AMF Centereach Lanes

AMF Centereach Lanes

Reviews Summary

AMF Centereach receives mixed reviews, with many praising friendly staff, clean facilities, and good lane conditions, while others criticize inconsistent lane oiling, outdated equipment, and occasional poor customer service. Positive experiences highlight attentive service, fun atmosphere, and decent food, especially during group events. Negative feedback focuses on high prices, unprofessional staff behavior, and issues with lane maintenance. The alley seems well-suited for casual bowlers and group outings, though serious bowlers may find technical shortcomings frustrating. Don't use a Groupon otherwise you will be forever on a waiting list. they will intentionally tell you reasons why they can't seat you and if you try to make reservations online you will not be able to use your Groupon. ultimately Groupon and AMF are working together to make it so you can't use the Groupon and you just waste your money. the staff will be rude and obnoxious and give you lies about the reasoning behind why they can't seat you.

It was great they has my grandson's birthday party there the people were wonderfully with all the kids. The place was clean and also a great place to just go to get out and enjoy.

This bowling alley is awesome!!! We love bowling!! We had our son's 11th Birthday Party there and the children had so much fun!! Great time and the food was really good!! The pizza was really good!! Anthony, the party host, did such an excellent job taking care of us and our guests!! Thank you so much for making our son's birthday an enjoyable experience!! :D

Came here with our 5 kids in the rain with a Groupon and it was not honored due to missing the fine print. Bella would not offer any discount and charged full price so we had to pack up and leave.

Amazing customer service! Deena and Bella are the best, Paula is great too! The lanes are always great!

We both grew up going here but it was almost twenty years since we came. Different coat of paint, same bowling alley. The bartender Jack was cool AF. The girls working the desk were nice. The themes on lanes were corny but unique. Good bowling alley overall. Not too expensive either

Management staff is super cool, very accommodating to both the public and league bowlers. Lanes are well-taken care of compared to other alleys I've been to leaving your experience filled with fun. Check out Amf Centereach soon!

Great place to spend a late night. Good oil on the lanes

Absolutely delightful staff. Good food though few options. Spacious atmosphere. I would get rid of the TVs with the music videos on them, though

I like it there, it's not new and fancy, not I bowl in a league there which I enjoy, the people are really nice, it's often quiet when you go at the right times, which I enjoy.

Let me start out with how much of a great time this place was. A fantastic place to get out of the house for the night. Great staff, great lanes and more!

I am a horrendous bowler, allow me to preface with this. I went with 2 other friends from out of state. The alley was configured in such a way that there was a field trip or some sort of kids event on one side and we were on the other side with a few other adults on other lanes. The bowling alley is configured like a right angle, so the two sides were completely separate which I thought was really nice. There's also a very small arcade with a handful of machines which we played. They also offer concession s

Good lanes as they are never to dry. Can play a lot of lines. Great for serious bowlers and recreational players. Really cold beer in pitchers. Rare for houses. Good spot. But pricy since it's AMF

Great bowling alley! Clean lanes, friendly staff, and a fun atmosphere. Perfect for a night out with friends or family."

Booked a group event for six people on a Friday. $60 a person included 2.5 hours of bowling, shoe rental, top shelf open bar and 3 platters of food. We had a great time and the staff at AMC Centereach were very attentive and hard working. Everything was ready upon arrival with NO wait time! We will definitely be back!

About $7 per game and $7 for shoes, but they usually have deals like play two games get the third half price, and they have other promotions throughout the week. The food is a little overpriced but what do you expect from a bowling alley. My dad and I go bowling here nearly every weekend and we always have a great time. And the staff is ALWAYS nice.

This place is stuck in the early 90's... renovation sorely needed. Pins kept falling down when a new frame started at least 1:6 1:7 times which for any semi serious bowler is rediculous. Also they don't have the technology to raise the bumpers for the kids and then lower them, it's either up or down....bummer. Go elsewhere.

Found this spot to be pricey for what it is. Shoe rental was 6.00 , $8.00 per person for 1 game ??next time will go to Bowlero in Commack has specials, even on holidays.

This experience my be long winded but worth it. I booked a 13th birthday party for my son 2 weeks ago for 10 kids. Only 5 could show. We postponed it for this weekend hoping schedules would change with his guests. As the day came we come to find out that NOBODY WAS COMING. My husband and I were going to make the most of it for his sake even though he was clearly hurt. As we entered and saw the chaffing dishes for food set up and all that we planned for made it that much worse. My son was distraught. After 4

Been bowling in leagues here the last few years. Lanes are always in great condition and food and drinks are always made perfect. The center is very clean and the staff is amazing.

