1st Street Saloon

Reviews Summary

The bar receives mostly positive feedback, with many praising its friendly bartenders, lively atmosphere, and affordable drinks. Multiple reviews highlight the welcoming vibe, live music, and outdoor patio. However, a few criticize inconsistent service, gossipy staff, and smoking indoors. Customer Reviews

It's always a good time at First Street. Drinks are very reasonably priced and cold, entertainment is mostly on par, and the outdoor area is an amazing touch. Slightly off the beaten path but definitely worth the short walk or golf cart ride to check out.

Always have great time at the First Street Saloon, great service and friendly staff! As a recent newcomer to Madison I find it a great place to meet new people and have a good time! Also,as a local musician I appreciate their support of the local music scene, with live bands,Kareoke and the Wed. night open mike. If I have friends coming in from out of town, this is one of the first places I think of to have them get a feeling of the local flavor!!

This is a great and fun little bar. All the bartenders and both owners are great. It's my go to spot to hang out. They always have something good happening on the weekend. Definitely have to check it out!

We absolutely love this establishment. We ALWAYS make it our #1 stop when coming to Madison. Whether it's a night out or a birthday celebration, these ladies are outstanding in making it a wonderful night. Every weekend is different entertainment & crowd.

Too bad this bar is run by a couple of gossipy women! A nice little bar but the bartenders gossip about their patrons to the extent that they are not opposed to spreading rumors and home wrecking... They also post photos of people on Facebook without permission. Here's a tip: mind your own business while running your business! UPDATE: nope, def not a former employee but it'd be an easy way to affirm what is detailed in my original review if they shared their experience! As a matter of fact, I don't know

OMG, I'm the 1st PUERTORICAN ???? here at 1st Street Sallon, amazing live music, amazing service, and great atmosphere, service, the bar looks amazing, good viver. I enjoyed it, I love IT. I coming back. Thanks, everyone.

Was in a week ago and right back out! Too busy waiting on the 'good ole boys!' Welcome your visitors!

Great bartenders and crowd. Musician was good. I had a great time and would highly recommend.

Cool little dive bar with good music, affordable drinks and friendly faces. Stopped here while on a motorcycle trip in Madison. They had karaoke and and live music that weekend. Would definitely recommend to anyone passing through town.

Great time small town vibe very inviting Karaoke was awesome!

Loved the casual atmosphere of this bar. It's non-smoking inside, the air conditioning works great, my bartender was very personable on my last visit. I was here on a quieter day though so results may vary for those busier times.

Fun place, a few drunk girls - which was nice

Great little bar, good people

Good people, pool table, darts, corn hole tournaments, music on weekends, locals real nice. However no food, I wasn't looking for food. Thank you

We dropped into town for about a month in the RV and found ourselves here quite a bit. I love this place! The bartenders, especially James, has been so friendly and welcoming. We've enjoyed drinks and darts! This place has darts, pool, and pull tabs. And great prices!

Fast friendly service in a laid-back atmosphere. The one-man entertainment the weekend we were there was outstanding. He did request from the Eagles to Bob Seger. The food was served quickly the waitresses Were efficient and prompt. We will definitely be back.

Went last night for karaoke. First time customer. Had a blast! I got a little obnoxious (I'm sorry) because they slowed down how much they would serve me. It was definitely the right call ladies!

I always feel a little cramped an first street but the place is set up nice. Clean pool table. Smoking indoors approved. The bartender, caught no name, was wonderfully sweet. Typically, the quote "you are the company you keep." The people in there never fight when I go. Variety in music play. And fun memories.

Decent bar. Reasonable drink prices. The crowd is usually a fun, relaxed crowd. I have had a few unpleasant encounters with staff, but I still recommend this bar over others in Madison.

Apparently Miss Debby the owner of the 1st Street Saloon likes to point fingers and ban people without solid evidence. Now, I'll be the first to say it's her business and she has the right to deny service for any reason she sees fit. However, she is not untouchable by criticism. At first she told this man "we saw you on the cameras" then it quickly went to "I have it on good source" so let me ask you as potential patrons, what's keeping her from blaming you next time you come to her establishment? What if s

Tucked back from Main Street but in a quieter part of downtown Madison. Decent selection of drinks. It's a plus that they constantly play music unlike some other bars in Madison. It's smoker friendly which can be a pro or con.

Staff was very friendly & accommodating. Clean, interesting decor. Attended karaoke there last night, had a good time.

