Reviews Summary

This charming coffee shop and bakery in a historic Texas Hill Country building earns consistent praise for its excellent coffee, diverse drink options (including alternative milks), and delicious homemade baked goods with gluten-free/keto choices. The cozy, family-friendly atmosphere with indoor/outdoor seating and games delights visitors. While most rave about the quality food (especially burgers, sandwiches, and unique items like cheeseburger calzones), a few note inconsistencies in lunch items and service. The scratch-made approach shines in sauces and baked goods, though some found certain dishes disappointing. Overall, it's a beloved stop for road-trippers and locals alike, offering a delightful mix of coffeehouse charm and hearty homemade fare in a beautifully restored setting.

Great place with great service. Try the chicken salad. Coffee was pretty good too. Good old fashioned country little town.

It's nice but we miss them being in the house and the extra bakery items. This has always been a must stop place on our 281 drive. Great coffee and pastry items including vegan ones. Not as cozy in this new space but it's nice for the new direction they're going. Food is still great. Smoothie was nice on a 95 degree day. Skip the more well known place at the corner and stop here.

Such a cute little place! You walk into a welcoming atmosphere that has couches and a playhouse in the front. Then there's tables and arcade games in the back. Along with pool tables and Foosball. We had their homemade classic burger and fries. Even their ketchup is homemade! Everything was delicious, even down to their sweet tea. They also have baked goods, breakfast foods, soups, sandwiches, coffees, teas and smoothies. Great little lunch stop on our way south.

Great place for the whole family. Coffee/baery in the front with a kid play area. Bar in the back. Super cool concept!

I wouldn't return even if it was free. First the girl at the counter looked beyond annoyed to see us. It was our first time here so when we had questions she all but roller her eyes. Then the drinks came out. The tea was gross. They entirely forgot my daughter?s drink but made it once I brought that up. She said it was so bad she took 2 drinks and was done. The food came out decently fast. The woman working the back was very nice. She was the only good part of the experience at all. The burgers had a weird

A delicious and enjoyable experience. One of my favourite caf?s of all time! I ordered a frappe and they asked if I wanted it sweet, which is nice because frappes usually come too sweet (they offered to add honey, vanilla, etc as sweetener options). I like the way they blended it and I can taste the natural matcha flavour with the drink I ordered since it's not drowned out by the sweetness. Update: Hey! They moved the building so the caf? now has an arcade, grass-fed burgers, a kids? menu, and so much more

Literally never leave a negative review, but this place was terrible. Bunch of teenagers running it and customer service non-existent. My sparkling wine on tap was flat and when I told her, she shrugged her shoulders. My patty melt was was raw in middle so I ate the edges of it. Fries swimming in grease. Atmosphere looks fun but there's a lot of work to be done on food and service.

Real cute setup and had a great variety over all! And the staff was real helpful since I was trying to narrow my choices! They also have Boba tea!! Went back at the beginning of Feb, so should see what they've got going on for this season! Love how they have each room set up and there was back yard seating as well as on the porch with porch swings ??

Stopped by Hico for a coffee break, while on a road trip with my family. Was curious to learn more about the city, hoping for a new experience, instead of just visiting the common local coffee place. How exciting was to visit 2nd St Bakeshop and Coffee. The owner was very friendly, and shared info about her business ran in this Victorian style home, built in 1855, transformed in this amazing bakery and coffee shop. it's a special and unique place and I felt very lucky to have stopped by. We had excellent la

Stopped in for lunch with a friend and LOvEd the atmosphere (especially the playhouse and lending library, cool video games, pool tables and variety of seating). And the food was great!!

Well kept small town charm with kids play area in front (indoor). Some arcade game machines, pool table and foosball games available. We thought of gaving a quick stop for a drink on the road and ended up spending close to an hour.

Very delicious baked goods presented beautifully. A lovely historic house in the city of Hico is home to this quality coffee bar and bakery. There were even keto options. The employees were friendly and efficient. The coffee is mellow and the drink menu extensive. We thoroughly enjoyed! The shop was a surprise to us. There are less than 2000 residents in Hico, but this is a city on the rise.