I heard alot about the proshop online and I was not disappointed, Both people that helped me were great I forgot the younger guys name but Joe was awesome! Even offered to carve my name in my custom ball for my birthday! Thank you so much!????

Very happy to have given these lanes a shot. Manager Steve "gets it" when it comes to the bowler experience. Cares about the conditions of the lanes and their consistency. Bowl 2 leagues here and may switch my 3rd league here mid season.

It was nice, everything functioning, clean. Only thing was they seemed a bit understaffed for a school break which led to extended waiting several times.

Amazing had a blast and the food was great too

First time back in quite a while and we had a great time. Staff was especially gracious and friendly. Food came quickly and was good pub fare. Ryan at the desk was over the top gracious and friendly to get us all set up with our lane. We were thrilled and will be back soon with our family.

Enjoyed bowling here with my 2 grandsons. Staff was friendly and patient. They responded quickly when there was an issue with the pins resetting. Food was good.

Bowl on 2 leagues here for years! No Complaints ????

Everyone in our group had a great night at Bowlero! We wore moonwalking shoes, sipped moonshining drinks, and pretended to be moonlighting alley professionals. We didn't fool anyone. gutter, gutter, five; gutter, gutter, eight; nutter butter seven; vegetarian in the tenth. Paula, our lovely and entertaining bartender, can strike up a fun conversation just as fast as she can strike down ten pins. An accomplished bowler in her own right, she also spins a perfect vibe game, and leaves nothing to spare. Even th

I grew up in Centereach. I don't play in a league, but have been here a number of times throughout the years. I recently visited again for a work get-together for Christmas. It's bowling. Had a fun time. The lanes screens seem to have been updated. They did freeze a few times, telling you to wait until it caught up. The food is your typical you have no choice but to eat it, otherwise go hungry for hours. Think Chuck E. Cheese. The women's bathroom wasn't too clean either. I think the fun time I mentioned ea

"While the bowling lanes at this establishment are quite enjoyable, providing a great atmosphere for a fun time with friends, I must express my disappointment in the staff's behavior. Unfortunately, the service was marred by a rather rude and hushed demeanor, leaving much to be desired in terms of customer service. It's my hope that the management addresses this issue to enhance the overall experience for patrons."

Had a great time however when we arrived we were told the cost was $10/ game so we played 4 games, only to find out when we were leaving it was 10/ game/ person and doubled our cost. Definitely wouldn't have played 4 games. We had a great time but it really put a damper on things. Wish they were more upfront when we came in.

The lanes were nice and a very kind man helped my group find the balls we needed. However, the place is in need of renovations. The bathrooms were dirty and my group went up to several times to get food and drinks and nobody was there at all attending to the bar or snack counter. We decided not to get anything anyway because of how gross the snack area looked. Overall a good time though.

Very nice Bowling Alley, friendly personnel. They have a bar area that has Pool and Darts. Bowling Pricing and specials that they run are very reasonable. I go there weekly.

The best bowling place you will ever go to.

this is one of the best bowling alleys i?ve been to in years. the staff are always friendly and helpful and the alley itself is always clean and lively. they have good specials, good music, and good food.

I went as a chaperone for Athletics for All. AMAZING! The Centereach Lanes did a fantastic job welcoming and accommodating the students. When I had the opportunity to look around, I was impressed by the amenities available for a fun grown-up date night that wouldn't break the bank. I forgot how much I loved bowling. I'll be bringing my husband soon.

My family was here on Sat night. Everyone from the time we walked in was friendly. We had an issue with our table, the staff came like a pit crew to fix it. We will definitely be returning.

Went for a kids party, it's nice. Not as nice as other AMFs in the area though.

Wasted all my money only to learn they don't accept Groupon tickets on Saturday after 6p.m. I can understand they have such a policy and I offered them to pay for the difference but they refused. Moreover, I wasn't offered a refund. Drove back home very disappointed.

The waitress came immediately upon us sitting down and asked us for our order. I needed a minute to figure what we all wanted. Two hours later and after asking several times politely for someone to take our order we were never waited on again. I will never go there again. They are clearly under staffed for a place that was packed but at some point it seemed intentional that we were not waited on after tables on either side of us were helped ahead of us. It really made us wonder why we were ignored while o

Freshly renovated although kind of so so. 32 lane house. Bar drinks are on the expensive side. It's a bowling alley bar, not a night club. They would do better dropping prices and going for higher volume, but hey, that's my opinion. Decent bar area with two pool tables and has a separate arcade area. Nice snack bar area with grill.

Haven't bowled there yet. The bartender is awesome, love the retro looking bar stools. I went to drink and play billiards. Clean bar area, drinks were definitely heavy on the alcohol. Every time I'm in town i end up here playing billiards and it never disappoints. $1 a game and usually quiet in the billiards area. Only 2 tables but its nice. I dont like over packed places or too loud. Was playing great music, the older tunes. Plenty of seating and space.

