I love this theater. This is the only one in my area that I will go to. The staff there is amazing and the ticket prices are reasonable. They always show the most recent movies and always have a good variety to chose from. The popcorn is so good and always fresh. The seats are very comfortable and it's always clean. I feel like it's a well managed facility. I highly recommend Abingdon cinema!!
We went to see the new Minecraft movie. The kid's were so excited. After spending almost $60 on tickets, popcorn and drinks, we get maybe 20 minutes into the movie and the screen goes red. The sound eventually goes out and we miss about 20 minutes of the movie. They never backed up the movie for us. No one ever apologized for the inconvenience, but questioned if I knew which theater I was actually in. We waited a minute hoping it'll fix itself but unfortunately it took 4 different adults to go and complain
Dear Abingdon Cinemall, I have a bone to pick with you. My mom takes her grand babies out to see Stitch tonight and gets asked to leave because my kid and my niece were too excited about a kids movie. Then you have the audacity to tell my mom that you all have ?family friendly movies on Saturdays? that she can bring them to. If thats the case then you should have to show current movies as well as older movies. While you all reimbursed my mom for the tickets, I can guarantee you that you have lost some long
Absolutely amazing staff and management. They treated all of us absolutely wonderful. Took care of all our kids with arcade movie and constantly asked if we needed anything. I highly recommend everyone to book a party with Kelsie and her staff! Absolutely loved each employee and appreciate everything they did for my babies and friends
Great theater to bring the whole family. Updated seating with handicap assessible areas and additional theater rooms. There is a great arcade and party room for birthday parties or private celebrations. The staff have always been so kind, efficient, and fun. This is a great place for a date or just to hang out with friends.
It's hit or miss on getting good service here. Last time I came the lady was great. This time the guy was lazy and didn't want to even be here. He treated people like they was bothering him. And lied about simple stuff like popcorn salt. Said they don't have any and I said it's sitting right behind you on the counter. He just stood there like he hated the world. Piss poor experience
The chairs were actually super comfy for me and they seemed like extra cushiony rocking chairs in a way. But something I will not recommend is the popcorn or the drink. We spent over $25 on popcorn and drinks for us and we didn't finish either of them because the popcorn tasted very stale and the soda tasted out of the syrup. ?? We wouldve asked for a remake but the movie had already started by the time we started to eat and drink. Staff is very nice but maybe check the popcorn and drinks before leaving the
Always perfect! Good popcorn, good arcade, somewhat comfy seats in the regular theaters and very comfy seats in the theaters with recliners. The staff are always quick and helpful! Sometimes they have older movies being played, like Indiana Jones yesterday, and new movies like How to train your dragon live action, or Minecraft. And the cinemall is right next to Papa Julio's, so you could have dinner before or after your movie no problem
My wife and I took our kids for their first ever movie theater experience. We went to see Moana 2. The staff was not only incredibly welcoming, but made the experience as memorable as possible, and worked with us to find the most affordable option for concessions, and along with that souvenirs to remember this experience by. The Theater itself is one I've visited multiple times; later bringing my wife, and now my kids, for their first time. It's my favorite in the area. The seats are comfortable and tra
Extremely clean, best popcorn, excellent seating for comfort & movie view, and friendly staff! My daughter enjoys the arcade and picking out prizes the most which is so nostalgic because you can't find many theaters that still have arcades with prizes. I live in TN but drive 40 minutes to VA to this theater. 5 stars! ??
Theater is wonderful clean and comfortable.. The game room is terrible overpriced and takes cards they charge you to buy and only takes cash or other credit cards. Most of the games are unwinnable and half the games just cheat you out of your money. the staff is friendly, and knowledgeable . Just pass this up head to tie breakers in Johnson City for games. I would give the theater ????? I would give the game room zero stars but Google does not give that option.
This is cheaper than some of the other cinemas and is a good place to watch movies. They have an arcade and the seats are comfortable and the staff is friendly.
Absolutely one of the best movie theaters we've been to in a very long time . The games are not as expensive as most places and the lady that was helping with the simulators was so helpful and sweet to my 5 year old which goes above and beyond in my eyes . So thank you I wish I would have gotten her name because she defiantly deserves recognition!!!
Went to the arcade as part of my sons 5th Birthday gift. They made it so much better than expected. They were so kind and excited for him. He got to ride the VR experience and absolutely loved it. Thank you abingdon cinemall for reminding why you all are truly the best in our area!
