Drinks were good. Arcade needs more games instead of claw machines
It's what you would expect from AMF. It's a cleaner version of AMF Durham. everyone seemed to be having a good time. Prices are average. pool table in the game area was broken during my visit.
Paid for a private party and catering. Food and drinks were good, but lanes kept breaking down and we wasted a huge amount of our time hunting down staff to fix them instead of bowling. They gave us free vouchers to return, but a partial refund would've been more appropriate.
Was very run down. Hadn't been since my son was 5. Figured now that he was 16, we'd try something out of the norm. We did not stay to play. Stopped by the game room first to shoot pool. The cue ball was missing so we had to give my i.d. for them to hold. Then the balls came out and there was no 8 ball. Staff lifted table and dropped it to see if it was stuck inside.... The table leg broke. We just got my I.d. and money back and left.
It's very accommodating for birthday parties, prices are reasonable, food is good!
Kaitlyn was very nice and professional.
bowling would be fun. We went to play pool with the family. We had a nice time because we were out with the family. But if you're serious about playing a good game of pool, this isn't the place. 1 pool table 2 sticks. all in bad shape and no chalk. Gave it 4 stars for bowling because, well it's a bowling alley. Also food is expensive!
Food staff was extremely rude, refused to believe that my lactose intolerant mother asked specifically for cheese. Then snarked back when I attempted to order a drink. Charged extra for every little thing and was extremely rude and incompetent.
Very fun. Was only there for 2 hours. 5 of us had dinner and shared 2 pitchers of beer. , 4 of us bowled 3 games. Our total bill was over $200 dollars. Very expensive. $$$
The bowling alley was packed so it was a little difficult to find a ball that worked for each of my group however, we still had a blast! Some of the alcoholic beverages were out of stock but other than that I would absolutely return!
Well believe covid not a issue there food was raw and seen the white cashier screwing a guy in parking lot like get real swear it was her boss....covid is serious and so are my barbecue wings ... save your money and keep your health.... also think they over charged my card.. smh keep bowling go to fort av..lynchburg strong
A player on our football team recently had traveled with his family to Lynchburg, VA and lost his championship football ring while on vacation. He didn't know where he had lost it at and thought it was long gone. The manager Tyler Heislup went above and beyond to find out whom the ring belonged too and returned it to us. Thank you so much Tyler for your generosity. The ring has found its way back to the player and he is so happy you kept it and looked for somewhere to return it. We would recommend this bowl
The management has a habit of scheduling hardly any employees to deal with a lot customers at their crowded promotional events, such as Sunday night bowling. Because of this, you have to deal with long wait times at the register. Some of the staff is friendly, however, others are rude and unprofessional. That's probably because they have the IQ of a low grade moron.
Kids had fun. Wait staff favored some lanes over other's which meant it was hard to get drink service. They would not serve directly from the snack bar.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Absolutely, retro games in arcades remain a thrilling draw in 2025! Classics like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter II offer simple yet addictive gameplay, blending nostalgia with timeless challenge. Modern arcade cabinets often feature crisp displays and restored controls, enhancing the experience. These games thrive on quick reflexes and strategy, with vibrant pixel art and iconic soundtracks that spark joy. Arcades host tournaments and leaderboards, fostering a lively community. While modern games dominate, retro titles provide a unique, accessible thrill that keeps arcades buzzing.
Yes, pool tables in arcades remain a fantastic draw in 2025! Games like 8-ball or 9-ball offer tactile, skill-based fun that blends strategy and precision. Modern tables feature smooth felt, responsive cues, and vibrant designs, enhancing the classic experience. Arcades foster a social vibe with casual matches or competitive tournaments, appealing to all skill levels. Unlike digital games, pool’s physicality—lining up shots, feeling the cue’s weight—keeps it timeless.