I'm there every Sunday at 10 am, and for some reason I'll continue coming and torturing myself on a weekly basis. ?? The lanes are great though, I love the layout. Instead of your average two-sided bowling alley, it's an "L" shape with the bar and game rooms in the middle. One of my favorite spots to bowl on the island. They run a tight ship over there. Good people.

Nice place. Fun pay one price per person for 2 hrs. Bigger the group the harder it would be to get your monies worth. Nice bar BUT way over priced! Really enjoyed having a beer while bowling until we got the bill. We will either skip the bar OR go to a different ally next time.

Place is really nice. I like how they have two sides-- one with the lights on, and the other with dark, red lighting. Brings a nice lounge vibe. The bowling is great, my only complaint is that the lanes are a little too oiled up (at least the lane I was on). The food and drinks are great as well!

having fun with the family good place to come for birthday parties ??

Beware special needs caregivers: My adult children have special needs and they need someone to take them bowling. They need assistance unfortunately. The Centereach AMF charges me 2.50 per support aid as an admission fee. Support personal are not bowling they help the two disabled individual with eat, use the facilities, money exchange, etc., They are non verbal. Unfortunately we will not go there anymore. Do they charge parents to watch their children in Bowl or coached, etc.? It's not ethical at all.

I love this place largely a very friendly and helpful staff. Decent food. It's a bowling alley. Your not here for the steak. Haha. There's always an issue with the machines but that's nothing unique to this bowling alley. Lot of moving parts something always gets jammed. But they're always ready to fix the issue. My only real complaint is that the temperature. It's 12.19 for 2 hours make it an even 12 and turn down the heat to save the other 19 cents.

Clean, fun, safe experience for my friends and family. We went with a Groupon but will definitely be back. Their leagues sound like a lot of fun, too!

They closed an hour EARLY because the manager wanted to go home before the facility ACTUALLY closed. They kicked our entire group out, closed the bar, and closed the kitchen BEFORE the established times and had NO sympathy for our group who wanted to have a great time bowling. We were only allowed to bowl one game when we had plenty of time to bowl at least 3 hours. They REFUSED to serve us food and locked the doors behind us an hour before they were supposed to close. Very disappointed in this location as

We were there for a six year old girl's birthday party. The staff was very attentive and professional. It was set for 6 to 8pm but we went past that time and no rushing us out. Pizza and soda aplenty, over 20 kids and parents had a tremendous time and I would highly recommend them to my friends for their special occasions. The parents of the birthday girl were Zackary and Angela Keckley. You could not find a more welcoming and loving couple than they are. Bless them forever.

Great service. Charlie was great ??

I went there for the first time tonight. The manager was very helpful and the girl working the counter was super nice. I had a little issue with a groupon but they helped me out with a smile. I will be back place was awesome!

I had called ahead to place a reservation, but they would not allow it. There was a 20 minute wait for a lane. They had six different size bowling balls at each station already. Every other lane was being used. Shoes were sanitized when returned. Food can be ordered at the register.

Great fun, awesome food, large bar and much more than just bowling. Newly renovated with a friendly, knowledgeable staff and they even have a pro store complete with a long time expert that can provide you perfectly with all your bowling needs (shoes, balls, braces, repairs etc)

Went to AMF for their Tuesday night deals and a fun night with my cousins. We went to the bar to grab a drink and received easily the worst bartending service I have ever experienced by ?Annie?. She was extremely unprofessional. Questioned an entire group of legal drinkers after ID?ing and asking questions, was unaware of how to make the drinks listed on her menu without double or triple checking, and made rude and like I said earlier, unprofessional comments to me as I asked her to simply do her job. We pl

Not the cheapest place but its clean and they give everyone space. No pressure to get off the lane even when crowded. Food is good. We go quite often lately. Gets busy around 7-8pm.

First time here, and I wasn't happy that we had to prepay to bowl. I'm used to bowling as many games as I want and then paying at the end. Otherwise this place was ok. We order pizza, nachos and soda. It wasn't anything spectacular, bowling alley food. Lanes were good, enjoyed the cosmic bowling area, music was good, but the ladies bathroom needed to cleaned.

Not a bad place, but not the most dollar friendly either, lol. I don't ever remember bowling being so EXPENSIVE! Family of 4, three games each plus shoe rentals, some food and sodas... $158 bucks. They are clean and had plastic dividers up between the lanes to maintain social distancing. I would go back, but definitely at a different time of day to get a discounted lane price.