Let's get real. You compare yourself to the pinnacle, so let's do it. Your seats are uncomfortable. The popcorn is stale. Your prices are only like 50 cents less. And you have the nerve to charge a convenience fee to use a debit/credit card(which makes your prices higher). I'll drive to bristol just on principle of the convenience charge. No one carries $50 around anymore. Besides its a more comfortable seat and they have bigger screens. Edit since you wanted to reply. Yes you updated your seats after th
Watched Elio with the kids its nice having a cheaper option sometimes and a more expensive when you was the 3D or reclining seats
We saw bettlejuice tonight, we are from out of town. This was the best movie experience I've had ever. It had that nostalgic feeling of the movie theater as a kid. But upgraded with all the best things. The seats were amazing so comfortable the recliner was awesome. Staff was so nice and above and beyond helpful. Clean and perfect ?? 10 out of 10 recommend thank you
I love this place! The prices are very fair, the theaters are incredibly clean (I love the reclining/adjustable seats), the arcade is really neat, the staff are all extremely kind/courteous, and the whole place is very tidy/well kept.
We always have a great experience at the Abingdon Cinemall! It's always clean, the employees are always kind and helpful, and there's never an issue! The new arcade games are just amazing! We had our most recent birthday party for a 4 year old here and it went great!!! Highly recommend for parties too!
Unbelievable, terrible customer service from both an employee and the manager. I absolutely have no words for this experience.
I love this place! Especially with the new arcade games and remodel up front! Snacks and drinks are still a little pricey, but the theater itself has nice seating and has always been clean!
So excited to be first time at theater and seeing The Greatest Christmas pageant ever movie; (one star: Three senior ladies really enjoyed movie!!) Didn't expect nothing but disappointment talking about prices for tickets, popcorn and drinks with employee..said what was online quoted for Tuesday specials, senior citizens discounts, etc was from an old ad and not applied now!! No offers, no sorry or concern from employee... Nothing!!! Never expected info online was not up to date when movies are current. I
Love, they offer free movies to kids and family! They encouraged kids to wear their Christmas Pajamas and our friends kids won the bucket of popcorn and candy! We watched Moana 2 recently, it was great!
We had an amazing time but prices are ridiculous. I spent well over 100
So happy to be able to see a movie here that was not being shown anywhere else in a 200 mile radius!
Friendly, and they really try to make it an awesome experience. Free movies on weekends nice new theater with nice seats.
The theater was fine. But people DO NOT bring toddlers if they won't be quiet! You aren't the only ones paying to see a movie, it's rude!!
I've been coming here on and off for many years, and here's my thoughts. PROS - The staff is super friendly and they seem to care about their customers and community which is great! - They have the comfiest seating! - The staff will help you with any problem you bring up to them. If it can be fixed they'll fix it! - The facility is always clean - If you have children, a large arcade is available to them CONS - The building is a bit dated, and occasionally you'll get a slight mildew smell in some of the
Great local movie theater we discovered when we moved here 6 years ago. It was recently upgraded with newer seating, and increased cinematic effects. The staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, there were technical difficulties with the movie we wanted to see today, which was very disappointing as we had planned the family outing for a few weeks, but the management more than made up for our experience with great service recovery, and we'll definitely be back!
Showing today's great new releases and a good selection of good Christian movies as well. Ample parking and affordable tickets. The staff are great and make you feel very welcome. Theaters were clean and well kept. They also have a cool arcade that the kids love.
Paid $92 for 5 drinks, 1 popcorn and 6 matinee tickets. 10 minutes into the movie and the projector quits. No one could fix it and they only offered to wait until the next showing or a refund of only the tickets. $50 was what I spent on popcorn and drinks to only have time to eat a quarter of a bag. And they wonder why people sneak stuff in.
The Wife & I had a date afternoon and went to see Argyle. The movie was packed full of action and had several interesting twists. We've always liked Abingdon Cinemall. The theaters are slightly smaller, and the sound system is awesome! We went during the matinee and almost had the place to ourselves. Popcorn & soda rounded out the experience. Clean and neat everywhere we went. Take a sweater or jacket as the temp is set for about half capacity.
Humming noise during the entire 4pm viewing of Brave New World was distracting as can be today but other than that, good place to see movies as always.