Family fun and burgers. Coffee drinks and baked goods. Games and a lending library

Quaint coffee shop in an adorable setting in a home built in 1883! Friendly staff & very helpful in making our choices. My husband & I split a cheeseburger calzone & piece of German chocolate cake-delicious! I purchased one of their cute mugs for my tea or hot chocolate. Definitely a must stop!

The food was great, lovely atmosphere. They have family games that you can use while waiting for your food. A very inviting place, sweet waitress.

Took my grandson after his dental appointment, Boba tea, expresso sandwiches in a great space with pool table and those game things, has quiet spaces as well.

Good ole' boys mechanics, old alternator out (5 min. tops) and new one in. Thank you Jackson. Didn't go to 2nd Street social, this is for Jackson Automotive 2 blocks down the street??? Google maps is wack.

I asked for a custom coffee and the result was fantastic. The person preparing the drink did a fantastic job... with a smile! ??

Such a beautiful and relaxing place to stop by when on a road trip. The coffee and baked goods were delicious, especially the carrot pineapple cake, we'll come back for sure.

Children's play area with kid kitchen! This alone makes it the perfect spot for a meal in Hico if you're travelling with young kids. Great atmosphere. Cozy. Cool remodeled house. Variety of easy food. Baked goods. Coffee.

My family and I were visiting Hico and have heard great things about the brunch. It did not disappoint! There was a heart variety of items, the staff was great, it was a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.

We got the most amazing cookies from 2nd Street Bakeshop for Teacher Appreciation. It is so nice to have a great option here in Hico!

Excellent. I had the 2nd St Burger, and it was surprisingly delicious. The grass fed beef has a great flavor, and the toppings on the burger were also great. The shoestring fries were great, never had them like this. They're very thin, almost like hash-browns. They're making their own ketchup in-house and it's also really good. I had a latte afterwards with a flavored syrup they also made in-house- brown sugar something, I don't quite remember. But it was ALSO delicious. These guys are doing really great w

The Classic Burger. the Patty Melt, and the Shoe String Fries were phenomenally delicious. A little pricey in my opinion, but the flavor is definitely worth it. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Cool concept, great vibe - but the espresso is actually very good too!! Great job!!

This was the worst burger we have had in a long time. The meat patty was burned on both sides. Didn't even taste like real beef. The ?homemade bun? was dry. The shoestring fries were too small and half of them were burned. The staff acted like we were imposing on their time.

We came here on a stop through the town and loved everything! The staff, place, and drinks were incredible!

We stopped by on our way to visit our daughter at Tarleton. The coffee was excellent and the food delicious with nice sized portions. They are a little slow but it is understandable for the quality. We will be stopping by on each of our trips to Tarleton!

Lovely little coffee shop with something for everyone. Sweet and savory treats, vast array of beverages, a chill vibe, games, indoor/ outdoor seating and even an AirBnB suite.

Very cute place, coffee for your drive at a homely local business. Oatmeal Cookies are yummy ??

This place is so cute and charming!! We just stopped for coffee but it's really good. We will definitely come back and try one of their many baked goods or delicious buffet style breakfast.

The people were nice; cost about $17.00 each; had classic burger 2nd street burger with some kind of sauce - did not taste good; one order of string fries. Sorry review was not better?? We will not eat here again. From out of town( but go thru Hico a lot!

I had grass fed burger with blue cheese I hardly noticed the cheese and we had grilled chicken sandwich it was a disappointment chicken breast had skin on and the meat was brownish and it tasted as if it was reheated we had to return it and got refunded ! The place is adorable but they need to pay attention to quality !