My son's loves bowling there the staff very nice

Nice lanes. They need to work a bit on the music though, but overall a nice ambiance for friends/family to spend a nice evening bowling. Reasonable deals. I heard you only have to pay for shoes on Mondays, haven't tried that out yet though

Went twice so far and had a great time. A bit pricey but the kids loved it and so did the adults. Any issues were quickly addressed.

Great place! My friends and i wanted to try something new so we decide to go bowling. Ill be honest our only issue was getting served but it wasnt too bad and the staff was very respectful and helpful. Other than that we had a blast! I honestly recommend!

Clean, well-maintained lanes and A++ service -- they opened up an hour early just to let my wife and I (who foolishly hadn't checked their hours before arriving) in! We had a great time and strongly recommend AMF Centereach Lanes to people who are looking to bowl in the area!

The staff is always very nice and helpful. The manager Steve is always working hard and takes the time to make us feel at home.

Great bowling alley for hanging with friends on a rainy day. They got Decently priced and a really nice bar.

Good run of the mill bowling alley.

I am here right now bowling and was given the 2 hrs deal which was a good idea by the manager. However for 5 persons we were given a single lane and told that limited lanes available. My expectation is 2 lanes We are bowling for last half hour and the lane right to us is available while 3 other lanes are free 17,19 and 20. Lanes 27 and 28th are also free now. I spoke to the manager and told him I felt I am been ripped off and he explain limited lanes , school holidays etc. This is unfair for a place we s

Horrible customer service when I went there a few weeks ago. The older gentleman at the counter, who seemed like the manager, was very rude and seemed annoyed at the questions I was asking. When leaving the establishment, my party and I said to the front desk very clearly, have a nice day ... no response. We said it two more times before we heard a response. They seemed annoyed at our presence. Will not be going back and don't recommend.

It was pretty good. Manager that night was a tad eccentric and odd but he meant well. We had fun. Kids had a good time. That's what's important.

Kind of dirty. Surprised they charge a full adult price for a 3 year old to also share our lane. Didn't offer a discount/child price, or recommend to just let the child bowl with us.

Had fun! Nice staff, especially Ryan. He is great! So efficient and friendly. I'll def be coming back!

Great place to spend and play with friends or family, food is perfect. Will def go back. Love the dim lighted part of the lanes. Less stressful to the eyes. Good clean fun!!

Terrible management. Wrong website prices. Total rip off. A waste of my time. Bad food don't get me started on the salty fries & overpriced coke choose a different a place please

The staff is always friendly and helpful. The place is kept neat and clean. Little to no problems with the lanes. Overhead scoring shows how to bowl to pickup the spare.

Easy checkin and processing from the staff. We Had a great time bowing for four. Definitely recommended

This alley is clean and staff is friendly. The alley works with the town to provide special needs bowlers a league atmosphere at an affordable price.

Had a family fun day for Mother's Day at this Bowling Center very well maintained and equipped

They have absolutely no clue how to oil the lanes properly or consistently! You dont put oil practically up to the pins you morons! And try getting it the same from lane to lane. Also, how about updating the scoring system to something from the 21st century...they are from the 80s.

Great place, great environment, love the renovations, decent prices, but PLEASE KEEP UP WITH THE BATHROOMS. I love going there but fear those restrooms for how unclean they are.

Took my grandkids there for the arcade. Though they had a great time, there is not a big variety of games.

Had a nice time with the family here. One of the few things we can still do together. Used a Groupon and saved money. Staff was helpful.

The food was really good, the staff were great, and the music was good as well. I will definitely go back.

We purchased for our boys the summer special, shoes and 2 games per day..

Clean facility and fun environment! We didn't see it advertised for the specific times (but it might be posted somewhere), but be aware that there is weekend and prime time evening prices that are more expensive

Managers are very rude! The place is over priced. They don't state how much bowling is before you play. The staff is not very helpful and the place is not very clean. I would consider a different bowling alley because this place is waste of money and definitely not worth it. I'm very disappointed.

Ryan is amazing. Answered all my questions, was super helpful and kind to my family. He should get a raise.

Amazing food and service with good bowling lanes. Good prices. Male bathrooms however, need to be cleaned. Every time I've been here and I've had to use the restroom, it's been disgusting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”

Are pool tables in arcades still good in this modern age?

Yes, pool tables in arcades remain a fantastic draw in 2025! Games like 8-ball or 9-ball offer tactile, skill-based fun that blends strategy and precision. Modern tables feature smooth felt, responsive cues, and vibrant designs, enhancing the classic experience. Arcades foster a social vibe with casual matches or competitive tournaments, appealing to all skill levels. Unlike digital games, pool’s physicality—lining up shots, feeling the cue’s weight—keeps it timeless.