Loved it... great value, comfortable seats and very friendly staff. It'll be our always theater from now on! Thanks for showing The Chosen and other movies that include faith! Like the woman at the well said in Chosen season 1, "I've got to tell everyone!" ??
We saw The Night Before Christmas. 2adults. 1 child who is 6. The movie tickets were reasonable. Of course we wanted popcorn. We also got 2 waters and a small sweet tea. Our entire purchase totaled $42. This is outrageous! I can buy the movie at Walmart later for $20 and pop my own popcorn and watch it for years cheaper than I can pay $42. The movie was great, the seats were comfortable and the popcorn was delicious but it was just not worth the price.
One of the best cinema I've been to. Customer service on point, their VR games by far the best experience Quantum Arena is the game to play. The bathroom was an experience. I strongly recommend them for a family movie and game night!
I'd give a zero if I could. The owner jumps on religious persecution bandwagons and bans movies out of ignorance.
For a movie theater this place is generally clean. They are always a target destination for kids parties with a party room in the back and an arcade. They have a lot of theaters so they can show a lot of different movies. Concession stand prices are the same as every theater very high. It is conveniently located right next to a restaurant for those wanting to do a dinner and a movie night. Staff here is always friendly the sound is always good for the theater never to loud.
Clean facility, Awesome arcade and state of the art theaters. This is what the facility offers. The staff are amazing. They strive to ensure that you have a wonderful experience. I read a previous review that recommended zero stars due to some teenagers being loud in the theater. One day they will be an adult and realize how silly they are. Best of all, they have jalapenos for the nachos.
Love the theater, but the popcorn was terrible, nothing but little crumbles.
My experience of this theater has been nothing but positive and FUN! our family has traveled from greeneville tn to this theater many times in the past several years, this theater is so wonderful that it is worth making a road trip for, we LOVE this theater, There is an awesome arcade, and the food is fantastic, the bathrooms are VERY nice,The employees are SUPER FRIENDLY, the Chairs are AMAZING, theres too much positives to go on about it. IF I could rate this theater a 10 I would!! We can't wait to go bac
My first visit to this theater in years and I was pleasantly surprised. It's well setup from the door throughout and was very clean. Staff was very friendly and worked feverishly to assist the customers. Highly recommend this place.
I apologize. The review that was alerting the public about cockroaches is NOT Abingdon Cinemall . I have never been to this establishment. The review was for the Dept.store ROSES in Abingdon VA. Not quite sure how the mix up happened but it did and I do apologize and appreciate that you let me know.
Very nice and clean. The seats are very comfy and the screen is high quality. Staff is friendly too
There are lots of movie choices! The snack bar has some different options, including snow cones! It can be a bit confusing to navigate and find your theater. The restrooms are old and in need of an update and replacement of fixtures. Quite a few stalls were out of order. They have a large arcade as well. Seating in the theaters was comfortable with movable arm rests. Some theaters have upgraded and reclining type seats, but not our movie. Prices are fairly reasonable but pretty standard compared to other th
All I can say is Wow. Wow. Wow. This place is awesome. Great seating. Parking is great. The staff amazing. The man that helps with the VR is the sweetest man and very helpful he was amazing with my son he helped him get on the VR game many times and was happy each time to help. They also have great popcorn seasoning the ranch and nacho mixed is amazing. The prices are very good as well. Highly recommend this place.
$110 for 2 adults 2 kids (w/ popcorn and pop). Not worth it. Chairs squeaked louder than the movie audio, popcorn was stale and soggy with butter flavored canola, and the arcade games malfunctioning. Another $40 for games that didn't work right, and were wayyyy overpriced. I know a scam when I see it. Edit: I'm not from the area, and this was my first time at your operation. I have no ?kin? around. Maybe another Phillips worked for you, it's a common surname, but my review was based purely on a bad experien
Completely remodeled! The chairs are so comfortable with lots of room. You can stay reclined and people can still walk by. We started going more often since the remodel. The whole atmosphere is more inviting. Not to mention the complete overhaul of the virtual gaming section! My kids LOVE it!
Loved the opera, Salome. Hated that it was out of sync.
Never had a bad experience here. Enjoy going to the movies either with the whole family or just a date night. Always an enjoyable experience
Went for an early showing of the new Super Mario Brother's movie with my husband and 2 small children. This was by far one of the cleanest and nicest cinema experiences I have had in my life. Staff was friendly and bathrooms were very well maintained. Would highly recommend for families, and will return again.