Good place to watch a band, play pool. They have an outdoor patio with corn hole boards during warm weather

Great place, cool people and enough room to get away from the crowd.

Little fun bar! Great drinks. Our bartender was fun and made us customized shots. Also darts, touch tunes and popcorn

If you like dive bars, you'll love it here. (I love dive bars) Only negative, which is a big one personally, is that you can smoke inside.

Small neighborhood bar. Cold beer, good music on jukebox, nice bartenders and friendly locals. We go there every time we go to Madison. ??

My favorite place to go have a drink. My friend and I meet up here occasionally to visit early in the evening when it's fairly quiet. It's clean and the owner is a jewel.

Vicky was wrkn she always fun to talk to and then newly wed mrs Tianna came in to cover the night shift and shes really a sweet heart lindsey really had some cool friends so great full to have met her its always cool to meet peoples as crazy as myself lol

If I could leave negative stars I would. Bartender wouldn't serve us after checking our ID?s. Threw a friends ID back at her and told us we weren't over 21. Bartender should be fired for how unprofessional and rude she was. Making a report to excise.

Great service and cold beer!! Fabulous beer prices!! Nice bar tucked away on a side street in Madison Indiana. Loved it!!

Havnt been there too much but a cool lil bar. Prices arent bad on beer but mixed drinks are too high for me. Always good looking girls there lol...

Great atmosphere. Kudos to the bartender, who knew when it was time to bring me water instead of another drink!

Just don't put your money in the juke box on the wall. No one wants to pay for a song. see it qued to play, then 2 songs later its deleted.

Chill place, really nice back patio with corn hole. Cheap beer and bourbon

Great bar with a nice pool table, pull tabs, and darts. Grace is a fantastic bartender. Will be back.

great service , cold beer ,atmosphere is great ,sitting on outside ,clean bathrooom

Great place to go and unwind. Best bartenders in town. Everybody makes? you feel at home.

Nice atmosphere and friendly bartender, Mary.

Very nice and clean place just wish it was non-smoking! Smoke is its only dirty thing and it is a shame to ruin all it has to offer.

I walked in and this place was dark dingy and very dirty. I guess it was a slow night because the attitudes were just bad I didn't stay long I got up and walked out

Nice little place. Dina the evening bartender was fabulous! Love her!

A very comfortable neighborhood bar. Great service and friendly people.

Best bartender ever! Kelly is very friendly and inviting to out of towners!

Love the patio area. Smoking is allowed outside.

Love the look and feel.of the bar but the mixed drinks are not the best

Very friendly service and a nice place to just hang out!!!

Had a rude bartender and crabby old man to deal with, while trying to have a couple of beers.

Refused to serve me because the random person I walked in with didn't pay their tab.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s it like visiting an arcade today?

It’s a mix of nostalgia and high-energy fun! Many arcades blend retro classics like Pac-Man and pinball with modern VR games, racing simulators, and rhythm challenges — often with music, lights, and a social vibe.

Is it better to go alone or with friends?

Both can be great! Solo visits let you focus on your favorite games, while going with friends adds competition, teamwork, and laughs. Many people plan arcade meetups as a casual hangout or even date spot.

What should I bring to an arcade?

Usually just yourself and a way to pay (some arcades still use coins, others use cards or apps). If you're competitive, bring your A-game. If you're social, bring friends or meet new ones over multiplayer games.

What’s the best time to visit an arcade?

Weekdays or early afternoons are usually less crowded — perfect for focused play. Evenings and weekends bring the buzz, especially at barcades or venues with DJs, tournaments, or themed nights.

Can I meet new people at arcades?

Absolutely! Arcades attract a mix of casual players and serious gamers. Whether you're jumping into a four-player co-op or chatting between rounds, it's a fun, low-pressure way to connect over shared interests.

Are arcades still just for kids?

Not at all. While many arcades are family-friendly, there are also adult-oriented ones with full bars, 18+ nights, or vintage nostalgia themes. Arcades today cater to everyone — from first-timers to lifelong gamers.

Are there events or tournaments I can join?

Yes! Many arcades host regular competitions, retro nights, cosplay parties, and more. Whether you're into high scores or just want to watch and vibe, events add an extra layer to the experience.

What if I’m not great at arcade games?

No worries — arcades are about having fun, not being perfect. Try a variety of games, ask others for tips, and remember: the vibe is more “let’s play” than “let’s win.”