Cute little coffee shop and bakery! And to my surprise they also had keto baked goods ?? Friendly staff and tasty goods will make this a regular stop on my travels through here

Cute place! The bathroom had a bit of a door lock issue, and the paper towels had run out, but the drinks were affordable and good. We had a cold brew with vanilla and cream and a chai latte. Zucchini bread was yummy! They had outdoor seating with swings and tables, and the indoor area was very spacious. It used to be an old house. They even had a small area with toys for kids to play. Didn't get pictures because it was a quick stop.

Food was terrible. Frozen burger patty. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Better off going to sonic across the street. Not to mention I spent over $40 for two people

This place is great. Everything is from scratch. The ketchup is made in house, as for all their sauces( except Buffalo). I had the recommendationed patty melt. Yummy. T Highly recommend this place.

Worst food I've had in a long time.. save yourself the bad experience and go somewhere else.

The employees were nice but got our order wrong and had to wait and when we received our order honestly the bread and meat were burnt... One of the girls cooking did not have on gloves and her hair was not tied back ... There are no servers so you are completely on your own which is ok but there is no salt and pepper, no napkins, no condiments on the tables .. for a "restaurant" it was disappointing... I'm sorry but I would not recommend it to anyone

Lovely old house turned into a bakery/coffe shop. After we ordered our drinks we sat out on the front patio. Loved relaxing on the swing and watch the traffic and people go by. There were many food options with a variety of special diet needs. We didn't try anything as we just had a late breakfast st home. Will definitely try a food item when we go back. I ordered a maple bourbon latte and it was good. The house made syrup didn't over power the coffee flavor, it complimented it.

Happened upon this place accidentally and boy are we good we did! The perfect place for us to stop on our road trips. First, the place is so adorable. Every detail thought of in decorating and design. Perfect for families as there is plenty of room and special areas for children. The staff is welcoming and warm. The food. Wow. It tastes fresh and delicious especially for such a reasonable price. Finally, the coffee is properly done without any pretentiousness. Highly recommend!

Cute little place. Got some cold brew and cookies! ??

Walked over from pecan Street and had a cup of coffee. Great little place to spend an afternoon.

This is my 2nd home! Food is delicious, service is wonderful, the vibe is definitely vibing! They are also one of the only sit down restaurants open on Modays in Hico.

Stopped here fora coffee potato whilst traveling through Hico. Loved it!

Incredibly welcoming and relaxing atmosphere! GREAT service! Different kind of bakery with many different options for different types of tastes. Also, their drinks will pleasantly surprise you. Boba tea out in the country! Who knew? Worth the drive! Give this place a try!

They're always polite and the drinks are always good.

An absolute gem in Hico! Beautifully decorated, clean, and spacious. There are games, colors and plenty of toys for the kids to play with, making this a perfect stop for families. The coffee is great and the staff is friendly. We're definitely making this a regular stop when we drive through. Please support this wonderful business if you're passing through!

I rarely give a restaurant a 5 star rating but this one , I really loved! I've only been a couple times since I don't live close by, but each time the food has been amazing and it's afforable dining. I love how fresh it tastes. I think they must use all organic & farm fresh because you can taste a difference. Yum! And I love that they have family games you can play while you wait and toys for the kids too. I plan to go back as often as I'm in town. I recommend this place highly!

I loved this cafe/restaurant. The atmosphere was very relaxed and was a welcome place to have lunch with friends. There is so many drinks to choose from from Tea to coffees and more. The food was just so wonderful. I can't wait for my next trip to Hico so I can stop in again! This is a wonderful old house converted into a cafe. It has a bunch of rooms you are talk through and find that special place to eat. There is also the most wonderful dog that quietly roams round and VERY good with kids and dog l

Had a lovely lunch with hubby at this location. I had the Cuban panini, it was very good, very tasty, would highly recommend that sandwich. Hubby had the buffalo chicken sandwich, he wasn't as impressed. He said overall it was good but had little buffalo flavor. The service was good, friendly and professional. The owner was on hand and is delightful to visit with. Highly recommend for a lunch getaway with spouse our friends.