I thought it was one of the best theaters around us with some of the coziest seats and really well kept, the staff was also really great and we had a great experience!
Our girl had the best time.
So far, sitting in the Theater for 30 minutes past the time the movie was supposed to start. Had to tell someone in the front that it hadn't started. Now we've watched 30 minutes of ads with no move after being here an hour.
Wished I lived in this town. Hopefully one day. I was very impressed with the level of service and cleanliness.
Awesome prices! $7.95 for evening and $6.95 for matinee, seniors and children. Movie characters come by for visits with fans so watch their Facebook page. Great staff to help you find your movie and trade in tickets from the arcade that has some cool games. They are under construction/remodel but that doesn't interfere with the movies. And can't wait for the end product! So instead of driving to Bristol for a Movie just stay local we have a wonderful theater here.
Really nice community theater. Family friendly. Free Saturday movies. Games. Nice theater for Abingdon.
Me and my daughter and friends went and watched Moana 2. Nice theater, nice staff.
I love this place and the seats are amazing
Genuinely, the staff at the cinemall go above and beyond for their customers, for the community, and for the love of movies. I cannot speak highly enough of everything they do. My husband grew up going to this theatre and as a surprise for christmas they helped me find a nostalgic piece of Abingdon Cinemall to give him as a gift! It's the kindest thing anyone has ever done. PLEASE consider giving them your patronage ??
10/10 ?. This movie theater is by far the best movie theater we have now! It kept its old look with adding small touches to give it a new revamped appearance. Pricing was great! It's a family atmosphere and it's where most of us had memories at when we were little! Can't wait to go back!
Behind times when it comes to having any type of membership style buckets for you to bring back or any other cost saving options. Quality is excellent. Theater was nice and clean.
Friendly employees and absolutely awesome to be able to take my kids to a movie for free! Being a single parent, this is something truly amazing to be able to do with them! Wouldn't be able to enjoy the experience otherwise. We definitely enjoyed it and hope the cinemall continues this! ??
As cinemas go, this is a very good one. They recently remodeled and updated several of the screens with reclining chairs and upgraded sound and video. They have a very large game area which draws people just to play the games.
Mixed results here. Theater was clean, popcorn/drinks were expensive but tickets were reasonable and employees were nice. I noticed another review mentioning the excessive volume and I'd give the place a -10 for this. We took two youngsters and I felt like we injured their ears. I stuffed paper in mine and still came out with a splitting headache. I'm going to put decibel app on my phone and start taking it to basketball games and movies to quantify this damage. I used chainsaws, etc. and have to use
The new remodel makes a very luxurious experience. Overall I suggest this movie theater over any around
Very great place with friendly staff.
Watched four or five movies in a two day period
Watched "Where the Crawdads Sing" & had popcorn and a drink. Movie was great, theater clean & comfortable. Renovations are happening but didn't take away from the experience. Movie prices are usually good but I think drinks & popcorn are expensive. Perk on that was we did get refills before leaving. This is our usual place to watch movies & we'll return. Recommend.
Very nice theater, seats are pretty comfortable, prices are reasonable, theaters aren't usually terribly crowded. Theaters and facilities are kept decently clean. Picture quality is at least 4 of 5 stars maybe better. Of note this property has one of the best theater sound systems available so audio quality is excellent.
Acrade is a 10 with virtual reality, The theaters are a 10 for sure, seats are great and comfy but on the OTHER HAND the PRICING OF FOOD AND DRINKS are un acceptable. $6.99 for a regular drink.
It's one of the best theaters in the area. I've been going here for years. They're very friendly, and one of the cheapest places to go watch a movie at in the Tri-cities. The quality of the theater is phenomenal for the price. The screens, sound, and the seats make for a very enjoyable experience.
Not a good experience. Stopped here while we were town and thought why not grab a movie here. The theater is old and definitely showing its age, in reasonable shape but looks like something out of 1999. Screens are not bright nor are they crisp. Seating is very uncomfortable with no real recline that doesn't put you back at a near 90 degree upright.. Concession prices are very high while tickets are at least reasonable Honestly, I'd rather pay $4 more and go to the Pinnacle for a much better experience
Experience kinda depends on the day, I went a few months back and the movie was turned off twice for seemingly no reason and I left after they turned it back on for the second time but backed up the movie an hour to almost the beginning. Saw the new Barbie movie a few days ago and had a great experience with no interruptions at all.