I just LOVE this place. Excellent coffee and bakery tems. Fabulous hours - helps those of us running back and for from Ft. Worth and Hill Country. Best part? Beautifully restored 1800's home with plenty of cozy and charming indoor seating with even more outside.

We stopped here on our road trip instead of going to Starbucks. The coffee was delicious and there were so many interesting flavors. And, they had coconut milk for my mocha! The scones were unique and delicious. We also tried the chicken/sun dried tomato pesto sandwich - similar to a calzone (Tuscan hand pocket). They also have a room upstairs that you can rent (B&B). We will be back!

Great little coffee and bake shop tucked into the Texas Hill Country. Great selection of coffee and tea drinks with a diverse alternative milk selection. Coffee drinks are less sweet than most places which allows the flavors in the coffee to remain present. Baked goods run the gamut from breakfast to snacky to desserts. Definitely worth a stop whether early morning or late afternoon!

Just wow! We didn't expect to find this gem on the way from Austin to Dinosaur Valley State park. It's located in. The very old beautiful historical building full of small details to please the most extravagant and picky traveler. The menu is simple yet super tasty and just what we wanted, including tasty European style soups and delisted hot teas. Will definitely come again!

I love their coffee! So delicious!

Super unique shop on 281. Lots of attention to detail. Hidden gem for sure!

Super cute and quaint! The frittatas were delicious. I could have eaten 3 more! Great menu selection including Gluten-Free and Keto options in bake shop. 100% will be back for the atmosphere and food.

Wow what a gem! Excellent bakery & coffee shop in a charming old house. Lots of seating nooks, including outdoor space & a porch, plus games for adults & kids to pass the time. The zucchini bread was excellent; great cinnamon roll; friendly service. Even introduced us to a new type of milk alternative: macadamia milk! Awesome spot whether visiting or just passing thru Hico!

My family and I took a quick trip to Hico and it was my daughters birthday. This bakery took the order on a Saturday and had the cake ready on Monday morning. It was amazing. I am a cake expert ?? this was no H?E?B thick icing, kinda plastic tasting, cake that you can't even finish a bite. No no! The glaze/icing was melted over the top of a super rich chocolate cake. It was so good, better than I make myself. The cake was perfectly moist and springy, again I'm a cake expert. Thank you for making such a n

Love the coffee, pastries and food here. It's the best place to get good coffee and something sweet in Hico. There's some chains and another cafe that should be avoided but do yourself a favor goto 2nd Street when you're headed through town. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is they can be inconsistent with their drinks sometimes. Overall really solid place though.

Great start to a day of hiking enchanted rock. Miel cinnamon latte made to perfection! Mushroom spinach egg souffl? was divine. (Menu intrigued for more) Will stop again on way home. The house is very inviting and cozy, wish had time to relax on porch swing.

Probably over all a very good place to eat, but we went for mothers day brunch. We were given a time which was towards the end of day for them obviously, so a few items were gone or nearly gone and they made no attempt to refill. Now that is not our fault and there was no decrease in price since they were running out and not refilling. So over all not impressed with the brunch at all.

I am so sad that we don't live closer! The coffee is amazing and the syrups are delicious. The frittatas and muffins all look delicious (and the ones we had tasted delicious!), and the house is beautiful and well-decorated. There is definitely something for everyone?s diet, and the barista was great!

I ordered an iced chai latte and a lemon blueberry scone. The drink and pastry were absolutely delicious! Beautiful environment and excellent service. Definitely a great spot for a nice treat in Hico.

Great stop! If you enjoy anything HGTV, you'll enjoy seeing this adorable shop converted from an old home. Love the decor! It's even charming in the restroom. My husband had a piece of cake and iced tea. I had a ham and gruyere muffin along with a scrumptious chocolate chip cookie for the road. We're pleasantly refreshed for the rest of our road trip. Looking forward to trying lunch next time through Hico. I highly recommend that you stop too.

A gem of a coffeeshop on the main road through Hico. Great atmosphere in the converted historic house. Vegetarian food options were tasty; same for the desserts. It was a perfect spot to stop on our way up from Houston to Dinosaur Valley.

Service is slow. Ordered and no drinks and not sure on how the food is delivered. Staff not helpful at all. Food is overpriced and not good. Don't stop.

I'm not sure if they were having an off day or what. My husband and I purchased a hot coffee and a hibiscus tea they were both perfectly fine. We bought a sun-dried tomato scone that was absolutely inedible. Bone dry, tough and bitter.

Got the $9.00 ($11.50 with tax and tip) Reuben Stromboli. Soggy like a wet sponge on outside but searingly hot on inside (burned roof of my mouth) with very little meat and sauerkraut. Clearly just something taken from fridge and popped into the microwave and heated too long. Buy coffee here but walk across the street to Sonic if you want a sandwich.

I ordered the pepperoni calzone. The bread was dry, rubbery and tough. I could barely bite into it. The marinara was served cold from a little plastic dipping sauce container. Buy coffee or dessert, but skip the lunch menu.

Beautiful house and decor - so cozy and warm! Loved the porch swings!! Coffee was delicious and the baked goods warm and sweet.

We went here for breakfast as we were visiting Hico, and the surrounding area. We ate breakfast here one day, and the Koffee Kup Kafe the other day. 2nd Street was WAY better. The food was better, and fresher. The coffee was much better. The environment was in a cute remodeled house. There were lots of cute local stuff for sale inside, too. It was a much, much better experience. I have heard it said that 2nd Street is a bit inconsistent but...what we had was so great, I'd tolerate some inconsistency. My w

Loved this place. Very tasty hamburgers. Very juicy. Fantastic home made buns. Really fun building and decor. Nice place to hang out and the kids enjoyed the place too.

A wonderfully nice surprise in this small Texas town. Soups, burgers, sandwiches, coffee, and desserts. Plus a cute little (not yappy) dog wandering around in this converted historic house. We'll definitely be back.

My Stephenville family remarked to me during my 1st Sunday Brunch at Provisions, that they now eat there almost every Sunday. Excellent fresh, better than homemade food, wonderful welcoming atmosphere, excellent service from the staff, very clean and child friendly. Another reason to draw this 42 year Keller, Texas resident to Hico.

My husband and I dined here for mother's day brunch. It was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere, food and service was excellent! We are coming back in July fory birthday!

The founder is a butcher by trade, and it shows considering the amazing burgers! Their fries are also amazing and worth a try, at least to share. Something for the whole family.

I'll keep my review simple: We stopped by on a day trip this weekend for snacks for the drive back home and we got my 7 year old son a pre-made turkey sandwich. I didn't think much of it since it was pre-made, but when he was half through with it he said we should go back and get lunch for the rest of the week. Since sandwiches are not his thing I took a bite and it really was DELICIOUS!! It was Homemade Pre-made and WAY better than I knew but I'm not from around there. My husband had a banana strawberry sm

Disgusting ??.Never again shit my pants for weeks.

This is a really neat place in Hico! We had a great latte and mocha here on our stop through town. We are planning a trip back to stay in the B&B!

Amazing drink selection, delicious and quality food, gorgeous interior, friendly staff. Stopped here for a quick break and could not have been more pleased by the experience! Also super good for families.

From the moment you enter until you leave, you will not be disappointed. Well crafted food (breakfast items easily serve 2). Freshly made coffee. Lovely quaint house.

Love this coffee shop. Charming, and full of character, you can get things to eat too. They even have gluten free options!

One of our favorite places to eat. I just wish they were near where we lived! :-) We ate there three times in one week and were very happy with the food and the service!

The location is super cute and the coffee was the best I've ever had. I got the cold brew and it was perfect! I would definitely come back.

Keto, paleo, vegan, gluten-free friendly?. They also use cuv?e coffee roasters ???? (we had cold brew, a homemade egg bite, and a keto almond flour muffin. Amaze balls.

Cozy place, with Great food ! Great place to go weekly! ( If not everyday!)

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