I had not been here in a long time. It was awesome. Loved the recliners. The new arcade is nice. Loved the whole movie experience.
So close and Convenient to where I live. The staff is very nice and the facility is clean and has a fun atmosphere. Once they get the arcade back up and running it will be a great place for parents and kids to have some fun! They have matinees on weekends too so you can save some money and still see the latest movies.
Staff was extremely rude and they discriminate against people that have health problems that prevent them from being able to wear a mask. They are extremely overpriced. 4 tickets 1 small popcorn and 1 small drink was $45 and one of those tickets was a 3 year old.
Having the free movies is such a blessing for families like mine to be able to enjoy the theater with my kids
I have been going to the Abingdon Theatre for years. I have always found the staff to be very personable. They will go out of your way to get things right. The bathroon is very clean. I have never found it to be understocked. I do wish the prices were a bit cheaper on refreshments, however they are better than most. I would love to see them bring back their Thursday $5 special. That was great. My husband and I made that our special date night. The free movie Saturday mornings is wonderful for child
I give it 1 star for their birthday party rooms. Don't believe me? RENT ONE OF THEM.
The Cinemall is a huge theatre with 13 screens with stadium seating. Their prices are awesome: MATINEES BEFORE 6:00pm: $5.95 adult $5.95 senior $5.95 children matinee 6:00pm forward: $5.95 FOR CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER $5.95 FOR SENIOR CITIZENS, 62 AND OVER $6.95 FOR ADULTS They play a great selection of movies. There is also an arcade gaming area in the lobby. We love this theater!
Movie was great, sound was perfect! Theater was freezing cold, they never turned the heat on. We had to wear our winter coats for the entire movie. I took my little girl to the bathroom and told one of the employees how cold the theater was and I heard her tell her manager and still the theater never warmed up. I will go back, but not until the weather warms up.
Been coming to this theater for every big premier for over 15 years. It's consistently the best in the region - I used to drive from Kingsport but now from Charlotte to come here. Their sound system is awesome, seats are comfy, and projectors bright. The owner takes pride in the quality of every aspect of the movie experience.
I love this movie theater! They have a very pretty mural on the outside of the building of various Disney characters & other film characters along the front wall. Very nice theater rooms, clean, smelled nice, decent prices & lots of games to play before the movie starts.
Terrible movie going experience. Management refuses to do anything about the constant talking during movies. Just an extremely unprofessional business. Marquee in Bristol is a far better theater.
Always love coming here. The prices are super cheap and makes for a cheap time out and about after being stuck in quarantine. Not always the cleanest place and the seats are a bit outdated. I've heard a rumor they're going to be updating them soon though and if so I can't wait!!!
I prefer coming here rather than Bristol any day. Prices are much less expensive, staff are courteous and helpful, and you don't have to wait in line forever. They have also updated and installed new seats in most of the individual theaters...if not all of 'em. I haven't been in every one lately, so I can't say for sure. The Cinemall is the most comfortable theater from Marion to Johnson City.
Went and watched Chaos Walking and the movie was good, the ladies at the cash register were slightly rude and very hostile when approaching other individuals about masks. The prices were a bit much considering the outdated and uncomfortable seating, will probably just spend the $2 extra and some change in gas and go to Marquee at the Pinnacle next time, mainly for the comfort and cleanliness.
It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.
Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.
Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.
Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.
Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.
Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.
Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.
No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
Yes, virtual reality (VR) games in arcades are a top attraction in 2025! Titles like Beat Saber and Half-Life: Alyx deliver immersive thrills with cutting-edge headsets, motion tracking, and responsive controllers. High-resolution displays and spatial audio create heart-pounding experiences, from slashing rhythms to battling zombies. Arcades feature multiplayer VR zones and tournaments, fostering lively communities. VR booths are regularly packed, proving their captivating, next-level gameplay makes them a must-try arcade experience.
Arcade prize games are a thrilling highlight in 2025! Claw machines, skee-ball, and ticket-redemption games like basketball offer a rush of skill and chance, with rewards like plushies, toys, or electronics up for grabs. Modern machines feature vibrant lights, digital scoreboards, and responsive controls, amplifying the fun. The lively arcade atmosphere, with cheering crowds and buzzing energy, makes every win feel epic.
